Guess Who IS The Best Looking Man In Britan?
by Alice on Sep.13, 2010, under Actor, Award, Entertainment, Films
Colin Firth has been named Britain’s best looking man
The ‘Pride and Prejudice’ actor topped a poll of 1,500 women ahead of actors Rupert Everett and Clive Owen, comic Russell Brand and James Bond star Daniel Craig.
Sally Allen, of Wizard Jeans which commissioned the survey, said: “A handsome profile may be heaven-sent but looking good is usually a much more down-to-earth process, concerned with grooming and making the most of your natural attractiveness.
“I’ve heard girls talking about Colin Firth’s brooding good looks when they are probably referring to his demeanour, grooming and image. And that’s something you can work on.
“But it’s unlikely that many men will be able to recreate the magical moment when Mr Darcy came out of the lake, dripping wet – yet positively perfect and sexy – making all the women watching take a very deep breath.”
Original James Bond star Sir Sean Connery, was voted ninth, while soccer superstar David Beckham and actor Orlando Bloom narrowly missed out on the top ten coming in at numbers 11 and 12 respectively.

James Bond Has Been Voted The Ultimate Icon
by cyan on Aug.06, 2010, under Award
The movie spy – most recently portrayed on the big screen by Daniel Craig – topped a poll of over 7,000 British men with a huge 64 per cent of the vote, beating time traveller The Doctor from the TV series ‘Doctor Who’ and computer game hero Super Mario into second and third place respectively.
Andrew Lubega, editor of AskMen UK, who compiled the survey, told BANG Showbiz: “For a number of decades now, James Bond has continued to be the ultimate symbol in cool for men worldwide – and in 2010 things are no different.
“He’s cool, confident, strong, sharply-dressed and not lacking in a gag or two. And if that wasn’t enough, in between killing off the bad guys he always finds time to shack up with a variety of gorgeous women.”
Other people to make the list of fictional characters men most want to be like were Mad Men’s Don Draper – played by John Hamm – in fourth place and superhero Kick-Ass, who was portrayed in the recent movie of the same name by Aaron Johnson, completing the top five.
Survey participants were asked which fictional character they would like to be as part of the lifestyle website’s Great Male survey.

Gemma Arterton Didn’t Get To Hang Out With Jake Gyllenhaal
by Abbey on May.10, 2010, under Actor, Actress
Gemma Arterton didn’t get to hang out with Jake Gyllenhaal while making ‘Prince of Persia: Sands of Time’ – because he was always in the gym.
The 24-year-old actress – who plays Princess Tamina in the action adventure movie – admits there was little time to get to know the Oscar-nominated star because he was so busy bulking up to play the titular character Prince Dastan.
Speaking at the world premiere of the Disney film at the Vue cinema in London’s Westfield shopping centre yesterday (09.05.10), she told BANG Showbiz “We didn’t have time to socialise. He was too busy in the gym – although we did go to dinner. It was all very civilized.
“But he’s so much fun. He’s gorgeous.”
The British beauty is no stranger to the gym and keeps in shape by avoiding sugary sweets and exercising when she needs to.
She said: “I don’t eat boxes and boxes of chocolates! But I still eat what I like. And I do a bit of exercise.”
Gemma was joined on the red carpet by her ‘Prince of Persia…’ co-stars Jake, Sir Ben Kingsley and producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Mike Newell.
Other stars on the red carpet included The Saturdays star Una Healy, Kerry Katona and singer Paloma Faith.

Gemma Arterton Isn’t Enough Of A “sex goddess” To Please Fans
by Abbey on Apr.21, 2010, under Actress
Gemma Arterton isn’t enough of a “sex goddess” to please fans of the ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ computer game.
The British actress has been told by fans of the computer game – which her latest film is based on – she doesn’t meet their expectations for her character, Princess Tamina, leaving her scared to go to a comic convention to promote the film.
Gemma said: “They want me to go to Comic-Con. It kind of worries me. I’ve had letters telling me I’m not right for the part because I don’t look like the girl in the video game!
“She really is this sex goddess. They’ve got massively high standards.”
Gemma’s character’s name was changed from Farah to Tamina for the ‘Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time’ film, in which she stars alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays the lead character Prince Dalston. The film is an adaptation of a 2003 computer game of the same name and sees the prince and princess trying to prevent an epic sandstorm swallowing their homeland.
Despite Gemma’s Hollywood career taking off – with a role in ‘Clash Of the Titans’ and having previously appeared as one of the women seduced by the British spy character James Bond in ‘Quantum of Solace’- she also appears in low budget thriller film ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’, a film she wholeheartedly believed in enough to appear naked.
She added to Details magazine: “This is the sort of movie I always imagined I’d end up doing. This is the sort of movie I’d go to see in the cinema.
“I wouldn’t get my clothes off for just any film. On camera I really didn’t give a s**t, but as soon as they said ‘Cut!’ I was like, ‘Someone put the dressing gown over me!’”

