The brunette beauty’s latest release ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)’ made history as it became her fifth single from platinum record ‘Teenage Dream’ to reach the top spot, following the success of ‘California Gurls’, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Firework’ and ‘E.T.’, which has left the singer feeling “proud”.

The 26-year-old star took to her twitter account to announce the news earlier today (17.08.11), tweeting: “What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song ‘LAST FRIDAY NIGHT’ is officially #1 & made HISTORY! (sic)”

Katy then praised her fans for helping her become the first woman to achieve the feat.

She wrote: “& u know, I couldn’t have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG… so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!! #allbecauseofu (sic)”

The exploit was last achieved by Michael – who died in 2009, aged 50 – when his 10-track album ‘Bad’ featured five number one singles, ‘I Just Can’t Stop Loving You’, ‘Bad’, ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’, ‘Man in the Mirror’ and ‘Dirty Diana’, between 1987 and 1988 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Russell Brand thinks the UK riots are “sad and frightening”

The British comedian – who now lives in Los Angeles with his wife Katy Perry – is upset areas he has previously lived in London has been affected by the looting and violence in the last week and hopes his views do not irritate because he no longer lives in England.

He wrote on his website: “This week’s riots are sad and frightening and if I have by virtue of my temporary displacement forgone the right to speak about the behaviour of my countrymen then this is gonna be irksome.

“I’ve lived in Dalston, Hackney, Elephant, Camden and Bethnal Green, I grew up around Dagenham and Romford and whilst I could never claim to be from the demographic most obviously affected I feel guilty that I’m not there now.

“I feel proud to be English, proud to be a Londoner (alright an Essex boy) never more so than since being in exile and I naturally begin to wonder what would make young people destroy their communities.”

Although the 36-year-old star believes he does not know the answer to the problem – which was sparked by the killing of Mark Duggan by police last week – because of his celebrity lifestyle, he hopes people learn to deal with their problems spiritually.

He added: “I don’t know enough about politics to ponder a solution and my hands are sticky with blood money from representing corporate interests through film, television and commercials, venerating, through my endorsements and celebrity, products and a lifestyle that contributes to the alienation of an increasingly dissatisfied underclass.

“But I know, as we all intuitively know, that the solution is all around us and it isn’t political, it is spiritual. Ghandi said, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world.’ ”

Katy Perry taped her breasts down until she was 19

The ‘Firework’ singer prayed for big breasts when she was younger, but admits she didn’t “understand” her body and tried to hide what have since become her two most famous assets.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, she said: “God answered [my] prayer above and beyond, by, like, 100 times, until I was like, ‘Please, stop, God. I can’t see my feet anymore. Please stop!’

“I was a lot more rectangular then. I didn’t understand my body. So, what I did was, I started taping them down. How long did I tape them down for? Probably until I was about 19. And, no, I don’t have any psychological pain because of it.”

“I think we are largely in desperate need of revolutionary change in the way our mindset is. Our priority is fame, and people’s wellness is way low. I saw this knowing full well that I’m a part of the problem. I’m playing the game, though I am trying to reroute.

“Anyway, not to get all politically divulging and introspective, but the fact that America doesn’t have free health care drives me f***ing absolutely crazy, and is so wrong.”

Katy Perry and Russell Brand have put their Los Angeles home up for sale for $3.395 million

The married couple have decided to put the luxury property on the market after living there sporadically for just two years.

The 1922 Mediterranean-style house comes complete with four bedrooms, a three-car garage, swimming pool, huge living area, modern kitchen and incredible views of the city.

However, some features are not included in the sale such as a 25ft ‘love tepee’ which Russell had installed for him and his pop star wife, and a vintage pink refrigerator which Katy bought for the kitchen.

It is believed the couple have decided to sell the property because they want to make their New York apartment – which they purchased for $2.7 million last year – their main home.

The lovebirds are currently apart as Russell is shooting his next movie, the big screen version of acclaimed musical ‘Rock of Ages’, in Miami, while Katy is in New Zealand on the latest leg of her ‘California Dreams’ world tour.

