Congrats 2 MAma Natalie

by Kavy on Jun.15, 2011, under Mother

Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman has become a mother for the first time

The Oscar-winning actress – who is engaged to choreographer Benjamin Millepied – gave birth to a baby boy, although no further details have been released.

The couple met on the set of ‘Black Swan’ and while they were thrilled at the news Natalie was expecting, she recently revealed they refused to buy any baby stuff until the tot arrived because of her Jewish upbringing.

She said: “I think it’s a Jewish thing to be kind of superstitious. You don’t do any of the baby stuff before the baby arrives.”

However, one thing Natalie did do during her pregnancy was give up veganism.

The 30-year-old star became vegetarian when she was eight, and further eliminated all animal products from her diet in 2009, but re-introduced dairy to her diet since falling pregnant.

She said: “I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff.

“I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff. I know there are people who do stay vegan, but I think you have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels and supplement those if there are things you might be low in your diet.”

Throughout her pregnancy Natalie paid tribute to her parents Avner and Shelley Hershlag, saying she hoped to look after her child in the same way that she was brought up.

She said: “If I am a shadow as good a parent, an echo, then I will be the best in the world, so thank you.”

IS Natalie Portman A Germaphobe?

by Kavy on Mar.20, 2011, under Actress

Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman has become obsessed with germs

The ‘Black Swan’ actress – who is expecting her first child with fiance Benjamin Millepied this summer – reportedly carries hand sanitizer everywhere she goes as a precautionary measure to prevent herself from catching any unwanted bugs in the lead-up to the birth of her baby.

An insider explained: “She’s become a bit of a germaphobe. She carries hand sanitizer everywhere she goes and doesn’t like to shake hands or stand to close to people.” However, the 29-year-old actress’ fiance – who she met on the set of ‘Black Swan’, which he choreographed – is supporting Natalie’s new found germ obsession and even rushed out to buy a humidifier for the couple’s Los Angeles home.

The source added to National Enquirer magazine: “Ben’s been great. He humours Natalie.” Natalie is not the only star to become a “germaphobe” after falling pregnant. Shortly after Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins Max and Emme in 2008, it was reported she had installed dispensers containing a special hand lotion for people to use before they entered the babies’ nursery.

Jennifer and husband Marc Anthony are said to be so concerned about microscopic nasties they also request guests put on surgical masks before meeting the tots. Gwyneth Paltrow – who is married to Coldplay star Chris Martin – wouldn’t let anyone handle her children when they were babies unless they used a special soap beforehand to rid themselves of dirt. She also insisted visitors remove their shoes before entering her London home.

Natalie Portman’s Challenging Role

by Abbey on Mar.19, 2011, under Actress

Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman thinks she should have checked into rehab after filming ‘Black Swan’

The 29-year-old star won a Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal as a disturbed ballerina in the movie, but admits it was such a challenging role, both physically and mentally, she should have taken some proper time out to recover afterwards instead of starting work on ‘Thor’.

She said: “I loved Darren Aronofsky and working with him was a deeply fulfilling experience but I just showed up for ‘Thor’ spent.

“I probably should have gone into rehab.”

Natalie – who is currently expecting her first child with fiance Benjamin Millepied – was thrilled to work with director Kenneth Branagh on ‘Thor’ because she has always been of his work.

She added in an interview with Total Film magazine: “I must have watched ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ about 500 times, I love that film so much.

“He was one of the first people I’ve met that I was excited about when I met them. When I worked with him, it exceeded my expectations.”

Natalie Portman – Fifth actress To Pick Up Oscars While Pregnant

by cyan on Feb.28, 2011, under Actress

Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman paid tribute to her “beautiful love” Benjamin Millepied as she was named Best Actress at the Oscars last night (27.02.11).

The 29-year-old star – who is pregnant with her and her fiance’s first child – received the accolade for her role as troubled ballerina Nina Sayers in ‘Black Swan’ and thanked the choreographer for changing her life with the movie.

Showing off her baby bump in a flowing Rodarte gown Natalie – who met Benjamin on the set of ‘Black Swan’ – said: “Thank you to my beautiful love Benjamin Millepied who choreographed the film and has now given me my most important role of my life.”

The former child star – who made her big screen debut in ‘Leon’ in 1994 at the age of just 13 – also paid tribute to her mother and father for always encouraging her to act, saying: “I want to thank my parents. First and foremost for giving me my life. And for the opportunity to work at such a young age.”

Despite her victory, Natalie is unsure of what her career holds in the future because she now wants to put all efforts into motherhood.

She said: “It’s one of the most exciting things of being pregnant. I’m just accepting that I have no idea, it’s accepting what people go through every day.”