What Pierce Brosnan Thinks About Robert Pattinson?
by cyan on Mar.31, 2010, under Actor, Fans, Roles
Pierce Brosnan has revealed his ‘Remember Me’ co-star Robert Pattinson was pursued by beautiful girls on set every day.
The former James Bond star – who plays Robert’s estranged father in the gripping family drama – had to make do with older admirers while the 23-year-old heartthrob soaked up the attention of screaming teenagers.
Pierce, who shot the movie with Robert in New York, told Empire magazine: “I remember being outside the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. We were shooting in the Oak Room and there were 2,000 girls out there from 12 to 21. Actually, there were some gorgeous looking girls out there, but they weren’t around my caravan. I had the mothers at my end and some beauties there were too! But it was very sedate by my end of the motor homes. I’d walk out and get a hearty cheer. I’d trip up the steps of the Plaza feeling very good with myself that I still have the juice. But as I’d be walking down the corridors into the Plaza I would hear this wave, this cacophony of sound as girls clamoured for Robert. His girls go through the rafters for him.”
The 56-year-old star thinks Robert – who has become an international heartthrob after playing vampire Edward Cullen in the ‘Twilight’ movies – will be able to handle his enormous fame, but he personally finds it almost incomprehensible.
He added: “I never experienced anything like that as a young man of 23. I’m sure he’ll weather the waters swimmingly. He’s a grand lad and I wish him well in every way.”

Vampire Edward Cullen Fond Of “James Bond”
The New Moon’s romantic vampire Robert Pattinson is keen to act as the legendary super spy “James Bond”
The “Twilight” star is a huge fan of the Bond movies, but he also admitted he may have to struggle in certain areas of Bond’s all-action job.
Robert Pattinson is passionate about music and he was checking out a guitar at a store in Tarzana, where he singed it. This guitar was later put up for sale on internet auction site eBay.com and the money would be donated for charity.
James Bond Taught Vampire Edward Cullen How To Cope With Fans
by Alice on Feb.16, 2010, under Actor
The ‘Twilight’ heartthrob worked alongside the James Bond actor in new movie ‘Remember Me’ and says he was impressed with Pierce’s reaction to all the attention they received when they went for dinner.
He said: “He’s totally recognisable, and he makes no effort to tone it down. Some people were glancing over at us in the restaurant, and he just went over and introduced himself. And it does work. It dissipates all the attention.”
“But me? I just crawl under the table.”
However, Robert, 23, struggles to cope with that side of fame and is still amazed when his movie sets are mobbed by fans.
He added to America’s Vogue magazine: “Everybody knows where everybody is. The twitter thing is unbelievable.
“When filming ‘Remember Me’, it was the most ridiculous experience. You’re trying to stay in character and you’re trying to walk down the street, but all those people keep reminding you that you’re not this character.”

Sarah Harding – Wants To Play A Villain In The Next James Bond Movie
by Kavy on Dec.22, 2009, under Singer
The Girls Aloud singer – who recently starred as a schoolgirl alongside Rupert Everett and David Tennant in the movie ‘St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold’ – dreams of playing a villain in the next movie about the iconic British spy, currently played by Daniel Craig.
She said: “I need to work on my skills, that’s the priority. I’d love to do some action stuff. I’d be good as the kind of character that Grace Jones played in ‘A View to a Kill’ – a bad Bond girl! I don’t see myself doing the glamour stuff. I’m kind of edgier.”
The 28-year-old singer-turned-actress – who has been able to pursue an acting career because Girls Aloud are currently on hiatus – also revealed she is very proud of her bandmate Cheryl Cole’s solo pop success.
She added: “We’re all really supportive of each other. I’m proud of her. “We all took this break and you don’t do that without having an action plan. And that’s what Cheryl’s plan was.”

Zac Efron Wants To Act As A villain In A James Bond Movie
by Alice on Nov.23, 2009, under Actor

The ‘Me and Orson Welles’ actor – who is best known for his role as clean-cut student Troy Bolton in the ‘High School Musical’ franchise – loves the series of films about the iconic British spy and wants a role in the next addition in the franchise, which currently stars Daniel Craig as the lead character.
He said: “I’m a huge James Bond fan. I’d love to be a Bond baddie. I’ve seen pretty much every Bond film. Sean Connery is my favourite and I really like ‘Goldeneye’ with Pierce Brosnan.”
As well as playing a villain, 22-year-old Zac also wants to be seduced by an older woman on the big screen, revealing his ideal part would be to star in a remake of ‘The Graduate’.
Asked about his dream movie roles, he told Absolute Radio host Christian O’Connell: “I’m still waiting for that script and that director. I like a lot of movies from the 70s. A movie I just saw again and one of my favourites is ‘The Graduate’.”

