Why Keira Knightley Decided To Reduce Her Movie Workload?

by cyan on Feb.12, 2011, under Actress, Roles

Keira KnightleyKeira Knightley decided to reduce her movie workload because she was suffering from “exhaustion”.

The ‘Never Let Me Go’ actress – who in the past has admitted she can see herself moving away from acting altogether – made the decision she needed a year off from lead roles after she was left drained after playing Georgiana Cavendish in 2008’s ‘The Duchess’.

She explained: “After I did ‘The Duchess’ I was absolutely exhausted and I just went, ‘OK, I need to stop’. So I took a year off and I’ve been playing a lot of supporting roles recently.

“I haven’t taken a lead, and I think that’s partly because of that need to find a balance.”

However, the 25-year-old star – who split from her boyfriend of five years Rupert Friend in December – accepts she is “incredibly privileged” to be able to pick and choose when she works.

Keira added: “I’m in an incredibly privileged position where I can choose my work. I suppose I’m looking to be stimulated in things that I can put myself into which teach me something about myself and the world.”

Kristen Stewart Was Teased By Her Peers Over Her Early Roles

by cyan on Sep.19, 2010, under Actress, Roles

Kristen StewartThe ‘Runaways’ star – who landed her first acting role in TV movie ‘The Thirteenth Year’ when she was nine years old – hated the way she was teased by her peers over her early roles, in particular when she played a tomboy in ‘The Safety of Objects’.

She said: “I didn’t walk around talking about doing movies but then someone saw an old movie I was in, ‘The Safety of Objects’, and realised that the little boy in it had grown up into this girl – me. And then I got a lot of, ‘She’s such a b***h!’

“And yet most of these kids had never even spoken to me.”

The 20-year-old actress quit school when she was 13 and admits she was happy to leave the education system behind because she didn’t relate to her classmates.

She added in an interview with the Daily Telegraph website: “I was glad to leave school. I was missing a lot of classes and they were failing me.

“I couldn’t relate to kids my own age. They are mean and don’t give you any chance. Once you have done with school, you realise that it is just a smaller version of life, and really I have felt that I should have been an adult since I was aged about five.

“I remember when I turned 18 everyone asked me if I felt more mature, but I felt the same as I always did. Juggling work and school, and helping my mother; I’ve always had a lot of responsibility.’

Emma Roberts Won’t Strip Off Naked For A Film Role

by cyan on Aug.10, 2010, under Actress, Roles

The 19-year-old actress – who is the niece of Julia’s Roberts – wouldn’t be comfortable being nude in front of the cameras.

She told W magazine: “I don’t know that I’d do a full-on nude scene, ever. I’ve never had a full-on sex scene, but we’ll see.”

Although Emma has a clear idea of which direction she wants her career to go, she admits she is living her dream by becoming an actress.

The ‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story’ star – whose father is ‘The Expendables’ actor Eric Roberts, who is Julia’s brother – added: “I always wanted to be an actress. My first audition, while I was 9, was playing Johnny Depp’s daughter. I think everyone in my family was shocked because they sent me on the audition to kind of shut me up about the acting thing.”

Emma has previously admitted she finds it “frustrating” that people think she’s only successful because of her famous family.

The young star – who appeared alongside aunt Julia in ‘Valentine’s Day’ said: “Sometimes it’s frustrating because people think I’m only working or doing stuff because of my family when that’s not true at all.

“We actually try to keep work life and family life completely separate, so it’s just frustrating when I hear that because I’ve worked really hard.”

Angelina Jolie Looks “rough” In Her New Movie ‘Salt’

by Alice on Jul.10, 2010, under Actress, Movies, Roles

The 35-year-old beauty admits her turn as CIA officer Evelyn Salt is one of the most unglamorous roles she has ever taken on.

She said: “Females in those films rely on being female but we wanted to ignore that – she’s just Salt.

“She doesn’t use her sexuality to get anything. In fact, in many ways it’s the roughest I’ve looked because when you fight it gets ugly and if someone breaks your nose it’s not pretty.”

The part of Evelyn Salt came about as a result of a script change – the role was originally meant to be played by a man – and Angelina admits it was tough to adapt the screenplay to have a woman as the lead character.

She told Total Film magazine: “It was much harder than we thought to switch it from a male to a female because the challenges and surprises or how a man would react to a certain situation are not necessarily the same when it’s a woman.

“For example, the original character was married and he had a child and part of the discovery at the end was that he would find love. But for a woman the discovery of love is not a deep surprise.”

Kellan Lutz Was Cut By A Machete While Shooting For ‘The Killing Game’

by cyan on Jun.23, 2010, under Actor, Roles

Kellan Lutz was cut by a machete while shooting his latest film.

