Jeff Bridges On Winning Oscars

by Alice on Feb.13, 2011, under Actor

Jeff Bridges On Winning OscarsJeff Bridges won’t feel guilty if he beats Colin Firth to the Best Actor prize at this year’s Oscars

The 61-year-old star triumphed over Colin – who was nominated for his performance in ‘A Single Man‘ – at last year’s Academy Awards for his role in ‘Crazy Heart’ and he admits he is quite comfortable with the prospect of defeating ‘The King’s Speech’ star again.

Jeff – who is nominated this year for his turn in ‘True Grit‘ – said: “I don’t think I’d feel too guilty, no. Just let it fall where it may.”

However, the seasoned actor has confessed he does feel guilty for not watching all of his fellow nominees’ films.

Jeff – who has watched ‘The King’s Speech’ – said: “I feel bad as I haven’t watched as many of the films out this year as I should have. But the ones I’ve seen are terrific. ‘The King’s Speech’ is wonderful. And I like ‘Winter’s Bone‘.”

Jeff also said he doesn’t mind the endless promotion that comes with being in a film that’s nominated for an award and has found that his win last year has helped his career.

He said: “It’s great to be acknowledged by the guys for what you do. There’s an element of my job that’s like being a barker at a carousel. But after you put all that energy into a film, it’s great if people come see it.

“Winning the Oscar has helped me in other ways. I’m currently making an album with T Bone Burnett. That comes directly from the success of ‘Crazy Heart‘.”

No Sexual Involvement – Says Jeff Bridges

by Alice on Mar.10, 2010, under Actor

Jeff Bridges would never get sexually involved with an actress.

The 60-year-old actor, who has been married to his wife Susan for 33 years, claims sex can ruin a person and he would never be tempted to cheat on his partner.

He said: “You don’t want to get sexually involved with the other actor. It spells trouble. My family was and is too precious to me. I know sex can lose you everything.”

Despite his lengthy union with Susan, Jeff – who won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in ‘Crazy Heart’ on Sunday (07.03.10) – insists their passion hasn’t waned over time and their relationship keeps getting better.

He said: “I’m so in love with her. The relationship just keeps getting better and more intimate and sexier and all that stuff. My wife supports me and it makes me love her even more.”

However he admits he wasn’t always such a good guy, and did enjoy a wild time when he was younger.

He said in an interview with The Sun newspaper: “It was harder earlier on. Getting married was frightening.

“No matter how much womanising you do as a single guy, you always think there’s more to be done.”

Jeff Bridges Credited His “gorgeous wife” For His Oscar Win

by cyan on Mar.08, 2010, under Actor, Oscars, Wife

The ‘Crazy Heart’ star finally received recognition at the Academy Awards last night (07.03.10) when he was awarded the Best Actor gong – 29 years after his first nomination – and claimed he wouldn’t be there without the love and support of his spouse Susan Geston.

He said: “I especially want to thank my gorgeous wife, Sue, we’ve been married 33 years. We have a beautiful family. Three girls, Isabelle, Jessie and Hayley. Thank you, guys. I wouldn’t be up here without you. Thank you so much.”

Jeff – whose wife accompanied him to the Governors Ball in the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel after the awards ceremony – has previously admitted that Susan turned him down when he first asked her out.

He recalled recently: “I finally worked up the courage to ask her out and she said, ‘No. Maybe I’ll see you around.’ And as she predicted, we did bump into each other in a bar and fell madly in love.”

The actor won the Oscar for his portrayal of drunk country singer Bad Blake in ‘Crazy Heart’, who is inspired to turn his life around by a young journalist, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Jeff Bridges Didn’t Want To Please His Dad By Becoming An Actor

by Alice on Feb.20, 2010, under Actor

Jeff Bridges

The ‘Crazy Heart’ star – who has been nominated for Best Actor at the forthcoming Academy Awards – admits he was reluctant to follow his parents Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges into Hollywood.

He said: “My dad loved showbusiness. Travelling around, working with other people and he encouraged me to go into it.

“But, typical kid, you don’t want to do what your parents want you to do. You don’t want to be liked because of who your father is.”

However, the 60-year-old star admitted that once he made the decision to become an actor, having a famous family made it easier for him to get started.

He added: “The hardest thing about acting is getting a foot in the door and that was all handled by my dad. The fact is, I’m a product of nepotism. And that took some getting used to.

“Life will supply you with gutters. Having a famous father. Feeling that stench of nepotism. That’s a gutter right there.”

I remember Jake looked at me and said, ‘Your phone is going to be like that all day.’ It was true.”

“I thought about going to sleep after that first 5 o’clock rush of calls, and he said, ‘Don’t go to sleep. Who knows when this will happen again. Stay up. Have some coffee.’ “

Jake has also advised his elder sibling to enjoy every moment of her nomination but not to get carried away by her success.

She revealed: “He said, ‘It’s a lot of fun, and enjoy it in that spirit. If you make it too much more than that, you’ll probably go astray.’ “

Maggie Gyllenhaal Felt “important” When She Was “swarmed” By “tons” Of Paparazzi

by Alice on Dec.04, 2009, under Actress

Maggie Gyllenhaal

The ‘Dark Knight’ star and husband Peter Sarsgaard are usually able to walk around New York unnoticed so were amazed when “tons” of paparazzi came into a cafe where they were enjoying coffee, only to then be ignored.

She told website E! Online: “There were a ton of paparazzi in the cafe with their huge cameras and laptops. I was like, ‘Peter, oh my God, they are so into us. They’re swarming us. We are so important.’

“It turns out Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were living on that street. It was the winter, so the photographers would go into the cafe to download their pictures.”

Maggie is currently promoting ‘Crazy Heart’, the first movie she worked on after giving birth to daughter Ramona three years ago, and admits she finds it difficult to balance parenthood with her career.

She said: “Every night you can’t put your kid to sleep, that’s pretty intense. In my family, that’s a big kind of get-together time – dinner, bath and stories and then bed.”

However, the actress insists it is very important for her to work and be a mother.

She explained: “When my daughter was about 15 months, I started to feel like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve just been completely focused on being a mother for a long time. I just got overwhelmed, this feeling of, ‘I’m an actress, too.’

“You can’t be an empty shell and be a good mother, too.”
