Cheryl Cole’s new tattoo marks a “fresh start” in her life

The inking on her lower back – an elaborate etching based around a butterfly and designed by the ‘Promise This’ singer – took 11 hours to complete at Los Angeles tattoo salon Shamrock Social Club and is said to mark her freedom after splitting from husband Ashley Cole last year.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the star told a friend: “The tattoo is deeply personal. It took weeks to come up with the final design. It has a strong symbolic meaning and signifies a fresh start and my new independence.

“The sitting itself was pretty painful but I was determined to get it done in one hit. I didn’t cry once!”

Cheryl, 27, is also believed to have had a tattoo reading ‘Mrs C’ – which she had shortly after she married Ashley in July 2006 – covered up.

The star – who is believed to be dating US dancing professional Derek Hough – also has other tattoos, including a barbed wire design on her left thigh and a Polynesian tribal symbol on her hand.

Following her success as a judge on the UK version of ‘X Factor’, show supremo Simon Cowell wants to give her a role on the US programme when it launches later this year, even if network Fox block her appointment as a panellist.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Simon desperately wants Cheryl to be a judge but if that’s knocked back by Fox chiefs the next option is to start her as a mentor.

“It would be a way to test how she’s received in America. Plus viewers would be able to warm to her first, rather than having her thrust upon them by going straight on the panel.”

Cheryl Cole would love to take six months out to meditate on a mountain

The ‘Promise This‘ singer – who, last year, divorced soccer player husband Ashley Cole and battled potentially-fatal malaria, which she contracted during a trip to Africa with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough – often dreams of taking some time out from her hectic career.

She said: “It would be nice to take six months out and got to a mountain top and just meditate, let myself go.”

Cheryl also revealed she was tempted to have therapy after her marriage split, but her public profile means she doesn’t trust anyone other than friends and family.

She explained to the February edition of Elle magazine: “It crossed my mind but I’m not trusting enough to bare my soul to a stranger. I’m lucky that I’ve got friends and family to turn to.”

Despite refusing therapy, Cheryl admitted she didn’t cope as well as some people thought with all her problems last year but was determined to put on a brave face in public.

She said: “It’s very much a perception. Nobody knows what I went through behind closed doors.

“Nobody knows what it was like when I was on my own. Of course I held it together in public. Who wouldn’t?”

Cheryl, 27, is set to put her difficult year behind her with a planned move to Los Angeles after reportedly signing a deal to become a judge on the US version of ‘The X Factor‘.

Cheryl Cole has reportedly turned to religion after a traumatic year

The 27-year-old singer is looking for spiritual enlightenment after suffering a tumultuous 2010 which saw her divorce her husband Ashley Cole after he cheated on her and overcome malaria and is investigating different faiths.

A source said: “Cheryl has awakened her spiritual side. She has been tapping into higher powers for answers and guidance. She’s been doing some deep thinking – especially after malaria. Christianity is closest to her, but she’s open to other religious influences.”

Cheryl’s mother Joan Callaghan is a regular churchgoer while the star’s close friend, Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, is deeply religious after being raised a Baptist in California.

The Girls Aloud star could also be seeking spiritual enlightenment from her rumoured love interest Derek Hough, who is a practising Mormon.

Cheryl Cole is scared of being single.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer found it tough following her split from cheating husband Ashley Cole earlier this year, but always knew dumping him was “the right thing to do”.

The Girls Aloud beauty said: “It’s a very different feeling being out there on your own. Slowly but surely I’m finding my feet.

“It was scary and exciting at the same time, but definitely the right thing to do.”

Since the separation, Cheryl, 27, has been romantically linked to professional dancer Derek Hough, and she admits the handsome star has been the perfect person to help her get through life without England soccer player Ashley.

Derek, 25, helped her recover from deadly tropical disease Malaria during the summer and temporarily moved into her home to help care for her.

She said: “Derek is a sweetheart, the kind of person that makes the day more enjoyable. And that’s really important when you’re on set doing a video for 18, 19 hours – maybe longer.”

