Kate Hudson thinks she is expecting a baby girl

The ‘Bride Wars’ actress – who is pregnant with her first child with British rocker Matt Bellamy – has done a “pendulum test” which indicates the sex of a child, and the result has convinced her she is having a girl.

She said: “So here’s the pendulum test. You take a piece of hair and you take a ring, and you string it through – this is very witchy of me!

“And then what you do is you hold it over your stomach. And then if it moves in a circle, it’s a girl and a boy goes back and forth.”

The 31-year-old beauty demonstrated the result on Entertainment Tonight, where the pendulum is seen swinging in a circle, and added she has had no dreams about the sex of the child, unlike with her seven-year-old son Ryder from ex-husband Chris Robinson.

She said: “How crazy is that? I’ve had no dreams I’m having a girl. And with Ryder it was back-and-forth.”

However Kate – whose mother is Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn – claims she will not be disappointed if the baby is a boy because Ryder would be excited to have a brother.

She added: “If the baby comes out a boy – to see the look on Ryder’s face to have a brother? I mean, forget it!”

It is not the first time Kate has revealed she thinks a girl is on the way because this pregnancy was the “opposite” to the first.

She said: “It’s been seven years and I’ve totally forgot about what it’s like to be – you know, your body changing and moving – and it’s just, it couldn’t be a more opposite pregnancy.

“So of course everybody says, ‘Well, then that means you’re having a girl’, but I don’t want to know.”

Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have purchased a £4 million home in the UK

The couple – who are currently expecting their first child – have reportedly purchased a property in North London after the 31-year-old actress decided the UK would be a “great place” to raise a family.

An insider explained: “Kate is ready to put down roots in the UK. She is in the process of filling out visa forms that will enable her to live in England with Matt for at least six months of the year.

“Kate looks at the UK as a great place to raise a family. She sees herself living and working from London for the long haul.”

The pair are hoping to move into the property, which comes complete with a nursery, games room and guest rooms, as soon as renovations are complete, and are also looking at holiday homes in Cornwall near the 32-year-old rocker’s parents’ house in Devon, South West England.

Matt and Kate – who also has a seven-year-old son Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson – are said to be so ecstatic about their new home that they have already taken Kate’s Hollywood legend mother Goldie Hawn and stepdad Kurt Russell to look around the area.

The source added to Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Matt and Kate have shown Goldie and Kurt around the area and Matt took them all to Devon to meet his parents. They also looked around Cornwall for a holiday home.”

However, Kate recently admitted she was “unsure” about moving to the UK on a permanent basis.

She said: “I’ll obviously be spending a lot more time in London bit I’m not sure about moving – not yet! We’ll probably split it 50/50 – I do love it here and surprisingly I do love the weather. It’s so nice to have seasons.”

The ‘A Little Bit of Heaven’ star prefers to have a natural look and claims she never spends hours in front of the mirror, only using concealer to hide the odd blemish on her face.

The 31-year-old actress said: “It’s kind of nice because I don’t like being made up, I feel like I’m a guy like that.

“I’m the kind of person who walks out of my house and doesn’t even think about putting on make-up, unless I have a big old zit, then I’ll try to cover it! But I’m not really a fussy person.”

However, Kate – who is mother to seven-year-old Ryder, her son with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and is currently expecting her first child with her new boyfriend, Muse rocker Matt Bellamy – admits she sometimes wishes she wore make-up more often when she sees unflattering paparazzi shots of herself.

She added to Britain’s OK! magazine: “I pay for it sometimes, because when you’re getting your picture taken you think, ‘God, I really should have put on a little blush because that is just not OK’ But I can’t be bothered, who has got the time when you have kids? The ‘Fool’s Gold‘ actress – who is 14 weeks pregnant with her first child with the Muse rocker – reportedly held an “intimate” bash to celebrate their union with their closest friends and family at an exclusive London hotel on Monday night (24.01.11).

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “It was an intimate party. They kept their engagement secret as they wanted to celebrate with their nearest and dearest before it became public knowledge.”

Kate’s Hollywood icon mother Goldie Hawn, 65, was believed to be among the guests in attendance after having been in the UK to present an accolade at the British Comedy Awards on Saturday night (22.01.11).

However, the couple – who have been dating for around nine months – could be set to move back to the UK on a permanent basis after Matt, 32, revealed plans for all of Muse to move to London to make writing and rehearsing for the band’s next album easier.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: “We’re all thinking of moving back to London, so it’ll be the first time we’re all going to be in the same place since we were much younger.

“It’ll make rehearsing a lot easier. Maybe in summer we’ll start getting into rehearsing and writing.”

