Reese Witherspoon’s new husband Jim Toth thinks her life is “bizarre”

The ‘Water for Elephants’ actress – who married the Hollywood agent in a small ceremony in March – thinks Jim is shocked at suddenly being the centre of attention having always been behind the camera and working with talent out of the public glare previously.

She said: “He thinks it’s totally bizarre. I think you have an instinct when you’re with the person you want to build a life with. You learn more as you get older about what you need in a partner.”

However the blonde beauty – who has children Ava, 11 and Deacon, eight, from her previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe – thinks it is helpful to be in a relationship with someone who understands the pressures of fame.

Asked if it is easier to be with someone who is not an actor, she responds: “I wouldn’t say it’s easier; every relationship has its own dynamic. But it helps that he understands what I do for a living.”

Despite her high-pressure job in the public eye, Reese believes being a parent is the toughest job she has.

She told You magazine: “Being a parent is the hardest thing on earth. It breaks your heart when your children are unhappy and you feel incredible joy when they are happy.”

Nicole Scherzinger has been confirmed as the host of the US version of ‘The X Factor’

The 32-year-old singer will work on the show alongside Welsh presenter Steve Jones, music boss Simon Cowell has revealed, and he says the pair will be a “great” combination.

He added: “These two are going to be great together. I have always wanted Steve to work with us; I think he is a real star.

“Nicole is fantastic. I loved working with her on the UK ‘X Factor’ last year. She is gorgeous and super-talented.”

The ‘Poison’ hitmaker – who worked on the UK show as a temporary judge during the audition phase – is “thrilled” at the development and “excited” to be working with newcomer Steve.

She added: “I am thrilled to be asked by Simon Cowell to host ‘The X Factor’. I loved working alongside Simon on the UK show and cannot wait to see what he has in store for the US. I’m so excited to work with Steve Jones and help discover astounding talent from across the country.”

So far Simon has confirmed singer Cheryl Cole and record producer L.A. Reid will join him on the show as judges, and Paula Abdul is expected to be confirmed as the fourth when auditions begin later today (08.05.11).

Robert Pattinson wishes he only worked one day a week

The ‘Water for Elephants’ actor loved his early career when he had more time to relax and indulge in his favourite leisurely pursuits.

He said: “My ideal job would be one day a week. When I first started acting, I’d get one job a year that lasted three months and then I’d do nothing the rest of the time but I’d have enough money to survive.

“I’d read the papers every day, get in a lot of DVDs. That was great. I’ve got simple tastes.”

Robert also admitted he hates having to work out and does as little as possible if it isn’t necessary for a role.

Speaking of his preparations for shirtless scenes, he explained to Britain’s Elle magazine: “I’ll be going to the gym for four hours a day. I don’t eat at all except for protein shakes.

“But I don’t understand how you could maintain that all your life. After the scene’s done, I don’t work out again. It’s a ridiculous idea that you’re not a proper actor if you don’t have a six-pack.”

Jennifer Lopez will “need an eyelift” when ‘American Idol’ is over

The 41-year-old star – who joins Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson on the judging panel of the talent search show – reportedly told friends she spends hours in tears after having to send home hopefuls, and is going to require surgery once the series comes to an end.

She is quoted by National Enquirer magazine as saying: “I’m going to need an eye lift when this show is over. All I do is cry all the time.”

The singer-and-actress recently admitted the numerous years she has spent in the music business allow her to understand the predicament of the performers in the auditions.

Jennifer explained: “I love it. Honestly, with all the experience I’ve had over the years, it’s like, what do you do with it? Steven, he’s been on the scene for 40 years touring. You have so much information, you have so much experience and so many little titbits you don’t even realise you have in your mind.

Penelope Cruz “screamed” when she was offered a role in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’

The Spanish actress had previously worked with the movie’s star Johnny Depp on ‘Blow’ and director Rob Marshall on ‘Nine’ and was overjoyed to be given the chance to team with the pair again.

She said: “Rob and I were eating together and he turned to me and said, ‘I have this question to ask you but I don’t know if I’m brave enough to ask as you may say ‘No’.

“‘Well Rob, you have to ask me,’ I said. And he turned and asked, ‘Would you like to do ‘Pirates’ with me and Johnny?’ I heard this and screamed. A very good scream.

She explained to GQ magazine: “When I started, when I was 16 or 17, I never even considered not doing a project. I just wanted to work. I knew who some of those I would work with would be pleasant, and others would be these huge assholes.

“But now, if there’s one thing I can afford to do, having worked so hard for all of these years, it’s that if I go into a meeting with someone that is offering me a movie and I can clearly see they are going to be an asshole, I will not do the movie. No matter what it is.”

David Beckham in Car Accident on LA Freeway

David Beckham was involved in a car accident on one of the busiest freeways in all of Los Angeles … and the driver of the other car had to be taken to a local hospital … TMZ has learned.

