Jenny McCarthy met her new boyfriend on a blind date.

The 38-year-old beauty – who split from model Jason Toohey in December – decided to try a new method of dating in order to meet men from outside Los Angeles because she was sick of their obsession with appearances.

She said: “I decided to import this time because I wasn’t doing a very good job with LA guys. These LA dudes had more make up in their purse than me. They’d literally pull out their knapsack of concealers and I’m like, ‘It’s time to look outside of LA.’ I found a boy. I went on some blind dates. He was my fifth blind date.”

Although Jenny – who has previously dated Jim Carrey and has an eight-year-old son Evan with ex-husband John Asher – eventually struck lucky with sports agent Paul Krepelka, she did have to suffer through some terrible dates first.

She explained to US TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: “The first blind dates were these really bizarre dudes that were like, ‘Do you know Sharon Stone?’ And I’m sitting on a date going, ‘Well, I know of her. I’ve seen her in movies.’ ‘Well, you think you can get an autograph?’ I’m like, ‘Oh my god.’ ”

Thankfully for Jenny, her sister stepped in and introduced her to Paul, who she has been happily dating since December – though she admits they have some communication problems.

Jenny said: “My sister was the one who turned me on to Paul who’s a sports agent and lives in Boston. His accent is so strong – it’s like ‘Good Will Hunting’ strong – that I really can’t understand anything he says to me. He could’ve proposed to me and I could’ve said yes by now and I have no idea. And I’m really happy.”

Leighton Meester has “one per cent” in common with her ‘Gossip Girl’ character.

The fashionable actress has portrayed New York socialite Blair Waldorf in the US TV comedy drama series since 2007 but doesn’t believe she has many similarities to her because she is “incredibly manipulative and conniving.”

Leighton – who plans to leave ‘Gossip Girl’ in two years – said: “I work on a show where I feel literally, maybe one per cent in common with the character.

“You have to somehow find common ground; otherwise you hate them. The character I play on ‘Gossip Girl’ is incredibly manipulative and conniving and, you know, this heightened personality in this weird universe that doesn’t even really exist.”

The 24-year-old beauty also finds it hard to see how people try and imitate Blair because she has too many clothes to copy.

Asked why the show has spawned “wannabes” of her character, she told PopEater: “I don’t see why. It seems like it would be really difficult, even just the clothes, the different bag every day.”

Leighton recently revealed she used to skip classes in school in favour of smoking marijuana.

She said: “It’s funny that I’m now getting to live through what school should have been glamorous and full of parties. But I didn’t do any of that stuff. I hated school.

“I’d do anything but be in school, so I’d skip class. I wasn’t dating around, but we’d smoke pot.”

Exit Through the Gift Shop joins fellow documentaries Catfish and I’m Still Here in their infamous debates of legitimacy. Despite claims of falsehood, this documentary brilliantly features the burning questions about the true value of art, and the inner talents of those who illustrate it.

This documentary centers around am enthusiastic Frenchmen named Thierry Guetta who has a habit of videotaping all of his actions throughout his life. He seeks to find his passion in life besides aimlessly filming his day-to-day routines (we find out later in the film his true motive behind this-it’s surprisingly understandable). Guetta is drawn into the world of street art and begins to document famous street artists as they work. He films hours upon hours of footage and meets some of the world’s most famous street artist…but there is one man he can’t on film. Guetta is in pursuit of the infamous Banksy, the globally-known artist.

Guetta finally locates Banksy, and his life changes forever. This clever documentary truly is one of the most entertaining, engaging, and enthralling films of 2010. Guetta’s journey from simpleton with a video-camera to documenter of famous artists is one of fascinating results. Rhys Ifan’s great narration is a wonderful addition. While some may question the legitimacy of the film, it is undeniable that this is a captivating documentary that features a fantastic story, and makes the viewer think about modern art and its impact on modern society.

