Charlize Theron — 4 Charity…?
by Abbey on Dec.07, 2010, under Actress, Charity, Entertainment
Charlize Theron has auctioned a date with herself for charity
The 35-year-old actress – who has been single since splitting from long-term boyfriend Stuart Townsend earlier this year – offered to attend a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game with whoever bid the highest for a pair of court-side tickets at a fundraiser in New York last night (06.12.10).
A source who attended the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project dinner and auction at the Darby Restaurant told gossip website Just Jared: “All the men in the room were doubling the bids on the courtside Lakers tickets if Charlize attended the game with them. She agreed to attend for $20,000.”
The ‘Monster’ actress launched her charity – which aims to create safer and healthier lives for at-risk children and communities in South Africa, especially those affected by HIV and Aids – in 2007.
Charlize’s close pal Liv Tyler attended the event to see her friend being auctioned off for charity.
Other celebrities who attended included ‘Mad Men’ actor Jon Hamm and wife Jennifer Westfeldt, James Blunt’s former girlfriend Petra Nemcova and fellow model Irina Shayk, while ‘Jackass’ star Johnny Knoxville brought his new wife Naomi Nelson.
Charlize took a break from movies last year to focus on her Africa Outreach Project but is currently filming ‘Young Adults’ with Jason Reitman in New York.

Charlize Theron (born August 7, 1975) is a South African actress, film producer and former fashion model. She rose to fame in the late 1990s following her roles in 2 Days in the Valley, Mighty Joe Young, The Devil’s Advocate and The Cider House Rules.
Charlize received critical acclaim and an Academy Award for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the film Monster, for which she became the first African to win an Academy Award in a major acting category. She received another Academy Award nomination for her performance in North Country.
At the age of 16, she travelled to Milan on a one-year modeling contract, after winning a local competition. Charlize went to New York with Pauline’s Model Management. She decided to remain after her contract ended, attending the Joffrey Ballet School, where she trained as a ballet dancer. A knee injury closed this career path when Theron was 19.
Charlize was cast in her first film part, a non-speaking role in the direct-to-video film Children of the Corn III (1995). Her breakout role was a supporting but significant part in 2 Days in the Valley, but larger roles in widely released Hollywood films followed, and her career skyrocketed in the late 1990s with box office successes like The Devil’s Advocate (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998) and The Cider House Rules (1999). She was on the cover of the January 1999 issue of Vanity Fair as the “White Hot Venus”.

Unable to dance, Charlize flew to Los Angeles on a one-way ticket her mother bought her. During her early months there, she went to a bank to cash a check her mother had sent her to help with the rent. When the teller refused to cash it, she immediately started a shouting match with her. Afterwards, a talent agent in line behind her handed her his business card and subsequently introduced her to some casting agents and also an acting school. She later fired him as her manager after he kept sending her scripts for films similar to Showgirls and Species.
After eight months in the city, she was cast in her first film part, a non-speaking role in the direct-to-video film Children of the Corn III (1995). Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend Split?
by cyan on Jan.31, 2010, under Actress, Relationships
It is rumoured that Charlize Theron has split from her partner of nine years.
The actress – who first met Stuart Townsend on the set of ‘Trapped’ in 2001 – has told friends she split from the Irish actor after a trip to Mexico over the Christmas period, and has now stopped wearing an antique commitment ring he had given her as a sign of his love.
A friend of the couple said: “Stuart is gutted but Charlize said that she realised during the Mexican holiday the relationship was over. They had become more like brother and sister than lovers. It was she who ended it.”
The 34-year-old Hollywood actress is now reportedly living in their main home in the Hollywood Hills, while he has moved his belongings into their beach house.
A source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “She loved Stuart but their relationship ran its course. He is heartbroken but she is insisting it is over. Charlize was surprised the story hadn’t come out yet. But she didn’t confirm it because she wanted to break the news in her own time.”
Stuart has previously spoken about how he considered Charlize to be his wife, even though they’d never married.
He said: “I didn’t do a church wedding or anything but we consider ourselves husband and wife. I don’t need a certificate or the state or the church to say otherwise.”
A spokesman for Charlize said last night (30.01.10): “I never comment on her personal life.”

Gwyneth Paltrow Is To Play Nicole Kidman’s Wife In ‘The Danish Girl’
by cyan on Nov.09, 2009, under Actress, Films

The ‘Iron Man’ actress has signed on to replace Charlize Theron in ‘The Danish Girl’, an adaptation of a novel about the first post-operative transsexual.
The film follows Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener who found success after Einar stood in for a female model that Greta was set to paint. As their work gained popularity, Greta encouraged her husband to continue to adopt a female guise.
This eventually led to Einar undergoing a sex change operation in 1931, shocking the world and threatening their marriage.
Anand Turker is set to direct the film, which screenwriter Lucinda Coxon is adapting from David Ebershoff’s novel of the same name.
Nicole previously won an Oscar for playing a lesbian in ‘The Hours’, while Gwyneth saw her character in ‘Shakespeare In Love’ disguise herself as a man in order to fulfil her acting dreams.
Last week, Nicole said she actively sought out “extreme” film choices and explored all aspects of love, sex and marriage.
She said: “In the end I hope my life will be a mix of extreme love and bold artistic choices. I’ve never wanted to be safe. I’ve never chosen safe relationships. And I’ve never chosen safe films.”
