Hugh And Robbie Planning 4 Concerts
by Kavy on Jul.22, 2011, under Music
Hugh Jackman is planning to sing at a series of concerts in London later this year – and he wants Robbie Williams to join him
The Australian actor is set to put on the “fun” gigs when he takes a break from starring in the film version of musical ‘Les Miserables’ – which sees him play the central character of former convict Jean Valjean – and he has been taking inspiration from late American swing singer Frank Sinatra’s Los Angeles performances.
And Hugh is hoping the Take That singer – who previously released ‘Swing When You’re Winning’, which was comprised of tracks which are part of the Great American Songbook – will duet with him on stage.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: “I loved that anything can happen, relaxed feel about Frank Sinatra – and viewing Peter Allen’s tapes also taught me a lot. We’re planning to do some Sunday night concerts when I’m in London in the spring.
“We’re looking for the right space, and the idea is to do the shows when I’ve got time off from ‘Les Miserables’. I just want them to be fun. I feel like I should have a whisky in my hand, like Dean Martin, and then get Robbie Williams to come on and join me.”
The 42-year-old actor – who is set to start shooting new movie ‘The Wolverine’ in October – recently performed his ‘In Concert’ show at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, which saw him sing classical tunes from musicals ‘Oklahoma!’, ‘Carousel’, ‘Dreamgirls’ and the Peter Allen catalogue.
He said: “I wanted to create a show where I can’t wait to do it.”

Captain Jack Sparrow’s Music
by Lisa on May.11, 2011, under Music
Johnny Depp is writing music with Steven Tyler
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ actor – who has previously played guitar on tracks by Oasis and Shane McGowan – has struck up a friendship with the Aerosmith rocker and says their collaboration is a “dream come true”.
He told US TV show ‘Extra’: “We’ve been hanging out here and there. He’s someone I’ve admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true.”
Steven recently admitted he would love to see Johnny play him in a movie of his life and the 47-year-old actor would jump at the chance to portray the rocker.
He said: “I would give it a shot, why not.”
Meanwhile, Johnny – who reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ – has admitted he was pleased Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards agreed to return to the franchise as Captain Teague – because spending time with the legendary musician makes him feel like he is in a rock band.
He said: “To be able to bring him back into the ‘Pirates’ fold, where he most certainly belongs, was a gas.
“Just spending a couple days sharing a trailer, it was as close, I suppose, as being in a rock ‘n’ roll band with him as you can get.”

Rusults: Music Millionaires 2011
by Kavy on May.05, 2011, under Music
Simon Cowell is reportedly worth £200 million
The 51-year-old music mogul made £35 million last year from his various business interests including his SyCo music label and reality TV shows including ‘The X Factor’ and ‘America’s Got Talent’, leading to his inclusion at number six on the annual Sunday Times Rich List of Britain’s music millionaires, which is due to be published by the newspaper this weekend.
Simon – who owns homes in Beverly Hills, Barbados, Malaga and Dubai – has bypassed music legends including Sir Elton John, Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on the list, but his assets are dwarfed by others including former Zomba Records owner Clive Calder who took the top spot with a £1.3 billion fortune and rival Simon Fuller, whose £375 million wealth earned him fifth place on the list.
Other musicians who made the list were Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, with a £495 million fortune, and Sting with £180 million.
Even though Simon – who is engaged to make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy – can claim to be one of Britain’s richest men he admitted he still enjoys playing the National Lottery, but would never tell anyone if he scooped a million pound jackpot.
He said: “I still buy lottery tickets. I still play. But I tick the box that says no publicity so no one would know.”
However, despite his vast wealth, Simon has recently admitted he often gets in “dark moods for no reason” and has often considered going to see a psychiatrist to deal with “a number of issues” he has.
He explained: “If I ever decided to go to a psychiatrist, it would be a long session. I have always thought that I do have a number of issues that probably need dealing with, because I am quite odd in some ways.
“I get very dark moods for no reason. I just sit on my own for days.”
Top 10 music millionaires:
1. Clive Calder – £1.3 billion
2. Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber – £680 million
3. Cameron Mackintosh – £675 million
4. Sir Paul McCartney – £495 million
5. Simon Fuller – £375 million
6. Simon Cowell – £200 million
7. Sir Elton John – £195 million
8. Sir Mick Jagger – £190 million
9. Sting – £180 million