Despite her hectic work schedule the ‘Firework’ singer recently revealed her husband is her “number one priority”.

The 26-year-old pop star – who married the 35-year-old British comedian in India last October said: “My husband is my number one priority. We have an amazing relationship.

Katy Perry is used to having men stare at her — but when a guy camped outside her home for two hours and just stood there, staring at the house … her security team called the coppers.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Perry’s security team spotted the guy lurking outside her Los Feliz home Wednesday night. We’re told the guy was there for about two hours when the team finally said enough is enough … and called the LAPD.

According to law enforcement sources, officers showed up on scene and gave the guy a talking to … then sent him on his way.

As for Katy — she wasn’t even home.

Katy Perry has stocked up her tour bus with “waffles, chocolate and beer” from Belgium

The ‘Firework’ singer performed at the Forest National arena in Brussels on Thursday night (10.03.11) and while she was in the Belgian capital she decided to buy a host of local delicacies.

She revealed on her twitter page: “Brussels … That was so fun! I have stocked my bus with lots of your cheese, waffles, chocolate & beer … Unfortunately my thighs hate you.”

But it’s not just the city’s calorific treats that Katy likes.

She admits Brussels has a special place in her heart because its name reminds her of her husband – Russell Brand.

She added in other tweets: “I especially like BRUSSELS because it has most of my hubby’s name hidden it @rustyrockets! bonus!

The 26-year-old pop star is currently on the European leg of her ‘California Dreams’ world tour, which heads to Germany this weekend.

Russell Brand’s marriage to Katy Perry is “ordinary”.

The British comedian insists the pair – who married in October 2010 after dating for just a year – are no different from any other couple and argue about simple things.

He said: “It’s nice to be married to Katy Perry but you’d be surprised how ordinary the marriage is.

“The other day I was wearing a shirt and she said, ‘Are you wearing that shirt out?’ And it was not a proper question, it was like she meant, ‘Get it off’. And I had to take it off.”

Britney Spears is to perform at the 53rd Grammy Awards

The ‘Womanizer‘ hitmaker – who is to release her as yet untitled seventh studio album in March – is to open the prestigious awards ceremony on February 13 with her new number one hit single ‘Hold It Against Me‘.

According to gossip website Bloginity.com, while the 29-year-old singer has been the subject of rumours surrounding the upcoming event for some weeks, this is the first time an official Grammys source has been able to confirm that she will be opening the ceremony.

The troubled star – who won the 2005 Best Dance Recording Grammy for ‘Toxic’ – released ‘Hold It Against Me’ earlier than initially planned on MP3 downloading service iTunes earlier in the month, and thanked fans for their support in sending it straight to the top of the charts.

Katy Perry keeps fit by skipping

The 26-year-old singer enjoys five 25-minute workouts every week with personal trainer Harley Pasternak, who says her brief workouts are better for keeping her trim in the long term.

Harley said: “It’s an intense workout that lasts 25 minutes. Working out more often for shorter periods is better than three times a week for longer.

“Katy loves jumping rope, so that’s what we do for cardio. It’s convenient, dance-like and expressive and efficient, time-wise.”

Harley has also put Katy on a strict diet, where she eats five small meals a day, though once a week she can indulge in her favourite treats such as pizza and chocolate.

Harley explained: “She eats two meals and three snacks a day, consisting of healthy fats, lean protein, fibre and a non-sugar drink.

“Her favourite meal from recipes I’ve created is French toast – slices of bread dipped in egg white, skimmed milk and a little sugar, grilled and topped with low-fat ricotta cheese and berries.”

Justin Bieber became the youngest person ever to win the Artist of the Year prize at the American Music Awards (AMAs) last night (21.11.10).

The ‘Pray’ hitmaker was the big winner of the evening, taking home four accolades including Favourite Pop/Rock Male Artist, Favourite Album and Breakthrough Artist of the Year during the ceremony at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Accepting the Artist of the Year honour, the 16-year-old star thanked his mentor Usher and invited the ‘OMG’ singer to join him on stage.

