David and Victoria Beckham are set to move to New York

The superstar couple currently live in Los Angeles – where David plays soccer for Los Angeles Galaxy – but also have homes in their native London and the South of France and are now set to splash out on a luxurious Manhattan home as fashion designer Victoria wants to be there for her work.

Victoria reportedly told a friend: “My work is so important to me and LA just isn’t a real fashion city.”

A source added to Now magazine: “Her friendship group in LA has disbanded and David was travelling a lot more than she’d anticipated and so was she. It just seemed to make sense for her to be based in fashion capital New York. It’s closer to London and Europe for her business meetings.”

However, David still has a contract with his club so the couple – who have three sons together – will keep their Beverly Hills home, which he will use as base while playing.

The source continued: “David’s used to flying a lot but this will be the first time he’s been permanently based so far from his team. If he has a few games in a row, he’ll stay in Los Angeles. This isn’t a decision they’ve come to lightly. They still like LA and have no plans to sell their home there but being based in Hollywood doesn’t appeal to them anymore and they feel it’s time for a change.”

Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal spent Thanksgiving together in New York

The 20-year-old country singer and the movie star hunk were spotted in a coffee shop in Brooklyn yesterday (25.11.10) close to where the actor’s older sister Maggie Gyllenhaal lives.

An onlooker told gossip website JustJared.com: “They asked one of the coffee shop employees for help picking out beans. They both seemed super nice and wound up ordering lattes.”

Along with spending part of Thanksgiving with Jake, Taylor also made time to see her family yesterday but admitted the entertainment in their house was limited.

She tweeted: “Why, at my family gatherings, do we always have to end up YouTubing funny cat videos.. (sic)”

Rumours about the new couple have been circulating since they were spotted holding hands and looking loved-up while on a romantic walk around the same area of New York last month.

A source said at the time: “Taylor and Jake were walking around Park Slope holding hands. They looked like a couple!”

Along with spending Thanksgiving together, Jake is reported to have recently spent £100,000 flying Taylor to London where he was promoting a movie.

The ‘Brokeback Mountain’ actor – who was in the British capital for a press conference for ‘Love And Other Drugs’ earlier this month- flew the country music star in by private jet and the pair were said to be holed up in London’s exclusive Dorchester hotel for two days.

Jake split from actress Reese Witherspoon last December after more than two years together while Taylor has dated ‘Twilight’ actor Taylor Lautner and Disney star Joe Jonas in the past.

The former couple – who split up in November 2006 after the ‘Alfie’ star had an affair with his children’s nanny – fuelled speculation they have rekindled their romance during a visit to New York nightspot The Box on Thursday (19.11.09) where their intimate behaviour attracted attention.

One onlooker said: “They came in together and got a table with a few friends around 1am. At one point, Jude ordered shots for the two of them, and he was egging her on to take one. They were laughing a lot and whispering to each other – it looked like they were genuinely having a good time.

“They certainly looked like more than just friends.”

During the evening, Jude – who is currently starring in a Broadway production of ‘Hamlet’ – was approached by several women but was quick to turn down their advances.

The source added to the New York Daily News newspaper: “Jude’s a regular at The Box and a lot of people know him there so he had a ton of people coming up to say hi to him, many of them female, but he really only seemed interested in Sienna. It looked like he wanted people to see that they were together.”

Sienna, who is starring in Broadway production of ‘After Miss Julie’, recently quashed speculation she and Jude had got back together, admitting they had met up while both working in the US but insisted they are just friends.

The 25-year-old star played murderess Roxie Hart in the London West End version of the musical and is now reprising the part in New York’s famous theatre district.

Ashlee starts her run on November 30 and admits she can’t wait to tread the boards once again.

She said: “I’m honoured to be reprising my role as Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast. Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true.”

Big sister Jessica, 29, is thrilled Ashlee has landed the part after her disappointment of being axed from US TV series ‘Melrose Place’ last month.

Jessica wrote on her Twitter page: “I can’t wait to watch Ash’ on Broadway in all of her glory!!! I get chillbumps from toes to noggin thinking about it!!! YAY!!!! (sic)”

The 39-year-old rapper is producing ‘Fela!’ – a play based on the life of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who is credited as one of the founders of afrobeat and who died in 1997 – with Hollywood couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Jay-Z – whose artistic involvement is thought to be minimal given that the show is already in previews – has not publicly revealed how much money he has invested in the production.