Michael Jackson’s Mom: Here’s Your MJ Song!
Michael Jackson’s mother has decided to let the world listen to a brand new unreleased MJ song — and, taking a shot at Sony, one she claims is 100% authentic.
The song — “Opis None” — was pulled from the archives of JacksonSecretVault.com … a company in which Katherine Jackson is a partner. The company owns nearly 300 unreleased MJ tracks … along with never-before-seen video and memorabilia.
Howard Mann, Katherine’s partner in the company, tells TMZ, “In an effort to overcome the confusion as to the authenticity of the track the estate has recently released we want to give an actual authentic Michael Jackson track to the world … for free.”
Sony released a teaser of an upcoming MJ album, which various experts have authenticated as the real deal.

How Paul McCartney Helped Jack White…?
by Lisa on Oct.31, 2010, under Award, Band, Entertainment, Music, Singer
Sir Paul McCartney helped Jack White get over his nerves before playing in front of Barack Obama
The ex-Beatles singer and songwriter who was at the White House to collect the US Library of Congress’s Gershwin Prize for Popular song earlier this year decided to sit in on rehearsals before the White Stripes star performed ‘Mother Nature’s Son’ for both him and the US president.
Paul, 68, explained: “There was a rehearsal first of all in the afternoon, and I came in and Jack’s standing there, and I could see he was nervous, so I thought actually it would be good for them to have a rehearsal with me sat there.
“Get over the nerves, because it’s going to be worse he’s going to be sitting there and Michele and the kids and then all the crowd. But I thought Jack’s performance was great, very sensitive.”
Paul played his track ‘Got to Get You Into My Life’ at the same concert, while Stevie Wonder†gave his rendition of Paul’s ‘We Can Work it Out’ and Elvis Costello played ‘Penny Lane’.

The Chemical Brothers & Noel Gallagher
by Lisa on Oct.30, 2010, under Artist, Band, Entertainment, Music
The Chemical Brothers want to collaborate with Noel Gallagher on his solo album
The dance duo have worked with the rock star on two tracks – ‘Setting Sun’ and ‘Let Forever Be’ - and have also remixed songs for Oasis and insist they are ready to help him now he has left the band.
Tom Rowlands said: “It’s up to Noel, we won’t force ourselves upon him. But, obviously, we’d be up for it if we got the call, he’s a great musician. It would be churlish not to see what the man had to say and what his ideas were.”
The ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ hitmakers have also moved away from their electro roots to work on a film score for Joe Wright’s new movie.
Tom admits it was great to be asked to contribute to the film – which is believed to be ‘Indian Summer’, which is based on the book ‘Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire’ by Alex von Tunzelmann – because it’s a new challenge for him and bandmate Ed Simons.
Tom added to BANG Showbiz: “We’re working on some music for Joe Wright’s new film as well. He’s got a movie coming out next year and we’re working on the score for that. The music is going to be contemporary and it’s heavy, it’s brilliant. It’s something different and exciting that we’ve been offered. It’s fun to be able to do something that’s completely different. When we work together to make music to play live or DJ with there’s a different mindset to when a director says I’ve got this scene and I’m trying to communicate these feelings. It’s interesting it makes music varied and fun.”
The Chemical Brothers have also written and produced some music for Darren Aronofsky’s new film ‘Black Swan’, which stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as ballet dancers in a New York production of ‘Swan Lake’.

Lea Michele — Fewer Colos On ‘Glee’
by Kavy on Oct.24, 2010, under Actress, Artist, Music, Singer, TV
Lea Michele is reportedly upset she is being given fewer solos on ‘Glee’
The 24-year-old actress – who plays uptight singer Rachel Berry in the musical TV show – is angry the second series has focused less on her and more on other characters.
A source said: “In the beginning, she was the biggest star. But some of the biggest episodes have taken attention away from her, like the Britney Spears show, which was all about Heather Morris (Brittany).
“She thinks that because she has a Broadway background, this show was made for her.”
Lea has allegedly been critical about some of the efforts of her co-stars – which include Amber Riley, Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron -leading to friction on set.
The source added to Britain’s Star magazine: “It’s not easy being around Lea on set. She has put several people’s backs up and it’s showing no sign of improving.”
Lea has previously admitted working on ‘Glee’ helped boost her self-confidence about her looks.
She said: “‘Glee’ has made me feel beautiful. It has shown me that I am beautiful, that I can be beautiful no matter what I look like, what my weight is.”

