Johnny Depp wants to “run away” from modern life

The ‘Tourist’ actor – who has children Lily-Rose, 11, and eight-year old Jack with long-term partner Vanessa Paradis – believes developments in technology and a shift in favoured forms of entertainment have lead to people losing their sense of self.

He explained: “Sometimes I’d like to run away screaming from our technology-obsessed world, the invasive media, the madness of reality TV.

“We’ve lost touch with the simple things of life. We’re losing our individuality.”

Johnny, 47, lives in the south of France with his family, but he and Vanessa, 38, own a Caribbean island where they can retreat for some privacy, which the actor says is crucial to keep him sane.

He told Red Bulletin magazine: “The island might sound extravagant but I need somewhere I can breathe easily or just sit around and chat without someone taking my picture.”

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor used to be famed for his wild partying, and he credits meeting Vanessa 12 years ago with helping him turn his life around.

He said: “Anything I’d done before was kind of an illusion.

“My daughter, the birth of my daughter, gave me life.

“Now, my greatest hope is that I’ll be fair to the people I love.”

Lindsay Lohan — From Detoxin’ to Boxin’

Lindsay Lohan is having her stuff hauled from the apartment that served as the backdrop for the drugs and alcohol that sent her into a tailspin.

TMZ got this pic of a moving truck transporting her belongings from the West Hollywood condo to Venice Beach, where she’s moving — at least temporarily — when she leaves the Betty Ford Center.

As we first reported … although Lindsay can leave Betty Ford today, she’s thinking about extending her stay ’til the weekend to get more treatment

Gary from ‘Teen Mom’ — ‘Amber Is Sluttish’

“Teen Mom” baby daddy Gary Shirley has a lot to learn about relationships — like rule #1 … don’t call your baby mama a slut while on the phone with her cousin.

In an audio recording from December obtained TMZ, Gary is heard on the phone with Krystal, Amber Portwood’s cousin. Gary explains to Krystal he kind of has a crush on her … pointing out, “You’ve got things that Amber don’t … ” like a job.

Then Gary drops a real gem and tells Krystal, “Amber is sluttish. You’ve been with six dudes, Amber’s been with f**king a million.”

The topper … dude actually tries to convince Krystal to come to his place by saying, “If you ever want to piss off Amber, let me know.”

Mission accomplished.

Gary from ‘Teen Mom’ — Mum’s the Word

Gary Shirley usually has no problem yapping on camera — but when we caught up with him today in New Jersey … he was stone cold silent.

Gary and his friends were on their way to spend NYE in NYC. We hit up Gary with all sorts of questions about baby mama Amber Portwood and his daughter Leah — but Gary repeatedly, though quite respectively, declined to comment.

The one time Gary did get fired up was when he yelled at one of his friends for making an attempted joke about Leah.

Perhaps being a protective father is Gary’s New Year’s resolution.

Daniel Radcliffe only kept Harry Potter’s glasses as a memento from series of films

The 21-year-old actor recently finished shooting the final scenes of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, the seventh and last of the films based on the eponymous boy wizard whom he has played for 10 years, and said his prop glasses were the only thing of sentimental value he wanted to keep.

He told fan website HPANA: “I’ve got two pairs of glasses. One from the seventh film, which were lensless.

“And also I have a pair with lenses from the first film which just seem like the tiniest little things now. So it’s very sweet and they both have quite a place in my heart.

“That was the only thing I wanted. I didn’t want the wand, I certainly didn’t want the broom, and so those were the only things I had my heart set on.”

‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ is split into two parts and Daniel has revealed the first instalment is different to the other films in the series because the well-known characters are taken out of their comfort zone.

He added: “You see these characters stripped of their comfortable, safe surroundings and suddenly just out in the wilderness together.”

The first part of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ will be released on November 19.

Magic Johnson was literally walkin’ on air while selling his 5% ownership stake in the Los Angeles Lakers -- TMZ has learned dude signed off on the multi-million dollar deal while aboard his private jet.

Sources close to the NBA legend tell us Magic was on a sky phone — en route to a YMCA event in Hartford, CT – while he closed the deal … worth approximately $35 million.

After Magic touched down, Johnson’s agent Darren Prince tells us the Hall-of-Famer donated two pairs of his Lakers courtside seats — for 2 regular season games — along with signed jerseys and raised $48,000 for the organization.

Not a bad day.

Madonna has been getting advice on her new film, ‘W.E’, from Britain’s royal family

The ‘Celebration’ singer has met with Britain’s Prince Edward and Princess Michael of Kent to ask them for information on King Edward VIII’s romance with US divorcee Wallis Simpson so the movie is entirely accurate.

Madonna has also met with the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, as well as Buckingham Palace staff and historians, to help her tell the story of how King Edward gave up the throne for Wallis in 1936, after a national outcry at their plans to marry.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “When the Palace was contacted by the film company for guidance on historical fact, they were a bit apprehensive at first given the subject.

“But when they heard Madonna was behind it they lent their support and arranged for key people to get involved.”

“The entire Royal Family were contacted and asked if they would like to meet Madonna and production staff.

“Some senior figures turned it down. But others jumped at the chance.”

The film will examine the relationship between Edward and Wallis, which was opposed by the British establishment and Prime Minister and led to Edward’s abdication after less than a year as monarch.

Madonna’s film – her second attempt at directing after 2008s ‘Filth and Wisdom’ – will also feature a modern romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.

Gemma Arterton goes to the toilet to hide from her fans

The British actress recently visited her hometown and received so much attention in the restaurant she was eating in she had take evasive action in the rest room.

Referring to her character in new movie ‘Tamara Drewe’, Gemma – who grew up in Gravesend, Kent, South East England – told BANG Showbiz: “I grew up in a town that’s not that far away from London at all, but not the countryside, and I went home two weeks ago for a visit. I went to a restaurant and people kind of recognise you more when you are from there. It is kind of weird. And they idolise you and put you on a pedestal. In London I think everyone is preoccupied with their own lives to even care. But it is weird going back to your hometown. Unlike Tamara I just go and hide in the toilet. Tamara goes and puts on some hot pants!”

In ‘Tamara Drewe’, the 24-year-old screen beauty stars as the journalist character of the same name who returns to her childhood home in the English countryside after her mother dies and surprises the locals with her new sexy look.
