Nicole Scherzinger always goes to see her lover Lewis Hamilton compete in his Formula 1 races.

The pop star and the former world champion driver both have hectic work schedules but they are both prepared to travel around the world to see each other, and Nicole loves to see Lewis when he is driving.

The 26-year-old sportsman said: “We’ve made it three years now. We’re having to do a lot of travelling, she’s coming to see me at races.

“The thing is her schedule is always changing whereas mine is usually the same. She’s coming to my race which is coming up.”

Lewis – who voices a character called Hamilton in upcoming animated film ‘Cars 2′ – also revealed he and Nicole, 32, also rely on technology to stay in touch.

Speaking at the L’Oreal Paris National Movie Awards at London’s Wembley Arena earlier this week, he added: “We email and text each other.”

Nicole Scherzinger has been confirmed as the host of the US version of ‘The X Factor’

The 32-year-old singer will work on the show alongside Welsh presenter Steve Jones, music boss Simon Cowell has revealed, and he says the pair will be a “great” combination.

He added: “These two are going to be great together. I have always wanted Steve to work with us; I think he is a real star.

“Nicole is fantastic. I loved working with her on the UK ‘X Factor’ last year. She is gorgeous and super-talented.”

The ‘Poison’ hitmaker – who worked on the UK show as a temporary judge during the audition phase – is “thrilled” at the development and “excited” to be working with newcomer Steve.

She added: “I am thrilled to be asked by Simon Cowell to host ‘The X Factor’. I loved working alongside Simon on the UK show and cannot wait to see what he has in store for the US. I’m so excited to work with Steve Jones and help discover astounding talent from across the country.”

So far Simon has confirmed singer Cheryl Cole and record producer L.A. Reid will join him on the show as judges, and Paula Abdul is expected to be confirmed as the fourth when auditions begin later today (08.05.11).

Nicole Scherzinger has been signed up to host the US version of ‘The X Factor’

Simon Cowell has reportedly signed up the former Pussycat Dolls singer – who is managed by his rival, ‘American Idol’ boss Simon Fuller – to present the show after negotiating a deal with Nicole’s American label CAA to ensure she has a clear schedule when the series launches later in the year.

However, with the 32-year-old beauty originally tipped for a role on the judging panel of the US ‘X Factor’, her “natural” ability in front of the camera convinced the 51-year-old music mogul to offer her the coveted hosting job instead.

An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Never has there been so much behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing as with ‘X Factor’ USA. “Having lined up Nicole as a potential judge, Simon decided to try something different and unexpected, and have a non-mainstream presenter present.

“Nicole’s had screen tests and is a natural in front of the camera. Autocue does not faze her at all. As an established singer, both as a solo artist and in a group, Nicole will be great with the contestants and knows what she is talking about.

“The approach was made a few weeks ago. And although she has still not formally signed, it’s all looking very positive.”

With Nicole having bagged the presenting job, Simon is still attempting to convince Fox bosses to sign up Cheryl Cole for the judging panel, amid concerns the ‘Promise This’ singer is relatively unknown in the US.

The source added: “On the judging front, things are changing almost daily, but Simon has put his neck on the line to sell Cheryl to network bosses. After being stonewalled initially, Simon believes he has convinced them to sign off her deal.”

Simon and record producer L.A. Reid are the only judges confirmed to appear on the panel so far, while Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul have all been linked to the two female roles.

An as-of-yet-unnamed male star will also co-host the series alongside Nicole.

The ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ hitmaker – who is dating British racing driver Lewis Hamilton – doesn’t rate her body highly, and doesn’t like her feet, worn down as a result of strenuous dance routines. She said: “I’m not really fit right now and exercise is very important. When I work really hard I can feel like a perfect 10 when I’m all cosy and wrapped up in bed.

“My least sexy body bits are my dancer’s feet. I don’t have bunions but then can get a little dry. They’re not soft and supple.” However, the 32-year-old singer is not worried about ageing because she has a young spirit keeping her outlook fresh.

The ‘Burlesque’ star was given the prestigious task of performing the Star-Spangled Banner to open the proceedings ahead of the NFL showpiece game in Texas but shocked onlookers with her mistake.

Instead of the correct line “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?” the 30-year-old singer repeated an earlier line with a slight variation, singing “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.”

Now Christina has released an apologetic statement saying: “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

The singer’s celebrity pals were quick to take to twitter to defend her with Nicole Scherzinger, who attended the game writing : “Xtina just killed it ’sangin’! Sounded amazing here,” and Black Eyed Peas will.i,am saying”Xtina sing’n wonderful (sic).”

Meanwhile, the Black Eyed Peas delighted the crowd with their 10-minute halftime display, playing a number of their biggest hits before being joined by Slash and Usher.

She said:” It’s inevitable that any girl group who are breathing the same airspace 24/7 are going to bicker. But I think we handled it well and were respectful towards each other.”

Nicole – the last member to depart the group – admits she has no idea why so many of the girls left the band but says she respects their choices and is glad they took the opportunity to “find” themselves.

She said: “Girl power is about finding yourself as a woman. Obviously a lot of them then wanted to branch off and do their own thing and that’s wonderful.”

Although the Pussycat Dolls originally started off as a lap dancing group in Los Angeles, Nicole thinks her talent and that of her bandmates helped fans to forget their roots.

