Is JLO A Diva?
by Abbey on Apr.12, 2010, under Singer
Jennifer Lopez is not a diva.
The 40-year-old singer-and-actress claims she is not the difficult star many assume she is and admits she gets upset by the accusations.
She said: “I never like stories where people say I misbehave or act like a diva, because I don’t. Or that I make terrible demands, because those are always fabricated stories, and always have been.
“But they’ve become such a strong part of my image that I have no control over it. They’re not true, though, and that’s always bothered me.”
Despite her frustrations, the ‘Jenny from the Block’ hitmaker tries to ignore the more outlandish claims because she knows she is a good person.
She told the New York Daily News newspaper: “You have to keep a sense of humour. There’s something that people want about that diva idea, and I don’t understand it and it bothers me because it’s not the type of person I am, but what can I do?
“What’s always served me throughout my career is that when people get to know me, or talk to me, and they actually get a chance to see what I’m like, it combats the negative stuff – when they get a chance to see who I am as a person and what I’m about, and that I laugh and giggle and that I’m normal. The truth always comes out at the end of the day.”
Jennifer – who has two-year-old twins Max and Emme with husband Marc Anthony – also revealed her recent break from acting reinvigorated her career.
She said: “I feel like it’s a new beginning. It’s a bit like when I was a teenager about to embark on this career but it’s much more challenging, difficult and harder.
“I have so much more experience now but I feel just as fresh as I did back then and I’m excited about my life.”

Nicole Richie: Meets Britain’s Queen Elizabeth
by Alice on Dec.08, 2009, under Socialite

The socialite was given a list of strict rules to follow when she met the 83-year-old monarch at the Royal Variety Performance yesterday (07.12.09), and has jokingly claimed the sovereign is very demanding.
Nicole posted a photograph of her instructions on her twitter account, along with the phrase: “Rules for meeting me. That’s right, I’m a DIVA with a capital D!!(sic)”
The letter – titled “Etiquette Notes” – depicts the traditional rules people must follow when meeting members of the British family.
It reads: “Please can all artists who are taking part in The Royal Line Up to meet Her Majesty take note of the following:
“One first addresses the Queen as ‘Your Majesty’. Please wait before offering your hand. It is not mandatory to curtsey or bow. One does not speak until spoken to. After that, one can address Her Majesty as ‘Ma’am’ as in jam not ‘Mar’am’ as in smarm.
“You first address the Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Philip) as ‘Your Royal Highness’. After that it is ‘Sir’. “
Underneath the picture, the 28-year-old TV star wrote the note: “At royal variety show. Rules for meeting her majesty. God save the queen!”
The Royal Variety Performance is an annual variety show held in the UK, which is attended by members of the British royal family.
It will be aired on British TV channel ITV1 on December 16.

Mariah Carey To Recieve Breakthrough Performance Award At The 21st Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival
by Alice on Nov.24, 2009, under Actress, Artist, Award, Music, Singer

The singer-and-actress will receive the coveted honour at the Californian event in January in recognition for her portrayal of a dowdy social worker in ‘Precious’.
Festival chairman Harold Matzner said: “We’re delighted to be able to present the Breakthrough Performance Award to the extraordinary, very beautiful and versatile Mariah Carey, who, in a critically acclaimed role, completely transformed herself from a glamorous music icon to a forthright social worker for the role of Ms. Weiss in Precious.”
Previous winners of the prize include Jennifer Hudson, Marion Cotillard and Freida Pinto, who all went on to win an Oscar for their performances.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed Mariah insisted on bringing her own toilet paper to a TV appearance.
The ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ singer amazed presenters of UK TV show ‘GMTV’ with her diva-like antics, which also included being lowered onto a sofa by two people, with more members of her entourage being placed in the studio to check camera angles.
‘GMTV’ host Kate Garraway revealed in her column in New! Magazine: “I’ve heard a lot of rumours about Mariah being a diva over the years and it turns out it’s all true!
“While Mariah was very nice, the amount of people she had in her entourage was hilarious. They outnumbered the entire ‘GMTV’ crew! She had two people to lower her on to the sofa, in case her dress got crushed, one person to walk in front of her backwards at all times in case she fell over and several people behind the camera making sure she was going to be filmed from the right angle.
“Have you ever heard anything like it? Oh, and she brought her own toilet roll as well.”

Leona Lewis: “The term ‘diva’ has such a negative connotation”
by Alice on Nov.20, 2009, under Artist, Music, Singer

The British singer, who has a reputation for being one of the nicest people in pop, says she only has the good characteristics of a diva – which includes having a big voice.
She said: “The term ‘diva’ has such a negative connotation, but I see myself as a kind of good diva. I’m a next-door diva.”
To further prove her “good diva” credentials, Leona insists she doesn’t make extravagant demands or make expensive purchases like many of her pop star contemporaries.
‘Happy’ singer Leona – who spent several months recording her new album ‘Echo’ in Los Angeles – added in an interview with Petra magazine: “The biggest things I’ve bought are a house and my two cars. One of the cars is a Mini Cooper. But in Los Angeles I always drive a Hybrid Toyota Prius which is very environmentally friendly.”
One star famed for her diva-like demands is Mariah Carey who recently revealed her pet dogs Cha Cha and JJ had their own entourage when she shot a recent commercial.
She previously said: “I had my team with me but the pups had a mini entourage of their own, of course! And why wouldn’t they? It was a big shoot and even my entourage had an entourage – my stylist had an assistant, my security had extra security.
“The shoot was based on the fact that some people think I’m a demanding diva. I have no idea why people have that impression!”
