Robert Pattinson once dreamed of being a rapper

The British actor – who is best known for portraying vampire Edward Cullen in ‘The Twilight Saga’ – was “obsessed” with Eminem as a teenager and made recordings of himself performing his own composition.

He said: “You want a secret? OK, how about this – I’ve got a whole collection of tapes of me rapping from when I was 13! I wanted to be a rapper so there are hundreds and hundreds of tapes. They’re very amusing!

“I was obsessed with Eminem when I was younger. When he first came out I was about 12 and fanatical about his ‘Slim Shady’ CD. I think he’s a genius.”

The 24-year-old star even had his own “crew” but admits his lyrics were less-than-authentic.

He explained to Top of the Pops magazine: “Most of my rhymes were stolen off other people anyway. They were all like, ‘I was raised on these streets..’, which was a complete farce because I was actually raised in quite a nice area of London called Barnes. Not very ghetto at all!

“I was obsessed with it all, though. I even had my own little crew – we called ourselves Big Tub and the Tappy Cats.”

Robert has previously recorded tracks for the ‘Twilight’ soundtracks but insists he has no plans to move into music full time.

He said: “I’m a bit of an attention seeker – I love being on stage. But the thought of performing music on stage terrifies me. I’m not scared of acting though.”

However, if the chance came to perform with rapper Eminem, Robert would jump at the chance.

He said: “I’d love to rap with Eminem! That would be really amazing.”

The ‘Twilight Saga’ hunk loves shopping in thrift stores but admits his fame makes it difficult to make many trips to expand his wardrobe.

He said: “I like kind of s***ty clothes most of the time. I like second hand. That’s another thing. I can’t really go into second hand stores to get new clothes any more so I end up wearing the same thing every day.

“I wish I could shop in vintage stores the whole time. But because a lot of paparazzi follow me around, it can be difficult.”

Though he prefers second hand clothing, the 24-year-old actor – who is dating his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-star Kristen Stewart – turns to designer Marc Jacobs when he is in need of red carpet wear.

He added: “At almost every single premiere I wear Marc Jacobs. It seems to be the only stuff that fits me.”
It has previously been claimed that the British star rarely showers and has upset cast and crew on the ‘Twilight Saga’ with his pungent body odour.

A source close to the star – who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the film franchise – previously said: “He stinks. I mean, it’s awful. He never showers, and it drives people on the set crazy. He completely reeks.”

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were spotted enjoying a romantic meal in Hollywood on Saturday (02.10.10)

The ‘Twilight Saga’ co-stars – who are believed to have been dating since meeting on the set of first movie in the vampire franchise in 2008 – surprised diners with their affectionate display at Soho House restaurant.

An onlooker said: “They were staring at each other throughout dinner and kept stealing quick kisses from one another during the night. Rob’s arm was around her for most of dinner and they kept looking at each other and giggling throughout the evening. They are definitely into each other.”

The source added that despite being joined by a large group of friends, the pair didn’t leave each other’s sides all night, while a smitten Robert – who plays vampire Edward Cullen opposite Kristen’s Bella Swan – only had eyes for his girlfriend.

The onlooker added to E! News: “They were by each other’s sides the entire night. After dinner, Rob, Kristen and their friends moved to the patio where the group was smoking and the guys were drinking. Everyone was laughing and having a good time together, but you could tell Rob was doting on Kristen and making sure she was comfortable. They were next to each other everywhere the group went.”

The pair will begin filming ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ – the final part of the vampire series – in November.

Robert Pattinson wants to play a sex and drug obsessed music industry figure in a new movie.

The ‘Twilight’ star has his sights set on playing fictional record label A&R (Artist and Repertoire) man Steven Stelfox in the big screen adaptation of novel ‘Kill Your Friends’ – written by former real life A&R man John Niven.

In the book, Stelfox is working for a label in London in 1997 looking for new bands and pop stars to sign while at the same time fuelling his hedonistic lifestyle with cocaine and prostitutes.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Rob is a huge fan of the novel. He is fascinated by the music industry and is keen to get involved in the project. He’s already approached producers telling them he wants to play the leading man. If he gets the role it will be the darkest part he’s ever played.

“It’s an incredibly adult character and is bound to shock his fan base.”

Pattinson is not the only star trying to secure a role in the movie.

Drum ‘n’ bass artist Goldie – who is parodied by Niven in the tome – has also asked bosses for a part.

If Pattinson does land the lead it will be his latest attempt to move away from the role of vampire Edward Cullen which catapulted him to fame in the ‘Twilight’ movies.

The 24-year-old actor played a tormented student who rebels against his father in ‘Remember Me‘, and he shared a number of raunchy sex scenes with his co-star Emilie de Ravin in the movie.

Robert Pattinson gets “paranoid” whenever new people approach him.

The ‘Remember Me’ actor reckons fame has ruined his social skills and he now can’t help being suspicious whenever fans he doesn’t know approach him.

He told The Sun newspaper: “Being well known is a real burden. I’m less open and have noticed that I’m actually getting paranoid. If people push themselves on me I find it gruelling and repulsive.
“If I even think someone wants to approach me I feel the need to scream, ‘What do you want of me’.
“Then later I think, ‘What if this person only wanted to be nice?’ “

The English actor also finds it “frustrating” spending long periods of time on film sets with no time at home, meaning he has lost contact with most of his old friends.