She said: “The group had existed before as a dance group. Then they hired myself and Melody to come and record. I was really proud of my part in making the music.

Nicole Scherzinger swears diets don’t work.

The Pussycat Dolls singer – who is renowned for her stunning slender figure – has tried a number of different strict eating plans but is unable to restrain her urges to eat calorific treats once she relaxes her food rules.

She said: “I’ve tried every diet out there and they don’t work, because eventually the diet ends and I want the foods that I restrain myself from eating. “It’s about having everything in moderation as long as you’re staying active. I also try not to eat late at night, not after 7pm if I can help it.”

Nicole Scherzinger has her own flag

The ‘Don’t Cha’ singer – who rose to fame in Pussycat Dolls – said a group of Portuguese fans who follow her around the world have designed their own flag in tribute to her.

Nicole, 32, explained: “I have these fans from Portugal and a couple of times they have travelled around the world to follow me, and one time they brought this Portuguese flag.

“They make me feel so special when they are holding up a huge flag of their country with my face and name on it. It’s like I’ve got my own country! Well, I have my own flag at least.”

Nicole is of mixed heritage herself, and although she grew up in the US, her biological mother was of Russian and Hawaiian descent and her father of Filipino heritage. The Scherzinger part of her name comes from her stepfather, who is German-American.

Nicole added: “I most associate with the Hawaiian part. That’s where I was born. My family still live there. The best part of being Hawaiian is the food.

The Pussycat Dolls singer and the British pop star – who is currently a judge on the British version of the reality TV contestant – are set to team up with music mogul Simon Cowell as he launches the singing competition in the US.

It is believed Cheryl is preparing to quit her role on the panel of the British version to make her move to Los Angeles permanent.

Cheryl Cole is refusing to see her Girls Aloud bandmates while she recovers from malaria.

The singer has banned her closest pals in the group, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, from visiting her in hospital because she doesn’t want them to see her so ill.

The weak star will only allow her mother Joan Callaghan and Derek Hough – who she is rumoured to be dating – to sit by her bedside as she recovers from the potentially fatal tropical disease.

A source said: “Cheryl doesn’t want people to see her as she is.”

After being rushed to a London hospital two weeks ago, the 27-year-old pop star has now been moved the tropical diseases ward to her own private room, and is said to be much happier.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: “She was delighted to get some privacy. She is still extremely frail and drifting in and out of sleep, but she has shown great signs of improvement.”

Cheryl is likely to remain in hospital under observation until the end of July – but Simon Cowell says she wants to be back on the British version of his pop star search show ‘The X Factor’ for the boot camp stage.

He said last night (13.07.10): “I had a text from her. She says she is better and feeling perky.

The Pussycat Dolls singer – who rekindled her romance with the Formula One racing driver earlier this month – realised things needed change if they wanted it to work so came up with rules, which include spending quality time together.

A source told Britain’s Hello! magazine: “The reason they split in January was because they were hardly spending any time together, but crucially they never fell out of love. It was just before Valentine’s Day during a tearful heart-to-heart that they decided to give their relationship another go.

“Nicole agreed after laying down strict guidelines to put more romance into their relationship. One of those was that she didn’t want any interruptions when they dine out, meaning Lewis agreed to leave his BlackBerry at home. “I don’t know what’s next for the Pussycat Dolls. The creator, a lady called Robin Antin, decides what we do and there’s not been any news so far.

“Right now, I like that someone other than the Pussycat Dolls is paying my bills! I’m enjoying getting out there and doing all the things I want to do.”

The Pussycat Dolls singer has been dating the British Formula One ace for nearly three years, but they have reportedly not seen each other in three weeks and shelved plans to spend Christmas together.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Lewis and Nicole have had a few problems for a while now. They love each other dearly but have incredibly busy schedules.

“Nicole was in London last week and was desperate to hook up with Lewis but she was busy in the studio while he is on a European training camp and couldn’t come back.

“Hopefully after a month apart, they will come to their senses and give things another go.”

Despite the claims, a spokesperson for Lewis insisted the couple are “perfectly fine”.

Meanwhile, Nicole recorded the theme song to forthcoming musical ‘Love Never Dies’ – the sequel to the hugely popular ‘Phantom of the Opera’, by composer Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber – while in London.

A source said: “Andrew is a huge fan of Nicole and her voice. He has always said she could become one of the biggest stars on the planet with the right songs.”

The girl band have been surrounded by rumours they are splitting, but choreographer Robin Antin – who founded the group in its first incarnation as a dance troupe in 1995 – insists they are continuing but with fresh faces joining lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.

She told MTV: “Nicole is going back in the studio. We’re working on new music right now. There will be a few new faces in the Pussycat Dolls. I’ve been really putting that out there. I’m really excited about it. Inside every girl, inside every woman, is a Pussycat Doll and I always want to bring in new faces to really show that.

“The Pussycat Dolls are not breaking up. I’m the creator of the Pussycat Dolls and I own the brand. I would be the one to say, ‘OK, it’s over.’ But it’s so not.”

Robin wouldn’t reveal who of the current line-up – Nicole, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton – might be leaving but insists a change of faces will invigorate the group.

She added: “It’s Nicole and a couple new faces. Some of the girls want to go and do their own thing. We’re moving on. We’re excited. We’re looking at new girls. It’s phase three of the Pussycat Dolls because we did our first album, our second album and now we’re going on to our third. We’re touring … a lot is coming up.”