Jade Ewen is “obsessed” with shoes

The Sugababes singer admits she has spent thousands of pounds buying beautiful footwear but tries not to worry about the cost as she has few other indulgences.

She said: “I’m obsessed with shoes. I have about 125 pairs.

“I love Miu Miu, Givenchy, and Christian Louboutin heels. It’s an expensive habit, but they’re my one indulgence.”

As well as her love of shoes, 22-year-old Jade is also a big fan of strapless dresses as she has found they suit her petite frame best.

She explained: “I have a really short torso, which means I have to try and elongate my body. I’ve learned to do this by choosing strapless dresses to show off my neckline and legs.

“It was only when I joined the Sugababes that someone pointed it out. Before I always needed to alter clothes to get them to fit.”

Jade is not the only star to confess to an obsession with footwear.

Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie has previously admitted to owning over 500 pairs of shoes.

She said: “I’m a girl, and I love accessories. It’s one of the reasons I have huge closets, and we keep making room in the house for more closets. I don’t like to throw anything away.”

Kate Hudson recently admitted she is unable to stop herself from buying fancy footwear.

She said: “I’m a total shopaholic! I’ve tried to stop, but I love clothes and fashion way too much! I probably own more than 400 pairs of shoes. That’s a lot, isn’t it?”

“Kate’s had a place in the city for five years but she wants somewhere bigger, so Matt’s suggested pooling their resources.”

Kate wants the home to have a playroom for her six-year-old son Ryder – her child from her marriage to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson -while Matt needs a studio to make music.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand don’t want their wedding to be a “drunk fest of people”.

The couple – who got engaged in December – are planning a “small” but lavish ceremony because they want the occasion to be memorable and all about their love for one another.

She told People magazine: “I think the wedding will be small. I always have a ton of people around me and I think the people that are going to share this moment with us are the people we want to integrate into each other’s lives.

“We don’t necessarily want it to be a drunk fest of people just, you know, one night and then forgetting about it. We want it to be about the love. So sometimes to be about the love, we have to take them out of their comfort zone.”

The screenplay of this musical-romantic film is based on Arthur Kopit’s book for the 1982 Tony Award-winning musical of the same name. The star-studded cast includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Judi Dench, Fergie, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman and Sophia Loren.

The Hurt Locker

The story of this American war thriller was written by Mark Boal, a freelance writer who was embedded with a bomb squad in the war in Iraq. The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, was shot in Jordan, within miles of the Iraq border. The movie has received widespread acclaim from film critics.

Precious

A film adaption of the award-winning 1996 novel Push: A Novel by Sapphire. Precious, directed by Lee Daniels, received largely positive reviews from critics. Precious has multiple producers – with twelve in total which includes     Lee Daniels, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Heller and Tyler Perry.

Invictus

Up in the Air

‘Up in the Air’, directed by Jason Reitman, is about a corporate downsizer and his travels. George Clooney plays the role of Ryan Bingham, a man who travels around the country to various workplaces, a career transition counselor. the review for this movie have been generally positive.

Inglourious Basterds

Inglourious Basterds, directed by Quentin Tarantino, tells the story of two plots to assassinate the Nazi political leadership. This film is set in German-occupied France. Inglourious Basterds is currently Tarantino’s highest grossing film.

Brothers

Directed by Jim Sheridan, ‘Brothers’ is a drama-war film starring Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman. The film take inspiration from Homer’s epic poem ‘The Odyssey’.

The film is about relationship- between brothers, husband and a loving father of two, in a very sweet American family. Suddenly everything changes when Capt. Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) goes missing in Afghanistan and everyone assumes he is dead. Actually he was captured by Afgan rebels were he was forced to kill one of his own soldier.

In the meanwhile his wife Grace (Natalie Portman) gets attached to his brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal). But his unexpected return brings a twist in the story. At the end Sam says “only the dead has seen the end of war, I have seen the end of war ….. can I live again ?”

The Last Station

German biographical film about Leo Tolstoy, based on a 1990 biographical novel of the same name by Jay Parini. This movie is directed by Michael Hoffman.

Public Enemies

American crime film, co-written and directed by Michael Mann, focuses on the true story of Bureau of Investigation agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale)’s attempt to stop criminals John Dillinger (Johnny Depp), Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), and Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum).

The film portrays American crime scenario of 1933 which was referred as “the golden age of bank robbery” for John Dillinger, Alvin Karpis and Baby Face Nelson, but they were hunted down by federal agent Melvin Purvis . The flims ends with the dying words of John Dillinger – “bye bye black bird”  the last message for his girlfriend Billie Frechette.

