Nicole Richie didn’t invite Paris Hilton to her wedding because she only wanted to have guests “who care” about her

The socialite tied the knot with long-term partner Joel Madden on Saturday (14.12.10) in front 130 of her closest friends and family, but her former best friend was notable by her absence.

Explaining why Paris wasn’t invited, Nicole said: “We only wanted to celebrate with the people who we love and who care about us.”

Nicole and Joel – who have two children, Harlow, two, and 15-month-old Sparrow, together – married at the Beverly Hills estate of her father Lionel Richie, and the 29-year-old beauty admits her dad was delighted by the couple’s union.

She told Germany’s In magazine: “My dad calls Joel my Prince Charming. And that’s what he is!”

Nicole – who wore three different Marchesa gowns on her big day – was also delighted to have children involved in the ceremony, which was held under a tent transformed to resemble a French garden.

She added: “Joel let me organise my dream wedding.

“Harlow didn’t sprinkle the flowers, she just kept putting handfuls of them on the floor. Sparrow was the ring-bearer.”

Sources have previously insisted Paris – who has been friends with Nicole since they were just two years old – was not upset about not being invited to the nuptials.

One insider said: “She and Nicole aren’t close anymore, but there are no hard feelings there. They just grew up and apart.”

Fire-fighters were called to a party thrown by P. Diddy after a model’s hair caught fire

The rap mogul was hosting a gathering in the penthouse of the London NYC hotel in New York on Tuesday night (14.12.10) when the bikini-clad beauty – who was in a bathtub – leaned over a candle and her set her hair alight.

Almost 200 people attended the event – which was originally intended for 20 people – and rapper Fabolous was the first to notice the flames according to P. Diddy’s associate Kevin Hart.

He told the New York Post newspaper: “Fab was the first person to see the fire. We put it out as quick as we could, I can honestly say.”

The unnamed model quickly dunked her head in the water but not before Fabolous took a picture and posted it on his twitter page.

He then tweeted a series of messages poking fun at the girl he has nicknamed ‘ShortyInTheTub’.

He wrote: “#ShortyInTheTubGot mad at me cuz I said I was a Heat fan.. Smh..#HotHeaded”, ”#ShortyInTheTubGot her Fire Marshall Bill on!! *smokin head*#LemmeShowYouSomethin” and “Somebody ask if #ShortyInTheTubGot a light. (sic)”

P. Diddy later tried to reassure the other revellers that everything was OK after the firefighters left.

He said: “The Fire Department just left upstairs. It’s crazy, but everything is under control.”

The rapper – real name Sean Combs – later posted a link to video footage of the incident on his twitter saying: “check it out>>its about to be the bathtub scene!! Lol (sic)”

Other celebrities who attended the event include Usher, Chris Brown and Alicia Keys’ husband Swizz Beatz.

Johnny Depp doesn’t watch his own films

The 47-year-old actor is uncomfortable watching himself on screen, but admits this pleases his frequent collaborator, director Tim Burton.

He said: “I do my best to avoid my films at all cost.

“Tim likes that I’m not one of those actors that runs up to the monitors between takes to see playback. I’d rather swallow a bag of ticks.”

Asked what it would take to get him to watch himself, Johnny joked to Britain’s OK! magazine: “Probably a few bottles of wine.”

The ‘Tourist’ star – who has children Lily-Rose, 11, and Jack, eight, with long-term partner Vanessa Paradis – insists he is always quite hands-off with the filmmaking process as he trusts the directors and producers to craft his work into the way they want it to be.

He added: “I just know that when they say, ‘You’re done,’ that my services are no longer required. Then basically it’s in the director’s and editor’s hands.

“It’s my job essentially just to give them options to play with. So they make it what they want.”

David Arquette will host a new celebrity game show

The 39-year-old actor – who has attracted attention with his wild partying since recently announcing he had separated from wife Courteney Cox Arquette – was inspired to get involved with ‘Ranking The Stars’, which is based on a Japanese programme, because it forces celebrities to make fun of themselves.

Speaking about the show, he said: “A lot of my humour is from a self-deprecating place anyway. My flaws are what make me funny, and I have no problem letting people poke fun at that.”