Natalie has become just the fifth actress in Hollywood history to pick up an Academy Award while pregnant.

Eva Marie Saint, Meryl Streep, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Rachel Weisz all won Oscars while expecting.

With Whom Gemma Arterton Wants 2 Work?

With Whom Gemma Arterton Wants 2 Work?Gemma Arterton wants to work with Darren Aronofsky

The ‘Tamara Drewe’ actress cites the director’s ballet thriller ‘Black Swan’ as her favourite movie of the last 12 months and has issued an open plea for her to find a part for him in his next movie.

She said: “I loved ‘Black Swan’ and I’ve always loved Darren Aronofsky. It reminded me of ‘Requiem for a Dream’. And Natalie Portman is incredible in it. I really loved it.”

However Gemma – who has starred in blockbusters ‘Clash of the Titans’ and ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ revealed she finds it difficult to convince her favourite directors to work with her because she is too “mainstream”.

When asked if she would like to work with Darren, she said: “Yes, of course! It always makes me laugh because my favourite directors are quite obscure – Darren Aronofsky, Michael Haneke, Lars Von Trier. But I haven’t got to work with them, I suppose because I’m quite mainstream.”

Gemma also admitted she was surprised to be nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star Award because she considers herself an “old timer”.

She said: “Rising star? I’m a bit of an old-timer now! I only left drama school three years ago so I’m still quite new, but some people might be thinking, ‘Oh no, not her again…

“But I do think it’s right that it’s now, because of the movies I’ve had come out in the last year.”

Review @ A Glance — Black Swan

by Lisa on Jan.09, 2011, under Actor, Actress, Entertainment, Films, Movies

Review @ A Glance -- Black SwanBlack Swan

Addiction has always been a common theme in Darren Aronofsky’s films. Black Swan is no different. Obsessed with perfection, Nina (Natalie Portman), a ballet dancer, struggles immensely when she is given the diverse role of the Swan Queen for the ever famous ballet, Swan Lake.

While she seems ideal for the part, her only fault is in portraying the role of the evil Black Swan. Her strive for perfection creates a whirlwind of frustration, tension, and paranoia that will either make her or break her in this dazzling film. Unlike most of Aronofsky’s films, it is not just a story about obsession and tragedy. He turns the Black Swan into a dark, Gothic horror film that is unlike any other movie this year. Don’t be misguided by it’s feminine appeal; Black Swan is a provocative movie that you won’t be able to get out of your head for days. This film gets two enthusiastic wings up!

Natalie Portman Engaged To Benjamin Millepied

by cyan on Dec.28, 2010, under Actress, Engagement, Marriage

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has announced she is both engaged and pregnant.

The actress is set to wed ballet choreographer Benjamin Millepied, and the couple are also expecting their first child in spring 2011.

Natalie told EW.com: “I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience.”

The pair met on the set of ‘Black Swan’ last year, in which Natalie portrays a troubled ballet dancer and Benjamin – who is classically trained and studied at the School of American Ballet as a teenager – was one of her choreographers on set.

The couple have kept their relationship out of the public eye, and did not even pose together on the red carpet at the film’s premiere, but 32-year-old Benjamin – who was born in France – has revealed he was “blown away” by Natalie’s acting ability and insists she was “amazing to watch”.

Natalie, 29, trained for up to eight hours a day for her role as the character Nina in ‘Black Swan’ and claims living the “monastic” life of a ballet dancer helped her get into the right mindset for the role.

She explained: “You are constantly putting your body through extreme pain, so you get that understanding of the self-flagellation of a ballet dancer.”

Israeli-American Natalie has also previously said she would like to raise her children in the Jewish faith.

She said: “A priority for me is definitely that I’d like to raise my kids Jewish, but the ultimate thing is to have someone who is a good person and a partner.”

Natalie Portman — X-treme X-periences

by Abbey on Nov.29, 2010, under Actress, Entertainment, updates

Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman went through “extreme pain” to understand her character in ‘Black Swan’

The US actress had to live the “monastic” life of a ballet dancer to prepare for the film, and said putting herself through the physical hardships they have to endure helped her to into their right mindset for filming.

She explained: “The physical discipline of it really helped for the emotional side of the character because you get the sense of the monastic lifestyle of only working out, that is a ballet dancer’s life.

“You don’t drink, you don’t go out with your friends, you don’t have much food and you are constantly putting your body through extreme pain, so you get that understanding of the self-flagellation of a ballet dancer.”

The aspect of training for the role which Natalie – who stars as The Swan Queen opposite Mila Kunis as The Black Swan in the film – found hardest was the strict diet she had to adhere to.

