JLS have written 16 tracks for their third album

The ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ hitmakers are currently in Los Angeles working on a new record and say initial sessions have proved particularly fruitful. Band member Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill said: “It’s going really well.”

His bandmate Oritse Williams added: “It’s off to a good start. We’ve written around 16 tracks so far.” The group – which also includes Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes – have previously told of their plans to learn instruments for their new album.

Marvin, 25, said: “We all want to play our own instruments. We want to take the band forward. “Take That inspired us. We’ve already decided what we’re playing – I’m playing drums and Oritse is on guitar.” Jonathan added: “I used to play the piano and I’m going to take it up again. I feel like I’ve lost touch with it and I want to be able to play it on stage as well as on future albums.”

The band is keen to stay together as a group and have ruled out any of them going solo at this point in their career. Aston said: “We’re new to this game as a group. It feels like we’ve been here for a little while but we’re still new.”
Jonathan added: “Before the group we were all doing solo things and that didn’t work. aWe’re strong and unified and that won’t change.”

Westlife have blasted JLS for releasing their own condom range

The Irish group have ridiculed the ‘Beat Again’ hitmakers Just Love Safe contraceptives, accusing them of going too far with their merchandising.

Mark Feehily exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “It does make you think what the f**k are they doing? Seriously, used condoms is a lovely thing to think about when you think of JLS.

“So will girls be going to their boyfriends, ‘Sorry tonight babe do you mind using the one with Aston’s face on it?’ ”

Shane Filan added: “They obviously got paid loads of money to do it and just went, ‘OK.’ ”

While the ‘What About Now’ singers – who have their own perfume range – admit they have cashed in on their fame at times, they always took a slightly different approach.

Nicky Byrne said: “We had chocolate bars back in our day.”

However, Westlife – which also includes fourth member Kian Egan – did admit they have been approached about their own brand of condoms and joked they are planning a tie-in with their new single, the aptly named ‘Safe’.

Shane said: “People have actually recommended that we release our own brand of condoms. We could call them ‘Safe’ after our new single.”

Mark claims the band might even go one step further, saying “We might release our own contraceptive pill!”

Westlife will release their new single ‘Safe’ on November 8.

Justin Bieber has been turned into a toy

The teen singing sensation’s likeness has been turned into two ranges of dolls – the Music Video Collection and the JB Style Collection.

The Music Video Collection sees figures playing 30-second clips from his hit songs ‘Baby’ and ‘One Less Lonely Girl’ and the dolls are dressed in Justin’s outfits from those videos.

The JB Style Collection, features Justin figurines dressed in “street style”, “awards style” and “red carpet style” outfits.

The mini Justin dolls will be released in December.

Justin, 16, is not the first star to be made into a toy.

During the peak of their fame in the 90s, the Spice Girls all had their own figurines, as did Take That and Britney Spears.

Last year, Sienna Miller was turned into an action figure in the guise of her ‘G.I Joe: Rise of the Cobra’ character Baroness.

She said “I’m not sure if I’m going to be playing with my own doll – but I’m going to have happy nieces and nephews, I’m sure.”

British boy band JLS are also set to be immortalised in plastic, with their range of dolls coming out later this year.

The 26-year-old beauty strolled ahead in the results – which were put together by the Orange Digital Media Index (ODMI) – and received over 40 per cent more phone searches than ‘Hannah Montana’ star Miley Cyrus, who came second, and ‘Twilight’ hunk Robert Pattinson, who was placed third.

Paul Jevons from Orange, said: “Mobile searches are a real barometer of fame and reflect the public’s fascination with celebrities when on the move.”

Cheryl also fought off stiff competition when she topped the most downloaded music tracks and video download polls.

The Black Eyed Peas song ‘Meet Me Halfway’ was the second most sought after track, while Lady Gaga’s single ‘Bad Romance’ came in third.

Robert Pattinson made another appearance in the top 10 video downloads, as droves of fans of his ‘Twilight’ movies downloaded the ‘Twilight: New Moon’ movie trailer – making it the second most popular video.

JLS want to make Peter Andre their fifth member.

The ‘Beat Again’ hitmakers – comprising Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, and Oritse Williams – have struck up a close friendship with the Australian singer-and-presenter and are so grateful for his support, they want to offer him the chance to perform with them.

JB said: “He’s so supportive of us. He’s fantastic. Even when he was really busy at the BRIT Awards and was being dragged off elsewhere, he was like, ‘Look, no, I just want to speak to the boys for a quick second.’ “

Oritse added: “He could be our fifth member!”

In the meantime, the group are preparing to release their single ‘Everybody In Love’ in the US later this year and although they want the track to do well, the band are quick to reassure their fans they won’t be abandoning the UK.

