Demi Lovato admits her recovery is a “daily battle”

The ‘Skyscraper’ singer – who entered rehab last November for three months to receive treatment for an eating disorder and self-harming – is thankful for the support she has received from her loved ones and tries to surround herself with people who can help her stay on the right path.

She said: “I surround myself with people that are beneficial in my recovery and my recovery is still a daily battle and I definitely hang out with people that support me in making the right decisions.

“I’m a happier and healthier person today because of the choices I’ve made.

“Having the support of other artists and musicians and actors is really incredible and I’m thankful for that. I’m thankful to have that kind of support from people I look up to.”

Among those who have supported Demi is newly-married Kim Kardashian, who the 18-year-old star describes as a “big sister”.

She told E! News: “She’s been a friend of mine for a little bit and she’s like a big sister to me. So, when she got to announce me performing at the Do Something Awards it was really cool, and we actually got glam together.”

Demi Lovato has reportedly been dating Ryan Phillippe

The 18-year-old singer and actress is said to have been seeing ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ actor in the last few months, but things cooled since he became a father with his ex-girlfriend, Alexis Knapp, two weeks ago.

A source told the E! news service: “It was really hot and heavy for a while,” but added Demi wasn’t aware Ryan, 36, was to become a father for the third time “until it basically happened. It kind of threw her for a loop.”

Ryan – who also has two children, Ava Elizabeth, 11, and Deacon Reese, seven, with ex-wife Reece Witherspoon – was with Alexis when she gave birth to a daughter, who she has named Kai.

A spokesperson for the 21-year-old actress said, however: “She has never asked Ryan for any help, nor does she expect it.” Ryan, who dated Alexis in 2010, has been supporting her in the later stages of her pregnancy, although he is said to be waiting for the results of a paternity test to prove if he is the father.

A source said: “He is a good father, and whether this is his baby or not, he wants to do the right thing and be supportive.” Ryan also had an on/off relationship with actress Amanda Seyfried earlier this year.

Demi Lovato was bullied for being fat

The 18-year-old singer – who was treated for an eating disorder at an unnamed Chicago-based facility between last November and January, and has been diagnosed as bipolar – has revealed she was cruelly teased by other children when she was at school, and she insists the traumatic experience played a part in her dramatic weight loss.

Speaking on TV show ‘Good Morning America’, Demi said: “I literally didn’t know why they were being so mean. I was bullied for being fat.”

She added that she had virtually “stopped eating” at the age of 12 – consuming only two meals a week and dropped 30lbs, to weigh 95lbs.

A life coach was brought in to help the star, who said: “I thought it was enough, so everyone else thought it was enough.

“In reality I was only eating a meal a day. When I was about 15, I was only eating two meals a week, but I wasn’t losing any more weight because my body adjusted to that. So I tried new things, laxatives, fasts – nothing was working.”

Demi also turned to bulimia, adding: “At my worst, I was doing it five times a day. I threw up so hard and so much, it was just blood in the toilet.”

The star quit her popular TV show ‘Sonny with a Chance’ earlier this month because she was nervous stepping in front of the cameras again, but she is adamant her Disney bosses never asked her to lose weight.

Demi also revealed her eating disorder led her to self-harm as “a way of relieving pressure” when she was “stressed and had anxiety”.

She is now taking her recovery “day by day” and concentrating on her musical career, saying: “It made sense to me to leave the show and focus on my music. In the studio you don’t see my body, and I feel all of my confidence is in my voice.

“I don’t know if I could handle being in front of the camera with my body right now.”

Demi Lovato has quit her Disney show ‘Sonny with a Chance’

The 18-year-old singer-and-actress – who was released from rehab in January after three months of treatment for an eating disorder – has decided to leave the comedy show because she was nervous about going back in front of the camera.

She told People magazine: “It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music.

“It’s kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on.

“I don’t think going back to ‘Sonny’ would be healthy for my recovery. Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.”

Demi – who has also confessed to having a nervous breakdown prior to her entry into rehab – has the full backing of the Disney Channel, with a spokesperson saying they “respected” her decision to leave.

A representative said: “We respect Demi’s decision to focus full-time on her music and not immediately return to her acting career. She is a talented young woman and our hearts are with her as she continues to take action to improve her health and bounce back from adversity.”

Demi Lovato had a nervous breakdown before entering rehab

She said: “I basically had a nervous breakdown. I was really bad off. My parents and manager pulled me aside and said, ‘You need to get some help.’ It was an intervention. I wanted freedom from the inner demons. I wanted to start my life over.”