Lady Gaga’s “sacrifice”…?
by Kavy on Jul.05, 2010, under Artist, Love, Music, Singer
Lady Gaga will always “sacrifice” love for her music career.
The ‘Poker Face’ singer – who is currently single – admits she has been forced to put her love life aside to be a successful pop star and is too “weak” to make romances work.
She said: “My greatest sacrifice is love. I’ve only ever been in love once, and I had to walk away because I had to put my career first. He wanted me to stay at home and be with him; I wanted to be out there trying to make it on stage. It was a huge lesson for me, but it’s also a source of sadness. God gave me a gift with music, but if you have gifts you also have weaknesses. My weakness is not being able to make relationships work.”
The 24-year-old star has been on numerous dates over the years, but has decided to choose music instead because it won’t ever break her heart.
She added to Live magazine: ”There’s something in me that stops me ever putting a relationship before my work. I guess I always think my music is never going to roll over in bed one morning and tell me that it doesn’t love me any more. I have to believe the music is worth the sacrifice.”

Did Led Zeppelin Rip Off a Folk Singer?
Led Zeppelin must have been a little “Dazed and Confused” when it recorded the classic by the same name 41 years ago — because it sounds just like a folk song — so says the folk singer who’s now suing Zep’s guitarist, Jimmy Page.
According to the Federal lawsuit obtained by TMZ, folk singer Jake Holmes says he snagged a copyright for “Dazed and Confused” in 1967, two years before Zeppelin recorded its version that sounds suspiciously similar.
Could it be — Zep ripped off a folk singer? Listen to the 1967 recording.

Daniel Radcliffe On Justin Bieber & Music
by cyan on Jun.23, 2010, under Actor, Music
The ‘Harry Potter’ actor has been so busy working he has failed to keep up with the current music scene and has now given up trying to know what is popular.
He said: “I’m so out of the loop when it comes to pop culture that I kind of don’t even try anymore. Only heard Justin Bieber for the first time two weeks ago. I genuinely thought it was a woman singing. I’d never heard it before.”
While the 21-year-old star admits to being clueless about current music, he could soon be a chart rival to Justin after admitting he has been having singing lessons and honing his vocal talents by singing in karaoke bars with his ‘Harry Potter’ co-stars.
He told MTV News: “I love karaoke. I am one of those people [who says], ‘No, no, I can’t, I couldn’t possibly, no I won’t… all right, give me the mic!’ And then I’m elbowing other people out of the way to get to the stage.”
Speaking about a recent karaoke night, he added: “I sang Elvis Presley’s ‘Hound Dog.’ That, and then I did ‘Feeling Good’ by Muse. That was my proudest moment, because I actually did that rather well. I was really pleased, because I can sing.
“I’ve been having singing lessons for two and a half years. I’m not amazing, obviously, but I’m all right.”

David Beckham’s 3 Sons — In The Jonas Brothers Video
by Abbey on May.19, 2010, under Artist, Band, Music, Singer
The Jonas Brothers have invited David Beckham’s three sons to appear in their new video.
Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz met the squeaky clean pop stars at a concert in Los Angeles last Saturday (15.05.10) after the boys watched their live show from a balcony with parents David and Victoria.
A source said: “Kevin, Joe and Nick were really pleased to meet the Beckhams and they invited the children to be part of their new video.”
The trio will be filming the clip for the latest single next week in Malibu, and the offer thrilled Cruz and Romeo – though 11-year-old Brooklyn was less impressed.
The sources added to The Sun newspaper: “The younger ones were really excited about it but Brooklyn decided to play it a bit cooler.”
The Jonas Brothers would certainly be a positive influence on the growing Beckham boys – the band famously vowed they would remain virgins until they were married.
David and Victoria are very protective of their boys and have deliberately kept them out of the limelight as much as possible, so it is not yet known if they will let Cruz, five, Romeo, seven, and Brooklyn to appear in the promo.
The Christian band have sold more than eight million albums since they found fame in 2005.