The show will ask a group of celebrities to rate one another on certain topics -such as secretly informing the paparazzi on their whereabouts or making a sex tape – from whether they are most likely or least likely to do them.

Executive producer Roy Bank thinks David is the perfect man for the programme.

He told Variety: “This show is all about celebrities hanging out for a bit and taking their guard down. David’s whole persona is that. His honesty has bled through and it’s come back to haunt him a few times. If there was ever a celebrity with a brand that matches the show, it’s this.”

Roy also revealed he hopes to have groups of celebrity friends or families such as the Kardashians on the show.

He added: “The more they know each other, the funnier it will be.”

Jennifer Lopez is to be sued by her ex-husband’s girlfriend

Claudia Vazquez – who is in a relationship with Ojani Noa, the singer-and-actress’ spouse for just under a year until January 1998 – is planning to file a $10 million lawsuit against the star in Los Angeles later today (15.12.10).

The case will allege that Jennifer misstated facts to the court to obtain a restraining order against her former spouse – who she has been trying to prevent making their old home videos public – which then interfered with a motion picture contract between Claudia, Ojani and Ed Meyer, who had been set to produce the tapes.

Ed said: “We believe that this entire lawsuit against Ojani and I over the movie and the ‘Sex Tapes’ Home Videos enters around Jennifer Lopez’s hatred for Ojani Noa dating Claudia Vazquez.”

According to Ed, Jennifer – who has two-year-old twins Max and Emme with her current husband Marc Anthony – “hates” Claudia and embarked on her initial legal battle as a result of a personal vendetta against her.

He added to RadarOnline.com: “Vazquez has met Jennifer Lopez on many occasions. They hate each other. Jennifer Lopez called her a ‘w***e’ to a Univision reporter last year.

“She met Jennifer Lopez the first time when Jennifer walked in on Claudia Vazquez and Ojani Noa having sex in the Hancock Park mansion that Ojani lives in. Jennifer was dating Ben Affleck at the time.”

Ojani and Claudia have been dating for 10 years.

The actress – who is married to Coldplay star Chris Martin, a practicing vegetarian – admits fried food is her biggest culinary weakness and she thinks she could even snack on the insects if they were cooked to a crisp.

Speaking to talk show host Conan O’Brien, she said: “Fried food is my weakness. I don’t have a sweet tooth. You could fry a cockroach in batter and basically I’d eat it.”

The Oscar-winning star used to adhere to a strict macrobiotic diet, which is mainly comprised of vegetables and fish and doesn’t allow you to consume any dairy or processed foods.

But her newfound love of frying has inspired her to purchase a deep fat fryer for her home and she often cooks herself and her two children, Apple, six, and Moses, four, calorie-laden meals.

She explained: “I do [have a deep fat fryer]. And I love it. I deep fry a lot of French fries, the good style, like double fried. Fried zucchini, I make fish fingers for the kids, fried chicken.”

Gwyneth, 38, seemed to develop her hunger for fried foods when she was filming upcoming movie ‘Country Strong’ in Nashville and dined out most evenings in local restaurants.

She previously said: “Never have I met such warm people, heard such good music, eaten so much fried chicken. I could go on and on. At a place called Whiskey Kitchen the sweet potato fries are delicious, the fried chicken sliders do the trick, and the biscuits are the best I sampled in the city of Nashville. Justin Bieber has been cleared of assault, almost two months after he was accused of hitting a 12-year-old boy

The 16-year-old pop star was accused of striking the boy in the face while playing a game of laser tag – an infrared points scoring gun game – in Canada in October but police have now decided not to press charges after failing to find evidence of wrongdoing on his part.

Corporal Turley of the Richmond Royal Canadian Mounted Police told RadarOnline.com: “This investigation into the incident is now complete and no charges will be forwarded as the evidence collected [doesn't] support doing so.”

Conflicting reports had emerged after the incident with some witnesses saying the ‘Baby‘ hitmaker was cornered by a group of eager fans and “accidentally hit the kid while running away”.

Other eyewitnesses interviewed about the incident by the police claimed the pop star could have been the real victim of bullying after he was allegedly cornered during the game.

