Claudia Schiffer has named her baby Cosima Violet Vaughn Drummond.

The German supermodel gave birth to her new daughter on May 14 at London’s Portland Hospital and now she and her film producer husband Matthew Vaughn have decided on a moniker for their new arrival.

Claudia’s publicist told Welt Online: “Her name is Cosima Violet Vaughn Drummond. Both mother and child are fine.”

Claudia and Cosima have now left hospital and are back at home.

The couple – who have two other children, seven-year-old son Caspar and five-year-old daughter Clementine – wanted to wait until “the whole family met the newborn” before they announced her name to the world.

Cosima is an Italian name derived from the Greek word kosmos which means “order or decency”. In the 2007 book ‘The Baby Names Bible’, written by Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz, it was described as a fashionable name for the daughters of members of high society in the UK.

Although she lives in England, Claudia recently revealed she wants to spend some time in her native Germany with her family when Matthew is working on the new ‘X-Men’ movie.

The catwalk beauty – who married Matthew in 2002 – said: “I would like to move to Berlin with Matthew and the kids for a few months. If we’re lucky he’ll be shooting some of ‘X-Men’ in Berlin. I would love that. Berlin is like being abroad in Germany. It’s German, but not provincial. Everyone loves it. My friends often tell me how very German I still am.”

The German supermodel – who gave birth to her third child with British film director Matthew Vaughn on Friday (14.05.10) – is happy to bare all because she feels more confident now she’s an older woman.

The 39-year-old – who appears nude and pregnant on the June 2010 cover of German Vogue – said: “I’m a lot more self-confident than I used to be. To some extent I owe that to my children and my husband. I know what I’m doing and what I want. I have control over myself and that feels good.

“I’ve never hidden the fact that I used to be shy, even when I was 30. However, I might have been self-conscious on the inside, but I was never inhibited about my body. I never had a problem with stripping in front of the camera. Maybe that’s because of how I grew up. Back home we never used to knock at the bathroom door. No, I’ve never been prudish.”

Claudia hopes her children – son Caspar, seven, daughter Clementine, five, and her as-yet unnamed newborn – will grow up seeing her modelling work and be proud of her willingness to bare her body.

She said in an interview with German newspaper Welt am Sonntag:  “Caspar goes to school and his mum goes to photo shoots. If he sees the Vogue he will probably think ‘Oh, look at mummy. You can still see her big tummy with the baby inside.’

“My daughter Clemmie is more interested in this whole stuff, the new bags and couture dresses that arrive for fittings or the new make-up. She wants to try it all.”

Claudia Schiffer has become a mother for the third time.

The German supermodel – who already has seven-year-old son Caspar and five-year-old daughter Clementine with husband Matthew Vaughn – gave birth to a little girl yesterday (14.05.10) at London’s Portland Hospital.

A statement from the couple said: “Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn are proud to announce the birth of their baby daughter who was born on Friday May 14 in the early afternoon.”

The baby’s name is yet to be announced.

During her pregnancy, the 39-year-old beauty revealed she had been craving beer but was sticking to the safe non-alcoholic version.

She said: “I have cravings like any other pregnant woman, but I like to drink beer. Non-alcoholic beer!”

Claudia – who married Matthew in May 2002 – has previously spoken about how motherhood made her reassess her attitude to work.

She said: “I used to work every single day and travel round the world. I worked weekends, I never took one second off. When I met my husband I said, ‘You know what, this is important. I’m not going to work weekends any more.’ And when I had kids, I became even more careful. Modelling work is fine because you can do one day here, two days there, you’re never long gone.”

The German supermodel – who has two children, Caspar, six, and five-year-old Clementine, with her film producer husband Michael Vaughn – announced today (15.01.10) she is five-and-a-half months into her pregnancy and is due to deliver the tot in May.

A thrilled Claudia told Grazia magazine: “We are delighted with the news and can’t wait to add to our family.”

The 39-year-old catwalk star – who is one of the world’s most successful models – has previously spoken about how motherhood changed her entire attitude to her career.

Claudia – who married Michael, 38, in May 2002 – said: “I used to work every single day and travel round the world. I worked weekends, I never took one second off. When I met my husband I said, ‘You know what, this is important. I’m not going to work weekends any more.’ And when I had kids, I became even more careful.