Aston said: “We would never leave the UK. More than anything, we wanna do all we can here. And emulate what Take That or Westlife have achieved.”

Marvin added: “Obviously there’s been a lot of talk and a lot of rumours. We will be releasing ‘Everybody In Love’ over there at some point in the year. It’s gonna be amazing. As artists, you want to release material all over the world and we are so lucky to be able to do that in America.”

The ‘Poker Face’ singer took home trophies for International Album,
International Breakthrough Act and International Female Solo Artist.
Show host Peter Kay quipped: “She’s won every international awards
apart from International Male!”
Accepting her first award, Gaga said: “Thank you so much, I love my
fans, thank you so much for everything,” before reeling off a list of
people who she wanted to thank.
By the time she accepted her third award, for Best International
Album, she was in tears.
She said: “I was really excited about winning the first two awards,
but this one means more because I worked so hard on this album for so
long, and when I think about all that I went through and all the years
of struggling and my fans – they were the first ones to recognise my
abilities.”
Gaga also performed a song at the event – which she dedicated to
recently deceased fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
British boyband JLS were the surprise winners of two awards, taking
home British Single for their debut ‘Beat Again’ and British
Breakthrough Act. In a triumph for hip hop, ‘Bonkers’ rapper Dizzee
Rascal was named the British Male Solo Artist.
Accepting his award, he thanked his record label, saying: “Whoa, it’s
about time! Big up to all the Dirtee Stank family, Big up to all the
fans!”
Elsewhere, Florence and the Machine picked up the accolade for British
Album, while Lily Allen was named British Female Solo Artist.
Accepting her award in a bright ginger wig, she said: “I wore an
orange wig so it would make it harder for the cameramen to find me and
see the look of disappointment on my face. But that backfired.”
When urged to hurry her speech she replied: “No f**k off, I’m not
leaving, f**k off,” before thanking her family.

Liam Gallagher outraged the BRIT Awards tonight (16.02.10), throwing
his trophy in the crowd and snubbing his brother.
The former Oasis singer appeared to collect the award for BRITS Album
of 30 Years, a publicly voted accolade for the best album since the
event started.
Liam appeared onstage briefly to collect the trophy, and thanked the
band’s line up – apart from his brother Noel, the band’s main
songwriter and second vocalist.
Referring to one of the group’s hits, Liam said: “I’d like to thank
Bonehead, Guigsy, Alan White…. the best bands in the f**king world
live forever.”
He then threw his microphone and the award into the audience and
walked offstage.
Oasis split last year after a fallout between the volatile Gallagher
brothers, and while Noel is recording a new solo album, Liam has
formed a new band with the rest of the group’s members.
Backstage at the event, he said: “I don’t know if we deserved it
because there has been loads of great albums over the last 30 years.
“But if they’re gonna give it to us then I’ll play the game and turn
up and get it.
“Now can we go and take loads of Class A drugs?”
The missing microphone caused panic among the award organisers, and
while the show was at an advert break, one of the stage team pleaded
for its safe return.
He announced: “We need this mic back. Please, if you have the mic will
you return it, as one of our artists will not be able to perform
without it.”
The microphone thrown by Liam was given back and the show went on.
Other performances at the event included rock band Kasabian, who
performed their single ‘Fire’ on a stage which was partially engulfed
in flames. They later won the award for British Group.
Cheryl Cole – who is currently undergoing troubles in her marriage to
footballer Ashley Cole, after he was caught sending lewd messages to
other women – also performed her single ‘Fight For This Love’ singing
through what appeared to be gritted teeth as she did a dance routine
reminiscent of Michael Jackson.

The JLS singer can’t wait for the festive period because he is desperate for some time off to relax in sunnier climes.

He said: “I’m going to be with my family on Christmas Day (25.12.09), then I’m going to go on holiday on Boxing Day (26.12.09). I’m jetting off somewhere hot for a week. I just want to sleep, eat, chill and do absolutely nothing.”

While Marvin, 24, can’t wait to jet off, his bandmates are happy to be able to spend quality time with their families.

Oritse Williams will travel to Canada, Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill is staying in London and Aston Merrygold will join his loved ones at their home in Peterborough, England.

He added: “It’s going to be nice to see everyone because I don’t get a chance to go back home much and catch up with them all.”

A spokesperson for the group said: “They wanted to do it for everything they achieved his year. They invited the whole team who have been working on them.”

After leaving the eatery, the quartet – Oritse Williams, Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold and Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill – headed to a nearby nightclub to continue their evening.

The group have been regulars on the London party circuit in recent months, with Marvin even catching the eye of ‘Russian Roulette’ hitmaker Rihanna on a night out at Mahiki last week.

She reportedly told a pal: “JLS are super-talented and super-sexy. It would have been cool if Marvin had come over and said hi.