A witness said: “I don’t think Justin was called a ‘f****’ or anything like that and he certainly did not punch the other kid on the face.

“I saw the kid when he left the game and he had no bruises or red marks on his face that could have been the result of being punched or hit hard.”

Leighton Meester thinks being in love is “wonderful”

The 24-year-old actress – who is rumoured to be dating actor Ryan Gosling – enjoys having someone to share her life with but accepts that finding the perfect person may take some time.

She said: “It’s wonderful to be in love. And it’s definitely wonderful to cuddle and have sex and get to experience life with somebody. But it’s OK if you don’t find him and you’re 24. You can find it someday.”

Leighton is best known for portraying Blair Waldorf in ‘Gossip Girl’ and she says she relates to the tempestuous relationship her character has with on-screen love interest Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick).

She explained: “I can really relate to it – not necessarily because it’s this dramatic, tumultuous relationship, but because the way they love each other is very real, and not for the sake of being dramatic. It’s actual love. There’s nobody for each other but them.”

Hugh Jackman injured his eye after a stunt he was filming for an ‘Oprah’ television special in Australia went wrong.

The ‘Wolverine’ actor glided to the stage at the Sydney Opera House on a flying fox zipline, but failed to stop, smashing into the rigging of the set which caused a piece of debris to hit him in the face.

Hugh emerged with a cut over his right eye while show host Oprah Winfrey rushed to his aid.

After medical staff attended to him, Hugh still managed to joke about the incident, saying: “I’ve never been hugged by a paramedic. That was so much fun until the end. Too much fun.”

Shooting was suspended and Oprah told the 6,000 people in the audience – which included Hugh’s two children, Oscar, 10, and five-year-old Ava – and she told the crowd: “Let’s get some ice otherwise it’s going to swell.”

The 42-year-old actor assured the crowd he was OK, and claimed the accident happened as he had got “overexcited” and distracted by the famous view of Sydney Harbour and the city’s famous Harbour Bridge.

He said: “I’ve hurt my eye; it’s not bad. I’m really sorry about this.”

Talk show queen Oprah filmed two shows of her final ever series in Sydney, which she dubbed her ‘Ultimate Australian Adventure’.

Christina Aguilera thinks there is no such thing as being “too raunchy”.

The 29-year-old singer-and-actress thinks the “art form” of burlesque dancing is “empowering” to women and can never be too sexual.

Speaking at the UK premiere of her movie ‘Burlesque’ at the Empire cinema in London’s Leicester Square, she told BANG Showbiz: “I don’t think there is such a thing as too raunchy when it comes to the art form of burlesque. I think it’s very empowering to women to feel confident in their own skin and their own bodies and I think this movie definitely represents that.”

The blonde star makes her big screen debut in the movie and admitted she was nervous stepping on set for the first time but soon rose to the challenges of filmmaking.

She said: “It was scary at times and being a newcomer I definitely had a lot to face and new challenges everyday but I had an amazing time and got focused and down to business.”

Christina was joined at the premiere by the movie’s lead actress Cher and a host of other stars including Kristen Bell, Cam Gigandet and Chelsea Traille.

The couple – who met on the set of ‘High School Musical’ – recently ended their four-year romance after growing apart but their pals are hopeful it won’t be long until they reconcile.

One friend told Hollywoodlife.com: “They realise that they both can trust each other, and there will be a bond between them forever. Career demands, distance and wanting to enjoy being single are the main reasons for the break-up. I’d be shocked if they don’t get back together someday.”

The source added: “They have hung out with each other as recently as two weeks ago and will continue to hang out, since they are best friends.”

She said: “You try to take a bath alone and everybody comes in.

“You just give it up. I’ve shocked myself because I’m somebody that likes to be on my own. But I’m surprised how much I’m very happy to be surrounded by everybody in my family.

“It’s alright. I feel that comfort.”

Earlier this year, Angelina admitted she rarely has time alone but knows it is the same for every parent.

Describing a typical day, she said: “I wake up. I’ve got four kids in bed with me and Brad is on the phone and with the twins.

“I just don’t get any solitude – most people with kids don’t. Sometimes you get a bath or a shower but usually somebody is trying to get in. You get used to it.”