I do see myself further looking into the story (because I, for one, would love to know what exactly was going on), but on the other hand, the mystery adds an extra element of fun. In what is sure to be 2010’s best, overlooked film, ExitThrough the Gift Shop xitexamines the world of modern art through the eyes of those who make it, and an individual who may go against the whole purpose of it. This is a thinker, and above that, an entertainer. Overall, one of 2010’s best (another documentary that accomplishes this!) also is a wonderfully mysterious tale.

Charlie Sheen on the Set — Like Nothing Happened

TMZ has learned Charlie Sheen is back on the set of “Two and a Half Men” and is showing absolutely no sign he went on a major bender this weekend.

One source connected with the show tells TMZ, “He has the constitution of an ox,” adding, “He’s figured out a way of shutting down [the substance abuse] long enough so he can function normally when he has to. He’s a complete functioning addict.”

As TMZ first reported, Charlie was on a bender in Las Vegas over the weekend, partying with 3 porn stars. As one source involved in the situation tells TMZ, Charlie doesn’t believe he has a problem: “He’s having a good time. On the surface it’s the opposite of hitting rock bottom.”

Sources tell us people on his team talked to him on Friday about getting help for substance abuse, but Charlie would have none of it. By the way, we’re told the show Charlie taped on Friday is “great, and Charlie nailed it.”

Charlie arrived at 10:30 AM and is now on the set, rehearsing with Jon Cryer.

‘You’re Cut Off’ Star — Popped for DUI

One of the spoiled, rotten she-brats on the new season of “You’re Cut Off” was busted for DUI in West Hollywood last night … at the SAME TIME her show was premiering on VH1.

TMZ has learned Jennifer Jowett — the chick who declared on the show, “Ugly people annoy me” — was pulled over for talking on her cell phone while driving … and when the officer approached the vehicle, the cop detected alcohol on her breath.

Law enforcement sources tell us, 28-year-old Jowett performed “poorly” on a field sobriety test — and was then given a breathalyzer. We’re told Jowett’s blood alcohol content was .10 — just over the legal limit of .08.

Cops placed Jowett under arrest and took her to a nearby station — where she was booked and held overnight. We’re told she was released around 8:00 AM after posting bail.

Carey Hart to Hard Rock: You Cooked the Books!

Carey Hart’s company is suing the Hard Rock Hotel, claiming he was robbed blind by the hotel over his investment in the Wasted Space Lounge.

Hart’s company, S&H Projects, invested in the Lounge, which opened in July, 2008. Hart claims the Hard Rock hid profits and inflated expenses, thus denying S&H its fair share.

Hart’s company claims the Hard Rock created the deception to mask some serious mismanagement problems with the hotel.

Wasted Space shut down last August. Hart’s company wants unspecified damages.

The Hard Rock denies the allegations, and claims Wasted Space never made a dime in profits.

TMZ broke the story … Charlie was on a bender over the weekend, holed up with 3 porn stars, including Bree Olson.

Charlie’s people, as well as suits from the studio … are deeply concerned for him. We’re told Charlie’s people have been trying to get him in rehab but he doesn’t think he has a problem.

Charlie hasn’t communicated with the people from “Two and a Half Men” yesterday or today.

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are going to bring “heat” to the new series of ‘American Idol’

The two singers have joined Randy Jackson on the panel after previous judges Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres left the show but Randy thinks this year’s contestants are even more talented than in previous seasons and says the new series will be better than ever.

He said: “It’s gonna be hot. You’re gonna love it. I’m telling you, trust me. There’s lots of new talent.

“Heat, that’s what they’re going to bring. Watch, you’re going to love them. Steven is mad cool. I love him.”

Along with a new panel Randy joked he has some other changes planned for the show, including a live performance and album collaboration between him, TV host Mario Lopez and rapper Lil Wayne.

He added in an interview with RadarOnline.com: “Mario’s gonna sing. We’re gonna do a hip hop album with Mario. Me and Mario and Lil Wayne are doing this crazy album. The only problem, we just gotta call Lil Wayne first.”

Jennifer Lopez has previously revealed she is excited about the talent so far – even though the lengthy audition process did take its toll.

She said: “We’ve put a bunch of people through – probably more than they have in the past.

“We have about 15-20 real superstars, people who could be recording artists.

