Elizabeth Hurley On Hugh Grant

by Kavy on Apr.16, 2011, under Actress

Elizabeth HurleyElizabeth Hurley considers Hugh Grant as “one of her family”

The 45-year-old beauty has remained “best friends” with the actor – whom she dated for 13 years until 2000 – and though they quarrel all the time, she loves nothing more than spending time with her former boyfriend.

She said: “Hugh and I met in 1987 on the set on a movie in Madrid and have been best friend ever since. I completely consider him one of my family and love spending time with him, even though we annoy each other at times.

“We rarely get through a day without fighting, but we always end up laughing.” The pair are so close the 50-year-old star is even godfather to Elizabeth’s son Damian and has a close relationship to the nine-year-old boy.

The actress said: “Damian adores his godfather and Hugh is great with him.” And although Elizabeth – who is in the process of divorcing husband Arun Nayar – thinks the idea of her ever being romantically involved with the ‘Notting Hill’ star again is “preposterous” she imagines they could end up living like a married couple.

She said: “It makes us laugh as the idea is sort of preposterous. We’ve often said though, if all else fails, we’ll end up living together again.”

The ‘Love Actually’ star is a huge fan of the ‘Twilight’ heartthrob and can understand why women of all ages fawn over him.

He said: “I haven’t watched the second part yet of ‘Twilight’ yet, but I understand the fascination with Robert. I think he’s really sexy!”

Hugh, 49, also revealed how he thought he looked sexy when he wore a cowboy hat in movie ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ – until he saw himself on screen.

He said: “I thought I looked pretty sexy with the Stetson hat. At least I was hoping I would. But after watching the film I have to admit I looked quite daft.

“But you have to know that I always tell the costume designers to make me look as attractive as possible.”

Recently there were reports Hugh was going to quit acting after he said it so many times but now he has just decided to see what projects come his way.

He told Germany’s OK! magazine: “I realised that I’m going to make a fool of myself if I keep talking about it. So from now on I’m going to shut up about it.”

Hugh Grant Blames Himself For Being A Bachelor

by Alice on Dec.18, 2009, under Actor

Hugh Grant

The British actor, who has had a string of beautiful girlfriends including Elizabeth Hurley and Jemima Khan, admits he had ample opportunities to marry.

He said: “I should settle down. It’s all my fault, I’ve had some lovely girlfriends.”

The 49-year-old star is getting worried as he approaches his landmark birthday. He said: “I don’t know how to cope with it.”

Despite his age concerns, Hugh had a great time shooting his most recent movie ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ with Sarah Jessica Parker.

He admits he was surprised at some of Sarah’s on set behaviour.

He joked to BBC TV talk show host Jonathan Ross: “She’s full of surprises. She eats a lot… whatever you put in front of her is gone in five seconds.”

Sarah Jessica Parker Sympathised With The Cow Which Kicked Her

by Alice on Dec.17, 2009, under Actress

Sarah Jessica Parker

The actress struggled to get to grips with country life when making ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ – in which she stars with Hugh Grant – and was particularly dismayed when producers insisted on adding the unfortunate encounter to the final cut.

She said: “I didn’t enjoy attempting to milk a cow, or ride a horse, or shoot a rifle. I have other fantasies, none of which include milking a cow! The cow kicked me in the middle of the scene and they left it in. It’s right there for everyone to see. But I sympathised with the cow. I didn’t belong there and she knew it.”

Despite her bad bovine experience, Sarah loved starring in the movie because she had wanted to work alongside Hugh for so long.

The 44-year-old actress – who has three children, eight-year-old James and six-month-old twins Marion and Tabitha, with husband Matthew Broderick – explained to Parade.com: “I think I remember auditioning to co-star with Hugh in ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’. I think I did. I know I screen tested for ‘Nine Months’. Of course, I didn’t get either. I have wanted to appear opposite him in a romantic comedy for basically as long as Americans, especially women, have known and loved Hugh Grant.

“Every time I kissed Hugh, I told him I was doing it for America.”

Hugh Grant Thinks He Is ‘very picky’ And ‘very limited’ As An Actor

by cyan on Dec.17, 2009, under Actor, Roles

Hugh GrantThe ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ star – who is known for playing suave English men in romantic comedy films – doesn’t work on as many movies as his peers because he’s “picky” and can only act a certain type of character.

He said: “I’m very picky but also very limited as an actor. There’s not much I can do.

“I’ve always said that if you give me an Ibsen script, I can get away with it. But there are a lot of people who can do it better. I think that’s right. And if you’re going to put all this effort and heartache… if you put a year of your life into this, it’s only worth it if you think you have something to offer in this area.”

The 49-year-old star also spoke about the crippling panic attacks he suffered while filming 2007 comedy ‘Music and Lyrics’ and admitted he almost quit acting as a result.

He told the USA Today newspaper: “I had all these panic attacks. They’re awful. I freeze like a rabbit. Can’t speak, can’t think, sweating like a bull. When I got home from doing that job, I said to myself, ‘No more acting. End of films.’ I really needed a big temptation to come back. I saw some doctors about getting over my panic attacks. They kind of convinced me I could.