However, the 35-year-old beauty explained that support from actor Brad helped her to keep everything under control.

She added at the time: “Brad and I take turns – like now, he’s working so I’m home with the kids and then in four months I’ll be itching to do something. It does balance itself out mainly because I have an extraordinary partner who gives me that time.”

Freida Pinto is “unrecognisable” in Mumbai’s slums

The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actress – who originally hails from the Indian city – visited the slums with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) recently, and was surprised to find no-one knew who she was.

She said: “People in the city recognise me as the girl from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, and inevitably they stare. But when I visited the slums with an NGO, nobody recognised me at all. I didn’t mind.”

However, the 26-year-old star admitted people often become confused when they meet her co-star Dev Patel - whom she began dating after meeting on the set of the Oscar-winning movie in 2008 – as they think he really did win millions on a game show, as his alter-ego Jamal Malik did in the film.

Freida added: “As for Dev, they hounded him, calling him crorepati, which means millionaire. Everyone needs entertainment, so I’m very glad the film reached them.”

Despite her success, the actress confessed she has been known to stay in her pyjamas all day long when she is at her family home in Mumbai.

She told The Sunday Times magazine: “I generally used my time in Mumbai to unwind, so unless there’s anything important, I’ll be in my pyjamas the entire day, reading papers and watching movies.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is an “old hand” at getting naked on-screen

The ‘Love & Other Drugs’ star – who strips off for his latest role alongside actress Anne Hathaway – explained while nudity can be “uncomfortable” at times, he’s already done so many “crazy” things throughout his career he is now used to it.

He explained: “It’s uncomfortable when you’re naked on set, but I do feel like an old hand at it at this point. I’ve done some pretty crazy things already. My parents taught me to feel comfortable about my body. They told me there’s a beauty in whatever you are.

“Also, I feel it’s very important to portray love and sex in the right way. Besides, in our case, we’d already had faux movie sex in ‘Brokeback Mountain‘. So we were relatively comfortable.”

Jake also admitted the untimely death of his ‘Brokeback Mountain’ co-star Heath Ledger is something which affected him a great deal.

He added to Live magazine: “I do miss him. There was an intimacy that we all shared on that film – I’d never experienced anything like it. It was just us by this river in Calgary for a month, in the middle of nowhere.

“There were no hotels to stay in so we lived in trailers out there in the wilds. We would make coffee together in the morning, eat together and sometimes we’d ride horses to work. We were out there alone and all we had was each other.”

Sir Elton John’s drug habit nearly killed him

The legendary musician – who has battled alcohol and cocaine addictions, as well as the eating disorder bulimia in the past – admitted his “tragic” life come “very close” to ending at the height of his drug problem.

When asked how close his addictions came to killing him, Elton replied: “Very close. I mean, I would have an epileptic seizure and turn blue, and people would find me on the floor and put me to bed, and then 40 minutes later I’d be snorting another line.

“This is how bleak it was, I’d stay up, I’d smoke joints, I’d drink a bottle of Johnnie Walker and then I’d stay up for three days and then I’d go to sleep for a day and a half, get up, and because I was so hungry, because I hadn’t eaten anything, I’d binge and have like three bacon sandwiches, a pot of ice cream and then I’d throw it up, because I became bulimic and then go and do the whole thing all over again.

“That is how tragic my life was.”

The 63-year-old singer – who suffered from a drug overdose in 1975 – admitted despite his vices, he never considered himself to be a drug addict.

Speaking to Piers Morgan as part of his ‘Life Stories’ series, Elton added: “I’m not being flippant when I say that when I look back I shudder at the behaviour and what I was doing to myself. It just takes over your whole psyche, this stuff.

“I never considered myself a drug addict, I thought drug addicts were people who stuck needles in their arms. And I was the biggest junkie there was.”

With Joel’s twin brother and fellow Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden reportedly assuming the role of best man, it is believed one particularly unusual guest was in attendance at the nuptials.

According to gossip website Radar Online, a trained elephant named Tai was spotted being led into the estate prior to the wedding.