Jay-Z, Will and Jada will be making an appearance on the red carpet when the show opens at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, in New York, next Monday (23.11.09).

‘Fela!’ is directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winning star Bill T. Jones, and music for the show has been arranged by the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra.

The actress – who has two daughters, Rowan, six, and three-year-old Grier, with husband Chris Henchy – suffered from severe post-natal depression and didn’t think her life was worth carrying on with.

Speaking about Rowan’s birth – which followed a miscarriage and seven IVF attempts – Brooke said: “I finally had a healthy beautiful baby girl and I couldn’t look at her. I couldn’t hold her and I couldn’t sing to her and I couldn’t smile at her… All I wanted to do was disappear and die.

“I should not exist. The baby would be better off without me. Life was never going to get better – so I better just go.”

Brooke, 44, was prescribed medication for her depression but stopped taking it, thinking she didn’t need it, which resulted in almost fatal consequences.

Speaking on Monday (16.11.09) in New York, where she was receiving an advocacy award from the Hope for Depression Research Foundation, Brooke revealed to People magazine: “That was the week I almost did not resist driving my car straight into a wall on the side of the freeway. My baby was in the back seat and that even p***ed me off because I thought she’s even ruining this for me. I just wanted to drive into the wall and my friend stayed on the phone with me until I got home safely.”

Brooke later called her doctor to ask for more help, and was eventually diagnosed with a chemical imbalance.

She revealed: “I learned what was going on inside my body and what was going on inside my brain. I learned I wasn’t doing anything wrong to feel that way. That it was actually out of my control.”

She is quoted by gossip website Absolute Now as saying: “I just finished writing a script and I am trying to get funding and casting for it, believe it or not.

“It’s called ‘We’ and it’s a love story. It is two parallel love stories told from a woman’s point of view, obviously. One is a historical story that took place with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. And the other is one I made up about a couple in New York.”

The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer has promised to flash her flesh while presenting tonight’s (05.11.09) MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) after her British boyfriend persuaded her to let down her guard.

She said: “I will be especially naughty under Russell’s influence. I’ve worn things recently that aren’t appropriate for this – sorry mom, sorry dad.”

Katy – who is returning as presenter of the awards after impressing bosses last year – also admitted she won’t be concerned if she exposes her breasts in any of her revealing outfits in Berlin tonight.

She added: “MTV asked me back because I have this no fear attitude. I don’t care if I do fall over or if a boob does fall out.

“I’ve gone for less costume changes this year but less clothing too. It’s all a bit naughtier, with lace, crystals and lots of boobie things. It’s sexy. I’m highlighting what God gave me – what mama made.”

While Katy, 25, insists it is the ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ star who has brought out her naughty side, friends of the 34-year-old comic insist they are equally daring and provocative, which is why their relationship works so well.

British comedian David Walliams, a close friend of the star, said: “Normally Russell’s girlfriends are following him around totally in awe of him, but he is following her around totally in awe.

“But I can understand that because Katy is absolutely knockout gorgeous and really funny, really provocative and naughty. He has met his match.”

Katy and Russell, 34, were first romantically linked after the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) two months ago when they were seen kissing at Lady Gaga’s after-party at New York nightspot Avenue.

The ‘Easy Rider’ actor has now cancelled all his travel plans as he focuses on getting treatment through a “special programme” at the University of Southern California.

His manager Sam Maydew added: “We’re hoping for the best.”

The 73-year-old star had to cancel an appearance at Melbourne’s Australian Centre for the Moving Image, where a collection of his artwork and photography – ‘Dennis Hopper and the New Hollywood’ – is being shown.

Last month, Dennis was released from a New York hospital after being treated for dehydration.

It was initially reported the 73-year-old star was suffering from flu-like symptoms, but further details of his illness were not been released.

Dennis fell ill in New York while promoting his new TV series ‘Crash’, which is based on the 2004 Oscar-winning movie about racial and social tensions in Los Angeles of the same name. He plays music producer Ben Cendars.
