Blake Lively flew to Australia at the weekend to celebrate her birthday with boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star turned 24 last Thursday (25.08.11) and decided to jet Down Under to see her Hollywood heartthrob beau in Sydney – where he has been shooting his new movie ‘The Great Gatsby’ – on Saturday (27.08.11).

The couple – who have been dating since May – enjoyed a meal at exclusive restaurant Aria and were seated at one of the eatery’s best tables which boasts a panoramic view of Sydney Harbour.

A source told Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper: “[Blake] looked gorgeous and they looked very much like a couple. They seemed to be having a really nice time and were definitely enjoying the view.”

Blake is still in Australia with Leonardo, 36, and on Tuesday (30.08.11) the couple enjoyed a trip to Featherdale Wildlife Park in Doonside, western Sydney.

The pair saw a variety of animals and were even allowed to get up close and personal to some baby crocodiles during their visit.

Featherdale marketing manager Kellie Ames said: “We weren’t told who it was. We only knew when they arrived. I made sure I was the one who escorted them when I saw it was Leo. I’m a big fan of his movies.

“They were both so nice and down to earth. Leo was asking about the endangered animals. They loved the koalas and the wombats. We also brought out baby saltwater crocs. Neither of them seemed scared one bit. They were very calm.”

Compiled by the Los Angeles Times Magazine, the Oscar-winning actress landed the number five spot thanks to her role as a Bond girl in ‘Die Another Day‘, closely followed by new mother Penelope Cruz – who gave birth to her first child with Javier Bardem last month – in 11th place.

With the likes of Jennifer Connelly, Kim Basinger and Anne Hathaway all making the top 20, the trio were joined by Hollywood legends Farrah Fawcett, Ava Gardner and Faye Dunaway, while Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were voted in at number 22 and 32 respectively.

‘Gossip Girl‘ actress Blake Lively was the youngest star on the list at the age of 23, while Oscar-nominated ‘Black Swan’ star Natalie Portman, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ beauty Freida Pinto and Julia Roberts also made the top 50.

However, 55-year-old French actress Isabelle Adjani – known for her roles in ‘Queen Margot’ and ‘Possession‘- eclipsed all the other women in the poll by claiming the top spot.

Blake Lively (born August 25, 1987) is an American film and television actress. Blake is best known for her portrayal of Serena van der Woodsen in the book-based TV series Gossip Girl. She has also starred in movies such as Accepted and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, as well as its sequel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

Blake began her acting career at age 11, when she appeared in the 1998 film Sandman, which was directed by Lively’s father. She describes her role in the film as having been a “bit part”. After not having any involvement with acting for almost seven years, Blake appeared in the film adaptation of the novel of the same name, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005. Blake, appearing with America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel, played Bridget, one of the four female leads. Blake’s performance in the film earned her a nomination for a Teen Choice Award for “Choice Movie Breakout – Female.” With a box office revenue of $42 million, the film was Lively’s biggest commercially successful film until it was out-grossed by its sequel.

In 2006, Blake co-starred with Justin Long in Accepted, and Lively, along with her older siblings Robyn, Ernie and Lori, had minor roles in the horror film, Simon Says. While Accepted wasn’t well received by critics, Blake’s performance was, earning her an award from Hollywood Life, in the category of ‘Breakthrough Award’.

Blake played one of the two title characters in Elvis and Anabelle as Anabelle in 2007, a bulimic girl who hoped to win a beauty pageant. She said of getting into character for the role that she’d ’shed serious weight’ for her height. Lively recalled that: “Beauty queens are still very toned [...] So I lost weight, but I got toned. It was the healthiest I’ve ever been. I just made chicken breasts from Whole Foods on a George Foreman Grill, with asparagus and broccoli.” Blake stated that that process was difficult for her because food is “the No. 1 love of my life.” MovieLine.com praised her performance in the film and credited it as having been her “breakthrough role”.

The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hitmaker – who is engaged to Russell Brand – topped the annual Maxim Hot 100 list for being “sexy and talented”, narrowly beating Victoria’s Secret model Brooklyn Decker and ‘Avatar’ actress Zoe Saldana into second and third place respectively.

Explaining her top ranking, the US men’s magazine said of Katy: “She’s the best friend you suddenly realize you’ve loved your whole life. The rad chick who taught you to skateboard and whistle and also looks unbelievable in a bikini.”

Making up the rest of the top five were ‘Gossip Girl’ star Blake Lively, and ‘Transformers’ beauty Megan Fox, while ‘Russian Roulette’ singer Rihanna, George Clooney’s girlfriend Elizabetta Canalis, actress Olivia Munn, socialite Kim Kardashian and model Marisa Miller made up the rest of the top 10.

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star has to get intimate in her new movie ‘The Town’ – in which she plays the ex-girlfriend of a gang leader who is trying to turn his back on a life of crime – and admits she was out of her comfort zone when filming it.

She said: “I have a sex scene in this film and that’s never comfortable. You think, ‘Oh, this is going to be so awkward.’ But this scene isn’t supposed to be a steamy one – it’s sort of tragic. I’m pretty much crying in it.”

The 22-year-old beauty also revealed how she relies on her “gut” instinct when she chooses her roles because otherwise people would be able to convince her to do what they want.

She told America’s Esquire magazine: “I surround myself with people I trust, but ultimately it’s my gut. That’s what I trust. Because I could be swayed any which way – I’m not saying I’m a person who can be swayed easily, but one can be swayed any which way. People will talk to me and something that I’m against at first will then seem like a good idea, but I always end up saying no to that thing.”
