Jeff Bridges won’t feel guilty if he beats Colin Firth to the Best Actor prize at this year’s Oscars

The 61-year-old star triumphed over Colin – who was nominated for his performance in ‘A Single Man‘ – at last year’s Academy Awards for his role in ‘Crazy Heart’ and he admits he is quite comfortable with the prospect of defeating ‘The King’s Speech’ star again.

Jeff – who is nominated this year for his turn in ‘True Grit‘ – said: “I don’t think I’d feel too guilty, no. Just let it fall where it may.”

However, the seasoned actor has confessed he does feel guilty for not watching all of his fellow nominees’ films.

Jeff – who has watched ‘The King’s Speech’ – said: “I feel bad as I haven’t watched as many of the films out this year as I should have. But the ones I’ve seen are terrific. ‘The King’s Speech’ is wonderful. And I like ‘Winter’s Bone‘.”

Jeff also said he doesn’t mind the endless promotion that comes with being in a film that’s nominated for an award and has found that his win last year has helped his career.

He said: “It’s great to be acknowledged by the guys for what you do. There’s an element of my job that’s like being a barker at a carousel. But after you put all that energy into a film, it’s great if people come see it.

“Winning the Oscar has helped me in other ways. I’m currently making an album with T Bone Burnett. That comes directly from the success of ‘Crazy Heart‘.”

Mira Sorvino’s Husband Arrested for Public Intoxication

Christopher Backus, who is married to Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino, was arrested in San Diego early this morning on a charge of being drunk in public.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ cops were called to the Hyatt Regency Islandia in San Diego after hotel guests complained of hearing a loud argument between Backus and Sorvino over “poor time management skills.”

We’re told when cops arrived at the hotel, Backus was walking around with a bat and yelling at guests and security. Law enforcement tells us cops were willing to let Backus cool down in the drunk tank for a few hours, but his behavior was so outlandish, they had no choice but to bust him.

Backus was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public and was booked into San Diego Central Jail at 12:37 AM where he is currently still in custody.

Although the 32-year-old model has just filed for divorce from the cage fighter she has been pictured spending time with him at a posh hotel in Sussex, South East England – but claims the pair aren’t back together and are simply being “grown up” about their split.

After being photographed eating dinner together at the £375-a-night Alexander House Hotel yesterday (12.02.11) the blonde beauty, who is also known as Jordan, wrote on her twitter page: “Me and Alex are not back together but are still good friends its called being grown up and adult. (sic)”

The couple are said to be on better terms since Alex agreed to leave Katie’s mansion in Surrey, South East England – which she shares with her children Harvey, eight, Junior, five, and three-year-old Princess Tiaamii - and destroyed intimate pictures that were taken during their 11-month marriage.

Her spokesperson told The People: “They met up together and thrashed out a lot of problems before enjoying relaxing spa treatments. Jordan thought his gesture to destroy the pictures was a big step forward and they can remain as friends in the future.”

A pal of the pair added: “For once they didn’t end up shouting at each other and agreed to behave amicably from now on.

“They laughed and joked about the old times they had enjoyed together.”

The ‘Just Go With It’ star has denied ever going under the knife to enhance her looks but she won’t rule out having a procedure when she reaches 50 because of the pressure to look good in Hollywood.

The 41-year-old actress said: “I think there is an extreme pressure on women and men to just stay young and unfortunately men and women don’t see it to grow old gracefully.

“A lot of women go too far and end up looking a hell of a lot older than they actually are and it sort of has a reverse effect. So talk to me in 10 years.”

Earlier this week, Jennifer revealed she wants to move back to New York.

The actress – who currently lives in Beverley Hills, California – has recently been spotted looking at a $15 million West Village condominium apartment, and has confessed she misses the city where she spent most of her childhood.

She said: “I’ve been looking and looking and looking. I grew up in New York. I miss it.

The ‘Ugly Betty’ actress lives in Los Angeles with her husband Terence Beesley and their 15-month-old son Francis and while she is surrounded by beautiful women all day long, the Scottish star insists she doesn’t feel under pressure to always look good.

She said: “People often ask if I am intimidated by living in Los Angeles surrounded by beautiful people. But I embrace my imperfections. As long as my body works I am pretty happy with it. Of course, when I see myself on screen I do think I could stand up a wee bit straighter and that it might help to lose a few pounds.”

Ashley, 41, also says she’s not scared about getting older and the effect the years will have on her body because she makes sure she lives a relatively healthy lifestyle.

She said: “I exercise not to lose weight but to keep in control of my muscle. Now that I am carrying a child around most of the time I think that must be a bit of a workout. I’m not obsessed with exercise, just aware that as I get older I need to do weights to improve my bone density and cardio for my heart.

The troubled ‘Machete’ actress – who could face a jail term over a recent accusation she stole a $2,500 necklace from upmarket Californian boutique Kamofie & Company – is reportedly wanted by Simon Cowell to join him on the judging panel.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “Simon wants him and three beautiful girls on the panel. He will sit there like the cat that got the cream. Lindsay is notorious but she will give the show an edginess.