The 25-year-old actor loves tackling his own stunts but left his agent horrified when the knife action got out of hand on his new movie ‘The Killing Game’.

He explained: “I loved doing stunts; I don’t have tattoos and I always say that my scars and bruises are my tattoos. I just did this movie called ‘The Killing Game’ and we had real machetes and my chest got cut up by accident. My agent was like, ‘That’s your money maker! You can’t ruin that!’ ”

Kellan – who is best known for playing Emmett Cullen in the ‘Twilight Saga’ – was left disappointed when he had to axe plans to indulge his action-loving side starring opposite Sylvester Stallone in ‘The Expendables’ because it clashed with his commitment to the vampire series.

He explained in an interview with website Dose.ca: “I love action movies, I want to work with Sylvester Stallone one day. I was supposed to work on his movie ‘The Expendables’.

“I auditioned for it and I got the role, but the scheduling didn’t work out with ‘New Moon’. And I was just like, ‘What a bummer.’ It has seven of my favourite action stars. Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture… it’s such an all-star cast. If the name ‘Kellan’ would have been up there with them, I would have died happy.”

Kim Cattrall On Her New Movie ‘Meet Monica Velour’

by cyan on Apr.28, 2010, under Movies, Roles

Kim CattrallThe 53-year-old actress – best known for her role as maneater Samantha Jones in ‘Sex and the City’ – plays an ageing prostitute in the film, and admits she did her best to avoid seeing herself on screen.

She said: “Most of the time as an actress, you want to look desirable, you want to be pretty, you want to be sexy, you want to be lit properly – whereas there were days when I didn’t even have any make-up on.

“There were days when they actually changed the light to make me look harder and more overweight or just more f***ed up. I didn’t see the dailies on it because I thought, ‘You know, I’ve made a stand here that I’m gonna do this in a very truthful way, and if I look at them they might scare me.’ ”

Despite her worries about the way she looks in the Keith Bearden-directed movie, Kim believes she was totally detached from the character, not even recognising herself when she saw the film.

Kim – who gained 15lbs for the role – added to New York magazine: “I felt the movie was very truthful, especially the strip scene: She’s not in her body. When I first saw the film I was in a bit of a shock because I didn’t see myself. I couldn’t find my spirit. Mine. Kim’s. I felt it was so totally someone else, and a lot of it was really scary to look at.”

Miley Cyrus Intent on Pursuing A Serious Acting Career

by cyan on Apr.28, 2010, under Actress, Roles

Miley Cyrus

The 17-year-old actress – who portrays troubled youth Ronnie Miller in ‘The Last Song’ – admits she was “embarrassed” when her most touching on-screen moment was interrupted by her communications device ringing in the middle of filming.

She said: “The funniest scene was also the saddest. Ronnie visits her terminally-ill dad in hospital and is struggling to hold back the tears. It was absolutely silent on set and suddenly my mobile phone goes off playing ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’.

“I’m just so anxious about losing my phone I always have it with me. That was quite embarrassing, but also absolutely hilarious.”

Despite the unprofessional disruption, Miley – who is best known for her role in Disney TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ – claims she’s intent on pursuing a serious acting career.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to act, even though the critics don’t seem to be very enthusiastic about my first serious role. I know I’ve done my best and that’s the main thing.”

It was while filming the drama that Miley fell in love with her co-star and love interest in the movie, Liam Hemsworth, 19, but the Australian actor admitted he wasn’t aware of her celebrity status before they worked together.

Liam told website Bunte.de: “Miley is a huge star in Australia and I was probably the only one who had never heard of her before. Only when I arrived on set and saw all those fans and photographers I realised how famous she is.”

Rumours: ‘Twilight’ Beauty Kristen Stewart In ‘Wanted 2′?

by cyan on Apr.23, 2010, under Actress, Roles, Rumours

Kristen Stewart

It is rumoured that Kristen Stewart is being lined up to replace Angelina Jolie in ‘Wanted 2’.

The ‘Twilight’ beauty has reportedly been approached to replace Angelina as the female lead character in the sequel to ‘Wanted’ and has met with Timur Bekmambetov, the director of the series.

According to the E! News service Timur wants Kristen to play a new young assassin in the comic book adaptation – about a brotherhood of secret assassins who have control over secret superhuman abilities – alongside James McAvoy.

Angelina’s character, Fox, was killed off at the end of the first film, but Timur had previously told of his plans to bring her back in the second instalment.

He said: “We know how to do this, but it’s still tough to do, because there is a bullet inside her head.

“But there has to be a reason for her to come back – and we know the reason. I think we found the reason for her to come back.”