“Maybe next time. Or if they are ever over in the States we could hook up.”

However, Rihanna faces competition for Marvin’s affections after he recently confessed to having a crush on Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole and The Saturdays singer Rochelle Wiseman.

The Girls Aloud star will have to wear a cast over the Christmas period and doctors have told Sarah, who is renowned for her love of partying, to rest up over the next few weeks.

A spokesperson for the Girls Aloud singer claimed she suffered the injury when a car door was slammed on her foot.

However, a source at The Mayfair Hotel suggested that Sarah stumbled out of her bed last week, causing the break.

Last week, she was unable to attend the premiere after-party for new movie ‘St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold’ – in which she plays a troublemaking school girl – because of the injury.

A source said: “She was really disappointed – JLS and The Saturdays had gone back to her bar Kanaloa to help her celebrate, but she had to stand them up because she was in so much pain. She just wasn’t up to it.”

The British boy band – who topped the UK singles charts with their first two singles ‘Beat Again’ and ‘Everybody In Love’ – will return to the recording studio as soon as they’ve finished touring their debut album ‘JLS’ and hope to release their second LP in November 2010.

Singer Marvin Humes told The Sun newspaper: “It’s straight back into it with the tour in February and the release of our third single. As soon as the tour is finished the plan is that we will go into the studio and start putting the second album together.”

The foursome – also consisting of Aston Merrygold, Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill and Oritse Williams – will rush back into the studio following their last show in March because they need new material before they embark on their first large-scale arena tour at the end of next year.

He added: “That should be ready to go by November and fans will be able to hear the new songs at the arena tour next December.”

Last month, the band – who were runners-up in last year’s UK TV singing contest ‘The X Factor’ – signed an expensive deal with record label EMI which will help them cash in from their new material.

The R’n’B star has a huge crush on the “wild” former Spice Girl and admits she would be his dream Christmas present.

He said: “If there was one thing I could have for Christmas, it would be Mel B in my stocking. She’s the perfect woman – sexy, confident and slightly wild!”

Although Oritse won’t get the chance to unwrap Mel – who is married to Stephen Belafonte – he did get to unwrap a female fan wearing nipple tassels who had disguised herself as a present and waited outside the house he was in with his JLS bandmates.

Oritse recalled: “She was covered in wrapping paper with a message saying, ‘Please open.’ When I pulled off the paper there was a girl underneath wearing a French maid’s outfit and nipple tassels. She was in her 20s – thank God!”

JLS – also comprised of Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes and Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill – rose to fame when they came second in last year’s ‘X Factor’ competition and are now currently riding high in both the UK singles and album charts.

The girl hid herself in a holdall matching that of the group’s luggage at a hotel they were staying at in Dublin, Ireland, in the hope of being smuggled to the airport with the four boys.

However, the ‘Beat Again’ singers’ entourage noticed the bag containing the girl was “moving” and rescued her before she was packed into the back of the tour bus.

A source close to the group told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “It’s getting to the point where the fanaticism is dangerous.

“This girl was so meticulous. She had brought along her own bag to match the luggage the guys normally use. But it was moving slightly and didn’t have any tags so one of the security lads saw it.

“When the girl was pulled out she had been in there for at least half an hour and was close to fainting.”

Unfortunately for the fan, the group – Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold, Jonathan “JB” Gill And Oritse Williams – had already left the hotel in separate cars, leaving the girl, who was wearing a T-shirt of the band, disappointed.

The source added: “She was looking for the boys but they had already left.

“She was distraught but managed to slip away, pretending she needed the toilet.”

Last weekend, JLS had to cut short a performance in Birmingham, England, after 20,000 fans turned up to see them and a host of other acts switch on the city’s Christmas lights and perform for free.

Around 60 people were injured as fans rushed to try and get into the show bustling past security.

The Barbados-born singer – who made a return to the UK this week to preview her uop LP ‘Rated R’ and it’s dark new sound – wanted it to be even rockier but her record label had a “seizure”.

The 21-year-old star approached guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, of US band Extreme, to play on the record but Rihanna’s record label stopped the collaboration.

Nuno told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “I think the label had a seizure so they went down another route.”

However, Rihanna was joined by Nuno on stage at her London show at the 02 Brixton Academy on Monday night (16.11.09) and after the performance he was honoured to join her.

The 43-year-old rocker said: “I’ve been asked to play with pop artists in the past but turned them down because they didn’t really get the vibe. But when I spoke to Rihanna she was totally into transforming herself into a heavy rock chick.”

At her after-party at London nightspot Mahiki on Monday, Rihanna partied with boy band JLS, singer Mr Hudson and Chipmunk.

She said: “I love British guys, they are so sweet. And the ones here tonight are so talented.”

The concert was Rihanna’s first live show since she was assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in February.