According to law enforcement sources, Beckham was driving on the 405 Freeway near Torrance, CA yesterday morning … when he rear-ended a gold Mitsubishi that was broken down in the carpool lane.

We’re told the driver of the Mistubishi had to be taken to the hospital, but Beckham did not require medical attention.

Law enforcement sources tell us Beckham was not arrested or cited on the scene.

A call to Beckham’s rep was not returned.

Robert Pattinson “freaked out” when he was about to buy a house

The 24-year-old British actor – who is dating his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-star Kristen Stewart – mostly lives in hotels, and though he has a desire to settle down in one place, he thinks his work means it is not the right time to do so just yet.

He said: “I came close to buying a house in Los Angeles but 20 minutes from signing the contract I freaked out.

“So I don’t own a house or have a home. It can drive you a bit crazy not having any kind of anchor. Hopefully it will settle down some time soon but for the next few years I’m going to be filming all over the place.”

In order to feel more stable, Robert adopted Bear, a German shepherd-pitbull crossbreed puppy.

He explained to Britain’s Elle magazine: “I thought I would get a dog. Then wherever the dog was would kind of be my home.

“Bear was two days from euthanasia. We thought he was traumatised by his near-death experience.”

The ‘Water for Elephants’ star admits one of the benefits of his success is being able to care for his pet properly.

Asked about his biggest extravagance, he said: “It sounds ridiculous but my dog was sick with a puppy disease called parvo and it was such a relief being able to go into the vet and say, ‘I want the best, immediately.’ “

Taylor Swift is letting fans watch her rehearse to raise money for US tornado victims

The ‘Romeo and Juliet’ singer is selling tickets to the impromptu ‘Speak Now…Help Now!’ benefit on May 21 which will allow 13,000 fans to get a sneak preview of her forthcoming US tour before it kicks off.

She said in a statement: “I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage.

“I’ve never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now Tour would be a great way to raise money.”

Taylor has pledged all proceeds from the event – held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee – will be donated to relief funds for victims of a spate of tornadoes which have recently devastated parts of the Southeast US.

The ‘Better Than Revenge’ singer has done extensive work to help disaster relief efforts around the world, including supporting earthquake relief in Japan and New Zealand and flood relief in Australia within the last six months. The North American leg of Taylor’s Speak Now World Tour kicks off May 27 in Nebraska.

Robert Pattinson joked he would have upstaged Britain’s Royal wedding if he was invited

The ‘Twilight’ star felt if he had been in London when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge married last Friday (29.04.11), the screaming public watching them wed at London’s Westminster Abbey would have been even more hysterical.

The young actor – who regularly complains of being mobbed by hordes of teenage fans – joked: “No I didn’t get an invite, I was very disappointed.

“At the same time it would have been totally crazy if I had been invited – It would have been ridiculous.”

Robert has previously admitted he used to pretend to know the royal couple when he first went to Los Angeles in order to impress people.
He said: “I don’t think I’ve ever met them. I used to tell people when I came to the States that I did. They believed me!”

The 24-year-old actor also appears alongside Reese Witherspoon in new film ‘Water For Elephants’, where he plays a circus vet, and he rubbished the old saying that you should never work with animals.

Robert explained to British radio station Magic 105.4: “It’s easy to work with animals! Everything is fresh all the time, whenever there is a wild animal in the room it keeps it exciting. “Some things were incredibly dangerous! The 51-year-old rocker has revealed he and his personal assistant, 31-year-old Alicia Grimaldi, welcomed a baby girl, Mirabella Bunny Grimaldi Adams, on April 22.

He said: “I’m really proud to announce on 22 April, Mirabella Bunny was born. Mother and baby are both well and happy. Thanks in advance for your kind thoughts and wishes.

“She arrived like all good Easter bunnies on Easter Friday.”

A friend told the Daily Mail newspaper: “Bryan and Alicia are absolutely thrilled. And Bryan couldn’t be happier. I have no doubt he will make an absolutely wonderful father.”

Friends of Alicia – who is believed to be living with the singer-and-photographer in London – were said to be shocked when Bryan announced the pregnancy in March as many people had no idea they were even dating.

One insider said: “Many of their friends still don’t even know that they are a couple, but they are living together at his house.”

Alicia is a charity activist and one of the trustees of the Bryan Adams Foundation, a charity registered in the UK.

According to the foundation’s website, she graduated from the prestigious Cambridge University in 2001 with a degree in social and political sciences.

Robert Pattinson thinks appearing in a stage show would be “exhausting” – because of the expectations of his fans

The 24-year-old actor would love to star in a theatre production in London’s West End, but is worried his ‘Twilight’ fans would come to the shows expecting him to be just like his vampire character Edward Cullen.