He said: “I really was embraced by a man named Usher Raymond. It would be only right if I invited him up here to share it with me.”

Usher picked up two gongs himself, Favourite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Favourite Soul/R&B Album, while rapper Eminem walked away with statuettes for Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Male Artist and Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Album.

Other winners at the 38th annual ceremony included country stars Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley; British rock band Muse, R&B singer Rihanna and Colombian pop star Shakira.

Michael Buble was heard shouted “I love winning things’’ when he picked up the Favourite Adult Contemporary Artist award.

Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kid Rock and Bon Jovi, all performed at the ceremony and boy bands New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) and Backstreet Boys joined up for their first collaborative live stage effort before they kick off a joint American tour next year.

Pink – who announced last week she is pregnant with her first child – did not allow her pregnancy to slow her down putting on an energetic dance routine to perform new song ‘Raise Your Glass’.

She told E! News: “There’s a pretty cool kissing scene in ‘The Big Bang’ which is pretty funny because Kevin is actually the boyfriend of someone that works very closely with me. So there was definitely a little awkwardness since she was on set, or whatever.”

However, Miley admitted it wasn’t all bad as she felt more comfortable filming the intimate scenes with someone she knows rather than a stranger.

‘Twilight’ leads nominations for this year’s People’s Choice Awards.

The vampire movie franchise’s third instalment ‘Eclipse‘ dominated the award’s movie categories when they were announced yesterday (09.12.20) with eight nods including Favourite Movie, Favourite Movie Actor for stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and Favourite Movie Actress for Kristen Stewart, among others.

The awards also honour Music and Television stars, and the nominations saw Eminem and Usher included in the Favourite Male Artist category, while Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are all in the running for Favourite Female Artist.

Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber are both nominated for Favourite Breakout Artist, alongside B.o.B.,

Katy Perry and Gemma Arterton were among those honoured at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Of The Year Awards 2010

The ‘Firework’ singer was named Ultimate International Music Star, while Gemma was given the Ultimate Film Actress accolade at the ceremony at London’s Banqueting House in Whitehall.

Though the ceremony recognises the achievements of women, two men were also honoured.

‘Glee’ star Mark Salling was named Ultimate Hottie, while rapper Dizzee Rascal received the coveted Ultimate Man of the Year honour.

Speaking at the event, Dizzee said: “There’s a lot of hotties here, Kelly Brook told me she was single, there’s a lot going on!”

The ‘Dance Wiv Me’ rapper has earlier posed on the red carpet with ‘Piranha 3D’ actress, who also praised Dizzee for his dapper appearance.

She said: “He does look good. He’s very handsome too and very sweet and charming.”

Plus-sized model Crystal Renn was named Ultimate Catwalk Queen, while ‘Mad Men’ actress Christina Hendricks was named Ultimate US TV Actress.

Taking home the Ultimate UK TV Actress gong was ‘Doctor Who’ star Karen Gillan, while ‘Bad Boys’ singer Alexandra Burke won Ultimate UK Music Star.

Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts took home the Ultimate Fashionista title, and was joined at the star-studded ceremony by her bandmate Kimberley Walsh, who was one of the judges who selected the non=celebrity winners.

She was joined on the panel by Cosmopolitan’s agony aunt, Irma Kurtz, businesswoman and TV star Karren Brady, radio presenter Reggie Yates and former Spice Girls singer Mel B.

Cosmopolitan’s Editor Louise Court – who headed the group of judges – said: “I have been honoured to once again celebrate the achievements of such deserving people. The women that have been recognised tonight are truly inspirational and all embody the ‘fun and fearless’ spirit of the magazine.”

Katy Perry Okay with Rihanna’s Wedding No-Show

Rihanna and Katy Perry are BFFs — and both mega pop stars — so of course Katy understood when her close pal had to work, rather than fly to India for Katy’s wedding to Russell Brand … this according to sources close to the wedding.