The singer – whose second solo album ‘Messy Little Raindrops’ is released next month – also revealed she felt completely betrayed by Ashley, 29, after learning of his infidelities but she has now moved on.

She added in her new book ‘Through My Eyes’: “Yes definitely I do [feel betrayed]. But I’ve got to take everything that’s happened and learn from it. I accept that’s a chapter of my life that’s finished.”

Cheryl Cole talks to her dogs on the phone

The ‘Fight For this Love’ singer insists the worst thing about being away from home for work is being separated from her pet pooches Buster and Coco.

The 27-year-old star tries to get the two Chihuahuas on the phone when she’s apart from them but the mutts aren’t very receptive.

She said: “When I’m away I miss the dogs like crazy. I used to talk to them on the phone but I don’t now because I’ve discovered they’re not interested. They don’t listen!”

Cheryl also revealed when she wants to relax and forget about work she will spend a night at home watching TV with her canine friends.

The pop beauty – who is a judge on Simon Cowell’s pop star search show ‘The X Factor’, a member of Girls Aloud and has a successful solo career – added to Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I love spending time with Buster and Coco. That’s how I relax, just chilling out with them. They’re only Chihuahuas so they’re only little, but they’ve got big personalities. I think Buster sees himself as lord of the manor and if I’m away and my mum takes him up to Newcastle (Cheryl’s hometown) it’s like he’s kingpin up there as well. Coco is nervous of other people so she follows me everywhere and looks to me for protection. She’s my little baby.”

In 2009, Cheryl claimed she trusted her dogs more than her now ex-husband Ashley Cole following revelations her had cheated on her.

The Girls Aloud singer – who is also a judge on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ – can’t think of anything worse than giving up her showbiz lifestyle in favour of an office job.

She explained: “Oh my motivation is absolutely being in the public eye. Like I totally get it when people who sit in offices with nine-to-five jobs can’t be bothered. What would be their motivation?

“I would never give up what I do. I love what I do, I love my music, I love being a judge on ‘The X Factor’.”

Cheryl Cole’s marriage has been dissolved in less than 60 seconds

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer – who split from soccer player Ashley Cole in February amid claims he had been unfaithful with a string of women – wasn’t present at London’s High Court to see the decree nisi granted by district judge Chris Simmonds this morning (01.09.10).

In a brief hearing, the judge accepted the couple’s four-year marriage had broken down because of the England and Chelsea defender’s “unreasonable behaviour”.

The brunette beauty has also claimed in legal documents the sportsman is still acting unreasonably.

The couple – whose divorce petition was listed under their initials “CAC v AC” in the hope of avoiding publicity – will now face a six-week “cooling off period” before their marriage is ended for good when a decree absolute is granted.

Cheryl, 27, is currently in Los Angeles with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough as she continues to recover from the bout of malaria she contracted in July.

Cheryl Cole wants to raise money to stop the spread of malaria in Africa.

The pop star was hospitalised after contracting the potentially fatal tropical disease during a trip to Tanzania and while she has been recovering she has decided she wants to help sufferers in the continent.

A friend of the star said: “Cheryl wants to raise money for mosquito nets and better medicines across the worst-affected regions of Africa. After hitting such a terrible physical low, she has come to realise just how awful the disease is and how lucky she has been to receive the best medical care.”

The 27-year-old singer – who had to pull out of the audition stages of pop star search show ‘The X Factor’ and cancelled her scheduled appearances at the V Festival in August so she can fully recover – was discharged from hospital earlier this month and is now convalescing at her home in Surrey, South East England.

Meanwhile, Cheryl’s estranged husband Ashley Cole is selling the north London apartment he shared with the Girls Aloud star before they married.

The soccer player – who is currently in the process of getting divorced from Cheryl – is evicting his tenants from the property so he can put it on the market.

A source told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Ashley informed his tenants that they were being evicted three weeks ago, even though their tenancy is not over. He is hoping to sell up by the end of next month. He wants no more ties to Cheryl or the homes they once shared.”

