Miley Cyrus has won an inspirational award

The 18-year-old actress-and-singer – who has been named as the worst celebrity influence for the past two consecutive years – was presented with the first-ever Global Action Youth Leadership Award for the positive impact she has on young people’s attitudes at a gala in Los Angeles on Friday (18.02.11) by her idol Hilary Duff.

Accepting the accolade, she said: “I got to tell you that I never thought I would get an award from Hilary Duff. This is like a dream come true to me. She inspired me.

“I want kids to do something they love. Not something that seems like a chore because someone tells them that’s the right thing to do or what their parents want or what’s important to people around them, but what’s in their heart.”

The ‘Hannah Montana‘ star recently admitted while she is happy to be seen as a role model for younger girls, she doesn’t want her fans to idolise her.

Miley explained: “If you look at me as a role model I agree with it. If you look at me as an idol, I don’t agree. An idol for me is someone that you want to replicate. You want to be them.

“I don’t wish that on anyone, to lose what they have personally, because that’s when your spark goes.”

Miley Cyrus’ father is “scared” for her

Billy Ray Cyrus admitted the star’s recent behaviour – including smoking a legal high through a bong device and throwing her 18th birthday party in a bar – have left him worried that she is being given bad advice.

He explained: “Every time the train went off the track… her people, or as they say in today’s news, her handlers, every time they’d put the blame on me… I took it because I’m her daddy… OK, nail me to the cross.

“I’m scared for her. She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger. I want to get her sheltered from the storm.

Billy Ray – who is currently in the process of divorcing Miley’s mother Tish Cyrus – also revealed he avoided the singer-and-actress’ 18th birthday party because he didn’t want to be blamed for the fact it was held at Los Angeles bar Trousdale, even though she is three years under the legal age for drinking alcohol in the US.

He explained in an interview with America’s GQ magazine: “You know why I didn’t go? Because they were having it in a bar. It was wrong. It was for 21 years old and up… all them people, they all wanted me to fly out so that then when all the bad press came they could say, ‘Daddy endorsed this stuff.’ I started realising I’m being used.

“After the incident with the legal high, her handlers told me it was none of my business.

“I should have said, ‘Enough is enough – it’s getting dangerous and somebody’s going to get hurt’…

Honestly, I didn’t know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere.”

Miley shot to fame on Disney TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ with Billy Ray, 49, playing her father but he admitted he wishes the programme had “never happened” because of the impact it had on his family life.

He said: “The damn show destroyed my family. I hate to say it, but I’d take it back in a second.”

The singer also admitted he thinks his relationship with Miley could be improved, saying their communication is “good enough to know it could be a lot better.”

Miley Cyrus has admitted she made a “bad decision” in smoking a legal high

The 18-year-old singer-and-actress was blasted last year when video footage was leaked of her inhaling a substance called salvia through a ‘bong’ device, and the ‘Hannah Montana’ star admits her position in the public eye means she should never have tried the hallucinogen.

After it is commented on that other teenagers experiment with legal highs, she told America’s Marie Claire magazine: “But they’re not Miley Cyrus. They’re not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for.”

Miley’s parents Tish and Billy Ray split up last October after 17 years of marriage and the ‘Last Song’ star admits it has been tough to cope with, though she remains optimistic she will stay close to family, including sister Noah, 10, brother Braison 16, and stepsiblings Trace, 21, Brandi, 23, and Christopher, 18.

She said: “Of course anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family. But I have a lot of hope in our family and no matter what happens, we’re gonna stay strong.”

In order to deal with her parents’ split, Miley threw herself into work and was delighted to forge a close bond with her ‘LOL’ co-star Demi Moore.

She said: “It really felt like Demi was my mom a little bit because we had such great conversations, and I feel like it shows on-screen. I can’t wait for ‘LOL’ to come out. It’s what I’m most proud of.”

Miley Cyrus’ parents Billy Ray and Tish are putting their Los Angeles home on the market

The ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ singer and his estranged wife of 17 years – who announced in October they are divorcing – have put their house at Toluca Lake up for sale for more than $7 million.

Tish has recently been spotted looking for homes in Encino, California and is believed to be downsizing to a $4.6 million pad.

It is not yet known where Billy Ray will move to.

It was recently claimed that ‘Hannah Montana‘ star Miley, 18, blames her popularity for her parents ending their marriage and would give everything up if it would mean they work things out.

