Royal Marine Andy Baker – known as ‘Bagsy’ to his friends – met the Girls Aloud beauty when she travelled to Afghanistan on a morale boosting trip for troops earlier this month and after swapping phone numbers, Andy is now counting down the days until he leaves the country on October 1.

His brother-in-law Graham Peck is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Andy would love to take Cheryl out for dinner when he’s back in the UK.

“He thought she was lovely, really gorgeous – I think all the guys did.

“Andy contacted me through Facebook, raving about Cheryl and even made a photo of them his profile picture. They met up a couple of times during her trip and hit it off.”

Cheryl, 28, and 25-year-old Andy first met at an awards bash and met up again later during an informal barracks dinner but the soldier panicked when he heard Cheryl was planning to call him because he has no mobile phone connection until he leaves the country.

Graham added: “Andy wants her to know that he’ll be in touch the moment he lands and wants her to wait for him.”

After her trip to Helmand province Cheryl revealed she was so taken with the military hunk she is planning to call him and “see what happens”.

She said: “Not only are the soldiers incredibly brave, a few of them were also incredibly cute.

“I actually came back with a phone number from one lad … although I think his talking to me was a dare. He started chatting to me after I’d been shot at during a training exercise.

“Obviously it wasn’t real ammunition but it was still terrifying. Anyway I think I am going to call him this week and we’ll see what happens. I’m sure he’s not expecting me to ring but that’s why it’ll be funny and that’s why I’m going to do it.”

The Girls Aloud singer – who has not been seen in public following revelations her ex-husband Ashley Cole bedded a string of women days before they were thought to have reconciled – is set to reside with her manager when she is in America because she is “sick” of staying in Los Angeles hotel rooms.

A source close to the ‘Parachute’ hitmaker told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl is sick to death of staying in hotels when she’s in LA.

“She’s seen some great houses. But she is worried about being lonely when her mum and brother Garry aren’t around. Will suggested she move in with him while she gets settled and has even said she is welcome for all of her stay.”

Talking about the track – which was originally offered to Cher Lloyd, who Cheryl mentored on last year’s series of the UK ‘X Factor – said: “Cheryl loved the song from the start and didn’t think twice about recording a version after she was sure it would not be appearing on Cher’s album.

The ‘X Factor’ star is said to have impressed Los Angeles film bosses during her four-day appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France so much they have approached her about appearing on the big screen.

A source said: “It has been amazing to see the reception Cheryl has had after going to Cannes.

The 27-year-old singer and her rumoured boyfriend are set to visit his mother Marianne Nelson in Nevada before they take in some tourist attractions in the US resort in August, which is known for its casinos and spectacular stage shows.

Cheryl Cole wants an invite to the royal wedding

The pop star is very excited about the upcoming nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29 and she admits she would love to be inside Westminster Abbey, in London, when they say their vows.

She said: “I’ve met William a couple of times but never Kate. I can’t wait for the royal wedding – hopefully I’ll be watching from an aisle!”

The 27-year-old singer recently brushed shoulders with royalty.

She met William’s father Prince Charles at his charity the Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards in London earlier this month.

And she now plans to use her connection to the heir to the British throne to get her hands on an invite.

She joked to the UK edition of HELLO! magazine: “I’m going to ask Prince Charles where my invite to the royal wedding is. I think it got lost in the post, there must be a delay with the Royal Mail.”

The Girls Aloud star discussed plans with Charles for her charity The Cheryl Cole Foundation to support The Prince’s Trust’s work with disadvantaged young people in North East England, where Cheryl’s hometown Newcastle is located.

And the brunette beauty admits she was impressed by the royal’s charming demeanour.

She said: “It was amazing. He’s so charismatic, funny and easy to talk to – he’s lovely. I had tea and a biscuit and we chatted about normal stuff, his work with The Prince’s Trust, Prince Harry, my charity, lots of things.”

Cheryl Cole always takes her slippers on nights out

The ‘Parachute’ hitmaker is happy to wear uncomfortable high-heeled shoes because she secretly keeps her comfiest footwear to change into as soon as she leaves an event.

She told InStyle magazine: “I adore Charlotte Olympia shoes. The heel is so high, but you have to suffer for your art. They’re sitting down shoes.