The film’s director, Darren Aronofsky said: “There was really no money for the film and we had to push it back a lot of times. I actually don’t mind that, but I only found out recently that Natalie would just be screaming at her manager that she had to live on carrots and almonds for another three weeks. She was the one who suffered the most from not eating.”

Natalie added that as soon as the film had finished shooting she ate pasta “for breakfast, lunch and dinner” to celebrate.

‘Black Swan’ is released throughout Europe in January.

Flying In Love — Taylor Swift & Jake Gyllenhaal

by Lisa on Nov.15, 2010, under Actor, Artist, Entertainment, Love, Singer

Jake GyllenhaalJake Gyllenhaal reportedly spent £100,000 flying new love Taylor Swift to London

The ‘Brokeback Mountain’ actor – who is currently promoting his new movie ‘Love And Other Drugs’ in the British capital – flew the country music star in by private jet on Friday night (12.11.10), and the pair were said to be holed up in London’s exclusive Dorchester hotel until yesterday (14.11.10) morning.

Taylor – who has dated ‘Twilight’ actor Taylor Lautner and Disney star Joe Jonas in the past – was due to be in the city to perform at the Radio 1 Teen Awards yesterday, but jetted in early to see Jake.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Jake wanted some quality time with Taylor. If he Taylor Swifthadn’t done this, they would have missed each other as he had to fly back to the US. He hired a jet which would have easily set him back £100,000.

Rumours about the new couple have been circulating since they were spotted holding hands and looking loved-up while on a romantic walk around Brooklyn, New York, last month.

A source said at the time: “Taylor and Jake were walking around Park Slope holding hands. They looked like a couple!”

Jake – who split from actress Reese Witherspoon last December after more than two years together – has also dated stars including Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst in the past.

Katy Perry Wants To Kiss Natalie Portman

by cyan on Jul.28, 2010, under Singer

The pop star – whose most famous hit is ‘I Kissed A Girl’ – has a crush on the ‘Other Boleyn Girl’ actress and thinks it would be incredible to lock lips with her.

She said: “I used to want to kiss Megan Fox, but now she’s married and I’m not so sure about that anymore. Probably Natalie Portman now -she’s hot and smart.”

Although she would happily kiss Natalie, Katy wouldn’t be comfortable posing naked for Playboy magazine.

The 25-year-old singer is happy to squeeze her sexy figure into skin-tight latex dresses but isn’t prepared to expose it to the world.

When asked if she would strip off for the men’s publication, she said in an interview with YouTube: “I think I would probably say no because that’s like showing all your cards and I always want to keep a couple of aces up my sleeve and, plus, I think there’s a fine line between being a tease and just giving it away. I like to be considered more of a tease, so unfortunately guys you’re never going to get it.”

Katy feels happier with her body now than ever before and credits her relationship with fiance Russell Brand for her confidence.

She explained: “I’m very comfortable with my body now, you know, I’m 25 and I’m like, ‘OK this is what I’ve got.’ And of course I’m very loved-up which helps.”

Russell Brand’s Embarrassing Sexual Encounters

by Alice on Apr.14, 2010, under Actor, Comedian

Russell Brand

Russell Brand’s own embarrassing sexual encounters inspired his new movie.

The British comedian – who has previously battled heroin addiction – reprises his ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ role of troubled rocker Aldous Snow in forthcoming film ‘Get Him To The Greek’ and admits scriptwriters used many of his own experiences for incidents in the film.

He explained: “Because the character is, you know, a heroin addict, and I’m a recovering heroin addict… a really good friend of mine who used to make um, heroin for me, and he didn’t ever want to, which is not nice, to buy heroin, and there’s like scenes in this where I force someone – a reference from my own life.

“Once during a threesome I accidentally ejaculated onto a friend’s leg, and that’s being used in this. So yeah, there are direct references to my own life in this film. Flatteringly.”

Because so many of his own experiences feature in the movie, Russell – who is engaged to Katy Perry – says it has made him rethink plans for a big screen version of his autobiography ‘My Booky Wook’.

He told website JoBlo.com: “Nick Stoller’s sort of stolen all the best bits. If they were to make a movie of my life now, it would be a drab, Warholian, sort of single-shot of me, sobbing in the basin. Which I’m keen to make. So I don’t know if we’ll do that anymore.”

However, if the biopic goes ahead, Russell wants a woman to portray him – actress Natalie Portman.

He added: “Michael Winterbottom was interested in making it and I was of course flattered and thrilled at the idea of working with him, because he’s brilliant, but I think now I’ve got too old to play myself. Of course I’ve been playing myself for so long, someone else should have a go, and I think Natalie Portman is the man for the job.”