“There’s been serious talks but Lindsay’s legal issues and her commitment to stay sober need to be worked through. She knows this could turn her life around.”

Cheryl Cole and Nicole Scherzinger are frontrunners for roles on the show when it launches in America later this year but Simon is still trying to decide on the perfect combination.

Keira Knightley decided to reduce her movie workload because she was suffering from “exhaustion”.

The ‘Never Let Me Go’ actress – who in the past has admitted she can see herself moving away from acting altogether – made the decision she needed a year off from lead roles after she was left drained after playing Georgiana Cavendish in 2008’s ‘The Duchess’.

She explained: “After I did ‘The Duchess’ I was absolutely exhausted and I just went, ‘OK, I need to stop’. So I took a year off and I’ve been playing a lot of supporting roles recently.

“I haven’t taken a lead, and I think that’s partly because of that need to find a balance.”

However, the 25-year-old star – who split from her boyfriend of five years Rupert Friend in December – accepts she is “incredibly privileged” to be able to pick and choose when she works.

Nicki Minaj has “toned down” her music.

The 26-year-old star – who includes the words “b***h” and “****” on her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ – says her demos were far racier than her current music because she doesn’t feel the need to be rude anymore.

She said: “If you listen to my album, compared to my early mixtapes, a lot has changed. I mean, I really toned down the sexual stuff.

“There was no need for me to do it. I feel like in the past females have kinda relied on that because they feel like that’s all they have to offer.”

The rapper initially felt like she had to talk dirty on her album because she was told to and felt “young and impressionable”.

She added to NME magazine: “I felt like this was what I was supposed to do.

Jude Law is “shocked” at Sienna Miller’s decision to end their relationship.

The ‘Sherlock Holmes’ actor and the 29-year-old beauty have split for a second time and although it was claimed the separation was a mutual decision it has been alleged the actress was responsible for the break-up.

A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: “Clearly things aren’t particularly rosy in Jude’s personal life.

“All I can say is that’s he’s gone through a rough time. These things are hard – it’s awful. The good thing is that he’s busy. He’ll keep on working. He’s shocked by this.”

Aaron Carter has left rehab.

The former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant – who is the brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter – checked out of the Betty Ford Center after successfully completing a month-long treatment programme.

He is now back in his native Florida and working on a new album.

Aaron, 23, entered the facility last month to deal with “emotional and spiritual” issues ahead of a planned re-launch of his music career.

His manager Johnny Wright said at the time: “Several months ago Aaron came to me to help him return to music and to restart his career. He has been in Orlando working on a new album and perfecting his live show and his physical body. Aaron, understanding the challenges and hard work it would take to get himself back to the top, requested to take some time before we started to heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with.

“Therefore he has chosen to enter a facility where he feels he will get the guidance and cleansing he needs that will help him on the music journey he’s about to take. He asks that everyone keep him in their prayers and that they respect his privacy at this time.”

In 2008, Aaron – who has previously dated actresses Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes – was arrested for investigation of marijuana possession, and in 2009 it was revealed he owed over $1 million in back taxes.

This is usually the time when we say “Kelsey Grammer … “officially single” — but since he’s planning on marrying his new girlfriend by the end of the month … it’s just a quick time-out.

TMZ has learned Kelsey and Camille Grammer’s divorce was finalized moments ago — after a judge in L.A. County Superior Court signed the divorce decree.

As we previously reported, Kelsey wanted a quickie divorce so he could marry his girlfriend Kayte Walsh. We’re told Kelsey and Camille will work out their property settlement issues at a later date.

In order to get the divorce, Kelsey had to post $2.3 million, which protects Camille’s pension rights against any new spouse.

Halle Berry is to make a guest appearance in ‘The Simpsons’

The actress has provided her voice for an Oscar-themed episode of the animated show, in which a cartoon version of herself will wear the famous red dress she donned to accept her Academy Award in 2002.

In the story, entitled ‘Angry Dad: The Movie’, Bart Simpson’s cartoon about an aggressive father is turned into a film and wins huge critical acclaim.

The movie wins a Golden Globe, presented by Russell Brand (voiced by himself), but Bart’s dad Homer races up to the podium ahead of his son and gives his own acceptance speech.

The movie’s winning streak continues and Homer takes credit at each ceremony so when it’s nominated for an Oscar, Bart keeps it quiet from his family.

But Homer and wife Marge arrive at the ceremony just as Halle is presenting the statuette to Bart and after his fellow nominee Nick Park helps him realise that filmmaking is team effort, Bart gives his father some credit.

Speaking about Halle’s cameo, screenwriter Al Jean told TV Guide magazine: “Halle starts talking about herself as she’s presenting. She ad-libbed something she actually dreams about at night that we left in.

“We always ask the subject to give us a photo they’d like us to work off, and then we give the character an overbite. It’s hard to make Halle Berry look bad.”

The episode airs in the US on February 20.

David Beckham came to the aid of a stranded British motorist yesterday (09.02.11)

The soccer player stopped in the rain to help Paul Long and his two children when he spotted him trying to move his car off a busy main in Ware, Hertfordshire, South East England, after it broke down while Paul was on the school run.