“I’m pulled in two different directions. Part of me wants to hide, preferably under the bed, and not have anyone come near me. But I’m not happy if I’m not occasionally achieving something. My ego demands it.”

Hugh Grant’s Drunk Deal Made Him £11 Million

by Alice on Dec.14, 2009, under Actor

Hugh Grant

The ‘Did You Hear About the Morgans?’ star purchased the Andy Warhol painting in 2001 for £2 million and was praised for his knowledge of the art world when he sold it for £13 million in 2007.

But Hugh, 49, has confessed he ordered a member of his staff to bid for the painting at a New York auction during two-days of drinking.

He is quoted by the Mail Online website as saying: “To my horror, she did, and even worse, got it. It all began with drink. I’d been having a drunken dinner with my father the night before, and I said, ‘We ought to go see my brother Jamie. You know, the Concorde’s amazing.’

‘And he said, ‘I hear it is.’ So I bought him a Concorde ticket and we went. We had lunch, drank a lot of beer. And I was thinking about some stuff in the Sotheby’s auction and I saw the Liz Taylor. I slightly regret selling it now, even though it made me rich.”

The pop art painting was one of several portraits Warhol created at the height of his fame and creative output in the 60s.

Sam Elliot Believes Hugh Grant Is A Very Charming Romantic Man

by Alice on Dec.10, 2009, under Actor

Hugh Grant

The ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ actor claims his British co-star – who he appears alongside with Sarah Jessica Parker in the new romantic comedy – could talk himself out of any bad situation because of his well-spoken voice and gentlemanly demeanour.

He told BANG Showbiz: “I’ve never known anybody that can get away with the s**t that Hugh Grant gets away with. And he gets away with it because he’s so damn charming. He gets away with everything. I couldn’t get away with the stuff he gets away with – I mean I wouldn’t even try!”

The 65-year-old film star learned a lot from his ladies man co-star.

He explained: “Hugh Grant is the main man. He’s the number one romantic comedy man in the world.”

Despite his own glittering career, Sam admits he found it daunting working with Hugh, Sarah and director Marc Lawrence.

Sam – who starred in ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ and ‘Roadhouse’, which also starred Patrick Swayze – explained: “The highlight was just being part of it. You know, I don’t often get romantic comedies coming my way. It was wonderful – particularly when it’s a script from director Marc Lawrence. He is very smart. He really gives in his filmmaking and makes it enjoyable to be on set everyday. If you couple that with the fact that you are working with Hugh and Sarah… it was incredible. But it was a little daunting initially.”

Sarah Jessica Parker Speaks About- Relationships

by Alice on Dec.09, 2009, under Actress

Sarah Jessica Parker

The ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ actress – who raises three children with her actor husband Matthew Broderick – insists she isn’t a good person to go to for romantic advice, despite being married for 12 years.

She told BANG Showbiz: “What’s the secret to a successful relationship? Oh I’m no relationship expert I’ve no idea. You should speak to someone with a doctorate if you want advice!”

The 44-year-old screen beauty was in London’s Leicester Square last night (09.12.09) with her co-star Hugh Grant for the Gala Premiere of the romantic comedy, in which they play a married couple who battle to rekindle their romance.

Despite the cold and wet weather, Sarah looked stunning as she snuggled up to Hugh for photographs while wearing a hot pink dress and sky-scraper heels.

She said: “I’m loving London. I always love London. Am I cold? Oh God, compared to New York, no I’m not. It’s practically mild!”

Sarah and Matthew had twin daughters Marion Loretta and Tabitha Lodge via a surrogate mother in June, and the ‘Sex and the City’ star admits they are “wonderful”.

She said: “The babies are very wonderful. Filming this was a long time to be away from home but, you know, I don’t want the time back.”

Sarah also revealed she loves visiting London because the people are so “sophisticated”.

She explained: “I love this city. I’ve loved it since I was a little girl. I remember the first time I came here in 1976 when I was a little girl and I always thought, ‘When I grow up I’m going to move to London, because everybody there is so sophisticated.’ ”

Hugh Grant’s Dreadfull Thoughts About Reaching 50

by Alice on Dec.08, 2009, under Actor

Hugh Grant

The Hollywood bachelor – who previously dated actress-and-model Elizabeth Hurley and socialite Jemima Khan – is dreading reaching the landmark age and fears time is running out for him to get married and have children.

Hugh – who turns 50 on September 9 2010 – said: “It’s not a good number 50 and we all have age terrors sometimes in the middle of the night. I think I might have made a sort of pact with the devil in which I think I can have fun now and sort everything later. But then he comes back and says, ‘Times up and I’m taking you to hell as you’re going to be a lonely, sad old man.’”

Although the ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ star worries he won’t ever become a father, he believes he would be a great dad if he did.