Mila Kunis Talks About “nerd heaven” kissing Experiences

by cyan on Dec.03, 2009, under Actress

Mila Kunis

The two actresses share a kiss in the forthcoming ballet dancer drama and Mila – who is dating actor Macaulay Culkin – is already tiring of the attention the scene is attracting, but admits she understands why people are so interested.

She said: “It’s two girls making out and guys have a thing for that – it’s silly but I can see why people care.

“Natalie is like every guy’s dream. She’s a nerd’s idea of heaven.”

Natalie has also spoken out about the scene, saying that it is an “extreme” moment.

She said: “It’s a very extreme movie, it’s like very extreme situations. It’s not explicit in any way.”

While Natalie had no problems locking lips with Mila, she says it was “hard” having to smooch both Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal in her latest movie ‘Brothers’.

She said: “I’ll be murdered if I say who was the better kisser. I’m probably the source of envy for getting to kiss both of those boys. It’s hard to be me.”

The 28-year-old actress also said she is now making a special effort to work on more demanding film roles in a bid to shed her “cute” title and embrace adulthood.

She explained: “I’m trying to find roles that demand more adulthood from me because you can get stuck in a very awful cute cycle as a woman in film – especially being such a small person. I’m a really late bloomer. In my own life, it’s only been the last couple of years where I’m like, I’m an adult.”

Natalie Portman Confessed She Experimented With Smoking Cannabis Joints

by cyan on Dec.03, 2009, under Actress

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has confessed to smoking cannabis.

The actress tried the herbal drug in her 20s because she missed out on the usual experimental teenage experiences because she was making movies from the age of 11.

She confessed: “OK, so I didn’t really go to high school parties and, yeah, I didn’t touch pot until I was in my 20s. I didn’t get flat-out drunk until I went to college. But I think that’s a good thing in many ways.”

But Natalie, 28, has no regrets about starting work at such a young age, saying: “I was definitely working at a young age, but there’s a whole growth in that.”

Natalie – who made her film debut in the critically acclaimed 1994 assassin movie ‘Leon’ – admits her acting career gave her privileges that her high school peers never experienced.

The screen beauty – who stars in new war movie ‘Brothers’, alongside Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal – told Marie Claire magazine said: “I’ve always been the lucky one with the Cinderella-ness of getting to borrow something awesome. Like a little Armani strapless thing I wore to the ‘Star Wars’ premiere and my high school prom.”

Natalie Portman Wants To Start A Family And Become A Mother

by Alice on Dec.02, 2009, under Actress

Natalie Portman

The 28-year-old actress feels she has grown up and is finally responsible enough to settle down and start a family.

She said: “I feel like I’m coming into my womanhood, and I’m less afraid or maybe I’m just getting old. I think about having kids, but I think you can’t plan for that sort of thing. It’s not like you can work at it.”

The ‘Closer’ star recently played “strong” and maternal Grace Cahill in the war drama ‘Brothers’, alongside Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Natalie has reconsidered her views on motherhood since starring in the movie.

She explained: “It was such a fantastic opportunity because so many parts written for females my age are just like the cute, girlish love interest. To get to play a real woman who’s really strong and a good mother was really a great opportunity. It was not that challenging to be mother-ish because I have the most maternal mom in the world. So I’ve had a role model for my entire life.”

Natalie Portman Says Jake Gyllenhaal Is “perfect” In All Respect

by cyan on Nov.24, 2009, under Actor, Actress

Natalie Portman

The actress loved hanging out with the actor – who is dating Reese Witherspoon – while filming their new movie ‘Brothers’ and praised his sense of humour and hair care advice, but insisted she doesn’t find him attractive.

She said: “Jake is the kind of guy who can do a spot-on impression of someone you work with that will make you giggle.

“He knows home remedies for distressed hair. He can build a cabinet from scratch. He plays guitar and has a great voice. Kids and dogs love him. He loves his mom and sister and girlfriend. He’s perfect. Too bad he’s ugly.”

Jake also enjoyed shooting ‘Brothers’, admitting he had wanted to work with Tobey Maguire, who plays his onscreen sibling, for a long time to prove they are not identical looking.

He quipped: “People have very often said to me that I look like Tobey. To all those cab drivers in New York, I’m not Spider-Man!

“We really just made the movie so I could say I look a little different than Tobey.”

Jake also spoke out about the attention he receives when out in public, insisting he will never complain as it comes with being an actor.

He said: “That’s just a little part of this job. It’s a part of the job, and there are days that are easier than other days. In terms of a funny guy jumping out of the corner somewhere and catching a photo of you, I can’t say anything bad about it.”