He added: “I’ve been forced to stay in a hotel for the last three years. It’s frustrating. I got back to London and found out I had lost my whole social life.
“It’s tough maintaining it when you don’t speak to anyone for over a year. I am now trying to get back in touch with some friends through the internet.”

Robert, 23, admitted his insecurity stems from the fact he feels he has yet to prove himself as an actor.
He said: “It’s all been given so easily. What did I do to deserve this adulation?
“I am convinced I need to work at least ten full years to actually earn the status I’m apparently being given.
“I want to grow as an actor. I don’t want to be typecast as the romantic hero. I’m not going about wishing everything was back to how it was in the past – although sometimes I do as it was so much easier.”

The ‘Remember Me’ actor has become the latest star to be immortalised with a lookalike at London’s Madame Tussauds, and some of his fans were invited to a VIP unveiling to meet the imitation this morning (25.03.10).

Robert fan Katie Sear said: “The figure looks really great! Just like him – his hair is spot on. It’s amazing, almost like meeting the real thing! I’m sure people are going to love it; he is just gorgeous.”

The waxwork has the trademark messy hair and narrow-eyed expression of the real Robert, and museum organisers are in no doubts that he will quickly become one of their hottest attractions.

Madame Tussauds’ spokesperson Liz Edwards said: “Pattinson is one of the hottest celebs on the planet. The ‘Runaways’ actress has reservations about working with her mother Jules Mann-Stewart on new drama ‘K-11’ but thinks it will be a “cool” project when it is finally given the go ahead.

She said: “She’s a really well-known script supervisor and she’s co-written this drama ‘K-11’, which she’ll direct and I will be in. If she called me right now and said, ‘We’re making the movie,’ I would be really excited. I guess my question is, ‘How would it be to work with a parent?’ We’re really close and then, at the same time, we’re creatively very different. But, I think it would be cool if it happens.”

Kristen is best known for her role as Bella Swan in the ‘Twilight’ movies, in which she stars opposite her boyfriend Robert Pattinson who plays vampire Edward Cullen.

The franchise – based on the best-selling books by Stephenie Meyer – has been a worldwide success, with millions of devoted fans, but although the actress can understand their passion she has never been “obsessed” by anything.

The ‘Twilight’ actor looks for roles that will help him with his life, which is why he was attracted to new movie ‘Remember Me’, in which he plays Tyler Hawkins a rebellious young man living in New York city and trying to cope with the suicide of his brother.

He said: “I try and pick roles that will help me develop as a human being and I think I was going through a similar kind of experience as my character Tyler, which I guess you could call being rebellious. I thought just doing the film would actually help me to think about and discover things that would help me in my life. I was kind of using it as a therapy exercise.”

The 23-year-old heartthrob also admitted he is still grieving the death of his beloved dog Patty last year as he felt he had lost a family member.

He told Parade.com: “I keep talking about my dog all the time. It was an incredible dog, and I said in an interview recently he was the most important person in my life. My family went crazy with me for saying that. But, however ridiculous it may seem to some people, my relationship with my dog was a defining moment. Having the dog die was, literally, like the worst day of my life. It was like losing a family member.”

The actor has donated outfits from his latest movie ‘Remember Me’ including a blue Prada suit, slip-on Birkenstocks, and an off-white LNA T-shirt for an online sale, which will raise money for the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).

Fans can start bidding for the 23-year-old ‘Twilight’ star’s costumes on the website icollector.com at 11am on Saturday (13.03.10).

His ‘Remember Me’ co-stars have also donated outfits for the charitable cause.

Actress Emilie de Ravin – who plays his love interest in the movie – has a pair of her denim shorts up for offer and Pierce Brosnan has donated an expensive grey suit.

Costumes from other hit movies such as ‘The Blind Side’ and ‘Leap Year’ are also up for grabs.

The actor – who shot to fame following the success of the ‘Twilight’ vampire franchise – was recently immortalized in wax at the famous museum Madame Tussauds.

Madame Tussauds said: “They have been studying hundreds of photos and pouring through hours of video to ensure that they capture R-Pattz’s trademark sultry expression and inimitable style.”

Robert follows in the footsteps of a host of stars to have been immortalized in wax including Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Marilyn Monroe and David and Victoria Beckham.

It was hoped the waxworks would give fans on both sides of the Atlantic a rare chance to get close to the heartthrob.

The ‘Twilight’ hunk went along to trendy nightspot The Garage in Highbury and Islington with a big group of pals to support his friend Bobby Long – who was performing an acoustic set at the venue – but upset many female fans by refusing to pose for photographs with them.

One female reveller said: “He was shielded by his friends, but Rob leaned against the bar pint in hand. He was looking his usual yummily dishevelled self – black leather jacket, skinny jeans and smouldering good looks – and most of the women in the room suddenly felt the need for another drink. A few were even brave enough to ask for photos, which he seemed to be mostly refusing.”

When the 23-year-old actor – who is dating his ‘Twilight’ co-star Kristen Stewart – began to get frustrated with all the unwanted attention, he and his friends tried to hide in the bar’s outside area.

The source added to Radar Online: “He dodged into the smoking area and was quickly surrounded by a wall of friends but just hung out with them, no one really bothered him and he just chatted away with people.”

However, Robert quickly started to grow bored of the cold and returned to the bar for another pint of beer – though he continued to maintain a low-profile.

The fan said: “Considering that the music was so upbeat, he was there with friends and had a couple of beers, I was surprised Rob wasn’t enjoying the music like everyone else. Instead, with no one bothering him, he just went back to his corner of the bar and hunched over another pint with his head down.”