He told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “I have no doubt that I’d be a marvellous father. Maybe not when they’re tiny but when they’re a little bit older I think I’d be rather good. I’ve noticed I’ve become good with my nephews and nieces and cousins, so I don’t have that doubt. ”

Hugh Grant Feels Confident To Be A Dad

by Alice on Nov.20, 2009, under Actor

Hugh Grant

The Hollywood bachelor – whose relationships with actress Elizabeth Hurley and socialite Jemima Khan broke down because he didn’t want to settle down – now he feels  is qualified to be a dad after getting plenty of practice helping with his nephews, nieces and godchildren.

But the 49-year-old actor admits he would employ a team of nannies to help raise his offspring.

Hugh – who is currently single – said: “Ten years ago, I wouldn’t have thought about having children at all. But now I have so many nephews and nieces and cousins and godchildren, I like the thought.

“But that’s on the basis that I can leave after ten minutes. I don’t know what it would be like 24 hours a day. I think I’d have a lot of nannies.”

Asked if he still believes he will raise a family of his own, he added to Parade magazine: “Yes, yes, yes. I have not given up hope!

“I find I’m not as bad with children as I used to be.”

The ‘Music and Lyrics’ star even has theories on how to raise the perfect child – by not smothering them with love.

He explained: “If you have a smothering parent, the effect it can apparently have on a child is to give them, in equal doses, a sense of too much self-esteem, because they are mummy’s little princess or prince, and low self-esteem. It affects future relationships.”

Hugh Grant Says “Golf is an addiction”

by Kavy on Nov.17, 2009, under Actor

Hugh Grant

The Hollywood bachelor – who previously dated actress Elizabeth Hurley for 13 years and socialite Jemima Khan for three years – has revealed the sport is his first love and he even gets up in the middle of the night to practice his swing.

The 49-year-old actor told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper: “When you say to a girl ‘I play golf’ her eyes glaze over. I do feel guilty about my golf. You know you’re a sad case when you spend your spare time reading books on putting or going on YouTube to watch slow motion golf swings.

“I’ll get out of bed in the middle of the night and practice my swing in front of the mirror. I’m obsessed and it’s destroying my life. Golf is an addiction.”

The ‘Notting Hill’ star – who has previously revealed he has travelled thousands of miles to play 18 holes – also spoke about the “physical sensation” he gets when he hits the little white balls.

He said: “I’ve decided the most addictive element is the physical sensation when in a rare moment you hit the ball flush in the middle of the club. The only thing that comes close is when I was taught to play the piano – the vibration when you hit a beautiful chord.”

Kate Winslet Is Worth £60 Million To Britain, According To Statistical Research

by cyan on Nov.09, 2009, under Actress

Kate Winslet

The ‘Reader’ actress was the first celebrity to be “audited” by the UK Film Council, which looked to put a specific value on the country’s creative industries and chose the English star as the first example for her success abroad and public profile.

David Steele, the head of research and statistics at the UK Film Council, explained:  “When an actor achieves international prominence, they have a general effect of boosting their country of origin that works its way through television appearances, advertising and celebrity news.”

A friend said Kate – who won the Best Actress Oscar for ‘The Reader’ this year – found it “both flattering and very funny”.

The audit assessed salaries, profile and “box-office effect” on tourism and entertainment sales to find the figure, which has been nicknamed ‘the Winslet algorithm’ and may now be used to work out the value of other famous faces, including ‘The Dark Knight’ star Christian Bale and current James Bond Daniel Craig.

Kate, 34, is estimated to have earned £20 million from her movies since 1995, while the head designer of car manufacturer Jaguar admitted he had Kate’s curves in mind when designing the new XK model.

The ‘Revolutionary Road’ star is Britain’s third-highest paid actor – earning £6 million for ‘Finding Neverland – with ‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe and ‘Hugh Grant’ earning £8.2 million and £7.5 million respectively for ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ and ‘Two Weeks Notice’.

Hugh Grant’s “suicidal” Feeling For His Performances

by cyan on Nov.04, 2009, under Actor

Hugh Grant

The ‘Love Actually’ actor told how when he has saw the first cuts of a number of his films – which include the hugely successful ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ and ‘Notting Hill’- he felt so bad about his performances he wanted to die.

He said: “Normally, when I see the first cut I’m suicidal. I want to go to that euthanasia clinic in Switzerland, Dignitas, and have myself put down.”

Despite his negativity, the actor was pleasantly surprised when he saw an early version of his latest film, comedy ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ in which he stars alongside Sarah Jessica Parker.

Hugh, 49, added: “This film looks a lot better. This one is quite beautiful.”

The self-proclaimed “reluctant actor” has threatened to quit Hollywood many times and to give up acting, even claiming he was semi-retired after appearing in ‘Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason’ in 2004. He said the reason is because he “freezes up” in front of the cameras.

He explained: “I like everything about filming except the acting. I’m wonderful in rehearsals, but I have never been very good when they actually switch the cameras on.

“In recent years I’ve had really bad attacks where I totally froze up. I thought, ‘Well, if I am going to get stage fright, then I am packing it in.’ ”

He did, however, add he would not consider joining the theatre.

He added: “I’m not suited to the theatre. I get bored after the first week.”