Cheryl Cole was named Woman of the Year last night (08.06.10).

The 26-year-old singer was handed the prestigious prize at the Glamour Awards which were held in London’s Berkeley Square.

Upon collecting the accolade, Cheryl – who is currently divorcing cheating husband Ashley Cole – said: “Four or five years ago I’d never dreamt I’d be here amongst so many women. One person I definitely have to thank is my dentist. So thank you very much.”

Other winners at the annual ceremony hosted by the women’s magazine

included Dannii Minogue who was presented with the TV Personality of the Year award, Lily Allen, whose friends have been urging her to enter a drug treatment center, received the Solo Artist of the Year accolade, and Billie Piper who was named UK TV Actress of the Year.

The ‘Fight For this Love‘ singer is reportedly planning a lavish bash with her close female friends to celebrate the end of her marriage to British soccer player Ashley Cole – who reportedly cheated on her with numerous women.

The 26-year-old beauty is apparently arranging the get-together to coincide with the England team’s World Cup soccer match against the US next Saturday (12.06.10).

A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper:  “Cheryl is very keen to have the divorce settled so she can get on with her life. She wants to let her hair down and forget about Ashley. There will be a strict no televisions policy so Cheryl and her pals do not see the 29-year-old love-rat in the game.

“She has no interest in watching England’s World Cup matches because of Ashley’s involvement so she thought the perfect time for a mini-celebration would be during the USA game.”

Cheryl filed for divorce last month, just weeks after it was claimed her spouse had been sending explicit picture and text messages to other women – who he has also been accused of having sex with.

Since the split, Cheryl has been spending lots of time with her backing dancer Derek Hough – who recently won ‘Dancing With The Stars‘ with Nicole Scherzinger – fuelling speculation they are secretly dating.

Cheryl’s estranged husband Ashley has also seemingly moved on, and is reportedly dating 23-year-old lapdancer Sarah Purnell.

Cheryl Cole has filed for divorce from husband Ashley Cole.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer’s legal team lodged her request for a “quickie” divorce at London’s High Court yesterday (25.05.10), where she cited his “unreasonable behaviour” as the reason behind the end of their three-and-a-half-year marriage.

This comes just months after it was alleged the soccer player had cheated on her with numerous women.

In a bid to end their union as quickly as possible, the 26-year-old beauty has told the England star she doesn’t want any of his money and he can keep their £6 million home if she can have a “clean break” from him.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “She wants a completely clean break with no malice or wrangling over property or money. Cheryl will not take one penny of Ashley’s money.

“Crucially, people expected her to request their mansion as part of the divorce terms. But the house means nothing to her.

“Cheryl is giving the house to him.”

Cheryl’s publicity firm Supersonic PR said in a statement: “We can confirm the divorce. We have no further comment.”

In February, the Girls Aloud star announced she was separating from her husband, after several women claimed they had received explicit picture and text messages from Ashley’s secret mobile phone and had sex with him.

In the legal documents, it states Cheryl had “put it to him that he had been unfaithful” and he “admitted” it was true.

The source added: “She has fully accepted there is no going back after Ashley’s cheating and their marriage breakdown.

“So this divorce will be clean, swift, amicable and smooth. Cheryl has no spite towards Ashley and has been incredibly mature and considered in how she has handled the split.”

It is believed Cheryl had planned to file for divorce in July – the month in which they would have celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary – but decided to bring it forward so their union will have ended before the World Cup soccer tournament starts in South Africa next month.

Cheryl Cole says her mother is her biggest role model.

The 26-year-old pop star insists her mother Joan Callaghan inspired her to be a better person because she has such a positive outlook on life.

Cheryl – who moved Joan into her marital home while she was still living with her now estranged husband Ashley Cole – said: My mum’s a great person. When I was growing up, she was never somebody who commented on other women. You know you hear women commenting on other women in a mean way? My mother was never like that. Everybody is lovely in her eyes.”