Now the ‘Sonny With A Chance’ star is looking forward to returning to work and says she has made vast changes to how she lives her life.

She explained in an interview with Seventeen magazine: “I allow myself a lot of freedom and I’m very peaceful now. I have come to realise that just making yourself happy is most important. Never be ashamed of what you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion that you want, and to do what makes you happy. That’s my life motto.”

Demi Lovato is set to mark her comeback with a performance on the US version of ‘The X Factor’

The 18-year-old star – who left rehab in January after seeking treatment for “emotional and physical issues” in November – is in talks with producers of the highly-anticipated TV talent show to perform on one of the live shows after a judging role was ruled out.

A source said: “She has, in fact, had meetings concerning the matter, but chances are very slim that she would be joining the cast as a judge. But they have spoken about having Demi come on to perform during the season, and have discussed her having her comeback performance.”

The 18-year-old singer-and-actress left an unnamed clinic in Illinois in January after being treated for “emotional and physical issues”, and she has now released a video expressing her gratitude to everyone who supported her during the “darkest time of her life”.

In the video, posted on website cambio.com, she said: “I wanted to let you know that I am back and home. And I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the support you guys have given me along the way.

“I read all of the tweets and the fan mail and your support is what got me through this. So I couldn’t be more thankful for everything that you guys sent me.

“The journey that I’ve been on has been very, very difficult over the past few months. I was dealing with issues that I know not just girls my age, but of all ages are dealing with. I hope one day to raise awareness of everything so that I can help people in the same way you guys helped me through this rough time.

“I can’t tell you how much light you guys brought into my life at probably the darkest time of my life. Without you guys I wouldn’t be here today.”

Demi – who stars in the TV series ‘Sonny with a Chance’ – also revealed she is returning to work following her treatment and is looking forward about getting the chance to thank her fans in person.

Demi Lovato has reached a settlement with the dancer she has been accused of punching

Lawyers acting for the troubled star – who is currently in rehab receiving treatment for “emotional and physical issues” – held a series of discussions with Alex Welch’s attorneys and have now reached a satisfactory conclusion.

Alex’s lawyer Donald Karpel said: “The parties are satisfied and the dispute has been resolved amicably and completely.”

He added the issue has “been resolved amicably and completely,” although he refused to reveal the amount of the settlement.

Alex, 21, had been planning to give an interview about the incident, which left her with a black eye, but was asked by Demi’s representatives to hold off until the case was negotiated.

Recalling the alleged attack, Alex recently revealed it happened after Demi had been reprimanded about her behaviour while on The Jonas Brothers tour and, believing one of the dancers had complained about her, the teenage singer-and-actress took them into a room and threatened them, saying: “If I find out who told on me …”

However, Alex insisted she had no idea what the 18-year-old star was referring to and was stunned when the ‘Sonny With a Chance’ star approached her on a plane the following day and punched her.

Demi left the tour immediately after the incident and checked into a treatment facility.

Demi Lovato is close to reaching a settlement with the dancer she has been accused of punching.

Lawyers acting for the troubled star – who is currently in rehab receiving treatment for “emotional and physical issues” – have entered negotiations with Alex Welch’s attorneys, with both parties hopeful to reach an amicable conclusion to the dispute.

Alex’s lawyer Donald Karpel said: “Alex is seeking a settlement, an apology from Demi and a donation made to a charity of her choice.”

Donald is currently working with the firm representing Demi and says he has “faith” an amicable settlement will be reached soon.

A spokesperson for the ‘Sunny With A Chance’ star told RadarOnline.com: “Demi’s attorneys have had an initial discussion with Mr. Karpel. They are exploring the possibility of an amicable resolution of this matter. We do not plan on making further public comments during this process.”

Demi Lovato wants to leave rehab next week.

The 18-year-old star – who is currently being treated for “emotional and physical issues” in an unnamed facility – reportedly wants to be with her family for Thanksgiving (25.11.10) and has asked to go home for the holiday.

A source told E! News: “She is getting better. She doesn’t want to be in the centre for Thanksgiving and wants to go home.”

Though Demi – who entered rehab voluntarily at the beginning of November – wants to leave the facility before the end of this month, she doesn’t plan to return to work immediately.

Disney are hoping she recommences filming her TV show ‘Sonny With a Chance’ early next year, but will not pressure her to come back until she is ready, and have also shelved plans for her to record an album until she is completely well.

The source added: “They’re still committed to her. No one is abandoning her. But she is holding off on her music for a bit.

