Kellan Lutz refused to audition for the role of ‘Twilight’s Edward Cullen because the character is “too depressing”

The hunky actor – who plays Edward’s adopted brother Emmett in the vampire franchise – revealed he was originally asked to try out for the part which eventually went to Robert Pattinson but he turned it down because he wanted a part that made him “smile”.

Kellan explained to JustJared: “I didn’t want to do it. I spent so much time filming in Africa before that, seven months, and that’s a long time to be away from your family and dogs. My agent wanted me to read for Edward and I read the script and thought that character was too depressing for me right now, I want to do something where I smile. I wanted to take a break from acting and I said that, I turned it down, I turned down the audition a couple of times.”

However, Kellan’s agent insisted the film would be career changing and convinced him to audition for the role of big brother Emmett, who Kellan loved for his “comedic” characteristics.

Kellan said: “Ryan, my agent at the time really knew it was going to be a special project so he told me to read the role of Emmett, and I read it, it was only about four lines, but he was the big brother, the comedic relief and I fell in love with him. I said ‘Sure, I would love to play this type of role’. I auditioned, and long story short, here I am finishing the saga and Emmett is going to be in my heart forever.”

Ryan Reynolds has been named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine

The ‘Proposal’ actor – who is married to actress Scarlett Johansson, who was named Babe of the Year by GQ magazine this week – was awarded the title by the publication in their annual list and, although he expects to be teased by his family about the accolade, he is hoping to boast about the title to strangers.

He said: “You just have to go with the flow. This gives my family entre into teasing me for the rest of my life.

“Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage.’ That does sound better. The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers.”

While Ryan has been named Sexiest Man Alive, he admits he has to work hard to maintain his toned physique.

He joked to People: “My body naturally wants to look like Dick Van Dyke. When I stop training, I turn into a skin-coloured whisper.”

Other stars to feature in the list include ‘Mad Men’ actor John Hamm, ‘Twilight Saga’ hunk Kellan Lutz, actor-turned-rapper Drake and ‘Glee’ star Matthew Morrison, who made up the top five.

Making up the rest of the top 10 were Jon Bon Jovi, ‘True Blood’ star Joe Manganiello, Robert Downey Jr. and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Jesse Williams.

Meanwhile, the publication also ran a poll on social networking website Facebook, where fans voted Vin Diesel – who placed eleventh in the magazine’s own list – as their Sexiest Man Alive.

The 43-year-old actor took the title over Jersey Shore’s Paul ‘Pauly D’ DelVecchio and Enrique Iglesias, who polled second and third place respectively.

People will publish its full list of the Sexiest Men Alive in their next issue which hits newsstands on Friday (19.11.10).

Kellan Lutz and AnnaLynne McCord have split

‘90210’ star Annalynne and the ‘Twilight’ actor have decided to end their romance and the pair have already spotted Annalynne getting close to another man over Halloween weekend.

A source told LifeandStylemag.com: “AnnaLynne was getting cosy with model-and-actor Aaron O’Connell while at Veuve Clicquot’s Yelloween at LAVO in Las Vegas.

“They were holding hands and flirting all night. They looked cute together.”

Meanwhile, Kellan was on the other side of the US partying separately at the Borgata casino and hotel over Halloween weekend.

A source said he “definitely seemed like a bachelor”.

The 25-year-old hunk – who plays Emmett Cullen in the ‘Twilight’ series – is also set to be away from Los Angeles based AnnLynne for the next several months as he films ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’.

The couple have had a turbulent relationship from the start, after they were initially spotted kissing on Valentine’s Day in New York in 2009. The pair denied they were an item for most of the last year, before Annalynn – who has also starred in ‘Nip/Tuck’ – admitted in September they were together.

A source added: “They just weren’t compatible, so they are taking a break. AnnaLynne seemed really happy over the weekend. I’m not sure Kellan was the right person for her.”

The ‘Twilight Saga’ dominated the Teen Choice Awards in August picking up an incredible haul of 11 prizes. Robert and Kristen won the Choice Summer Movie Star: Male and Choice Summer Movie Star: Female accolades respectively.