Meanwhile, DJ Samantha Ronson was bridesmaid, while several high-profile close friends, including Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, Kris Jenner and music legend Quincy Jones – who is also Nicole’s godfather – also saw the couple marry.

However, the 29-year-old star’s former best friend Paris Hilton – with whom she famously had a well-documented spat in 2005 – was reportedly nowhere to be seen at the nuptials.

Nicole – who is believed to have worn a custom-made Marchesa gown – was said to be keen to ensure her wedding was only attended by the couple’s “closest friends and family”.

Although the Pussycat Dolls originally started off as a lap dancing group in Los Angeles, Nicole thinks her talent and that of her bandmates helped fans to forget their roots.

The Hollywood stars – who raise six children together, Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – have been working with Indian spiritual teacher Guru Ram Lalji to bring harmony to their five-year union.

A source told Now magazine: “They’ve been practising his Siddha yoga and they start and end the day by chanting a sacred word he’s given them.

“It’s transformed their relationship – they’ve both cut back on drinking and no longer argue.”

Brad and Angelina are not the only couple to practise yoga together.

It was recently revealed that David and Victoria Beckham have developed an interest in the relaxation technique and attend regular sessions together.

A source said: “Victoria and David do power yoga classes for couples for an hour about twice a week.

“It’s a very intimate experience. You have to learn to become one entity entirely. You stretch, breathe and move as one – it’s great for couples and probably better than talking in a way.

Sienna Miller wishes she had Keira Knightley’s life.

The ‘Factory Girl’ star – who is in a relationship with Jude Law – befriended the actress when they worked together on ‘The Edge of Love’ and is in awe of the quiet home life her pal has with boyfriend Rupert Friend.

Sienna said: “She and Rupert live a wonderful life. They read books and discuss topics and cook for their friends. “It’s the kind of life I aspire to – I don’t know if they even watch TV. “But don’t be fooled and think she is a goody-goody. She can be a bloody good laugh.”

Keira loves spending time at home and admits among her favorite things to do is spend hours baking in her kitchen or browsing markets for unique additions to her house.

She told Britain’s Vogue magazine: “I really do have baking days. I make all sorts of cakes and breads.

Nicole Scherzinger swears diets don’t work.

The Pussycat Dolls singer – who is renowned for her stunning slender figure – has tried a number of different strict eating plans but is unable to restrain her urges to eat calorific treats once she relaxes her food rules.

She said: “I’ve tried every diet out there and they don’t work, because eventually the diet ends and I want the foods that I restrain myself from eating. “It’s about having everything in moderation as long as you’re staying active. I also try not to eat late at night, not after 7pm if I can help it.”

Nicole – who was born in Hawaii and also lived in the US from the age of six – also said she found it difficult being a part of raunchy pop group Pussycat Dolls and wearing revealing outfits because of her strict upbringing.

She explained: “I come from a Catholic background that was very conservative, so I wasn’t comfortable showing off my body and was very self conscious about myself. But I learned to deal with that.

“I was much harder on myself when I was younger and that’s changed now that I’ve matured.”

Miley Cyrus has been filmed smoking a legal high

Video footage posted on the internet show the 18-year-old singer-and-actress inhaling smoke from a bong – a filtration device for smoking – at a party held at her Los Angeles home on November 28, before bursting into giggles.

According to gossip website TMZ, the smoke comes from a natural herb called salvia, which has psychedelic qualities.

In the clip, Miley takes a hit then says: “OK I’m about to lose it now. I’m having a little bit of a trip right now.”

With music blaring in the background, the ‘Last Song’ star later mistakenly identifies one of the party guests as her former boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

She laughs: “Oh my God! He looks so much like him! He looks so much like Liam. Is that me tripping? He doesn’t look like Liam at all? Dude, that looks just like Liam!”

It is believed the footage was stolen or copied from a camera belonging to a friend of Miley’s.

The former ‘Hannah Montana’ star’s “honorary godmother” Dolly Parton recently admitted she was worried about the people influencing the teenage star’s behaviour.

Dolly said: “I think she’s just in a crosswind trying to overcome the ‘Hannah Montana’ little girl and trying to become a young woman.

“I don’t know if she’s surrounded by people that are helping her to not make the wise decisions…”