“There are a lot of people who never heard of Demi Lovato before this and if she can get through this, she will come back stronger and bigger than ever.”

Demi Lovato has been accused of being a heavy drinker and cocaine user.

The 18-year-old Disney singer and actress was recently admitted to rehab with “emotional and psychological issues”, and a source claims her wild partying ways may have contributed to her present state.

US college student Brian Payne said he witnessed Demi snorting cocaine at a party, after they had both been to see band Neon Indian in her hometown, Dallas, just after Christmas last year.

He told Lifeandstylemag.com: “She was doing line after line like a pro – and she was 17 at the time.

“I just remember her doing it as if she had been doing it for a long time. It didn’t seem like something new to her.”

Another source close to the ‘La La Land’ singer said she has dealt badly with her recent split from pop singer Joe Jonas – whom she was performing on tour alongside at the time she was admitted to rehab.

The source said: “Demi’s been on a tear lately. She’ll chug booze straight from the bottle (sic).”

Demi’s family have yet to respond to allegations she is a heavy drinker or cocaine user, but her estranged father, Patrick Lovato, previously said he blames the pressures of fame were “one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney.”

Uncle: Demi Works Really Hard

As singer Demi Lovato seeks treatment for “emotional and physical issues,” her uncle Francisco Lovato exclusively tells TooFab, he saw signs of exhaustion in his niece when he met up with her at a concert last summer.

Of Demi’s admission to a treatment facility, Francisco, who used to promote concerts, tells TooFab, “I personally think it has a lot to do with pushing these kids.”

And Francisco recounted to TooFab meeting up with her at one of her gigs. “I saw Demi in August, I went to one of her concerts with The Jonas Brothers outside of Sacramento, and she totally rocked it out, and did a great show, there was great energy,” he tells TooFab. “She was in good spirits it seemed, but I made a small comment, and the one thing I said to her was ‘Demi, you’re working hard, and I know people love your talent, and you’re busting it out,’ but then she turned around and looked at me with a major look of seriousness, and she said to me, ‘Look, I work really hard.’ She had this look of exhaustion. She really gave me the look of like, ‘I work really hard.”

And Francisco adds, “I spoke to [Demi's mom] Diana a year ago and at the time, she said, ‘I’m trying to get her two days off in a row, because she’s having to work day in and day out.”

Concludes Francisco, “I’d like her to chill out for a little.”

The Girl Demi Lovato Punched

Demi Lovato’s decision to seek treatment came after she punched a dancer who appeared on “America’s Best Dance Crew” … TMZ has learned.

Sources tell TMZ … Alex Welch was on the receiving end of Demi’s blow.  Welch is a backup dancer on the Jonas Brothers Live in Concert Tour.  She was also a member of Beat Freaks, which got the runner-up title on season 3 of “America’s Best Dance Crew.”

We’re told Welch — who had a pretty nasty shiner from the incident — has been talking to lawyers and is considering legal action.

Sources close to Demi say she feels “awful” about her behavior and took personal responsibility for it by leaving the tour and seeking help.

Demi Lovato’s family are outraged by comments made by her estranged father about her going into rehab.

The ‘Camp Rock’ actress’ family insist Patrick Lovato “knows nothing” about his daughter, and he has been warned by her representatives to stop talking.

Patrick – who split from Demi’s mother Dianna in 1994 – claimed the pressures of being a child star “was one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney“, after she checked into rehab earlier this week for “emotional and physical issues”.

Now Demi’s attorney Jamie Young has told the New York Post newspaper: “No one speaks for Demi except for her designated representatives.

“Unfortunately, several people have taken it upon themselves to speak out – both on and off the record – about a situation they know nothing about.”

Demi, 18, talked about her father last year, revealing they hadn’t spoken to him for two years.

She added: “Two years ago. When somebody lets you down after you’ve been the only one there for them. I had to cut off all connection. It was hurting me too much.”

Patrick has since claimed he was misquoted in the article about his daughter saying he would neither blame Disney or Dianna for Demi’s problems.

Disney has wished their young star well, with a statement reading: “We support Demi’s decision to put her health first and we send her our best wishes.”

Demi Lovato Quits Tour, Enters Treatment Center

Disney star Demi Lovato has bailed on an international concert tour with the Jonas Brothers – and has checked into a treatment center to seek help for “emotional and physical issues” … TMZ has confirmed through the singer’s rep.

In a statement to TMZ, the 18-year-old singer’s rep says, “Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time.”

We’re told Demi is not seeking treatment for drug use.

