Jesse James and Kat Von D have split up – again.

The couple – who separated in July before reuniting a month later – have called off their engagement, the tattoo artist has revealed.

Kat wrote on her Facebook page: “I am not in a relationship. And I apologise for all the ‘back and forth’ if it’s caused any confusion.” Kat says she split from Jesse – who was previously married to Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock – because they were on “different paths in life”, but she insists she has no hard feelings toward the motorcycle entrepreneur.

She told People: “It was clear to me that we were just on two different paths in life. My friend put it best when he said I could never be more deserving of total, noble love. And as a woman, I think it’s important to know your value and never lose sight of that.

“I wish Jesse nothing but the best in life and in love.”

Jesse is currently based in Austin, Texas, and it seems that may have been a factor in the couple’s split.

Kat wrote on Facebook: “I am not in any way moving to Texas. And I am not leaving my shop here in Los Angeles, High Voltage Tattoo.”

R.E.M. have split up

The legendary ‘Man on the Moon’ rockers have announced they are to part ways after 31 years and 15 albums together. A statement on their website reads: “To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band.

“We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.”

Each member of the group – singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck and bassist Mike Mills – also wrote their individual feelings about the end of the band.

Michael wrote: “A wise man once said – ‘the skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave.’ We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we’re going to walk away from it (sic). Mike added he felt that the bands last album, ‘Collapse Into Now’ – released in March – drew a “natural line” under their work and said the break up has not been caused by any hard feelings between the members.

He said: “There’s no disharmony here, no falling-outs, no lawyers squaring-off. We’ve made this decision together, amicably and with each other’s best interests at heart. The time just feels right.” Drummer Bill Berry – who left the band in 1997 and was not replaced – has yet to comment.

Formed in 1980, R.E.M. were pioneers of the underground indie music scene in the U.S., building a strong fan base, particularly among college students, through constant touring. Although their albums were critically acclaimed, their first mainstream hit didn’t come until 1987 with ‘The One I Love’.

The band signed with major label Warner Brothers in 1988 and hit their commercial peak in the early 90s with their albums ‘Out of Time’ – which spawned the singles ‘Losing My Religion’ and ‘Shiny Happy People’ and ‘Automatic for the People’.

The band continued to have huge success and produce a prolific number of albums through the 90s, and while their experimentation with their musical style was less commercially successful in the last decade, they were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 and continued to be held in high regard by both fans and critics.

Robert Pattinson is recording an album

The ‘Twilight’ actor originally considered becoming a musician and is making the most of a break in his schedule by heading to the studio to record his first full-length record.

A source told UsWeekly.com: “Music is his first love! He’s tortured because he avoids it. When he’s sitting around jamming in the studio, it’s his favourite moment of life.”

Another friend added: “Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn’t allow it. “Now he’s got some weeks to get everything in line before going back to promoting ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’.”

The 25-year-old actor previously recorded two tracks, ‘Never Think’ and ‘Let Me Sign’ for the original ‘Twilight’ soundtrack. Sources say the sound of the album will be “organic” and use traditional instruments. The friend added: “The album Rob will make will be guitar based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop. Like stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison.”

Robert’s ‘Twilight’ co-star, Jackson Rathbone, has previously praised his ability as a guitarist. He told how Robert “loves to play the blues. He can hold his own on a guitar. We enjoyed jamming together when we had the time. Very humble and quiet guy.” Robert has also said he loves playing piano, and as a child hoped he could make a living from it.

He said: “I love the piano. I never really had any aspirations to be an actor when I was young. I wanted to play the piano in a bar, to be the old dude with a whiskey glass.”

Brad Pitt is “amazed” to star in baseball film ‘Moneyball’ because he knows so little about the sport

The 47-year-old actor plays former Major League player and Oakland Athletics manager Billy Bean in the film but admitted in real life he chose wrestling and diving over baseball at high school.

He told Sports Illustrated magazine: “It’s shameful how little I know about baseball. I’m amazed they let me do this movie. “Baseball and I didn’t get along that well. I wrestled one year in high school. I dived one year. Everything but baseball.”

However, he was attracted to the role because it is based around his home state and gave him a chance to tell a good underdog story. He added: “I’m an Oklahoma-Missouri boy, so I’m no stranger to a bit of dip. So really, I was just revisiting my roots. I’m a sucker for the underdog story.”

Brad feels the film is unconventional by today’s Hollywood standards, and instead compares it to 70s movies ‘The French Connection’, ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ and ‘All the President’s Men’. He said: “What we were trying to do is tell an unconventional story in the Trojan horse of a conventional baseball movie.

“In scripts today, someone has a big epiphany, learns a lesson, then comes out the other side different. “In these older films I’m talking about, the beast at the end of the movie was the same beast in the beginning of the movie. “What changed was the world around them, by just a couple of degrees.”