“I love how lots of girls swap flats for heels when they get to work.

“I’ve just discovered a lot of them carry fold-up ballet pumps. I usually put my big fluffy slippers in my car to change into after an event. But I’d look much cooler in those ballet shoes!”

Cheryl has previously admitted she carries a large handbag to cram as much as possible into – including spare shoes.

She said: “People often say, ‘What on earth do you have a handbag that size for?’ but you’d be surprised what you can fit in it. I get a whole make-up bag in there, serum, some face wipes and, if I’m travelling, I’ve been known to stuff a pair of shoes in too – I’m not joking!”

Amy Winehouse has been named the least desirable celebrity wife

The ‘Rehab’ singer – famed for her troubled marriage to drug addict Blake Fielder-Civil, tattoo-covered body and eccentric behaviour – topped a poll by My OK! Wedding magazine, in which readers were asked who would be a terrible spouse.

Joining Amy on the list of bad wives were Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lady Gaga, while Charlie Sheen – who entered rehab last week for drink and drug problems – was named least desirable celebrity husband., closely followed by Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise.

While Amy and Charlie weren’t popular marriage material with readers, Natalie Portman – who is expecting her first child with fiance Benjamin Millepied – was given the title of most desirable celebrity wife, with Britain’s Prince Harry being named as the ultimate husband.

Megan Fox, Katy Perry and Kate Moss all made the top ten for the perfect wife, while Justin Bieber, Robert Pattinson, David Beckham and Harry’s brother Prince William were in the running for ideal husband.

Paul Stacey, a spokesman for My OK! Wedding said: “We were stunned by the results. The least attractive celeb brides and grooms were the party monsters. And I was shocked that Madonna, Lady Gaga and Gwyneth Paltrow were in the least desirable top ten.

“And amazingly, now that Harry has cleaned up his act and proven himself to the world with his work in Afghanistan, he has topped the poll beating all the expected candidates like Robert Pattinson and even his brother William.”

Cheryl Cole’s new tattoo marks a “fresh start” in her life

The inking on her lower back – an elaborate etching based around a butterfly and designed by the ‘Promise This’ singer – took 11 hours to complete at Los Angeles tattoo salon Shamrock Social Club and is said to mark her freedom after splitting from husband Ashley Cole last year.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the star told a friend: “The tattoo is deeply personal. It took weeks to come up with the final design. It has a strong symbolic meaning and signifies a fresh start and my new independence.

“The sitting itself was pretty painful but I was determined to get it done in one hit. I didn’t cry once!”

Cheryl, 27, is also believed to have had a tattoo reading ‘Mrs C’ – which she had shortly after she married Ashley in July 2006 – covered up.

The star – who is believed to be dating US dancing professional Derek Hough – also has other tattoos, including a barbed wire design on her left thigh and a Polynesian tribal symbol on her hand.

Following her success as a judge on the UK version of ‘X Factor’, show supremo Simon Cowell wants to give her a role on the US programme when it launches later this year, even if network Fox block her appointment as a panellist.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Simon desperately wants Cheryl to be a judge but if that’s knocked back by Fox chiefs the next option is to start her as a mentor.

“It would be a way to test how she’s received in America. Plus viewers would be able to warm to her first, rather than having her thrust upon them by going straight on the panel.”

Cheryl Cole’s friends thought she had had Botox when she over-plucked her eyebrows

The ‘Promise This’ singer no longer tends to her own brows after her over-zealous antics with her tweezers made her pals suspect she had tried the muscle-freezing injections.

She explained: “I once tried to pluck my brows like Marilyn Monroe. I saw a programme on her and was like, ‘She’s amazing! I want her eyebrows.’ But I went too far and everyone thought I’d had Botox.”

Cheryl’s beauty disasters are not limited to her face – the singer is still haunted by a disastrous trip to her local hair salon when she was a teenager.

The 27-year-old beauty admitted: “I had a nightmare in a salon when I was about 15. I was in there for eight hours, it was expensive and the end result was hideous. It put me off.

“Did they fix it? Not really. They’d turned me blonde. I’ve got photos somewhere.”