She added in an interview with Style magazine: “If you could just give me one word to be, ‘inspirational’ would be the one. I want to inspire women to make the best of themselves. So to think that I can be inspiring someone like that – or in any kind of way – is great.”

Cheryl Cole is “scared” of Botox.

The 26-year-old singer has no problem with getting older and can’t understand why women her age or younger have the painful anti-wrinkle treatment to keep them looking flawless.

She said: “I try not to worry. I’ve got a few older friends and I always hear them going, ‘How old? 26? Ah, you’re a baby’, and I’m kind of like, ‘Maybe I should embrace it and not worry about looking old’. It scares me when I think that someone women have Botox at 25.”

Soccer player Ashley Cole – who is alleged to have cheated on his estranged wife with a string of women – is desperate for the ‘Fight for This Love’ singer to give him one last chance so has put all the music she likes onto an mp3 player in the hope she will realise how much she misses him.

A source said: “He bought an iPod and is currently downloading all of the songs they loved as a couple. He’s trying everything in his power to win her back.

“Cheryl won’t talk to him face to face, but he’s hoping this might help her remember the good times in their relationship. There are a lot of messages of love and apology in there.

“This is his attempt to make her listen, through song, to what he has to say.”

Songs on the playlist reportedly include ‘I Will Always Love You’, ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’ and ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, but sources say Cheryl will be unimpressed by his gesture.

The Girls Aloud beauty – who separated from her soccer player husband Ashley Cole in February following his alleged infidelities – is still a favourite with the men of Britain after winning the top spot for a consecutive year for FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll.

The 26-year-old singer – who is also a judge on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ – beat ‘Transformers’ actress Megan Fox and Victoria’s Secret model Marissa Miller into second and third place respectively.

Colin Kennedy, Editor-in-Chief of FHM claimed the “nation’s sweetheart” was an obvious winner for this year’s poll.

He said: “After hogging the headlines and dominating TV screens for 12 solid months the nation’s sweetheart romped home for a second successive year, leaving all challengers in her curvaceous wake.”

Cheryl Cole is reportedly seeking a gagging order to stop cheating husband Ashley Cole ever speaking about their relationship.

The ‘Fight For This Love’ singer is said to be seeking a quick divorce from soccer star Ashley – who has been exposed as a serial love cheat – and among her list of demands is an order banning him from making any contact with her, including by phone or text message, for six months after their split is finalised.

Other demands in a letter from Cheryl’s lawyer include Ashley agreeing immediately to a divorce, a lifetime gagging order which bans him from ever talking about their relationship in the future, and agreeing to let Cheryl keep their £6 million mansion by buying out his half of it.

The singer does not, however, want any of Ashley’s estimated £10 million fortune. A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl does not want a single thing from Ashley except his signature on the divorce agreement. She just wants him to leave her alone, accept it is over and for them both to move on.”

The letter sent by Cheryl is a ‘Heads of Agreement’, the first stage of a process to reach an out-of-court settlement on the end to their marriage. As a show of goodwill toward Ashley, 29, Cheryl, 26, is reportedly not citing ‘adultery’ as the reason for the divorce, instead opting for ‘irreconcilable differences’.

If Ashley agrees to the demands, it is thought their split could be made official by the end of the summer. Divorce lawyer Mark Stephens said: “Despite the large sums of money involved in a high-profile divorce like this, it will be relatively straightforward if he agrees to the demands. There are no children involved, so this could all be done and dusted very quickly.”

Cheryl Cole has reportedly been asked by will.i.am to fly to Los Angles for a “secret date”.

The Black Eyed Peas star has given the ‘Parachute’ singer a shoulder to cry on since she split from her soccer player husband Ashley Cole over his alleged infidelities, and he now wants her to spend Easter weekend with him and his family.

A source told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “He has asked Cheryl to fly out to Los Angeles for a secret date with him over Easter. He’s having a big family get-together and he wants her to be there.”

The 35-year-old pop star has worked with Cheryl, 26, on many occasions, first duetting with her on his 2008 single ‘Heartbreaker’.

