Anne Hathaway insists Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood

The actress has starred with the heartthrob actor in two movies and insists he is always a pleasure to work with as he hasn’t let his fame and sex symbol status make him arrogant.

She said: “I know actors always say this about each other but he really is lovely. I worked with him on ‘Brokeback Mountain’ and then five years later on ‘Love and Other Drugs’; he was a great guy then and still is. He’s a real person.

“That’s a weird compliment, but someone’s as good looking as he is, with as much adoration from such a young age, they could easily be a nightmare, or stuck-up jerk. But he’s a good guy.”

Jake isn’t the only person in Hollywood Anne admires.

The 28-year-old screen star has a great deal of respect for Helena Bonham Carter and her partner, director Tim Burton, for the way they live their lives and their approaches to movie making.

She added to new! magazine: “I worked with them on ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and they’re just so lovely. Tim marches to his own beat and he doesn’t hear, or worry, about anyone else. I think that’s something that he and Helena have in common. They’re just living their own lives, as themselves, and they really don’t care what people think. I find that so liberating. I really just think they’re the coolest people on the planet.”

Taylor Swift was put off eating when her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal ended

The ‘Love Story’ hitmaker – who dated Jake from October to December last year – was reportedly dumped by the ‘Love & Other Drugs’ actor by telephone, leaving her “upset and hurt” and unable to eat.

A source who saw the singer at the People’s Choice Awards on January 5, said: “She was not her usual bubbly, over-animated self.

“She didn’t eat anything seemed very sad and definitely wasn’t having a good time.”

Another friend added the phone call-ending was what left the 21-year-old singer the most angry, and told US Weekly: “Taylor is really upset and hurt. She doesn’t know what she did for him to just put a stop to it. She feels really burned by him.”

Reports have claimed 30 year old Jake was “uncomfortable” with the nine year age-gap between him and Taylor, leading to him calling time on the romance.

Jake Gyllenhaal collects cook books

The ‘Love and Other Drugs’ actor – who recently split from singer Taylor Swift – enjoys spending time in the kitchen and is “obsessed” with recipe collections.

He said: “I’ve always loved cooking, probably because my father and other always cooked.

“I have a massive section in my library at home of beautiful old cook books. I really have a strange obsession with them.”

Though Jake collects recipe books, he prefers to come up with his own culinary creations rather than following guidelines.

He added: “If I’m making a romantic dinner. I like to go to a farmers’ market first, buy things fresh and come up with my own dish based on whatever I’ve bought.

“I grow my own vegetables at home because I love fresh food.”

The 30-year-old star recently admitted he never worried about trying to get in shape for his nude scenes in ‘Love and Other Drugs’ because he already eats healthily and didn’t think it would suit his character if he bulked up.

He said: “I didn’t think about getting in shape. I wanted my character to be a little sinewy and slimy.

“I used to go to the gym but I don’t do that anymore.

“They love coffee, so he sent her 21 pounds of the best Kona coffee available, along with a coffee grinder and a coffeemaker. And he made her a birthday card, as opposed to buying a generic one!”

As well as Jake’s efforts to please Taylor, the singer is also doing her best to make the actor happy, with her friends claiming she has even changed her style to suit her boyfriend’s tastes.

One insider explained: “She’s decided to get a more sophisticated look. She’s buying from stores like Chanel, Prada and Hermes.”

As well as the bracelet and the coffee, it has also been claimed that Jake paid $11,000 for a guitar signed by country music icon Chet Atkins for his girlfriend.

Jake Gyllenhaal refuses to wear underwear when filming sex scenes

The 29-year-old actor – who is currently dating 21-year-old country singer Taylor Swift – was happy to get naked for his role in movie ‘Love & Other Drugs’ because he believes the audience needed to see him without clothes to believe his relationship with co-star Anne Hathaway’s character was real.

He said: “If we were going to be as open and intimate in a love story as we could be we have to do the same thing with sex.

“When you see two people in a movie like that, particularly as an actor, and they are portraying two people in love, it’s like, how do you even unconsciously believe people are in love if they don’t want to be naked around each other.

“I don’t know about you guys but I’ve never had sex with underwear on and it’s an odd thing to watch an actor do. You can try but I wouldn’t recommend it! So that was really important. We knew that if we did we would get somewhere in the audiences’ unconscious that these were people who were actually in love and not just actors telling a love story.”

The Hollywood hunk wasn’t scared about getting nude and didn’t consider working out any harder at the gym for the role of pharmaceutical rep’ Jamie Randall.