The statement continues, “Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.”

The rep concludes, “[Demi] regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future.”

Sources close to Lovato tell us the singer was in a physical altercation with a female member of her tour recently … which was a “catalyst” in her decision to seek professional help.

Joe Jonas’ friends fear Ashley Greene will break his heart

The 21-year-old singer – who has been dating the ‘Twilight’ actress since the summer – has developed strong feelings for the screen beauty, and though pals insist the feeling is mutual, they still believe Joe will be hit harder if they eventually go their separate ways,

One pal said: “They both are still in the trying-to-impress-each-other phase. If I were to say who wears the pants, Ashley certainly does but Joe doesn’t realise how much power he actually has in the relationship. She likes him just as much as he likes her, but I think he would submit more easily to her and take it harder if they broke up.”

Despite spending the summer together, the couple face separation in the coming months, with Joe away on tour and Ashley, 24, scheduled to start filming the fourth instalment of the vampire franchise, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ in November.

However, the pair have already begun comparing schedules in a bid to work out the maximum time they can spend together.

Joe Jonas — Ready to Fight Over Demi Lovato

Joe Jonas is prepared to go to war over a blog posting that insists he and his underage ex-girlfriend Demi Lovato are currently “friends with benefits” … in fact, Joe’s lawyers are already on the attack.

TMZ has learned … Joe’s attorney just fired off a letter to a Canadian entertainment blogger named Zack Taylor … blasting the guy for a story he posted which implied that 20-year-old Joe and 17-year-old Demi “are involved in an illicit relationship.”

In the letter, obtained by TMZ, Jonas’ attorney claims the story is “completely false, offensive and defamatory” — and accuses Taylor of a “malicious attempt to attack and devalue [Joe's] good name and reputation.”

Team Jonas is demanding that Taylor pull the post ASAP … or else a lawsuit may follow.

Zack Taylor had no comment on this story.

The 20-year-old singer – who has previously romanced teen stars Taylor Swift, Camilla Belle and Demi Lovato – and the ‘Twilight’ actress were spotted yesterday morning (09.08.10) leaving her Los Angeles apartment to shop at the nearby Studio City mall and enjoy a coffee together.

A source said: “Joe and Ashley looked really relaxed in each other’s company – though they made sure there was no physical contact and walked at a short distance from one another.”

Despite recently being spotted enjoying an intimate dinner at The Ivy restaurant in London and attending a Kings of Leon concert together, friends of Joe and 23-year-old Ashley insist there is nothing romantic going on between them.

A source told internet blogger Zack Taylor: “They are just friends and enjoy spending time together when they are in the same area.

“Ashley is actually helping Joe write some music for his upcoming solo album.”

As well as meeting up in London – when Ashley was promoting ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ and Joe was supporting brother Nick, who was making his West End debut in ‘Les Miserables’ – the duo were also spotted having dinner together at The Alcove in California at the end of last month, with the singer seen getting the actress’ bag from his car.

Joe Jonas sent a hot dog to a girl he wanted to ask out.

The Jonas Brothers singer – who allegedly dumped country music singer Taylor Swift during a 27-second phone call – sent the snack and a cola to a blonde beauty he spotted in the crowd at the recent LA Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns basketball game in the hope of attracting her attention.

A source revealed: “The girl was totally surprised to find out her snack was courtesy of Joe Jonas.”

The lady in question then wrote her name and phone number on a napkin and then asked the waiter to give it to the 20-year-old ‘It’s About Time’ hitmaker.

The insider joked to National Enquirer magazine: “I hope he got tipped well for playing matchmaker!”

Joe has been single since splitting from actress Demi Lovato last month.

Despite instigating the split, Joe has pledged to stay close to the Disney star.

He said: “Demi and I knew going into our romantic relationship that it may not be an easy one. I realise over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now.

“It was my choice to break-up, but I love her as a friend. She’s been there for me when I needed her. I will continue to be her friend and be there for her.”

Demi Lovato recently highlighted her hair.

Lovato, who began her acting career at the age of seven on the children’s television series Barney & Friends as Angela, may be changing her hairstyle.

Demi recently tweeted, “Fixed some highlights + added more  I’ll add pics soon! I have blonde in my hair!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!”

Earlier Lovato confirmed via her Twitter page that she and Jonas were no longer together.

In April the Jonas Brothers announced their World Tour 2010 featuring Lovato as a special guest.

Lovato is best known for her roles as Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock and its upcoming sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, and as Sonny Munroe in Sonny With a Chance.
