Nicole Richie is ready to start finalising plans for her wedding

The TV star-and-fashion designer – who is engaged to Joel Madden – is free of work commitments and is focused on getting everything in place for her big day.

Nicole – who recently completed a tour of Europe to promote her new fashion range Winter Kate and her House of Harlow jewellery collection – told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: “I’ve been on the road. I just got home, and so it’s really going to be now that’s the time for me to sit down and think about what I want.”

Although the 28-year-old beauty is ready to start organising her nuptials she and Joel – who raise two children together, daughter Harlow, two, and six-month-old son Sparrow – are yet to pick a date.

When asked by Ellen if she had a day in mind, she replied: “Not yet, but soon.”

Earlier this week, Nicole claimed Joel has no say in their forthcoming nuptials.

The Good Charlotte rocker admitted Nicole is the one in charge of the plans, saying: “It’s the same thing as our engagement, we’re kind of doing it at our own pace. We have no idea right now.”

Nicole – who revealed their engagement last month – then quipped: “Like he has any say.”

The Good Charlotte rocker has decided to grow a full beard and will not shave until next year, after polling fans online.

He initially posted on his twitter blog: “Should I shave? I haven’t in five weeks.”

Later, after being flooded with replies, he added: “OK, so the tweets have spoken – 80 per cent say I should not shave.

“If that is your wish, then I will not shave. But by mid-Jan I should have a beard.”

Joel, 30, later revealed one of the main reasons he isn’t shaving is because Nicole – with who he has two children, daughter Harlow, 22 months and two-month-old son Sparrow  – likes a man with a beard.

He wrote: “Three good reasons why Joel should not shave: 1. It’s November 2. Nicole likes me with a dirty face 3. I’m lazy. (sic)”

Joel recently revealed he gave his son – full name Sparrow James Midnight Madden – an unusual name to purposely make life hard for him.

He said: “My worry raising a son in Hollywood is, what will he have to struggle for? I wanted to give him a name that he’s going to have to stand up for. I love it, I think it’s a beautiful name.”
