Katy Perry has revealed she is soccer widow – because  is so obsessed with the World Cup.

The couple got to spend a rare day off together yesterday (23.06.10) but huge soccer fan Russell was reluctant to go out because he wanted to watch England’s crucial match against Slovenia which they needed to win to progress in the tournament in South Africa.

She said in an interview with UK station Radio 1: “It’s funny because he’s always there for me and we’re always there for each other, but yesterday we had a day off – he had a day off as well because he’s been busy promoting his movie (‘Get Him to the Greek’) – and the game was on yesterday and everybody in England, everywhere, was quiet, no one is on the street. We were watching the game and I was like messing with him saying, ‘Darling I really want to go outside.’ And he was so caught, he was like, ‘But the game, the game…’ But I knew I wasn’t gonna pull him away from that game. So I just took a nap.”

Katy says Russell is so engrossed in the tournament he stays up late most nights on the internet reading about the latest developments with the teams.

She added: “Everything is about football right now. It’s like, when I was with him last night he was up late watching football. And he was online reading all about it and it’s like, ‘How much can you read?’ “

Russell Brand is seeking love advice from his friends.

The ‘Get Him to the Greek’ star admits his romance with Katy Perry is unfamiliar territory so he has asked close pals David Walliams – who recently married model Lara Stone – and rocker Noel Gallagher for tips on sustaining a lasting relationship.

He explained: “I spoke to David Walliams and he said, ‘Oh it’s difficult because you have to agree on everything’ but my advice from Noel Gallagher was to say yes to everything, not just weddings but in relationships too.

“I asked Noel how to get by in a relationship and he said, ‘Just say yes to everything they say’. It works, I’ve been using that system and it’s working well.

“Then Walliams yesterday added, ‘Don’t act like you don’t care though’. Instead, you have to be like this, ‘Oh that seems good to me’, so I’m just agreeing to things – while caring about them.”

Though the British star admits he would never want to move to Los Angeles for good because of his family and favourite soccer team, he has already sent his beloved pet cat Morrissey to live with his fiancee.

He added to UK TV show ‘GMTV’: “I don’t want to ever leave our country because I love it here, but in America they make more films. My mum is here and West Ham are here.

“Morrissey has moved to America now. He lives with Katy’s cat Kitty Purry and our new cat Krusty.

“Krusty is very buoyant and aggressive, but she’s really joining the tribes of Kitty Purry and Morrissey together because she’s overly-confident and initially Morrissey and Kitty Purry didn’t get on.”

Russell Brand claims Katy Perry has brought out his masculine side.

The British funnyman – who was previously famed for his womanising ways – thinks being with his fiancée has given him a new focus and he only ever wants to protect her from harm.

He said: “I’m really in love and happy. It’s a dramatic transformation of my former lifestyle. But I wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t making me happy. She’s a good mate Katy, a good laugh.

“Since being with Katy, I’ve got this masculine urge to protect. Whenever there’s an earthquake, I jump out of bed, feeling like I have to fight it; ‘’Ere, stay away from my missus.’ ”

The animal-loving couple recently adopted a kitten named Krusty together and the ‘Get Him to the Greek’ star believes caring for the cat is the “perfect training” for having a family.

He added: “That’s why we’ve got a kitten. It’s perfect training for having kids.

“It’s lovely this kitten but it’s got no concept of moderating its conduct. It just climbs all over my head.”

Katy Perry was banned from watching ‘The Smurfs’ when she was a child, as her mum thought the Smurfette character was “sl***y”.

The ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer – who is engaged to British comedian Russell Brand – revealed she is excited about playing Smurfette in the upcoming live action remake of the popular television cartoon the ‘Smurfs’ because she was banned from watching it when she was younger.

She explained: “I’m going to be Smurfette; I’m so excited! I’ve never seen an episode, because my parents wouldn’t let me.

“My mother thought that Smurfette was a little bit sl***y, being the only female in the village. And now I’ve shown her: I called her up and said, ‘Guess what, ma? I’m Smurfette.”

Katy admitted it wasn’t the first time her career choices have shocked her pastor parents Mary and Keith Hudson.

She added to MTV news: “It was just like one of those days, ‘Guess what, mom? I kissed a girl!’ ‘Guess what, mom? I‘m going to be naked in a music video!’ ”

However, those who were looking forward to seeing the singer’s acting skills in Russell’s latest movie ‘Get Him to the Greek’ may be a little disappointed, as the British comic claims her cameo was scrapped because her performance was “atrocious”.

He said: “Her acting was so atrocious that it ruined the film. It ruined it. It just made the film boring and rubbish.”

Katy Perry and Russell Brand don’t want their wedding to be a “drunk fest of people”.

The couple – who got engaged in December – are planning a “small” but lavish ceremony because they want the occasion to be memorable and all about their love for one another.

She told People magazine: “I think the wedding will be small. I always have a ton of people around me and I think the people that are going to share this moment with us are the people we want to integrate into each other’s lives.

“We don’t necessarily want it to be a drunk fest of people just, you know, one night and then forgetting about it. We want it to be about the love. So sometimes to be about the love, we have to take them out of their comfort zone.”

However, the 25-year-old pop beauty and her 34-year-old fiance – who was known for his womanising ways before he settled down with Katy – will throw “a big, fat reception for the people who can’t make it”.

Since Russell popped the question he has grown increasingly obsessed with the wedding plans and Katy recently revealed he can’t stop buying bridal magazines.