In 2009, he was also named the “Sexiest Man Alive” by Glamour. Ask Men named Rob as one of the top 49 most influential men of 2009. Pattinson was named one of the “Sexiest Men Alive” in 2008 and 2009 by People magazine. In 2009, Vanity Fair named Pattinson “the most handsome man in the world”.

Kellan Lutz’s mother has begged him to give up smoking

The 25-year-old actor – who is best known for portraying Emmett Cullen in the ‘Twilight Saga’ – had to field an angry call from his concerned parent after he was pictured lighting up a cigarette.

She allegedly told the hunk: “You’re a role model for young people. You can’t be smoking those filthy things!”

According to National Enquirer magazine, his concerned mother was then said to ship a package over to Canada – where the actor is currently filming ‘Immortals’ – full of nicotine patches and gum in the hope of helping him get over his cravings for cigarettes.

However, despite a warning note on the package reading, ‘DO THE RIGHT THING!’, Kellan’s fellow cast members have reportedly seen him sneaking in the odd cigarette break on set.

The actor – who appeared in the 2010 Calvin Klein X advertising campaign earlier this year – has previously expressed concern about what his mother thinks of his public image.

Speaking about the raunchy promotional pictures, he said: “My nude a** is going to be all over billboards, we’ll see what my mother thinks.”

Kellan Lutz (born March 15, 1985) is an American film and television actor, who is best known for playing Emmett Cullen in the Twilight series.

Kellan has acted on a number of television shows. He had recurring roles on Model Citizens and The Comeback, and smaller roles in episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful, CSI: NY, Summerland, Six Feet Under, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Heroes. He was also in the films Stick It, Accepted, and Prom Night. Additionally, Kellan has performed on the California stage and was the host of Bravo’s Blow Out.

Kellan also appeared in the 2006 commercial for Hilary Duff’s fragrance With Love… Hilary Duff, and in the 2007 music video for her single, “With Love”. In 2008 he appeared in another music video, Hinder’s “Without You”. In the same year, Kellan also appeared in the miniseries Generation Kill, based on the book by Evan Wright.

Kellan played Emmett Cullen in the film adaptation of the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and reprised his role for the sequel, released in November 2009. Robert Pattinson has been named the world’s sexiest man

The ‘Twilight‘ hunk has topped Glamour’s 50 Sexiest Men poll for the second year running, after fighting off stiff competition from other actors starring in vampire-based productions.

The top five was dominated by ‘Twilight’ actors, with 18-year-old Taylor Lautner – who plays Jacob Black, the werewolf love rival to Robert’s character Edward Cullen in the hit film franchise –in second place, and Xavier Samuel and Kellan Lutz placed fourth and fifth respectively.

The hunky trio were rivalled by ‘The Vampire Diaries’ star Ian Somerhalder, who was voted third in the survey, proving that women can’t get enough of men with fangs.

Glamour’s acting editor Charlotte Duck said: “Women are attracted to vampires because of the element of danger that comes with them. They are the ultimate bad boys – and women want to tame the beasts.”

The list – which was compiled from over 50,000 votes by readers of Glamour.com – also included many shocks, with many attractive stars being placed further down the list than in previous years.

Johnny Depp dropped from second place to sixth, while soccer star David Beckham slipped from fourth down to 21st.

Hollywood legend George Clooney only reached position 35 on the list, while Leonardo DiCaprio, Keanu Reeves and Jude Law- who have scored highly in the survey in recent years – did not even feature.

The ‘Twilight Saga’ dominated the Teen Choice Awards last night (08.08.10) picking up an incredible haul of 11 prizes.

The vampire romance franchise won a total of 11 prizes at the ceremony, which was held at Los Angeles’ Gibson Amphitheater, including Choice Movie: Liplock for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s kiss in ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ and Choice Movie: Chemistry.

Taylor Lautner – who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the films – picked up the Choice Fantasy: Movie Actor and Choice Male: Hottie gongs, while co-stars Robert and Kristen won the Choice Summer Movie Star: Male and Choice Summer Movie Star: Female accolades respectively.

‘Twilight’ was not the only vampire drama to dominate the event, which was hosted by ‘California Gurls’ singer Katy Perry – who underwent several costume changes throughout the night appearing at one point as a prom queen.