A source close to the star told website Popeater.com: “It’s heartbreaking. You would think someone like Miley has everything in the world, but I guarantee she would give it all up in a second if it kept her family together.

“Every marriage struggles when a child leaves home and the relationship gets re-examined, but add on top of that that every second of the past decade Billy Ray and Tish have spent building a star together, they have forgotten to make time for each other.”

Part of the reason former country singer Billy Ray – who also appears in ‘Hannah Montana’ – and Tish are splitting is said to be because Miley – whose career is said to be worth over $50 million – has been so successful, and now she is old enough to look after herself, they don’t have other things to work at together.

Another source said recently: “Both parents have been equally involved in making their daughter a superstar.

“And now that they have achieved their goal they have nothing to work towards anymore and nothing to keep them together.”

Billy Ray filed divorce on October 26, and asked people to pray for him and Tish to help them through the difficult and emotional time.

The pair are expected to file for joint custody of their three youngest children: Miley, Noah, 10 and Braison, 16.

Billy Ray is also stepfather to Tish’s two children from a previous relationship, Trace and Brandi.

Gia Mantegna has been named Miss Golden Globe 2011

The 20-year-old actress – who is the daughter of former award nominee Joe Mantegna and his restaurateur wife Arlene – feels “honoured” to have been awarded the prestigious title by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

She said: “I have grown up watching the Golden Globes with my family and feel so fortunate to be part of such a magical evening, so early on in my career.”

Previous Miss Golden Globes include Melanie Griffith – daughter of Hitchcock’s leading lady Tippi Hedren - who gave out the awards in 1975.

Rumer Willis – whose parents are Bruce Willis and Demi Moore – was named Miss Golden Globe in 2008, but the subsequent ceremony was cancelled due to the Hollywood writer’s strike.

Kevin Costner’s daughter Lily was Miss Golden Globe in 2004 and in 1995 the title was given to a boy, Clark Gable’s son John.

Gia – who is dating ‘Hannah Montana’ actor Mitchel Musso – started her acting career at the age of 13 when she appeared in the film ‘Uncle Nero’ alongside her father.

She has since appeared on ‘Secret Life of the American Teenager,’ ‘Criminal Minds’ and NickTeen series ‘Gigantic’ alongside Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer.

The president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Philip Berk, commented: “We are thrilled to have Gia as this year’s Miss Golden Globe.

“She is just as talented as she is beautiful and will surely be a great addition to the show.”

The 68th Golden Globe Awards – which honour the best in film and television – will be presented on January 16 at the Beverly Hilton hotel in California.

Miley Cyrus’ parents are to divorce

Singer Billy Ray Cyrus and wife Tish Cyrus announced they have separated after 17 years of marriage and filed divorce papers this week citing “irreconcilable differences”.

In a statement, they said: “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”

Friends say it was inevitable the couple – who have three children, 17-year-old Miley, Braison, 16, and 10-year-old Noah – would split but insist nobody else is involved.

One pal said: “It was a long time coming. It is the best thing for both of them.”

Country singer Billy married Tish in December 1992 and as well as having three children together he adopted Tish’s two children, Brandi and Trace, from her previous marriage.

He also has a son, Christopher, from his relationship with Kristen Luckey.

The family initially lived on a 500-acre farm near Nashville, Tennessee, before moving to Los Angeles following the success of Miley’s TV show ‘Hannah Montana’, which Billy also appears in.

Angus T. Jones — $3,000 Playdate with Miley Cyrus

He usually makes $300,000 per episode to appear on TV … but “Two and Half Men” star Angus T. Jones took a big, fat pay cut to share some screen time with Miley Cyrus a few months ago.

Jones — who just turned 17-years-old — guest starred on “Hannah Montana” back in July … and because he was a minor when he signed his contract, the docs had to be filed with the L.A. County Superior Court.

According to the paperwork, obtained by TMZ, Jones raked in a cool $2,808 — plus he got his own dressing room — to play an “obnoxious new kid” named T.J. on the show … a one week working commitment.

It’s chump change compared to the ridiculous scrilla he makes on “Men” … but there are plenty of people who would gladly PAY tons money to get that close to Miley for a day.

Miley Cyrus Allegedly Hits, Runs … But Hit-and-Run?

Miley Cyrus banged up her mom’s Mercedes-Benz SUV, totaled another car and then left the scene … according to the alleged victim’s attorney.