Angelina, however, has reportedly distanced herself from the project, reportedly leading to the studio behind the film unsure whether to fund it without a big female star, meaning Kristen could save the project.

Complications have arisen for the project though, as Kristen is scheduled to film the fourth ‘Twilight’ film, ‘Breaking Dawn’ – which will be released in two parts – around October this year; although the film’s producers have not yet specified a start date for shooting, which has affected actors involved with which other projects they are able to take on.

He told heat magazine: “I’d consider going into politics. Prime Minister! I’d like that. I’d do it in 2013, 13 is my lucky number.

What Pierce Brosnan Thinks About Robert Pattinson?

by cyan on Mar.31, 2010, under Actor, Fans, Roles

Pierce Brosnan has revealed his ‘Remember Me’ co-star Robert Pattinson was pursued by beautiful girls on set every day.

The former James Bond star – who plays Robert’s estranged father in the gripping family drama – had to make do with older admirers while the 23-year-old heartthrob soaked up the attention of screaming teenagers.

Pierce, who shot the movie with Robert in New York, told Empire magazine: “I remember being outside the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. We were shooting in the Oak Room and there were 2,000 girls out there from 12 to 21. Actually, there were some gorgeous looking girls out there, but they weren’t around my caravan. I had the mothers at my end and some beauties there were too! But it was very sedate by my end of the motor homes. I’d walk out and get a hearty cheer. I’d trip up the steps of the Plaza feeling very good with myself that I still have the juice. But as I’d be walking down the corridors into the Plaza I would hear this wave, this cacophony of sound as girls clamoured for Robert. His girls go through the rafters for him.”

The 56-year-old star thinks Robert – who has become an international heartthrob after playing vampire Edward Cullen in the ‘Twilight’ movies – will be able to handle his enormous fame, but he personally finds it almost incomprehensible.

He added: “I never experienced anything like that as a young man of 23. I’m sure he’ll weather the waters swimmingly. He’s a grand lad and I wish him well in every way.”

Lorenzo Von Matterhorn – The Fictional Character

by cyan on Mar.30, 2010, under Actor, Roles

Lorenzo Von MatterhornLorenzo Von Matterhorn, who he is a fictional character introduced by the CBS comedy ‘How I Met Your Mother’, is very popular on the internet. Lorenzo Von Matterhorn is one of the many personalities of Barney Stinson on the show.

Barney describes the play he used, the “Lorenzo von Matterhorn”, using fake websites, a smartphone, and a strange name. As revenge, Lily steals the playbook and threatens to publish it on the internet if Barney does not stop tricking women into sleeping with him. The key to dating was self-confidence, which Barney had in spades.

The most surprising thing is that a Wikipedia page for Lorenzo Von Matterhorn was also created in October, but was pulled down when the show revealed it to be a hoax.

The page said, “Lorenzo Von Matterhorn (Aka Daniel Bailey) was born somewhere in Switzerland in the spring of 1974. The exact date and circumstances of his birth are unknown since he was immediately placed in a basket and tossed in a river. Young Lorenzo rode the pristine Alpine glacial melt waters for hundreds of miles until a young Milanese woman discovered the basket along the banks of the river Po. Some say it was this first early journey to Milan that fueled both his love of exploration and fashion. The woman would raise Lorenzo as her own, naming him Lorenzo after her father and giving him the surname Von Matterhorn to reflect his Swiss heritage. Has a twin brother named Julio.”

It further stard, “Shortly after his family moved to New York City in the late 70’s, Lorenzo began rescuing stray puppies and other cute animals. As someone who had been abandoned himself, Lorenzo recognized both the pain of loneliness as well as the power of hope. One evening, while nursing a particularly cute Cocker Spaniel back to health, Lorenzo noticed the rest of his brood howling in unison. Curious as to their abilities, he spent the next several months developing their voices and then entered them as a musical act in a local festival under the name DOG STEVENS. They took first place, and went on to become one of the most successful animal musical acts since The Beatles.”

Robert Pattinson On Raunchy Scenes With Emilie de Ravin

by cyan on Mar.22, 2010, under Actor, Roles

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson’s kinky sex scenes have given him “respect for porn stars.”

The 23-year-old actor – who had to film raunchy scenes with his co-star Emilie de Ravin in ‘Remember Me’ – found stripping off on screen a difficult skill to master and has a newfound admiration for adult movie stars.
He explained: “When you end up doing it, you have this little patch on your privates. I didn’t really tape it up properly, so I’d spent so long taping it round myself and then literally it falls off within one second and it’s taped to the sheet. And you realise the whole crew are looking directly at your butt crack. I can’t think of anything exciting for them about this. It gives you a lot of respect for porn stars.”