“I’ve cried. We get a lot of elation when we put them through and devastation, almost, when they’re not. But it’s been a ball.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones burst into tears when she heard Michael Douglas tumour had disappeared

The ‘Wall Street‘ actor endured a gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment after he was diagnosed with throat cancer six months ago and his wife failed to control her emotions after the 66-year-old star was given the news his treatment had worked.

Michael said: “She had a good cry when she heard. I can’t tell you I was jumping up and clicking my heels. For me, it will probably be two or three months before it will really sink in and feel good.”

Catherine, 41, added her thanks to the medical staff who looked after her husband and declared it was a “fantastic” way to start 2011.

She said: “We are so grateful for the wonderful care Michael has received and of course for this happy news. It’s an incredible way to start the New Year.”

The couple had a low key celebration with their children Dylan, 10, and Carys, seven, where they dined on oysters and toasted with non-alcoholic cocktails.

Although drinking and smoking are believed to be two of the main causes of throat cancer, Michael allowed himself a glass of wine but admitted “it didn’t taste good.”

The actor – who lost 32lbs during his treatment – is now “going to be eating much more of an organic diet” in order to prevent the tumour returning.

‘Jersey’s’ Angelina — Sued for Taj Mahal Attack

Angelina from “Jersey Shore” has been smacked with a lawsuit over an alleged “violent assault” on a female clubgoer before a Celebrity Boxing match in NJ last month … and now Trump is also a target.

Melissa Mayne claims she was leaving a nightclub at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino back in December, when she crossed paths with Angelina … who was on her way to box.

In her lawsuit, filed in NJ, Mayne claims Angelina suddenly grabbed her, struck her in the face, threw a glass in her face – and perhaps worst of all … snatched her cell phone and threw it across the room.

Mayne claims the whole thing went down in front of Trump security guards, who did not intervene or “even attempt to stop” Angelina from laying the beat down.

Mayne is suing for unspecified damages.

Angelina has told us she feels she was “set up” — adding, “That night I feel I was provoked, taunted, and harassed into a fight.”

Authorities Gunning for Conrad Murray’s License

Sources tell TMZ …. the Medical Board of California will immediately ask the judge in Dr. Conrad Murray’s preliminary hearing to yank his medical license if Murray is ordered to stand trial.

Judge Michael Pastor should rule within a week whether there’s enough evidence to warrant a manslaughter trial in the death of Michael Jackson. If the judge orders a trial — which he’s expected to do — the lawyer for the Medical Board will ask Judge Pastor to suspend Murray’s license on the spot.

This will be the third attempt by the Board to suspend Murray’s license. The first two attempts failed. Murray is already prohibited from administering “deep anesthetics,” including Propofol.

Sources connected with Murray say he is furious that the Board is trying to suspend his ability to practice medicine, which would then make it impossible for him to pay for lawyers to defend him.

If California suspends Murray’s license, it’s likely the medical boards in Texas and Nevada would follow suit.

Michael Jackson’s doctor told police he had given the singer Propofol six nights a week for months before he died

A preliminary hearing into the cause of the ‘Thriller’ singer’s death heard testimony from Los Angeles police detective Orlando Martinez yesterday (11.01.11), who said that in interview the singer’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, admitted he had been giving the later singer the powerful anaesthetic for two months before his death.

Michael was found dead from acute Propofol intoxication at his rented Los Angeles house on June 25 2009, while he was under the care of Dr. Murray – who has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

The doctor told police he was worried the ‘Thriller’ singer had become addicted to Propofol – a powerful anaesthetic, not usually used outside hospitals – and had started to wean him off it two nights earlier.

According to the police interview with Dr. Murray, on the day of Michael’s death he had administered 25 milligrams of the anaesthetic — about half the usual dose at around 10.40am, after the singer had complained about not being able to sleep ahead of rehearsals for his scheduled 50 comeback shows in London.

Orlando quoted Murray as saying: “Mr. Jackson began to complain that he couldn’t sleep and that he would have to cancel his rehearsal and cancel his shows if he couldn’t get any sleep since he couldn’t perform.”