He then went on to co-write and produce most of her debut solo album ‘3 Words’, which was released last year.

Cheryl has previously praised will.i.am for being a great artist and a good friend.

She said: “I would work with Will for the rest of my career if I could. He’s absolutely inspiring, fantastic, futuristic, creative, he’s everything that you would want from a producer and also from a person.”

Besides their working relationship, friends of Cheryl say there is a spark between the pair.

Earlier this month, it was claimed Cheryl and Ashley often argued about the Girls Aloud star’s friendship with will.i.am.

Referring to comments made by the ‘Meet Me Halfway’ hitmaker who said he would move to Britain “if it meant being with her”, a source revealed: “will.i.am’s comments about his wife are not news or a surprise to Ashley. He and Cheryl rowed about it last year.

“She’s done absolutely nothing wrong but Ashley’s sick of this man openly making advances toward her.”

Cheryl Cole was about to start a family with Ashley Cole before his infidelities were revealed.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer – who dumped the soccer player after allegations he cheated on her with several other women surfaced – is devastated about their split because she was getting the “maternal instinct”, according to her brother Andrew Tweedy.

Andrew told Britain’s Star magazine: “They were thinking about it and trying to organise how to sort things out with their careers to get around it. We come from a big family and she’s got the maternal instinct. She was just getting ready to work out how they were going to fit it in.”

Andrew – the eldest of Cheryl’s four siblings – is worried about his pop star sister being on her own, but is delighted she isn’t taking her husband back.

The 29 year old said: “I’m always worried about things like this. What’s happened has hit her really hard, because of her being so sensitive.

“He has done it too many times now. What’s that old saying? ‘You can fool me once, but you’ll not fool me twice.’ She has already forgiven him and given him chances but I don’t think he’s got anymore get out of jail free cards left.”

Andrew believes England player Ashley’s extravagant lifestyle gave him opportunities to cheat and, unfortunately for Cheryl, he succumbed to them.

He said: “It was such a shock because everything appeared to be good. too much opportunity. But he’s cheated on a gorgeous woman with absolute dogs.

“I was fuming. I am absolutely devastated for Cheryl. I was shocked. Why would he want to do that and spoil what they had?”

Cheryl Cole has been voted the Most Inspirational Woman of the Decade.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer – who has been focusing on her solo career since she separated from her soccer star spouse Ashley Cole last month following claims he cheated on her several times – was named as the celebrity female who has made the biggest impression on other women.

The 26-year-old pop star was given the honour for both her “beauty” and “success” – with 29 per cent of her fans praising her looks and 51 per cent in awe of her career.

A survey taken out on the cosmetic treatment review website, www.goodsurgeonguide.co.uk asked over 1,100 British women their views on a number of the world’s biggest celebrities.

Actress Dame Helen Mirren polled second, chat show host Oprah Winfrey was placed third and Jennifer Aniston came fourth while Britain’s Queen Elizabeth was surprisingly named the sixth most inspirational woman.

Katie Piper, the model who survived a horrifying acid attack, was named fifth in the list.

Author J. K. Rowling, TV personality Sharon Osbourne, singer Kylie Minogue and sportswoman Amy Williams – who took gold in the skeleton competition at the Winter Olympics – completed the top 10.

Christiana Clogg, owner of The Good Surgeon Guide, said: “It is great that the results show these women as inspirational for a variety of reasons. Success is something that most women aspire to have, not necessarily success in the public eye, but success on a personal level.”

The survey also asked the same group of females about who has made the least impression on them over the past 10 years.

Model-turned-body builder Jodie Marsh has topped this list, followed by a number of British stars, including Tara Palmer Tomkinson, reality TV stars Chantelle Houghton and Kerry Katona, Rebecca Loos – who claimed to have had an affair with soccer star David Beckham – and actress Helen Flanagan.