The ‘Twilight’ hunk was so nervous about the sex scene, the director gave him and Emilie a selection of sex toys – including pornographic videos and handcuffs – to try and make them “more comfortable.”
Robert explained to The Sunday Times Style magazine: “Emilie was very, very, very comfortable. I’m always the one who’s the most uncomfortable. So we came into the room, and they said ‘It’s a closed set,’ blah, blah, and we got on to the bed and the director was like, ‘I got you these things, if just maybe you wanted to use them. You don’t have to use them, maybe it will make you more comfortable.’ They were these bondage things: lube and handcuffs and porn videos. It was so funny! “

Leonardo DiCaprio Wanted To Stop Acting For A While After Starring In Titanic?

by cyan on Mar.12, 2010, under Actor, Roles

Leonardo DiCaprioLeonardo DiCaprio considered quitting acting after starring in ‘Titanic’.

The 35-year-old actor didn’t enjoy the fame he achieved by starring in the blockbuster movie because his appearance took precedence over his acting ability.

Leonardo – who starred in the movie with Kate Winslet – said: “At first I hated the way I was turned into a pretty boy, as if that was all that was expected of me.

“It made me almost want to stop acting for a while because the attention that was focused on me was not where I wanted to take my career.

“I didn’t want to do romantic films or anything which just exploited my image or appearance. I also kind of had to be more careful about the friends I was hanging out with. I was living a pretty big life for a while and then that just gets tiresome.”

Leonardo has also revealed children could be on the cards for him and girlfriend Bar Refaeli.

The ‘Shutter Island’ star admits family has become more important to him since the death of his 93-year-old grandmother Helene Indenbirken in 2008.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Family is something I’m starting to think about more and more, especially now that my grandmother is no longer around.  It makes you think about the importance of things and how important it is to be part of a family – to have some meaning apart from your work.”

The British actor, who played good guy William Turner in the swashbuckling flick, has no plans to return to the franchise, despite a clamour for his reprisal.

Orlando is the second star of the franchise to confirm he won’t be in the next instalment of the series.

Keira Knightly – who plays Elizabeth Swan – has also stated she won’t be returning.

Lead character Captain Jack Sparrow – played by Johnny – is returning for the fourth movie, entitled ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’.

It has been suggested the actor will receive at least £21 million for reprising the role.

Gabourey Sidibe Talks About Working With Mariah Carey

by cyan on Jan.26, 2010, under Actress, Roles

Gabourey Sidibe felt “inspired” working alongside Mariah Carey.

The American star – who made her acting debut in ‘Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire’, in which she plays troubled teenager Claireece ‘Precious’ Jones – admits it was a dream come true working with Mariah, who played her dowdy social worker.

Gabourey said: “I’ve bought Mariah’s albums and I saw her live recently. I’ve been inspired by various people such as Mo’Nique, Mariah and Mary J. Blige.”

The 26-year-old actress was equally impressed by British star Dame Helen Mirren when she met her at the recent Golden Globe Awards.

She told The Sun newspaper: “It pretty much rocked my face off. She is really awesome. She is the nicest lady.

“Oh man, the Golden Globes was a lot of fun. It was so fun because it was packed, but packed with celebrities. It was like leaving a baseball game and finding the person you happen to be crunched up against is Leonardo DiCaprio.”

The role for the movie required an overweight teenager, and plus-sized Gabourey fitted the profile, however, she isn’t worried about her frame being a disadvantage in Hollywood.

She said: “I love the way I look. I’m never going to be a size two. I’m just not structured in that way. I am not worried about Hollywood trying to change me. They haven’t changed yet – for now people seem to like me as I am.

Kristen Stewart plays a stripper in her new film.

The ‘Twilight’ star portrays a 16-year-old runaway who gets into erotic dancing and occasional prostitution to earn money in the movie – which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Saturday (23.01.10) – and Kristen admits it is a big departure for her.

She said: “My character’s not sultry, not sexy. She sort of throws herself into all her moves. I tore myself up doing it.”

The 19-year-old actress is seen dancing in platform heels, fishnets, a micro-mini skirt and a bra in one scene and the actress was nervous about shooting the sequence with co-star James Gandolfini.

She added: “The first time I put on all the fishnets I was nervous. I really tried to own it though.”

Kristen trained with a professional stripper for two weeks to prepare for the movie and initially wanted to learn the sexy moves covered up.

Speaking to Us Weekly magazine, she said: “I wanted to do it in my clothes. But my trainer was like, ‘No, you don’t stick to the poll when you do that.’ ”