Dr. Murray said after giving the dose of Propofol, he only left Michael alone for two minutes before returning and realising he wasn’t breathing. However, the prosecution say emergency services show he didn’t call paramedics until 12.21pm.

When questioned by police as to why he said this was, Orlando said: “He said he was caring for his patient and he did not want to neglect him,”

Earlier in yesterday’s hearing, pharmacist Tim Lopez, owner of Applied Pharmacy Services in Las Vegas, where Murray has a clinic, testified to having supplied the doctor with 255 vials of Propofol during the three months before the singer died.

The four shipments of Propofol were purchased between April 6 and June 10, 2009, with most of the drugs shipped to the home of Murray’s girlfriend in Los Angeles.

One of the key points the prosecution are hoping to convince the judge of is that the doctor was distracted when he should have been monitoring the singer but they claim he sent emails and made phonecalls after administering the drug.

Earlier in the hearing, waitress Sade Anding testified she had been on the phone with the doctor at 11.57am, when he realised something was wrong.

She said: “I didn’t hear him on the phone anymore. I heard commotion as if the phone was in a pocket, and I heard coughing, and I heard a mumbling of voices.”

The hearing seek to establish there is enough evidence for Dr. Murray to face a full trial for involuntary manslaughter and will continue later today (11.01.11).

Shakira has called time on her 11-year relationship

The Columbian-born singer and her boyfriend – Argentinean political advisor Antonio de la Rua – parted ways last August, but decided to keep the news their romance had ended private until now.

In a joint statement on Shakira’s website, the former couple said: “During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another.

“They have been the most wonderful years of our lives, and thanks to that love and the respect that we share for one another we have been an exceptional couple and partners.”

Despite the split, the pair – who were rumoured to be engaged – explained they still plan to work alongside one another, as they have an “indestructible” friendship.

They added: “We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication. Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible.”

The 33-year-old ‘She Wolf‘ hitmaker previously admitted she was keen to have children with Antonio, 37, once she had fulfilled her existing work commitments.

She said last year: “Do I have any plans for children? Little wolves? Yeah, of course. I’d really like to have kids, but first I need to go on tour and release this new album – and then we can sit down and talk about it.”

Jaime Pressly — Wasted before DUI Arrest

Jaime Pressly blew a .22 the night she was arrested for DUI, TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us … Jaime blew the .22 in the field. That’s nearly 3 times the legal limit of .08.

As TMZ first reported, Jaime was arrested at around 11 PM last Wednesday in Santa Monica after cops stopped her on a traffic violation.

Kate Gosselin is asking a judge to hold ex-hubby Jon Gosselin in contempt of court, TMZ has learned.

We’ve learned Kate’s lawyers filed a Petition for Contempt of Custody Order last Thursday.

Sources connected with the case tell TMZ … Kate believes Jon is squarely violating the judge’s custody order – prohibiting either of them from talking about the case — by allegedly selling information about the case and tweeting his displeasure of the judge’s various decisions.

We’re told Kate is claiming Jon is willfully disobeying the orders, mostly to make a buck, and she wants the judge to modify the custody agreement to protect the kids from their alleged money-grubbing dad.

We’re told a hearing is set for later this month.

‘Big Brother’ Star Pleads Guilty to Drug Ring Charge

“Big Brother 9” star Matthew McDonald just pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute Oxycodone in connection with the giant drug ring allegedly founded by his BB co-star … and now he faces 20 years in prison.

As we first reported, McDonald was arrested last April — and indicted for allegedly participating in a drug ring masterminded by Season 9 winner Adam Jasinski … who cops claim used his $500,000 winnings to finance the entire operation.

Eva Longoria Sued — Alleged Beso Restaurant Scam

Eva Longoria is being sued for more than $4,000,000 – after a guy who invested in Eva’s restaurant, Beso, claims the actress ran an illegal scheme to use the eatery to fatten her wallet.

The suit is kind of technical, but the long story short … Eva’s accused of lending $1 mil to the company behind Beso … with the agreement that she’d get paid back at an astronomical amount of interest … racking up $4.6 million over 2 years.