The owner of the other car — a Los Angeles restaurant parking attendant — claims Hannah Montana herself smacked into his parked car. We spoke to his attorney, Mauro Fiore, who says Miley claimed the white Benz she was driving belonged to her BF … but we checked and it’s actually registered to her mom.

Fiore says Miley left her phone number with the parking attendant — whose ‘91 Camry was totaled according to Fiore — and then sped off. The attendant didn’t file a police report at the time — but his lawyer says he plans to do so today.

As for whether Miley’s actions constitute a hit-and-run … police tell us, hypothetically speaking, it doesn’t because she left contact information with the alleged victim.

Miley’s rep had no comment.

Taylor Momsen hates being compared to “Miley f***ing Cyrus”.

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star is now fronting her own band The Pretty Reckless and admits it makes her mad when people say she is the new Miley just because she acts and sings and is a teenager.

Taylor, 16, fumed: “I’m not looking to be Miley f***ing Cyrus. I don’t care about the fame. I do it because I love music. I like making records and if people like them, then we’ll go along for the ride.”

Although the blonde star wants to avoid comparisons with Miley, 17, she insists she doesn’t have a problem with her personally, just the Disney show ‘Hannah Montana’ that catapulted her to fame.

She added to this month’s UK issue of FHM magazine: “I’m not dissing Miley personally. However, I do think the Disney bubblegum s**t that the world is living right now is pathetic. I thought we passed that repression. I don’t know Miley, but musically we’re different. To compare us because of our age is silly.”

Taylor – who writes all her own songs and plays guitar – believes a lot of people will be shocked by her band’s album.

She said: “People will be surprised by the record. I mean, it’s a rock record. I get that there is this blonde thing from ‘Gossip Girl’ and they’re expecting pop s**t, but it’s a rock band and its heavy. Our record is a life record. It confronts everything head on. It’s death, love, drugs, sex, religion, politics.”

Dolly Parton is Miley Cyrus’ “honorary godmother”.

The country music legend has known the ‘Hannah Montana’ star – whose father is country singer Billy Ray Cyrus – since she was a baby and admits she feels protective of her.

She said: “She’s my honorary goddaughter. I mean, we never had a ceremony or nothing.

“I’ve known her since she was a baby. I hate it when people criticise her.”

The 64-year-old star praised the singer-and-actress’ performing talents but also admitted the teenager is good company out of the spotlight.

She added in an interview with Fox News: “She is a great singer, she has a great voice. She’s a great little entertainer and she can speak to you like she is 50 years old.”

Despite the criticism Miley has received for her risque outfits and raunchy dancing, Dolly insists the 17-year-old star is just a normal girl trying to grow up in her own way.

She said: “She’ll land in the right place. I really know she has everything it takes. She is just trying to find her way and she will.”

Miley has previously spoken of her admiration for Dolly.

She said: “She is the nicest person in the world. She’s so easy to talk to. She’s awesome. I love her.

Miley Cyrus may go to college in 50 years.

The 17-year-old star is preparing for the end of her Disney TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ but as she wants to continue working in movies and music, can’t see the point in finishing her education yet.

She said: “My sister went to college for two years and then decided she wants to be a musician and now she is a musician.

“I just already know what I want to do and if there is ever a time where I want to go back, I can.

“I learned that from my grandma. She went to college at 67 and graduated at 70 and was a teacher from then. She’s 77 now, so you can go whenever you want.”

Miley recently splashed out on a $3.4 million Los Angeles property that she will move into when she turns 18 in November and can’t wait to have her own space.

She added: “I’ve bought my house and I want to decorate it the way I want and I think I worked really hard to be able to have a place that is purely my environment and exactly the way I envision – kind of like a serene, tranquil place that can just be my space.”

Miley Cyrus is taking her friends abroad to celebrate her 18th birthday.

The ‘Hannah Montana’ star plans to whisk 10 of her closest pals away on an exotic beach holiday when she reaches the landmark age on November 23.

Discussing her plans for the occasion, she said: “I hope I can just have a frickin’ break. Because I haven’t had time, even a week to chill. So I’m probably just going to go to the beach or something. I’ll take about 10 of my friends with me and hang out with the people I never really get to see. A lot of my friends, they work, and I’m in the business too so I’ll make sure we carve out some time so we can relax.

“You’ve got to get out of California generally, you’ve got to go to a different country. I like to travel, so I don’t really vacation in the states. I’m there all the time, I live in California. So I don’t want California to be my vacation.”

