Demi Lovato has reportedly been dating Ryan Phillippe

The 18-year-old singer and actress is said to have been seeing ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ actor in the last few months, but things cooled since he became a father with his ex-girlfriend, Alexis Knapp, two weeks ago.

A source told the E! news service: “It was really hot and heavy for a while,” but added Demi wasn’t aware Ryan, 36, was to become a father for the third time “until it basically happened. It kind of threw her for a loop.”

Ryan – who also has two children, Ava Elizabeth, 11, and Deacon Reese, seven, with ex-wife Reece Witherspoon – was with Alexis when she gave birth to a daughter, who she has named Kai.

A spokesperson for the 21-year-old actress said, however: “She has never asked Ryan for any help, nor does she expect it.” Ryan, who dated Alexis in 2010, has been supporting her in the later stages of her pregnancy, although he is said to be waiting for the results of a paternity test to prove if he is the father.

A source said: “He is a good father, and whether this is his baby or not, he wants to do the right thing and be supportive.” Ryan also had an on/off relationship with actress Amanda Seyfried earlier this year.

Alexis Knapp — the model/actress who claims to be carrying Ryan’s baby — has hired Mark Vincent Kaplan.

Ryan has said he’ll take a DNA test once the baby is born and support the child if it’s his, but Alexis is not satisfied.

And here’s a fun fact. Kaplan repped K-Fed in his divorce/custody battle with Britney Spears. And guess who repped Britney? None other than disso-queen Laura Wasser, who now represents Ryan Phillippe.

Reese Witherspoon thinks having children stopped her from being self-obsessed.

The 34-year-old actress – who has two children, 11-year-old daughter Ava and seven-year-old son Deacon, with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe – believes being a young mother changed her perspective and made her less focused on her career.

She said: “My children are the best part of my day. I used to be very competitive and aggressive but when I had my first child at 22, it put my whole life in perspective and helped me get out of my very narrow-minded focus on my career. Having kids stops the endless cycle of self-obsession.”

The ‘Water for Elephants’ actress recently got engaged to Hollywood agent Jim Toth – who she met just months after ending her two-year relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal in late 2009 and Reese feels “lucky” to have got another chance at love.

She told Closer magazine: “I am lucky I’ve had a few shots getting second chances. That’s nice. I thought I knew everything about love and relationships in my 20s – the ignorance of youth is bliss.

“As you get older, you start to realise that you don’t really know anything and life is a great travelling journey. Life is unexpected – you just never know what’s going to happen. I would love to have more kids.”

The Oscar-winning actress also admitted she would rather people praised her sense of humour rather than her looks.

She said: “I always say funny doesn’t sag, which seems like a good rule of thumb. People should be more interested in your personality than how you look in a bikini. As an actress, you think about longevity, probably more than men. You hope to have a long lasting career.”

Reese Witherspoon has got engaged.

The ‘Walk the Line’ actress – who has two children, Ava, 11, and seven-year-old Deacon, with former husband Ryan Phillippe – has announced plans to marry Hollywood agent Jim Toth after almost a year of dating.

Her representative confirmed to UsMagazine.com: “They are engaged and extremely happy.”

News of the couple’s engagement is said to be supported by the 34-year-old beauty’s children.

One insider said: “Ava and Deacon are happy with him.”

Earlier this month, Jim fuelled engagement rumours when he was spotted visiting a number of high-profile jewellers in California, including the world-famous Harry Winston in Beverly Hills, looking for the perfect band to propose with.

A source said: “He was looking for something pretty big, around three or four carats. Reese probably wouldn’t wear anything larger than that since she’s not showy. Price wasn’t an issue.”

A friend of the agent revealed he was serious about Reese from the beginning.

The pal said; “Jim knows Reese is the one for him. It’s what he’s been waiting for. Getting engaged is a natural step for them.”

Reese and Jim began dating last January, months after the actress ended her two-year relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.

She split from former husband Ryan in 2006 after seven years of marriage.

The 34-year-old actress – who was previously married to Ryan Phillippe and dated Jake Gyllenhaal - worked alongside the British hunk on the set of new movie ‘Water for Elephants’ and believes the hype around him is justified as he is very good looking.

She said: “The only thing I can compare it to is when Leonardo DiCaprio was in ‘Titanic’. It was that kind of fervour about a person. The women lining up outside the set – it was unbelievable – till 5 o’clock in the morning waiting to just glimpse him.

“He’s extraordinarily attractive, I’m not gonna lie! Every day there would be like, 50 people staked out. There would be people camped out in the hallways of our hotel. All day, all night long, it didn’t matter. People were there to try to catch a glimpse.”

However, the blonde beauty believes the best thing about the 24-year-old star – who is believed to be dating his ‘Twilight’ co-star Kristen Stewart – is he is a hard worker who is not “a bad boy”.

She told MTV News: “Robert is such a great guy from a great family. That’s the thing that’s so funny. He’s not really this bad boy, he’s just a great guy and really worked hard on ‘Water for Elephants’. We really worked long hours, long days. He looks totally different in the movie.”

Reese Witherspoon has bought Steven Segal’s former house for $7 million

The Oscar-winning actress is moving out of the marital home she shared with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe - who she split from in 2007 and with whom she has two children, daughter Ava, 11, and seven-year-old son Deacon – and is heading to the lavish Los Angeles property which belonged to the action star.

The property is located in a gated community in the Brentwood area of the city and boasts seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a swimming pool.

The 6,125 sq ft home is located on acres of plush land and also comes complete with its own Buddhist temple – which ‘Under Siege’ actor Segal, a committed Buddhist, used for meditation.

Reese’s new neighbours include a host of famous names, such as talk show host Chelsea Handler, actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gisele Bundchen and her husband Tom Brady.

It looks like Heidi Klum and her husband Seal are set to become new residents as well.

The couple reportedly had an offer accepted for a property located in the same Brentwood Country Estates gated community in Mandeville Canyon worth $13.4 million.

The house boasts eight bedrooms, a kitchen complete with a fireplace dating back to 1603 which was imported from Scotland and a library fireplace which is allegedly from late military leader Napoleon’s farmhouse in France.

The actress – whose three-year relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal ended in December – was pictured smiling as she got into a car with Hollywood agent Jim Toth last night (24.02.10), but promptly covered her face as she realised they had been spotted by photographers.

The 33-year-old star – who has children Ava, ten, and six-year-old Deacon  with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe – was seen out two weeks ago with Jim at Locanda Portofino restaurant in Los Angeles, but are believed to have been on “at least ten” low-key dates prior to their public outing.

Onlookers said the pair were “very flirtatious” and “very happy” during the meal.

A source said: “They were very flirtatious throughout dinner. They were having a lot of fun, totally getting along and laughing and talking the whole dinner. Reese seemed very happy. The mood was upbeat and really good.

“As they left, Reese reached around his neck and pulled him close for a hug. They kissed bye on the cheek – but it was a very friendly goodbye.”

Friends say Jim is ready to settle down but is not placing any pressure on Reese as he knows she’s recently come out of a serious relationship.

One said: “He’s reassessed his life. He suffered a loss last year -the death of his father – and Jim feels it’s time to settle down. He’s definitely grown up from his younger days as a cocky agent.”