The person who filed the lawsuit today in L.A. County Superior Court, an investor named Mali Nachum, claims Eva’s deal not only violates California law — but it cuts into his percent of the company.

Mali wants more than $4 mil in damages.

Eva’s reps have no comment at this time.

All of the Lights: TRON: Legacy is a dazzler!

TRON: Legacy was a huge relief for me. Being a huge fan of the original film, I have been waiting patiently for a sequel to come along. Finally, Disney has delivered (through the mind of up-and-coming director Joseph Kosinski) a worthy successor to the 80s sci-fi classic.

This new film follows Sam Flynn (Kevin’s kid, played by solid lead Garrett Hedlund) as he, after 20 years, finally re-connects with his father in The Grid, the cyber utopia his father helped create. There, Sam encounters not only his father, but CLU, a rouge program created by Kevin that now reigns over The Grid with an iron fist, and has a price over Kevin’s head. The plot, while at times a bit confusing, adds up like the first one did. Escape The Grid and destroy the evil program running it. This new outing into the Tron world is just as satisfying and fun as the first installment. Jeff Bridges stepping back into the shoes of Kevin Flynn and into the new shoes of villainous CLU just felt oh so right. Bridges’ maniacal performance as CLU was downright great. Hedlund did a decent enough job as Sam, as did Olivia Wilde (”House”), who played Quorra, Kevin Flynn’s protoge in The Grid. Michael Sheen, while being in a minor role, brings a fun, electrified performance as Castor, a hyped club owner. Even Bruce Boxleitner (TRON/Alan Bradley from the original) returns and does a great job. Kosinski’s direction was masterful, whether it be the jaw-dropping Game scenes or the final, epic sky battle, Kosinski truly has directed a passionate love letter to the original film. The film’s visuals are the year’s best, if not the past 10 year’s best. Daft Punk’s infectious score pounds its way through the film, and adds a level of intensity that further makes this film worth while.

I will admit that, at times, the script got a tad bit weak with the dialogue, but honestly, I followed the plot pretty easily. Despite the lukewarm reception by critics, I highly recommend a viewing of this film. It’s fun, exciting, and at times, stunning. I find this installment on par with the original, and if things are like they should be, a sequel could be down the road. Also, there’s a great cameo at the beginning that further pushes the need for a sequel. Overall, Tron Legacy is a big, loud piece of entertainment, and I loved every second of it.

Sarah Palin’s Stalker — New Fears Emerge

A man who’s been legally ordered to stay away from Sarah Palin is causing a new wave of concern in Alaska — after federal agents learned he plans to visit Sarah’s home state in the very near future.

TMZ has learned … 20-year-old Shawn Christy has told family members he plans to travel to Wasilla in the hopes of removing the restraining order issued against him last year after Sarah and her close friend Kristan Cole proved he sent them threatening emails and letters.

Now, Cole is launching a preemptive strike — through the courts — in the hopes of blocking Shawn from “dissolving” the restraining order.

Cole just filed new documents, obtained by TMZ, explaining how Shawn has continued to harass her and her family in the past few months … and keeping the restraining order in place is essential to their safety.

Law enforcement sources tell us Shawn — who lives in Pennsylvania — has not been spotted in Alaska yet … but he’s already filed a motion to remove the protective order.

‘Hangover’ Star Sued Over Nightclub Shooting

Mike Epps just got sued for $1 million for punching a photog back in November — but the victim claims the violence didn’t end there … accusing Epps’ friends of firing shots at him as he tried to escape.

Cameraman Douglas Thornton filed the seven-figure lawsuit today in Michigan — claiming he was covering a public event hosted for Epps at the Key Club in Detroit. According to Thornton, Epps went ballistic and started grabbing at Thornton’s camera … at which point a fist-flying brawl erupted.

Thornton claims Epps unleashed a “brutal beating” — and after Thornton was physically removed from the club, “members of Epps’ entourage fired several shots at Thornton who ran for his life.”

Thornton’s attorney tells TMZ, “Mr. Epps is lucky he is not facing a murder charge.”