The former ‘Baywatch’ beauty has two boys, Brandon, 15, and 13-year-old Dylan, with ex-husband Tommy Lee and admits being a single mother limits the type of man she can go out with.

She said: “My sons influence who I date but maybe as they get older my attitude towards men may change. It’s just when you’re a single mum, unfortunately I think we date for our kids. You think, ‘Who are my kids going to want to hang out with?’ Rather than who you want.”

The 44-year-old star – who has also been married to Kid Rock and Rick Salomon – says she’s single at the moment but is confident she will eventually meet the right man.

Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge will not undertake solo royal duties until at least 2012

Duchess Kate – who wed Prince William in April this year – will not fulfil any solo engagements until at least next year as she adjusts to life within the royal family.

She will instead support her husband as he continues his training as a Royal Air Force search and rescue helicopter pilot in Anglesey, Wales. One aide said in the past people who marrying into the royal family have waited up to three years before taking on solo royal duties.

One senior courtier told the Daily Express newspaper: “I don’t think it’s going to be as long as that but I am just trying to put things in context. “Historically, women joining the Royal Family do not begin undertaking solo engagements until around two years after their marriage.”

Kate has already undertook official royal business alongside her husband, including her first official overseas visit, a trip to Canada shortly after their wedding.

She will also attend certain public occasions with William, such as appearing at the Cenotaph for the first time on Remembrance Sunday, on November 11. William and Kate are, however, set to spend less time in the public eye over the next year as they step back to allow the focus to be on Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, marking 60 years of her reign.

Ashton Kutcher is not “replacing” Charlie Sheen on ‘Two and a Half Men’

The ‘No Strings Attached’ star took over the leading role in the comedy series following Charlie’s public meltdown and spat with the show’s creator Chuck Lorre, and he admits he has been “lucky” to get the job and hopes he can do as “incredible” a job as the troubled actor.

He said: “I feel like the luckiest guy in the world. It’s always sort of nice to jump on something that’s already moving and successful and people have an appetite for it. It just seemed like the best job in the world.

“Here’s the thing. Charlie was incredible on that show and I can’t, there’s no way I’m going to replace Charlie Sheen. I’m not playing his character. But it’s the same people that have been making people laugh the last eight years are going to keep making people laugh.”

However, the 33-year-old hunk – who is married to actress Demi Moore – admits he was nervous about taking on the role as it meant leaving his film career behind for some time.

Speaking on CBS’ ‘The Early Show’, Ashton said: “I had apprehensions for several reasons. I have a relatively successful film career and I
knew it would shut down that for a minute. “I had a little apprehension about that because, when you have a good thing going, you don’t want to put the pause button in it.”

Justin Timberlake doesn’t need love to be romantic

The singer-and-actor – who recently rekindled his relationship with actress Jessica Biel – loves studying old movies and believes outstanding performances have their own sense of romance.

He said: “To me, romance is not just about love. I recently saw ‘Lust, Caution’, and it’s tragic and romantic. I don’t know how they shot those sex scenes. Those scenes looked crazy. In general, movies as a form are romantic to me. One of my favourite performances is Donald O’Connor doing ‘Make ‘Em Laugh’ in ‘Singin’ in the Rain’. To me, the performance of song and dance with humour and props is a lost art. His performance is masterful and subtle – romantic in a different way.”

Justin, 30, shot to fame as a member of the ‘All-New Mickey Mouse Club’ in 1993 before going on to be a part of NSYNC but he insists he doesn’t mind the fact the “weird stages” of his teenage years were lived out in public – though he regrets some of his outfits.

He added in an interview with W magazine: “It’s different now, but in the past I’ve had some accidents, for sure. I think I have to laugh about the fact that I grew up in public. All these weird stages in my teenage years are documented. Why did no one tell me how terrible some of those outfits were?”

The ‘Baby’ hitmaker – who has been dating singer and actress Selena Gomez since earlier this year – admitted he opts for girls’ clothing because it tends to fit him better than pieces designed for men.

He said: “I’ve worn women’s jeans before because they fit me. It’s not a trend; it’s just, whatever works, works.”

However, the 17-year-old hitmaker doesn’t look set to be borrowing anything from Selena’s wardrobe in the near future, as he admitted while the relationship is going “pretty well” the couple won’t be getting married “any time soon”.

Asked if nuptials are on the horizon, Justin told Life and Style magazine: “I don’t know. I feel like if it happens, it happens. Right now I’m just focusing on my music, and I feel like it’s going pretty well.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Johnny likes his privacy and wanted to watch the ceremony in peace. He had all his home comforts surrounding him and just sat back and took it all in.