Hit series ‘The Vampire Diaries’ scooped seven awards in the television category, including Choice TV Show: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, while the show’s leading couple Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev won the Choice Actor and Choice Actress statuettes in the TV Fantasy/Sci-Fi category.

Sandra Bullock won the Choice Movie Actress: Drama award for her performance in ‘The Blind Side’, the role which also won her the Best Actress Oscar.

Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian were also on hand to accept the Choice TV: Reality Show accolade for their series ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’.

Kim tweeted after the event: “So much fun at the Teen Choice Awards tonight! I told Megan Fox she is the most gorgeous woman alive. (sic)”

‘Twilight’ actor Kellan Lutz has been named the male star with the Best Summer Body, according to Men’s Health magazine.

The ripped ‘Twilight’ star has topped a list compiled by the editors of MensHealth.com to find the star with the perfect beach body.

The 25-year-old hunk beat toned actor Matthew McConaughey and his muscular ‘Twilight’ co-star Taylor Lautner to the top spot.

David Zinczenko, editor-in-chief of Men’s Health, said: “All of this year’s finalists have a deep commitment to working out, staying fit and eating smart. They have a variety of workout regimes from boxing to weight training, kayaking and hiking to training for marathons. Kellan Lutz has revealed his top tips for dealing with obsessed ‘Twilight’ fans – running and getting an angry dog.

The 25-year-old actor – who portrays vampire Emmett Cullen in the movie series – admits the fan attention is sometimes overwhelming, so he has purchased a lady-hating mutt.

Speaking about how he deals with fame, he said: “I can run fast now! I also have a dog that doesn’t like females. She’s pretty protective!”
And Kellan – who has been linked to his ‘Twilight’ co-star Ashley Greene and ‘90210’ actress AnnaLynne McCord – insists it isn’t only
female fans who want to get close to him.

He recently had a close encounter with a male admirer at a spa. He said: “I was naked and this guy walked by and said, ‘You’re Kellan Lutz! I’m a big fan.’ I was sitting there butt-naked under the water and he just continued to talk for 10 minutes.”

Kellan also had an unusual meeting with a ‘Twilight’ obsessive and a pair of handcuffs. He explained: “Recently a fan brought handcuffs to a convention that I was at. I didn’t really pay attention to what she said, but she actually said, ‘Do you mind if I handcuff myself to you?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, do it!’ Then I heard this clunk-click noise of metal – and she almost got to me. Luckily, security stepped in.”

Ashley Greene says she is just as tough as her male ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ co-stars.

The 23-year-old star – who plays Alice Cullen in the vampire films – insists the girls on set did the same amount of training for the fight scenes as the boys.

Speaking at the press conference for the new movie in London yesterday (01.07.10), she told BANG Showbiz: “We did the same thing as the boys – lots of training, lots of circuits training, lots of competitions. We played really fun competitions when we’d try and see who could do the circuit in the least amount of time.

“It’s such a hard life we have.”

Rather than be dismayed at the muscle-busting training, Ashley enjoyed the gruelling workout regime because it meant she didn’t have to count calories away from the set.

She added: “It was actually fun and kept us in shape, but it was really cool to get to learn different choreography and then at that point we could eat whatever we wanted – because we were working out so much.”

Ashley was among the stars who walked the red carpet at the London premiere of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ last night (01.07.10).

Kellan Lutz knocked out one of his ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ co-stars on set.

The stacked actor, who plays vampire Emmet Cullen in the ‘Twilight’ films, has revealed he accidently punched his fellow actor Jackson Rathbone – who plays his adopted vampire brother Jasper Hale – leaving him unconscious while shooting a fight scene for the third movie in the franchise.

Speaking at the official ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ press conference in London yesterday (01.07.10), Kellan said: “We had fun times with the fights scenes. We had an oopsy daisy moment when I hit Jackson and knocked him out a little bit during one of our scenes.”

Director David Slade quickly corrected the 25-year-old model-turned-actor, saying: “You knocked him completely out!”