Mr. Long told UK station BBC Radio 5 Live: “The car packed up as we approached a roundabout over the A10. After 10 minutes a car pulled over and a figure got out wearing a hoodie. As he got nearer it sort of slipped down and it became apparent it was David Beckham.

“He asked if we were OK and I said, ‘Could you give us a push to the side?’ which he did. Then he asked once again if we were OK and as he walked away, I said, ‘Thanks David, I really love you.’

“I could only see his car in the distance, it looked like an Audi but I could not be sure of that. It wasn’t flash.”

Soccer fan Mr. Long admitted he was surprised the 35-year-old superstar sportsman – whose house is situated near the A10 – would take the time to help out a stranger.

He said: “I have always admired him but I’m his biggest fan now, although I feel a bit stupid that I told him I loved him.

“He’s a genuinely top guy especially as he braved the rain to do what he did.”

David – who recently announced he and his wife Victoria are expecting their fourth child together – is currently training with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs during the Major League Soccer league off-season but will return to his regular team Los Angeles Galaxy on February 24.

Miley Cyrus has admitted she made a “bad decision” in smoking a legal high

Miley’s parents Tish and Billy Ray split up last October after 17 years of marriage and the ‘Last Song’ star admits it has been tough to cope with, though she remains optimistic she will stay close to family, including sister Noah, 10, brother Braison 16, and stepsiblings Trace, 21, Brandi, 23, and Christopher, 18.

She said: “Of course anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family. But I have a lot of hope in our family and no matter what happens, we’re gonna stay strong.”

In order to deal with her parents’ split, Miley threw herself into work and was delighted to forge a close bond with her ‘LOL’ co-star Demi Moore.

She said: “It really felt like Demi was my mom a little bit because we had such great conversations, and I feel like it shows on-screen. I can’t wait for ‘LOL’ to come out. It’s what I’m most proud of.”

In a joint statement, they said: “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce.
“We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honour our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”

In her petition to the court, Ashlee, 26, is asking for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of Bronx

The couple married in May 2008 after around a year of dating.

It is not believed they had a prenuptial agreement.

Just last month Pete, 31, spoke about how much he was looking forward to going on the road with his new band Black Cards and taking his family with him.

He said: “The great thing right now is that my family is very mobile and are able to tour with me. And I think that’s the only thing that would’ve been a hurdle. But the fact they’re kind of able to go, I want to be back out there.

“And it’s really cool to be able to see the world and to do it on a record company’s dime, so I’d like to kind of do that and I’d like to show my son the world as well.”

The 29-year-old socialite – who showed off a larger, more muscular figure when she walked down the catwalk at a Brazilian fashion show last week – is said to have been inspired by her fitness fanatic boyfriend Cy Waits and is apparently now on a 3,500 calories a day diet to keep her energy levels up for her intense workouts.

A friend of the blonde star told Grazia magazine: “Paris has always preferred to stick to dieting all the time to maintain her figure. But since she’s been dating Cy, she’s got the bug. It’s a massive turnaround and now she’s working out so much that she’s often been seen on the treadmill drinking a milkshake.”

Paris’ new daily exercise routine – which includes weightlifting, bench presses and running on the beach with Cy, 35 – means she can now indulge in her favourite fast food treats after years of depriving herself.

Her friend said: “Paris has always loved junk food, but before she started working out to this extent, she had to deny her cravings. Now she feels she can indulge once in a while, as she’s burning so many calories.”

Paris is delighted with the changes in her body and is planning to keep up her new regime.

The source said: “She wants to change her image and get properly healthy. At first she was unsure and it took some getting used to, but now Paris loves her new body. And Cy loves it too – he’s always talking about how hot and gorgeous she is.”

Justin Bieber refused to let Selena Gomez pay for her own ice cream on a recent date

The teen singing sensations – who were spotted holding hands at Santa Monica Pier, California, on Sunday (06.02.11) – stopped off for an ice cream while on their romantic stroll, but Justin was the perfect gentleman and insisted on paying for the 18-year-old Disney star’s tasty treat.

An onlooker revealed: “Selena ordered a kid’s chocolate ice cream in a sugar cone. She tried to pay with her credit card, but Justin took it out of her hand and gave his card instead.

“Justin didn’t order anything. They were really quiet. Honestly, they seemed like very ordinary people.”

Despite the low-key setting for their first public date, 16-year-old Justin – who was recently believed to be romancing ‘That’s So Raven‘ actress Jasmine Villegas – and Selena reportedly attracted quite a crowd of fans eager to learn whether they were a fully-fledged couple.

The source added to HollywoodLife.com: “They were quite the spectacle. Everyone was whispering and snapping pics and videos with their phones.”

With the pair having been spotted on a string of dates in recent weeks, Justin admitted Selena was one of his “best friends”.

When asked what he should say to people who have seen the pair in an intimate setting, the ‘Never Say Never‘ hitmaker replied: “Just tell them that she’s, like, one of my best friends.”