While receiving the gong, Keith revealed his autobiography is set to be turned into a movie and he admitted the biggest problem facing filmmakers could be finding a suitable actor to portray him.

He said: “There are feelers out at the minute [but] I’m in no rush right at the moment. Also, how are they going to find me? The idea of a succession of Keith Richards coming down is horrifying.”

Madonna likes “creative” men

The 53-year-old singer has confessed she was attracted to her ex-husbands Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie because they were interesting and talented and admits both encouraged her to pursue her personal acting and directing dreams.

Speaking at a press conference following the screening of her new movie ‘W.E.’ – which Madonna directed – at the Venice Film Festival, she said: “I am and was attracted to very creative people which is why I married Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie, very talented directors, and they both encouraged me as a director to do what I did. They were both very supportive.”

Although this is only the second movie the pop superstar has directed, she has appeared in a number of films – including ‘Dick Tracy’, ‘Body of Evidence’ and ‘Evita’, which earned her a Golden Globe Award – and admits movies inspired her to become an artist when she was a child.

She revealed: “I’ve always loved film, all my life. As a child I was always inspired by movies and I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to make one … Making films is really hard in the first place. You have to believe in your subject matter and be passionate about it because there will be challenges along the way. You have to be prepared like the captain of a ship, no matter what happens you have got to keep going. So your spiritual foundation has to be strong.”

‘W.E.’ focuses on the relationship between Britain’s King Edward VIII’s and American divorcee Wallis Simpson and his decision to abdicate the British throne in 1936 to marry her.

Robert Downey Jr’s wife Susan Levin is pregnant

The couple – who have been married for six years – are set to welcome the new addition to their family in February, 37-year-old Susan’s aunt has revealed.

Nancy Miller told America’s Star magazine: “I think it’s wonderful that she’s pregnant.

“The baby is due in February. Susan’s father, my brother, called me about three weeks ago with the good news. Her parents are over the moon about it.

“It [doesn’t] really matter if it’s a boy or a girl. What really matters is that the baby is healthy.”

While the baby will be film producer Susan’s first, Robert, 46, already has an 18-year-old son Indio from his first marriage to actress-and-singer Deborah Falconer.

Robert – who has battled drug addiction in the past – has previously credited Susan with providing him with a more stable relationship than he had with first wife although he admitted he is constantly surprised by how much work it takes to make a marriage successful.

He said: “Susan is cut from a slightly different cloth from Deb and I, and she’s provided a great new framework for lots of things.

“Susan doesn’t care if this building fell down and we never did another movie again so long as we were happy and loving and together, but so long as it hasn’t, she’s operating on the fact there’s a lot of s**t to get done.

“She is a master at it – I wouldn’t be surprised if she built the pyramids.

“Do we have to work at the relationship? More than I thought. And usually more than I would care to.

“But ultimately, it’s nice to have pure communication with, for me, a woman. Historically this is not something that, for me, was not really achievable.”

Daryl Hannah was arrested outside the White House today (30.08.11) during an environmental protest

The ‘Kill Bill’ star was handcuffed and led away by police after joining a sit-down protest on the sidewalk outside President Barack Obama’s official residence in Washington DC against the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

The 50-year-old actress was taken into custody – along with around 100 other protesters – after refusing to move on when ordered to do so by the US Park Police.

Before she was arrested, Hannah said: “Sometimes it’s necessary to sacrifice your freedom for a greater freedom, and we want to be free from the horrible death and destruction that fossil fuels cause, and have a clean energy future.”

The proposed pipeline will run from the Canadian tar sands in Alberta to oil refineries on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico but the plan has yet to be granted approval by the White House.

This isn’t the first time Daryl has been arrested.

In 2009, she was detained by police after taking part in a protest against mountaintop coalmining – a practice which sees the tops of mountains blown away to help miners get at deposits inside – which resulted in a West Virginia road being blocked.

Daryl – who is a long-term environmental activist – and 30 other people blocked traffic by sitting on a stretch of road outside a Massey Energy Company plant, prompting police to intervene.

The 48-year-old actress admits she is a sucker for loving gestures and is always thrilled when her 33-year-old spouse leaves her a note professing his feelings for her at their house or tells her how much she means to him.

In a joint interview with Jennifer Aniston and Alicia Keys for Glamour magazine, she said: “I get giddy when Ashton shows me another way of saying ‘I love you’ – any little thought or gesture that’s playful or sweet. We leave Post-it notes for each other; some have been sticking up for five or six years! For me, it’s the small things.”

‘You Don’t Know My Name’ singer Alicia insists the most important thing for her and her husband Swizz Beatz’s relationship is that they continue to “grow together” as a couple.