Robert said: “I’d really, really love to do a play in London but I’d just be afraid it would turn into an ‘N Sync concert. Or people would come along expecting it to be like ‘Twilight’.

“From the little amount of theatre I’ve done, I know that usually you can feel a push from the audience, who have come along wanting the show to succeed. But when I go to premieres, it’s more like the crowd is pulling, really wanting something from you. I always feel completely drained afterwards. It would be very strange and exhausting to have that kind of experience every night on stage.”

The screen heartthrob has also wanted to pursue a music career as well as continuing acting, but he admits recently he has lost his creative spark for writing songs.

Robert – who plays guitar and piano and provided vocals on two songs on the ‘Twilight’ soundtrack, ‘Never Think’ and ‘Let Me Sign’ – used to pen lyrics when he was “incredibly depressed”, but now he never feels that low.

He told Britain’s Elle magazine: “I have to be incredibly depressed to write songs and I’m not.

“What makes me want to write songs is when I wake up crying. I would have no idea why I was crying but it made me sad for myself.”

Robert Pattinson became an actor for “the pretty girls”

The screen heartthrob – who has been dating actress Kristen Stewart since meeting her on the ‘Twilight’ set – admits his initial interest in drama was fuelled by the possibility of meeting women as well as a love of the art form.

He said: “I suppose it was a variety of things … the pretty girls? There was a theatre around the corner from my house. I guess it was something I always wanted to do, but I thought it was pretty pretentious; I didn’t mind the kids that were acting at school but I wanted to do it secretly outside the school.

“I just liked the environment; I worked backstage for about three years and just watched everything and then I did a couple of plays and I got an agent from one of the plays, totally randomly.”

The 24-year-old actor can currently be seen starring opposite Reese Witherspoon in new romantic movie ‘Water For Elephants’ and he has admitted his favourite thing about the shoot was working with all the animals on set.

Robert – who plays a vet, Jacob Jankowski, who falls in love with Reese’s character, circus performer Marlena Rosenbluth, in the movie – told The Independent newspaper: “In a lot of ways, I prefer working with animals and kids more than grown up actors. If someone else isn’t acting in the scene, it’s easier to not act. It seems like actors become almost competitive which works sometimes, but a lot of times my brain doesn’t want to do that. If I feel like I can’t beat the other actor, I just don’t do anything.”

Katie Couric On the Verge of $20 Million ABC Deal

Katie Couric and ABC television are on the verge of signing a $20 million deal, which would give Katie her own talk show, as well as significant involvement in ABC News — and the big casualty could be “General Hospital.”

Sources connected with ABC tell TMZ — under the deal that is in the final stages — Katie would do specials for ABC News, “20/20,” and do a significant amount of fill-in work — including anchoring.

ABC would also give Katie a 1-hour, 5-day-a-week syndicated talk show, that would begin in September, 2012. Our sources say … one option ABC is considering is giving its affiliates back the hour where “General Hospital” airs to make room for Katie. In other words, ABC would axe the third, longest-running soap in history and the last one standing on ABC.

ABC is also realistic, believing that one of it’s two new 2011 syndicated shows will fail, leaving room for K.C.

We’re told … when the dust settles and ABC’s daytime schedule gets rearranged, Katie would probably land in the 3 PM time slot.

BTW … we’re told Matt Lauer will NOT be part of Katie’s show.

As for the moola, our sources say the entire package for Katie and her partner, Jeff Zucker is a $20 million GUARANTEE for the syndicated show — and that’s just for the the first year. We’re also told Katie will get a “nominal amount” for her work in the news division.

Simon Cowell is reportedly worth £200 million

The 51-year-old music mogul made £35 million last year from his various business interests including his SyCo music label and reality TV shows including ‘The X Factor’ and ‘America’s Got Talent’, leading to his inclusion at number six on the annual Sunday Times Rich List of Britain’s music millionaires, which is due to be published by the newspaper this weekend.

Simon – who owns homes in Beverly Hills, Barbados, Malaga and Dubai – has bypassed music legends including Sir Elton John, Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on the list, but his assets are dwarfed by others including former Zomba Records owner Clive Calder who took the top spot with a £1.3 billion fortune and rival Simon Fuller, whose £375 million wealth earned him fifth place on the list.

Other musicians who made the list were Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, with a £495 million fortune, and Sting with £180 million.

Even though Simon – who is engaged to make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy – can claim to be one of Britain’s richest men he admitted he still enjoys playing the National Lottery, but would never tell anyone if he scooped a million pound jackpot.

He said: “I still buy lottery tickets. I still play. But I tick the box that says no publicity so no one would know.”

However, despite his vast wealth, Simon has recently admitted he often gets in “dark moods for no reason” and has often considered going to see a psychiatrist to deal with “a number of issues” he has.