Kate Hudson’s New Year’s Eve (31.12.09) plans have been ruined following her split from Alex Rodriguez.

The ‘Nine’ actress and the New York Yankees baseball star – who ended their seven-month relationship earlier this month – had planned to see in 2010 by attending a host of parties in Miami, Florida.

However, Kate has now cancelled her involvement while Alex, nicknamed A-Rod, will probably still attend.

A source told Life and Style magazine: “They were both scheduled to appear together at several bashes. Obviously that’s not happening now – she cancelled! She cancelled everything; she’s not going to Miami at all. Alex is probably still going, and no doubt will be flirting up a storm – as he usually does.”

The actress – who was on the red carpet in Leicester Square last night (03.12.09) for the London premiere of the musical comedy ‘Nine’, in which she plays a fashion journalist – said she would accept  role if it fitted in with her family life.

Kate – who has a five-year-old son Ryder from her marriage to rocker Chris Robinson – said: “I’ve had a really good year which is a kid of a good feeling, it’s the first year I’ve felt like that.

“I have thought about theatre, that would be fun. I would never shy away from that.

“As long as it’s the right opportunity and timing for my family, but you know, I could. The decision-making process to do something like that does become a lot harder but I would never shy away from that in the right circumstances.”

The 30-year-old star said she enjoyed the singing and dancing in ‘Nine’ so much that she wanted to do something involving that again.

She said: “I would love to, it was so fun. It’s like the most exhilarating, joyful thing in the world, it’s like ‘Oh my god!’.”

She also said it was the praise of her step-father Kurt Russell, who watched her during some of the filming, which provided the most memorable aspect of production.

“It was like doing theatre, but I only did theatre as a student in Spain.”

Penelope – who plays seductress, Carla Albanese, who seduces Daniel Day-Lewis’ character, director Guido Contini, in the film – also revealed her sexy look in the movie was aided by some very good costume designers.

She said: “The woman who designed the costumes for every one of us, I think she really must be one of the most amazing artists.”

Penelope was joined on the red carpet by several of her co-stars, including Nicole Kidman, 42, Kate Hudson, 30, and Dame Judi Dench, 74.

Judi admitted she was surprised by how well all the actresses got along, saying: “They’re wonderful, I mean every single one, I swear you’re going to be surprised. They’re going to surprise everyone.”

The actress admits six-year-old Ryder – her son with ex-husband, Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson – took a liking to Penelope when she and Kate were filming new movie ‘Nine’ together.

Talking about the shoot, Kate said: “Ryder would say to me, ‘I saw Penelope in the lobby today.’

“You could see that he recognised what a beautiful woman she is. He’s so cute!”

Kate recently revealed how confident Ryder is and knows exactly what he wants.

The 30-year-old star – whose mother is Hollywood actress Goldie Hawn – said: “My mother has said, ‘He’ll be a director of something because everything is specific.’ You know, we went to this birthday party where everybody was getting their faces painted and the kids were going, ‘I want to be Spider-Man or Batman.’ But Ryder was like, ‘I want a red face and I want white around the eyes, I want a white mouth, I want spikes and yellow dots on each one.’

“But the face painter didn’t do it exactly like that, and in the car later, Ryder was on the phone with his dad Chris and I said, ‘Tell daddy about your face.’ And he goes, ‘She did it totally wrong.’ I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘They’re not mountain peaks, they’re hills. They’re not peaks, they’re not sharp.’ I told him, ‘Honey, but they look great.’ Then he replied, ‘No, mom. They’re hills.’ Oh yeah, he knows what he wants!”

The ‘Bride Wars’ actress doesn’t hold back when it comes to telling those close to her – including mother Goldie Hawn and stepfather Kurt Russell – the intimate details of her love life with New York Yankees baseball player Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez.

A source close to the star told Us Weekly magazine: “They love sex! They talk about it all day. Kate gets graphic talking about his body, even to her parents.”

The 30-year-old actress – who has a five-year-old son Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson – has grown increasingly close to the 34-year-old sportsman since they started dating in May and pals claim she has helped curb his wild ways.

A friend said: “She’s with him every second. Kate is changing him for the better. He’s more free-spirited.”

Earlier this month, rumours spread the couple are considering getting married, after they moved in together in New York.

A source said: “Kate is head-over-heels for Alex and he feels the same way. As long as things continue to be so great, they will get married. They are practically there already with the shared homes.”

Alex has two children, Natasha, five, and 18-month-old Ella, with ex-wife Cynthia.