Ashley Greene’s Dog Is Also A Hollywood Star
by cyan on Nov.10, 2009, under Actress

The ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ actress can’t open a magazine without seeing photos of her pooch Marlow inside and believes it must be “mind-boggling” for fellow actors to understand why the white toy fox terrier has such a high profile.
She said: “It’s crazy, right? I think my dog is more famous than a lot of stars out there. I bet some people in Hollywood are like, ‘I can’t get my picture in a magazine, but Ashley’s pooch does?’ It’s mind-boggling.”
The 22-year-old actress – who plays vampire Alice in the hit movie franchise – also admitted she only felt nervous after landing the role when she realised how much attention the films were attracting.
She told America’s Maxim magazine: “Oh, my God, I wanted this part so badly! I worked my butt off for it because I absolutely love Alice, my character.
“She’s sweet, sexy, and a killer! So when they told me I got it, I tried to play it all cool, you know, for about a minute.
“Suddenly the ‘Twilight’ blogs started picking it up, and then fans were there taking photos, and I’m on the news, and I was like, ‘What?’ And then I got really nervous.”
However, the brunette has no plans to go for more low-key roles in future and has set her sights on appearing in a James Bond movie.
Asked what she wants to do in the future, she said: “I want to hit up James Bond. That would be awesome.”

Mel Gibson Was Not Tall Enough To Play James Bond
by cyan on Nov.10, 2009, under Actor

The ‘Braveheart’ star’s 5ft 9in frame was deemed unsuitable to make a convincing portrayal of the iconic British spy – who is currently played by Daniel Craig – while producer Albert R ‘Cubby’ Broccoli was also concerned that he was too famous for the role.
Scriptwriter Tom Mankiewicz - who wrote James Bond favourites ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’ and ‘Live And Let Die’ – said: “At one point Mel Gibson wanted to play Bond. And Cubby was against it. Cubby first of all had a thing about tall people.
“Bond had to be tall. And so Mel Gibson was too short. But he was a big star.
“Somebody at United Artists said to me, ‘Call him and tell him Mel Gibson would be great.’ And Cubby said, ‘I don’t want to make a Mel Gibson movie, I want to make a James Bond movie.’”
While Mel was desperate to portray James Bond, fellow Hollywood star Gerard Butler recently insisted he would never want to take on the role.
He said:”I enjoy doing an array of films. If I was to play Bond, that would quickly stop. How likely would I be accepted doing those roles after having played Bond?
“People outside of movies think it would be amazing to play 007, but as an actor you think, ‘Well I don’t know because from then on…’
“You do a lot of movies as Bond and you’d become even more synonymous with the role. I think Daniel Craig is a great Bond and good for him, but I would much rather create a role from nothing.”

Kate Winslet Is Worth £60 Million To Britain, According To Statistical Research
by cyan on Nov.09, 2009, under Actress

The ‘Reader’ actress was the first celebrity to be “audited” by the UK Film Council, which looked to put a specific value on the country’s creative industries and chose the English star as the first example for her success abroad and public profile.
David Steele, the head of research and statistics at the UK Film Council, explained: “When an actor achieves international prominence, they have a general effect of boosting their country of origin that works its way through television appearances, advertising and celebrity news.”
A friend said Kate – who won the Best Actress Oscar for ‘The Reader’ this year – found it “both flattering and very funny”.
The audit assessed salaries, profile and “box-office effect” on tourism and entertainment sales to find the figure, which has been nicknamed ‘the Winslet algorithm’ and may now be used to work out the value of other famous faces, including ‘The Dark Knight’ star Christian Bale and current James Bond Daniel Craig.
Kate, 34, is estimated to have earned £20 million from her movies since 1995, while the head designer of car manufacturer Jaguar admitted he had Kate’s curves in mind when designing the new XK model.
The ‘Revolutionary Road’ star is Britain’s third-highest paid actor – earning £6 million for ‘Finding Neverland – with ‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe and ‘Hugh Grant’ earning £8.2 million and £7.5 million respectively for ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ and ‘Two Weeks Notice’.

Hugh Jackman Has A Happy Marriage Because He Has Date Nights
by cyan on Oct.30, 2009, under Actor

The ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ star - who has been married to Deborra-Lee Furness since 1996 – has revealed he and Deborra always make time to just be with one another to keep the romance in their relationship alive.
He told America’s OK! magazine: “Make sure you have a date night just the two of you together, without the kids.”
The 41-year-old actor has two adopted children, Oscar, nine, and Ava, four, with his wife – who he met on the set of Australian TV show ‘Correlli’.
Although Hugh will be acting alongside James Bond actor Daniel Craig in play ‘Steady Rain’ – which is running on New York’s famous Broadway theatre district – on Halloween (31.10.09), he will still be making time for his family.
He said: “I’m going to be trick-or-treating. I’ll help them get dressed.”
Hugh has often spoken of how he knew he would marry Deborra-Lee as soon as he saw her on the ‘Correlli’ set in 1995.
He said: “She was beautiful and larger than life. Everyone on set was in love with her. I had a crush on her for ages and started planning my proposal after three months.”