He explained: “If I ever decided to go to a psychiatrist, it would be a long session. I have always thought that I do have a number of issues that probably need dealing with, because I am quite odd in some ways.

The model-and-actress – who topped Maxim’s Hot 100 list earlier this week – denied Cheryl Cole the top spot for the third year in a row and beat off competition from Katy Perry and Rihanna, who placed second and third respectively in the British publication’s annual poll.

Rosie – who is dating actor Jason Statham – said: “Wow. Thanks for voting guys, I’m so flattered to be FHM’s Sexiest Woman in the World. This is a really exciting year for me and I hope you all enjoy ‘Transformers 3′.”

Robert Pattinson’s first girlfriend was nine years older than him.

The 24-year-old actor – who is in a relationship with his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-star Kristen Stewart – insists starring with older leading ladies in Reese Witherspoon and Uma Thurman in ‘Water for Elephants’ and ‘Bel Ami’ did not bother him as it was so similar to his own life.

He said: “Every girl I went out with in my teens was older than me. My first girlfriend was 26, I was 17.

“Women who were older always seemed more exciting.”

The British hunk admits one of the attractions of dating older women was how much it irritated other people.

He explained: “I used to think I was a bit of a bad-ass when I was younger. I liked that it annoyed people how much younger I was.

“I liked walking into a room with a woman and people looking at us and thinking, ‘They do not look right together.’ ”

Robert Pattinson spends most of his spare time on his own because he has nobody to hang out with

The 24-year-old British actor – who is dating his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-star Kristen Stewart – admits he often has to call people and beg them to let him go out with them because he hardly ever gets invited anywhere due to his hectic career.

He said: “I was thinking the other day that no one ever rings me up or anything.

“No one ever asks me to do anything. When I’m not working, I’m one of those people who calls up their entire phone book to say, ‘Hey, what are you doing? Are you doing anything tonight? Can I go with you?’

“I just hang there (in my hotel room) and get drunk. It’s terrible.”

Robert has made no secret of the fact he is uncomfortable with fame, and has jokingly claimed he would feel safer if he was allowed to carry a gun.

He admitted in an interview with The Sun newspaper: “I want to get really good at fighting because then I can just walk down the street.

“There is something about it. Or just get a gun. I would feel a little bit more comfortable walking around with a Taser.

“But no, I mean, I try to avoid as much hassle as possible.”

The actor – who along with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz met fans at the UK premiere of their new movie ‘Water For Elephants’ at Westfield London shopping centre last night (03.05.11) – also admitted he dreams of entering politics in the future.

He added: “It sounds so ridiculous for me to say I’m curious about politics and might be a politician one day. I’d love to but I wouldn’t want to be held accountable.”

Kendra Wilkinson has become the latest celebrity to be voted off ‘Dancing with the Stars’.

The former Playboy model and her professional partner Louis van Amstel impressed the judges with their tango on Monday night (02.05.11) but failed to win over the viewers so were eliminated from the show last night (03.05.11).

A tearful Kendra said of her time on the show: “I’ve lasted seven weeks – seven weeks longer than I ever thought I would last.”

The 25-year-old beauty said she was looking forward to spending more time with her NFL star husband Hank Baskett and their 17-month-old son, Hank Jr.

She told viewers: “I’m not the best dancer but I am the best mum. I’m back to being a mum.”

While it was Kendra who got kicked off, fellow contestant Kirstie Alley – who scored 30 points from the judges, just one mark less than her now-departed rival – was convinced it was going to be her.

The former ‘Cheers’ star said: “I was really afraid. And I was so afraid that it put me in a different mindset. Next week, I am going to be the best dancer.”

As well as Kirstie, the remaining contestants are Chelsea Kane, Ralph Macchio and Romeo.

‘E.R.’ Actor — I Sold Drugs To Repay Mexican Cartel

A former “E.R.” actor claims he ONLY agreed to take part in a major drug operation to help his best friend pay off a debt to a deadly Mexican drug cartel … this according to legal docs obtained by TMZ.

Sam Jones — who also starred in “Smallville” and “Blue Mountain State” — wants a judge to go easy on him … despite having pled guilty to conspiracy to sell more than 10,000 pills of oxycodone.

The feds want Jones to spend 70 months in prison — but Jones says it’s an unfair sentence because his only intention was to raise enough cash to save his friend from certain doom.

According to court docs, Jones says his childhood friend, a drug dealer named Tom Cataloni believed he was on the hook to a Mexican drug cartel to the tune of $90,000.

Jones says rather than let his friend get killed, he agreed to slang some pills to help raise the cash … only to find out, there was no Mexican drug cartel … and the whole thing was a DEA set up.

Jones says he only played a “minor role” in the conspiracy — therefor wants a reduced sentence.

Jones is set to face the judge on June 22.