Cheryl Cole is reportedly moving into will.i.am’s Hollywood home

The Girls Aloud singer – who has not been seen in public following revelations her ex-husband Ashley Cole bedded a string of women days before they were thought to have reconciled – is set to reside with her manager when she is in America because she is “sick” of staying in Los Angeles hotel rooms.

A source close to the ‘Parachute’ hitmaker told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl is sick to death of staying in hotels when she’s in LA.

“She’s seen some great houses. But she is worried about being lonely when her mum and brother Garry aren’t around. Will suggested she move in with him while she gets settled and has even said she is welcome for all of her stay.”

Will’s home contains a recording studio, which will enable the 28-year-old stunner to sample some songs with the Black Eyed Peas singer.

A source added: “By staying at Will’s she’ll be able to play around with tracks with him. Cheryl was hesitant at first but then realised it made perfect sense.”

Will and Cheryl recently spent some quality time on holiday in the south of France – and the 36-year-old uploaded a picture of himself and the brunette beauty – whose maiden name is Tweedy – to his twitter account.

Megan Fox is removing her Marilyn Monroe tattoo because it has “negative energy”

The 25-year-old actress has san inking of the late screen icon’s face etched on the inside of her right arm but she is in the process of having it lasered off because she no longer wants an association to Marilyn – who died in August 1962 aged 36 from a suspected drugs overdose.

She told Italian magazine Amica: “I’m removing it. It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar. I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life.”

The tattoo of the ‘Some Like It Hot’ star is not the first change to her body that Megan has been left unhappy with.

The ‘Jonah Hex’ star – who is married to actor Brian Austin Green – also got rid of a belly-button piercing when she was 20.

She said: “I did it when I was 16 because I was a fan of Britney Spears. The only time I tried to imitate someone else.

“But then I thought it was tacky and so I removed it when I turned 20.”

Megan has at least eight other tattoos, including a quote on her shoulder which reads “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies” and a tribute to her ‘Passion Play’ co-star Mickey Rourke on her right rib cage which states “Those who danced were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”

Revealing the meaning behind her Marilyn tattoo, Megan previously said: “I really admire Marilyn Monroe, but I would never try to emulate her. I got the tattoo as a warning. It warns me not to let myself be treated so badly by the film industry so that it breaks me down.”

Kate Winslet had to flee Sir Richard Branson’s Caribbean home after a fire broke out at the property

The ‘Titanic’ actress, her boyfriend Louis Dowler, and her two children – Mia, 10, and seven-year-old Joe – were among the 20 guests staying at the British businessman’s house on his privately-owned Necker Island when the blaze broke out in the early hours of today (22.08.11) during a tropical storm.

Thanks to Richard’s 25-year-old son Sam helped to evacuate all guests and nobody was hurt, although the eight-bedroom Great House on Necker was “completely destroyed”.

Richard – who was not staying at the house at the time but was in a property 100 yards away with Sam, his wife, 90-year-old mother and 29-year-old daughter Holly – said: “Around 20 people were in the house and they all managed to get out and they are all fine.

“The main house is completely destroyed and the fire is not yet completely out. My office was based in the house and I have lost thousands of photographs which is very sad.”

“We had a really bad tropical storm with winds up to 90mph. A big lightning storm came around 4am and hit the house. My son Sam rushed to the house and helped get everyone out. Kate Winslet, her boyfriend and her family were there and Holly and some of her friends were also staying. My mother was there and they managed to get her out and she is fine.”

Cheryl Cole wanted to become a “big sister” to Britney Spears

The ‘Fight For this Love’ singer thought she could help Britney – who suffered a public meltdown, culminating with her shaving her head in 2007 – become “normal” again, according to her ex-minder Craig Balkam.

A friend told how Craig had said: “She used to talk about Britney Spears. She kept saying she wanted to help Britney – that she thought she could become like a big sister to her and make her normal again after all her crazy behaviour.” Cheryl, 28, was not as big a fan of eccentric star Lady Gaga, however, because of her provocative stage antics.

The source added to the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “She had a thing about Lady Gaga too. She loves Lady Gaga’s music but disapproved of her stage show. She’s quite shy and not that comfortable with overly sexual behaviour. She’s very proper and ladylike.” Cheryl’s had attempted to establish herself as a star in the US, but it backfired when she was sacked from the judging panel of talent show.

‘The X Factor’ after only four days of filming earlier this year. She has since returned to the UK, where she has kept a low profile and reportedly reunited with her ex-husband, Ashley Cole. Cheryl had confided in Craig that she had long felt like a “prisoner” and longed to turn her back on life in the public eye.

The source added: “Cheryl kept saying she wanted to get out of showbusiness. She said she had enough of being a prisoner in her hotel room – that was a phrase she used a lot. “She said wanted to be a normal person again. But at the same time she was very keen to crack it in America – as though she was torn between the two.”