Miley first shot to fame when she started work on the Disney TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ aged 11.

Since then she has also forged a pop career and appeared in several movies.

Despite her fame, the teenage starlet believes the best part of her job is getting to see the world.

She explained on Britain’s Radio Two: “I just get to travel so much. Not many people my age get to travel all around the world and there some people who never get to see as many places as I have at 50. I’ve got to experience so many different places and I always do try to carve out a little bit of time when I do travel. I don’t want to look back and say ‘I’ve been there’, when I’ve never actually been there.”

The 17-year-old actress – who portrays troubled youth Ronnie Miller in ‘The Last Song’ – admits she was “embarrassed” when her most touching on-screen moment was interrupted by her communications device ringing in the middle of filming.

She said: “The funniest scene was also the saddest. Ronnie visits her terminally-ill dad in hospital and is struggling to hold back the tears. It was absolutely silent on set and suddenly my mobile phone goes off playing ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’.

“I’m just so anxious about losing my phone I always have it with me. That was quite embarrassing, but also absolutely hilarious.”

Despite the unprofessional disruption, Miley – who is best known for her role in Disney TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ – claims she’s intent on pursuing a serious acting career.

Miley Cyrus fell for Liam Hemsworth after they had their first on-screen kiss.

The 17-year-old actress – who has been dating the Australian actor after meeting him on the set of ‘The Last Song’ – has revealed the embrace they shared for the cameras “triggered” something between them and convinced her they should be together in real life.

She said: “That kiss definitely triggered something. The Girls Aloud singer has been named as the personality most searched for by people playing on the internet on their telephone handsets, and her ‘Fight for This Love’ video has been crowned the most downloaded song and video clip.

Paul Jevons from Orange, said: “Mobile searches are a real barometer of fame and reflect the public’s fascination with celebrities when on the move.”

The Black Eyed Peas song ‘Meet Me Halfway’ was the second most sought after track, while Lady Gaga’s single ‘Bad Romance’ came in third.

The singer and actress – who is best known for her role in Disney TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ – believes it is normal to make mistakes and tries to learn from any wrong decisions she makes in her work.

She said: “Every career thing I do can’t be perfect, and sometimes my decisions are wrong. I always say the minute I stop making mistakes is the minute I stop learning, and I’ve definitely learned a lot.”

The 17-year-old actress recently appeared in drama movie ‘The Last Song’, where she met her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Miley is convinced she will need to book herself in for acting classes once she has watched the final version of the film.

She explained to the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I’ve not taken like acting lessons or anything, but it doesn’t mean I don’t need to because I’m sure I do. Once I watch this film in the theatre, I’m probably going to go book an acting coach.

The 17-year-old singer-and-actress admits she was instantly smitten with her ‘Last Song’ co-star when he displayed his impeccable manners on the set of the movie.

She said: “He opened the door for me. I was like, ‘I have been in Los Angeles for three years and I don’t think any guy has actually opened the door for me.’

According to MTV UK, the 17-year-old star said in an interview with Teen Vogue magazine, “The more I make music that doesn’t truly inspire me, the more I feel like I’m blending in with everyone else. So after this next album, I’m taking some time off.”

Miley’s third album, ‘The Time of Our Lives’ was released on August 28, 2009 under Hollywood Records as a Wal-Mart exclusive. The extended play received critical success, with reviewers claiming it was an intelligent transition. The Time of Our Lives found commercial success by reaching the second position of the Billboard  200 for two weeks and becoming Cyrus’s fourth top ten album.

At the end of last year Miley revealed that she want to concentrate on a rockier sound. She told to British TV show GMTV, “I want to do my last pop record, I’m working on a record right now. I kinda (sic) want this to be my last record for a little while and be able to take a break and just get all the types of music that I really love.”

The Poison singer – who has collaborated with the ‘Hannah Montana’ star on their new single ‘Nothing to Lose’ – is in awe of the 17-year-old singer-and-actress because she stands up for what she believes in.

He said: “Does she stir s**t up? No. What I think that she does is she doesn’t take any s**t. I love that about her. I’ve seen it. I’ve seen people come at her, come at me, and we’re both the same. I set them straight. A lot of times when you live in that Hollywood limelight, speaking your piece or doing your thing is organic and more controversial than people trying to be controversial. I think the trying stuff – I’m bored of it. You’re like, ‘Oh God, someone told them to go there and do that.’ ”

The 47-year-old rocker – who dated Pamela Anderson and appeared in a sex tape with the blonde beauty – has defended the outspoken teenager and doesn’t think Miley deliberately sets out to cause problems in her personal and work life.