Anne Hathaway accepts she has to get naked as an actress

The 28-year-old screen beauty – who flashes her flesh in a number of scenes in her new film ‘Love & Other Drugs’ alongside Jake Gyllenhaal – is happy to take her clothes off for the cameras if the role requires nudity and she relies on her co-stars to help her overcome any pre-scene nerves.

She told BANG Showbiz: “Doing nudity is really a part of being an actor and you know at some point it might happen. But everyone wants to be respectful of each other and everyone wants each other to feel as comfortable as possible so I think those days have a focus.

“In this film (‘Love & Other Drugs’) we really approached it from a very prepared place. We discussed what we wanted to do beforehand and what we were comfortable with, we traded references from other films to establish an index of communicational references that we share. So by the time we came to do the scenes we were very well prepared.”

Although she is happy to bare all on film, Anne she needed to work closely with Jake on the lovemaking sequences.

She said: “Some of the intimate scenes required even more trust and were even more difficult to get to and work through – to get yourself into that place and sustain it for a long period of time to be able to return back to those emotions again and again and again. Physical challenges are one thing but to actually leave yourself open and to mean it I find quite difficult some days.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is an “old hand” at getting naked on-screen

The ‘Love & Other Drugs’ star – who strips off for his latest role alongside actress Anne Hathaway – explained while nudity can be “uncomfortable” at times, he’s already done so many “crazy” things throughout his career he is now used to it.

He explained: “It’s uncomfortable when you’re naked on set, but I do feel like an old hand at it at this point. I’ve done some pretty crazy things already. My parents taught me to feel comfortable about my body. They told me there’s a beauty in whatever you are.

“Also, I feel it’s very important to portray love and sex in the right way. Besides, in our case, we’d already had faux movie sex in ‘Brokeback Mountain‘. So we were relatively comfortable.”

Jake also admitted the untimely death of his ‘Brokeback Mountain’ co-star Heath Ledger is something which affected him a great deal.

He added to Live magazine: “I do miss him. There was an intimacy that we all shared on that film – I’d never experienced anything like it. It was just us by this river in Calgary for a month, in the middle of nowhere.

“There were no hotels to stay in so we lived in trailers out there in the wilds. We would make coffee together in the morning, eat together and sometimes we’d ride horses to work. We were out there alone and all we had was each other.”

The ‘Love Story’ singer – who is rumoured to be dating actor Jake Gyllenhaal – turns 21 on December 13 and loves celebrating during the festive season because it means there is less focus on her.

She explained: “I love having a Christmas themed birthday party so people can give each other presents at my birthday party, so it’s not so much a spotlight birthday [thing] — especially with a 21st birthday where people are like, ‘Huh? Huh? What’s she gonna do?’

This news comes shortly after Taylor – who has dated ‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner and was famously dumped by Joe Jonas over the phone – hit the headlines with her new album ‘Speak Now’, which she claims contains songs aimed at her ex-boyfriends.

She explained: “I will say everything in my music. There’s been extreme joy, extreme pain, extreme curveballs. Sometimes when things impact you so intensely, it takes writing a song to get over them.”

Robert Pattinson has been named the world’s sexiest man

The ‘Twilight‘ hunk has topped Glamour’s 50 Sexiest Men poll for the second year running, after fighting off stiff competition from other actors starring in vampire-based productions.

The top five was dominated by ‘Twilight’ actors, with 18-year-old Taylor Lautner – who plays Jacob Black, the werewolf love rival to Robert’s character Edward Cullen in the hit film franchise –in second place, and Xavier Samuel and Kellan Lutz placed fourth and fifth respectively.

The hunky trio were rivalled by ‘The Vampire Diaries’ star Ian Somerhalder, who was voted third in the survey, proving that women can’t get enough of men with fangs.

Glamour’s acting editor Charlotte Duck said: “Women are attracted to vampires because of the element of danger that comes with them. They are the ultimate bad boys – and women want to tame the beasts.”

The list – which was compiled from over 50,000 votes by readers of Glamour.com – also included many shocks, with many attractive stars being placed further down the list than in previous years.

Johnny Depp dropped from second place to sixth, while soccer star David Beckham slipped from fourth down to 21st.

Hollywood legend George Clooney only reached position 35 on the list, while Leonardo DiCaprio, Keanu Reeves and Jude Law- who have scored highly in the survey in recent years – did not even feature.

Jacob “Jake” Gyllenhaal (born December 19, 1980) is an American actor. The son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner, he began acting at age ten. He has appeared in diverse roles since his first lead role in 1999’s October Sky, followed by the 2001 indie cult hit Donnie Darko, in which he played a psychologically troubled teen and onscreen brother to his real-life sister, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal.