Although the curvy brunette isn’t as sentimental as her future spouse, she does want her wedding dress to have a special meaning and has been discussing ideas with fashion designer John Galliano.

She added: “We have been kind of talking to John Galliano because that was the first fashion show in Paris that we kind of came out as a couple. So if we did Galliano, it would make it full circle.”

The ‘Get Him to the Greek’ star is planning revenge on his fiancee after she dubbed him “Bridezilla” over his enthusiasm for their marriage plans and even posted a picture of him on twitter wearing a wedding dress.

He joked: “Katy, that little cow, keeps calling me a bridezilla. Travis Cocker wrote, ‘Just Say Yes,’ the single we’re releasing from the film, and for that, one of the costumes I wore was a wedding dress. I sent Katy a picture and she put it on the internet and goes, ‘Oh look at him he’s obsessed with this wedding.’

“I’m trying to think of a way to get revenge. Let me tell you there are photos of her on my phone that could go nuclear!”

However, the British funnyman is wary of revealing the sexy snaps because he is scared of the repercussions.

He added to MTV News: “A man has to be respectful. I’m so tempted but I feel I’m going to need my testicles for the future.”

It has previously been claimed Katy is planning to wear a daring midriff-baring wedding gown and though Russell doesn’t want to upstage his bride, he has promised his attire for the big day will be no less shocking.

He said: “I think it would be unfair to say this day is all about me.

“I’m going to wear a tuxedo and a top hat with no pants and I’m going to paint my penis with lipstick. This is her day. It’s not about those mental images.”

Russell Brand narrowly escaped serious injury on the set of his latest film.

The British funnyman was accidentally set alight while shooting a scene for ‘Get Him to the Greek’ – in which he reprises his ‘Forgetting Sarah Marhsall’ role as rocker Aldous Snow.

He explained: “I got set on fire once. There’s a bit in the movie where I do a concert, and there’s a wall of sparks raining down from the heavens. And it caught me on fire. I stood in the wrong place; I caught on fire for a little. That was a bad bit.”

Despite being known for his womanising ways, Russell – who is engaged to singer Katy Perry – hated having to film a sex scene for the movie because it was so “awkward”.

He explained to Tufts Daily website: “Sex scenes are actually sort of stressful. Not like actual sex – not as I know it.

“The threesome scene was really awkward and difficult. Because sex, when it’s done properly, is about creating a wonderful atmosphere of intimacy, escape and adventure. Sex scenes are about hesitant, angular, choreographed moves.

“And this is a comedy sex scene as well, so it goes on for ages, and you’re standing with no pants, hunched over someone. You’re aware of each other’s breath mingling but without the baseline of lust pounding rhythmically through the act. It’s awful.”

Russell Brand’s own embarrassing sexual encounters inspired his new movie.

The British comedian – who has previously battled heroin addiction – reprises his ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ role of troubled rocker Aldous Snow in forthcoming film ‘Get Him To The Greek’ and admits scriptwriters used many of his own experiences for incidents in the film.

He explained: “Because the character is, you know, a heroin addict, and I’m a recovering heroin addict… a really good friend of mine who used to make um, heroin for me, and he didn’t ever want to, which is not nice, to buy heroin, and there’s like scenes in this where I force someone – a reference from my own life.

“Once during a threesome I accidentally ejaculated onto a friend’s leg, and that’s being used in this. So yeah, there are direct references to my own life in this film. Flatteringly.”

Because so many of his own experiences feature in the movie, Russell – who is engaged to Katy Perry – says it has made him rethink plans for a big screen version of his autobiography ‘My Booky Wook’.

He told website JoBlo.com: “Nick Stoller’s sort of stolen all the best bits. If they were to make a movie of my life now, it would be a drab, Warholian, sort of single-shot of me, sobbing in the basin. Which I’m keen to make. So I don’t know if we’ll do that anymore.”

However, if the biopic goes ahead, Russell wants a woman to portray him – actress Natalie Portman.

He added: “Michael Winterbottom was interested in making it and I was of course flattered and thrilled at the idea of working with him, because he’s brilliant, but I think now I’ve got too old to play myself. Of course I’ve been playing myself for so long, someone else should have a go, and I think Natalie Portman is the man for the job.”

The British comedian and his US pop star girlfriend were reportedly “messing around” in a Los Angeles studio where they recorded a version of Edward Lear’s 1871 poem ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Russell was just messing around in the studio with Katy.

“He was pretending to sing into the microphone and started reciting the poem, ‘The Owl And The Pussycat’, with the lines, ‘Oh lovely Pussy! Oh Pussy my love, what a beautiful Pussy you are’.”

The poem is said to be a private joke between the pair, after Russell, 34, recited it to ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer Katy, 25, when they holidayed together in Thailand.

The source added: “They often use the nicknames Owl and Pussycat. Russell is ‘Owl’ because he’s wise and, well, it’s fairly obvious that Katy’s a sex kitten, isn’t it?

“He has an amazing delivery. Katy blushed at the line, ‘O let us be married, too long have we tarried’ then joined in, singing a refrain to Russell’s speech.

“That’s when it dawned on everyone. It was actually really good. With work, it could be a really interesting track, evocative of The Goons or Monty Python. They were very harmonious. Everyone was transfixed.”

Russell has previously sung in the film ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ in which he played rock star character Aldous Snow. A follow-up film in which he will reprise the role, ‘Get Him To The Greek’ – in which Katy makes a cameo appearance – is set for release in summer next year.