Discussing whether or not Miley likes to create scandals, he added to America’s OK! magazine: “I think the exact opposite. I think she’s got a strong backbone. I don’t think she takes s**t from people. She’s unpredictable and that’s natural.”

Miley has been involved in a number of controversies since she found fame.

When she was just 15, the starlet posed topless for fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz in a shoot which appeared in Vanity Fair magazine.

Last year, Miley shocked fans again when she pole danced in a skimpy pair of shorts during her performance of ‘Party in the USA’ at the Teen Choice Awards.

Miley Cyrus’ mother had a crush on her boyfriend.

The 17-year-old actress fell for Australian actor Liam Hemsworth when they starred together in new movie ‘The Last Song’ and the ‘Hannah Montana’ star admits she initially didn’t want to date the 19-year-old hunk because he is “too pretty”.

She said: “I don’t know who had a bigger crush on him at the beginning, my mom or me. I was like, ‘No, maybe he’s just too pretty. I don’t want to be with someone who’s better looking than me. That’s like awkward.’ ”

Liam has also spoken about how the pair gradually became closer during shooting – on which Miley’s mother Tish was the executive producer – because they were “each other’s only friend”.

He said: “We spent a lot of time together. We’re shooting together every day and together on weekends and we were kind of each other’s only friends down there. We just got really close… We enjoyed being around each other.”

While the pair got to act out their feelings for one another on screen, Liam was always cautious if they had any kissing scenes because Miley’s family were often on set.

He told Entertainment Tonight: “Her mom was watching. Her grandma was also watching, which was really funny.

“She was on set everyday and she’d be right at the monitor with the headphones on… She should have been directing the film. She knew more about it than anyone. Intimacy’s always tough. I feel like it’s the hardest thing for me as an actor.”

Sandra Bullock won Worst Actress at the Razzies yesterday (06.03.10).

The actress was given the accolade for her performance in ‘All About Steve’ and stunned guests at the Los Angeles ceremony – which recognises the worst films of the year – by turning up to collect the trophy.

Arriving with a trailer filled with DVDs, Sandra – who along with her co-star Bradley Cooper won Worst Screen Couple – joked: “Something tells me you all didn’t watch the film because I wouldn’t be here if you really, really watched it and understood what I was trying to say.

“Everyone gets a copy and this is the deal I’m going to make.

“I will show up next year if you promise to watch the movie and really consider if it was truly the worst performance. If you’re willing to watch, I’ll come back next year and give back the Razzie.”

Sandra is hotly tipped to pick up Best Actress for her role in ‘The Blind Side’ at tonight’s (07.03.10) Academy Awards. If she wins, she will be the first actress to ever pick up the best and worst honours in the same evening.

The Jonas Brothers were named worst actors for their 3D concert movie, while Worst Picture went to ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’, with its director Michael Bay given the Worst Director prize.

Eddie Murphy and Paris Hilton were named Worst Actor and Actress of the Decade, while John Travolta’s 2000 film ‘Battlefield Earth’ was named Worst Picture of the Decade.

One of the movie’s screenwriters, JD Shapiro, turned up to accept the award.

He said: “I especially want to thank the dozens and dozens of people who went to see the movie.”

The Razzies are voted for by members of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, which is open to anyone.

Miley Cyrus is to star in a remake of French film ‘LOL: Laughing Out Loud’.

The 17-year-old actress has already been cast in the movie and is rumoured to be appearing alongside 47-year-old Demi Moore.

The original film – which starred former Bond girl Sophie Marceau -tells the story of a mother and daughter struggling to maintain their relationship following a marriage breakdown.

It is the latest in a string of movie roles Miley has landed which will move her into mainstream cinema following the success she enjoyed as the star of the ‘Hannah Montana’ franchise.

Last year, she filmed a cameo appearance in ‘Sex and the City 2’ and this year she will appear in drama ‘The Last Song’ alongside her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Miley recently indicated she wanted to step away from being a teen idol.

She said: “My job is to be a role model, and that’s what I want to do, but my job isn’t to be a parent.

“My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act, because I’m still figuring that out for myself. So to take that way from me is a bit selfish.

“Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not. That’s just life.”