In the 2004 blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow he portrayed a student caught in a cataclysmic global cooling event, alongside Dennis Quaid as his father. He then played against type as a frustrated Marine in Jarhead (2005). The same year, Jake won critical acclaim as Jack Twist in the film Brokeback Mountain opposite Heath Ledger.

Jake has become an activist, promoting various political and social causes. He appeared in Rock the Vote advertising, campaigned for the Democratic Party in the 2004 election, and promoted environmental causes and the American Civil Liberties Union.

2005 was a prolific year for Gyllenhaal, who starred in the critically praised films Proof, Jarhead, and Brokeback Mountain. In Proof, featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins, Jake played a graduate student in mathematics who tries to convince Paltrow’s character to publish a revolutionary proof to a problem puzzling the mathematicians’ community. In Jarhead, he played against his usual “sensitive yet disturbed” type by displaying an aggressive masculinity as a violent U.S. Marine during the first Gulf War. Jake also auditioned to be Batman for one of the biggest blockbusters Batman Begins and came close to getting the role but Christian Bale was ultimately chosen for it.

Kellan Lutz has the Best Summer Body.

‘Twilight’ actor Kellan Lutz has been named the male star with the Best Summer Body, according to Men’s Health magazine.

The ripped ‘Twilight’ star has topped a list compiled by the editors of MensHealth.com to find the star with the perfect beach body.

The 25-year-old hunk beat toned actor Matthew McConaughey and his muscular ‘Twilight’ co-star Taylor Lautner to the top spot.

David Zinczenko, editor-in-chief of Men’s Health, said: “All of this year’s finalists have a deep commitment to working out, staying fit and eating smart. They have a variety of workout regimes from boxing to weight training, kayaking and hiking to training for marathons. They’ve worked hard to achieve and maintain their amazing bodies – which is why they’ve earned their place on this year’s list.”

Other stars to make the final 10 include Zac Efron, who came fourth, Jake Gyllenhaal – who was placed at number eight after bulking up for his role as Prince Dastan in ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ – and Daniel Craig and Channing Tatum, who finished ninth and tenth respectively.

Gabriella Cilmi wants to date an older man.

The 19-year-old singer – who is currently single – admits she has a strict list of criteria when looking for a partner, with one of the most essential attributes being prowess in the kitchen.

She said: “I think I have a thing for older men like Robert Downey Jr.

“Tall dark and handsome… someone who cracks me up, makes me laugh, someone intelligent, someone who can cook, I can’t at all… so yes, someone who can cook better than me. That’s very important.”

The ‘Woman On A Mission’ hitmaker even admitted she burst into tears when she met one of her biggest crushes, 56-year-old John Travolta.

She told BANG Showbiz: “I met John Travolta at a Formula 1 event where I sang the national anthem. He was waving the flag at the start of the race and I was crying. The mayor introduced us… John has these really piercing blue eyes. I was just crying, and kept thinking ‘that’s Danny Zucko, that’s Danny Zucko!’ I used to watch ‘Grease‘ over and over again.”

The ‘Sweet About Me’ star would also like to go on a date with Jake Gyllenhaal, ten years her senior, but admitted she’d probably be so nervous she wouldn’t be able to speak to him.

She said: “I can’t wait to see ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ with Jake Gyllenhaal, he’s pretty fine if I might say so. I probably wouldn’t be able to talk properly though because when I get nervous I can’t construct a sentence.”

Gemma Arterton didn’t get to hang out with Jake Gyllenhaal while making ‘Prince of Persia: Sands of Time’ – because he was always in the gym.

The 24-year-old actress – who plays Princess Tamina in the action adventure movie – admits there was little time to get to know the Oscar-nominated star because he was so busy bulking up to play the titular character Prince Dastan.

Speaking at the world premiere of the Disney film at the Vue cinema in London’s Westfield shopping centre yesterday (09.05.10), she told BANG Showbiz “We didn’t have time to socialise. He was too busy in the gym – although we did go to dinner. It was all very civilized.

“But he’s so much fun. He’s gorgeous.”

The British beauty is no stranger to the gym and keeps in shape by avoiding sugary sweets and exercising when she needs to.

She said: “I don’t eat boxes and boxes of chocolates! But I still eat what I like. And I do a bit of exercise.”

Gemma was joined on the red carpet by her ‘Prince of Persia…’ co-stars Jake, Sir Ben Kingsley and producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Mike Newell.