Cheryl Cole threw her husband out of their house after only 20 minutes on Friday (12.03.10)

Soccer star Ashley Cole had flown to the UK for the first meeting with his pop star wife after he is alleged to have cheated on her with a string of women – but she reportedly refused to speak to him or even let him in the same room as her while he collected his belongings before her mother, Joan, told him to leave.
Ashley had previously been in the South of France where he was recovering from a broken ankle in a bid to get fit in time to play for England in this year’s World Cup tournament. He landed back in the UK on Friday – flying back in his club’s owner’s private jet – before going directly to the house, giving Cheryl little notice of his intention to see her.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl was furious that he just turned up and was even more angry when he thought they would be able to talk.
“She’s going to talk to him on her terms when she wants to. She was livid that he turned up at the house with hardly any warning.”
Ashley then spent the night at the house of a friend who lives near to the grounds of his London team, Chelsea. Officials at the club are said to be worried about the player’s wellbeing.
A source said: “He was visibly upset, and we were shocked at his appearance. He’s a complete state and in a bad way. He was dishevelled, which is unusual for him. It was as if he didn’t care about how he looks any more.
“He also looked very gaunt. It was obvious he’s lost a lot of weight and hasn’t been looking after himself.”
Earlier this week, Ashley had reportedly been confident of a reconciliation, and told friends about how he and Cheryl would get back together.
A source said: “Ashley’s been very cocky about the whole situation– bragging they’ll be back together soon. Ashley says he thinks there will be a proper separation for three to six months and hopefully that will be long enough for Cheryl to get things clear in her head.
“Then he hopes the pair will be able to mend their marriage. As far as Ashley’s concerned this will not end in divorce.”
Meanwhile ‘Parachute’ singer Cheryl cancelled all her publicity engagements this week, including TV and radio appearances after being taken ill with Bronchitis.

The ‘Parachute’ singer – who has had a turbulent few weeks after dumping husband Ashley Cole following revelations he cheated on her with several women – has been forced to cancel two public appearances as she battles the lung infection.

Cheryl was due to film an interview on British talk show ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross’ last night (11.03.10), to be aired tonight (12.03.10), and was scheduled to perform live on UK station Radio One today.

The 26-year-old pop star is apparently so unwell she can’t even leave her house.

A source said: “Cheryl has been a trouper up until now but the pressure has finally got to her. She is very sick and feeling very, very low. The bronchitis has knocked her off her feet.”

Last night, her spokesperson confirmed Cheryl had been forced to withdraw from her pre-arranged appearances.

The spokesperson said: “Cheryl has had to postpone all promotion until she is better.”

Cheryl’s estranged spouse Ashley is apparently desperate to fly over from France – where he is currently being treated for a broken ankle – so he can meet up with the ‘Fight for This Love’ singer.

The England soccer player is due to be checked over by medics later today, and has a car on standby to take him to the airport as soon as he gets the all-clear.

A fellow patient at the sports injury clinic said: “There is a car on standby and a plane waiting to go. It is like a military operation.

“He’s had a long time to think about what he wants to say to his wife. Now he just wants to get on with it.

“I don’t know what he’ll do if doctors say he needs to stay. He’ll probably sneak off to the roof and be whisked away by helicopter”.

Cheryl Cole is planning to move out of her marital home.

The ‘Parachute’ singer wants to quit the house she shared with estranged husband Ashley Cole in Surrey, South East England – who is alleged to have cheated on her with a string of other women – as soon as possible because it holds too many painful memories.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl does not want the separation to be a long, drawn-out affair. She wants to find somewhere quickly so she can regain stability and become settled once more.

“If she can’t find somewhere she likes she’ll consider rented accommodation in the short term.”

The news will come as a further blow to soccer star Ashley, 29, who is presently in France receiving treatment for a broken ankle, which has stopped him returning to the UK for crisis talks about his marriage.

Ashley was due to fly home yesterday (09.03.10) but is said to have chosen to stay on at the clinic longer in an attempt to get fit to play for England in the World Cup in South Africa this summer.

A source at the CERS clinic in South West France told the Daily Star newspaper: “He has faced a dreadful dilemma. You could almost say he put England before Cheryl.”