Perry and Brand tied the knot earlier today in a traditional Hindu wedding. But while reports say the wedding was just family friends, sources tell us Katy’s good friend Rihanna wasn’t in attendance.

Rihanna was a part of Katy’s Las Vegas bachelorette party – but, according to our source, Rihanna told Katy she couldn’t make it because she had to hit the studio.

We’re told Katy booked a special room for Rihanna — but she totally understood why RiRi couldn’t hop a plane to India.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand have got married

The couple tied the knot in on Saturday (23.10.10) at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort in Rajasthan, India, which is located near the Ranthambore National Park – which is the country’s leading tiger park and also home to other wildlife including leopards, deer and exotic birds.

A representative for the newlyweds released a statement saying: “Russell Brand and Katy Perry are overjoyed to confirm that they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand on Saturday, October 23. The very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couples’ closest family and friends was performed by a Christian minister and long-time friend of the Hudson Family. The backdrop was the inspirational and majestic countryside of Northern India.”

Guests are believed to include Katy’s close friend Rihanna, and British comedian David Baddiel and his wife Morwenna Banks.

Heavy security guarded the location of the nuptials and local police officers surrounded the adjacent fields and the resort’s walls.

Rihanna is going to wear a Stella McCartney dress to Katy Perry’s wedding

The ‘Rude Boy’ singer – who is close friends with the ‘Teenage Dream‘ hitmaker and organised her recent bachelorette party in Las Vegas – has revealed she is very well prepared for Katy and her fiance Russell Brand’s nuptials, which are set to take place in India in the coming weeks.

She said: “I’m going to wear Stella McCartney and Topshop, of course!”

Rihanna also revealed Katy has been talking so much about her big day she has put her off getting wed anytime soon.

The 22-year-old pop star – who is dating Los Angeles Dodgers baseball star Matt Kemp – added: “I’ve heard the word marriage 400 times in the past few days. I’m not ready for that yet myself.”

Rihanna has had an eventful career and personal life since she rose to fame as a teenager. She has released five albums and was the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown – who beat her up in his car in February 2009.

But the singer is adamant she didn’t miss out on enjoying her youth.

She said in an interview with Britain’s OK! magazine: “I was always mature for my age. I enjoy knowledge, so I hang out with a lot of older people – I always have.”

Rihanna also believes that good can come from bad situations.

She explained: “In life, every negative that happens leads to something great – you just can’t see it at the time. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without the bad things that have happened to me. My skin wouldn’t be this thick and you need that in this industry.”

Katy Perry thinks her fiance Russell Brand is the “funniest man in the world”

The ‘I Kissed a Girl’ beauty – who is set to wed the British comedian in the next few weeks – admits Russell is “brilliant” and never fails to make her laugh.

She said: “I think he is the funniest man in the world. He isbrilliant. People should not have a problem with him. Russell Brand isawesome!”

The 25-year-old singer has also revealed how she was forced to change her name from her real moniker Katy Hudson after people kept asking if she was related to Hollywood actress Kate Hudson.

She laughed: “Living in Los Angeles there can only be one Kate Hudson. People kept asking me if I was her less famous sister. It was weird and stupid so I changed my surname to Perry as that is my mum’s maiden name.”

Katy’s mother Mary and father Keith are both pastors who she admits brought her up in a “strict” household. However, Katy admits she relished the chance to experience life once she moved away from their family home.

She explained: “I love my parents and appreciate the love and strength they gave me but since moving out of home and living in Los Angeles for many years, I now understand a lot more about life. If you love someone and respect them, that is all that counts.”

Russell Brand Has a Date with the City Attorney

Russell Brand’s arrest for a run-in with a paparazzo could be settled in the L.A. City Attorney’s Office … TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the meeting is set for November 19 — during which Brand, the paparazzo and the City Attorney will have a sit-down and try to work out the differences.

Presuming they hash it out, Brand won’t be prosecuted.

As we first reported, Brand was arrested on September 17 after he allegedly attacked a photographer. Brand claims he only lashed out because the photog was trying to snap photos up fiancee Katy Perry’s skirt.