Kellan replied: “He was a trooper he got up and started gurgling his words and mumbling – it was cute. He has become a mischievous little Jackson lately, who thinks he can take the world. But it was really great times after that.”

Last night, thousands of fans turned out for the premiere of ‘Eclipse’ in London’s Leicester Square.

A host of cast members dazzled on the red carpet, including Kellan, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and ‘Eclipse’ newcomer BooBoo Stewart.

However, main stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner did not make an appearance on the red carpet leaving many ‘Twilight’ fans disappointed.

He explained: “I loved doing stunts; I don’t have tattoos and I always say that my scars and bruises are my tattoos. I just did this movie called ‘The Killing Game’ and we had real machetes and my chest got cut up by accident. My agent was like, ‘That’s your money maker! You can’t ruin that!’ ”

Kellan – who is best known for playing Emmett Cullen in the ‘Twilight Saga’ – was left disappointed when he had to axe plans to indulge his action-loving side starring opposite Sylvester Stallone in ‘The Expendables’ because it clashed with his commitment to the vampire series.

He explained in an interview with website Dose.ca: “I love action movies, I want to work with Sylvester Stallone one day. I was supposed to work on his movie ‘The Expendables’.

“I auditioned for it and I got the role, but the scheduling didn’t work out with ‘New Moon’. And I was just like, ‘What a bummer.’ It has seven of my favourite action stars. Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture… it’s such an all-star cast. If the name ‘Kellan’ would have been up there with them, I would have died happy.”

Rob reveals that the third installment of The Twilight Saga film series is ‘really different, like, it’s kind of serious’.

In an interview with MTV News, the 24-year-year old actor said, “All the kinds of fight scenes that are in ‘New Moon,’ they’re, like, real fights now in ‘Eclipse‘. They’re not, like, fantasy things. It’s like a horror film!”

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is scheduled for release on June 30, 2010.

In New Moon, Edward left Bella, and now he has returned to try to stay a part of her life. Bella who finds herself surrounded by danger and targeted by the vengeful vampire Victoria. Eclipse has won Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer at the National Movie Awards. Peter Facinelli who plays Carlisle Cullen accepted the award.

Peter Facinelli competes with his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-stars over who can spend most time at the gym.

The 36-year-old star – who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the vampire movie franchise – admits there is an “unspoken competition” between the actors over who can get the fittest.

He told BANG Showbiz: “We had this kind of unspoken competition between all of us. Working out is addictive enough and then you have
all the cast members working out.

“Not so much to get buff, my character doesn’t need to look like Kellan Lutz’s character but we had to be fit to do the fight training.
But everyone was always in the gym – whenever you wanted to find somebody you just headed to the gym.”

Peter confesses the competition became so intense he once caught Kellan – who plays Emmett Cullen – doing press-ups while waiting for an elevator, leading him to give up the fight.

He said: “I remember going down to the gym and the elevator doors opened and Kellan Lutz was on the floor doing push ups waiting for the elevator and then I just put my hands in the air and said, ‘Ok, you win.’ I just went back to my hotel.”

The 24-year-old actor’s ‘Twilight’ co-star Ashley Greene claims the heartthrob – who first found fame playing Cedric Diggory in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ – is constantly bemused by the attention he receives from women.

She told Seventeen magazine: “He doesn’t understand girls. He gets a lot of attention from them, but he doesn’t quite understand it because before ‘Twilight’, he was just a guy from ‘Harry Potter’.”

Despite his sex symbol status, Ashley has never had a crush on Robert – who is dating his other ‘Twilight’ co-star Kristen Stewart – because they lacked “chemistry”, though she thought about dating the franchise’s Kellan Lutz.

The 23-year-old screen beauty added: “When I met Rob, I didn’t think twice about him. He’s really attractive, but that chemistry wasn’t there.

“Have I hooked up with Kellan? I’ve definitely thought about it. But he’s one of my best friends, but if we were going to be romantic, we would have done it years ago. I like having him to talk to about other guys to get that male perspective. I really cherish our relationship, so I wouldn’t want to mess that up by dating.”

Meanwhile, Robert claims he has cut off his long locks because he had head lice.

He joked: “I got a terrible infestation of nits and I had to shave it all off.”
