Spielberg’s Views On Film-Making
by Alice on Jul.02, 2011, under Director
Steven Spielberg likes to make films the “old-fashioned way”
The ‘E.T.’ director began making movies as a child and believes many people can now make films by even using a mobile phone to shoot something, but he prefers older forms of filmmaking.
He said: “All kids have to do these days is take their cellphone, flip it open and make a movie, but I like the way it started. “It wasn’t a point-and-click art form, it was a craft. It involved solvents, photo-chemistry, cutting out poster board with industrial scissors and getting your fingers fused with Elmer’s glue.
“It was all homemade stuff. If I was a chef, a microwave would be my worst enemy. I would want to do it the old-fashioned way”. His love of cinema started when his father used to take a camera on holiday with them as a child.
He explained to Empire magazine: “My dad used to film our camping trips. He’d put the camera outside the window as we were driving along, and all you’d see was a blurring, brown motion of the Arizona desert streaking past. It got to the point where I begged him to be the videographer.”

George Lucas — End Of Days
by Lisa on Jan.20, 2011, under Entertainment, updates
‘Star Wars’ creator George Lucas believes the world will end in 2012
The 66-year-old filmmaker revealed his apocalypse theory to Seth Rogen during a meeting.
And the ‘Green Hornet’ actor insists Lucas has faith in his prediction.
Rogen is quoted by the Toronto Sun newspaper as saying: “George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012. Like, for real. He thinks it.”
As well as Rogen and Lucas, Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg – who created the ‘Indiana Jones’ films with Lucas – was also present at the meeting but is less convinced by his friend’s claims.
Rogen added: “George is going on about the tectonic plates and all the time Spielberg is, like, rolling his eyes, like, ‘My nerdy friend won’t shut up, I’m sorry.’
“I first thought George was joking … and then I totally realised he was serious and then I started thinking, ’If you’re George Lucas and you actually think the world is gonna end in a year, there’s no way you haven’t built a spaceship for yourself … So I asked him … ’Can I have a seat on it?’ He claimed he didn’t have a spaceship, but there’s no doubt there’s a Millennium Falcon in a garage somewhere with a pilot just waiting to go … It’s gonna be him and Steven Spielberg and I’ll be blown up like the rest of us.”

Young Werewolf Taylor Lautner DATING Again
by Lisa on Jan.07, 2011, under Actor
Taylor Lautner’s new romance is continuing to grow
The 18-year-old hunk has been quietly dating 21-year-old actress Lily Collins – whose father is ‘In The Air Tonight’ singer Phil Collins – for several months and though it is still early days between the two, pals expect their relationship to progress when they begin promoting their new movie ‘Abduction’ together.
A source told gossip website PopEater: “They appear to be seeing each other, but it’s too early to see what will happen because they are both young. They make a cute couple. Once ‘Abduction’ is released this fall, they will be spending even more time together promoting it.”
Though they have not yet confirmed their relationship, Taylor reportedly met Lily’s hard-to-please father late last year and was delighted to get the seal of approval.
A source said in November: “Phil is pretty tough on the guys Lily introduces him to. But they got along well.”
The pair were first romantically linked in July, when it was reported Taylor had seduced his co-star on the set of ‘Abduction’ by “constantly flashing his shirtless six pack,” despite her having a boyfriend.
A source said at the time: “Lily told pals that she wasn’t looking to fall in love, but soon realised she had strong romantic feelings.
“Taylor was smitten from day one, but Lily let him know she was in a relationship with a stuntman who was working on a Steven Spielberg movie in New Mexico. When the boyfriend got suspicious because Lily didn’t return calls promptly, he hopped a plane and turned up unannounced to confront her.”
“best actor in the world” Pete Postlethwaite Passed Away @ 65
by Alice on Jan.03, 2011, under Actor, Death
Pete Postlethwaite has died aged 65
The British actor – who last year appeared in blockbuster movies ‘Inception’ and ‘The Town’ – passed away yesterday (02.01.11) after a long battle with cancer at a hospital in Shropshire, England, his friend, journalist Andrew Richardson confirmed.
He had continued working despite receiving treatment for testicular cancer in 1991, and his family have requested privacy.
Legendary director Steven Spielberg – who worked with Pete on ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’ – has previously called the star the “best actor in the world”, something he later joked about.
Commenting on the accolade, Pete said: “I’m sure what Spielberg actually said was, ‘the thing about Pete is that he thinks he’s the best actor in the world’.”
Pete – who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in 1993 movie ‘Name of the Father’ – is survived by his wife of seven years Jacqui and two children William and Lily.

The ‘Twilight’ actor is said to have been romancing the 21-year-old actress for “almost four months” after meeting on the set of their forthcoming movie ‘Abduction’.
Since finishing the movie, Taylor is now working in Louisiana on ‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ and according to Us Weekly magazine, Lily “plans on hanging out there a lot.”
The pair were first romantically linked in July, when it was reported the 18-year-old actor had seduced his co-star on the set of the film by “constantly flashing his shirtless six pack,” despite her having a boyfriend.

Shia LaBeouf — “dropped the ball on a legacy”…?
by Abbey on Sep.29, 2010, under Actress, Director, Entertainment, Films
Shia LaBeouf has blasted his film ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ for “dropping the ball”
The actor felt the film – the fourth instalment in the adventures of the titular archaeologist, directed by Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg and also starring Harrison Ford – didn’t live up to the legacy of the previous movies.
Despite the film’s huge box office success – it took over £500 million – Shia was worried his current project ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’, the sequel to ‘Wall Street’, could suffer the same critical mauling.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I had already been involved in a movie where I felt we had dropped the ball on a legacy, and I was part of it.
“And then you jump into a situation with heavier hitters, just a stronger legacy. You drop the ball twice and it’s over for you.
“In ‘Indiana Jones…’ I felt sort of pigeon-holed. I didn’t have enough meat to chew on, and I was put there for reasons.
“It was like we were trying to enforce innocence on an audience that was not willing. You cannot enforce this.”
Shia is fast becoming one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, but he is determined not to get complacent in his film choices and performances like some other stars.
He added: “I am not where I want to be at. And I hope I will never go to the (Robert) De Niro stage where I’ve gotten there and I am comfortable. Because that’s the death of an actor.”
