Gary Shirley usually has no problem yapping on camera — but when we caught up with him today in New Jersey … he was stone cold silent.

Gary and his friends were on their way to spend NYE in NYC. We hit up Gary with all sorts of questions about baby mama Amber Portwood and his daughter Leah — but Gary repeatedly, though quite respectively, declined to comment.

The one time Gary did get fired up was when he yelled at one of his friends for making an attempted joke about Leah.

Perhaps being a protective father is Gary’s New Year’s resolution.

Mel B is worried married people will think she’s “a pervert” – because she speaks about her sex life so much

The former Spice Girls singer is happy to openly talk about her bedroom antics with husband Stephen Belafonte, but does worry about how people could perceive her.

Mel said: “We have lots of sex, we raise our kids very well and Stephen cooks dinner every night for the whole family – life’s good.

“Everybody has sex, especially if you’re married. I don’t know if married people will be inspired by me though – they might just think I’m a pervert.”

Mel – who raises her daughters, Phoenix, 11, and Angel, three, from previous relationships and Stephen’s child Giselle, seven, with her husband – also revealed she thinks having sex is a good way to keep fit.

The 35-year-old star – who has been married to Stephen for three years – added: “I think any kind of sexual activity is a bit of a workout if you do it right. We have good communication with each other and I never fake it.”

Taylor Swift’s dad sells her T–shirts at her shows

The 21-year-old country singer’s father Scott is her biggest fan and likes to be heavily involved at her concerts to show his support for his famous daughter.

Taylor explained: “My dad is adorably optimistic, positive, pie-in-the-sky. He thinks every new song I write is my best. He sells T-shirts at my merchandise stands and hands out guitar picks to fans.”

Many fans have met Scott while at Taylor’s shows, and said how friendly he is.

One US fan, Emily, told how she met the former stockbroker at a concert in Washington DC.

She wrote on a fan site in June this year: “I got pit passes and met Scott (Taylor’s dad for anyone unaware) He came out and gave us guitar picks then my friend and I talked to him for a minute or two by the soundbooth during ‘Hey Stephen’.

“I was so close to hugging Taylor but she had to turn around and go the other way to get back to the actual stage. But I touched her hand at one point during the show. And she looked right at me during ‘Fifteen’ on the moving stage.”

Taylor also told how she takes elements of her mother’s personality into her onstage persona too.

She said: “Mom is a planner, an organiser. She’s very strong and practical. She’s the person that’ll tell me if I ever start to change my personality. The balance of the two of them created my personality.”

‘Glee’ star Amber Riley doesn’t make New Year’s resolutions

The actress – who plays Mercedes Jones in the musical drama series – prefers to act immediately if there is something in her life she wants to change.

She said: “I don’t make resolutions – why wait to do tomorrow what you can do today?”

The 24-year-old star is looking forward to 2011 and finishing the current series of ‘Glee’ – which follows the lives of the members of the show’s titular singing club.

She added: “In 2011 I just want to keep working on my dream and finish season two of ‘Glee’ with a bang!”

One storyline definitely confirmed for ‘Glee’ in the New Year is a cameo by Katie Couric.

The ‘CBS Evening News’ anchor will appear as herself in the series’ post-Superbowl episode, which will air on February 6.

Although her storyline is yet to be confirmed, Katie will appear in scenes with cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, who is played Jane Lynch.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie visited a children’s cancer centre on Wednesday (29.12.10)

The showbiz couple – who raise six kids, Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, together – were joined by Brad’s parents and brother Doug on their brief trip to the St. John’s Jane Pitt Paediatric Cancer Centre, which is in the actor’s hometown of Springfield, Missouri.

Hospital spokesperson Cora Scott revealed: “They stayed about 45 minutes. It was a very nice visit.”

Last year, Brad and Angelina, along with the actor’s brother, sister and their families, donated $1 million to St. John’s Foundation for Community Health and had the paediatric cancer unit dedicated to the ‘Burn After Reading’ star’s mother Jane.

Cora added to People magazine: “Jane Pitt is a gem in our community. She’s a very wonderful woman who cares so very much about the well being of children.”

The trip was the first appearance made by the couple since returning from Namibia, where they spent Christmas with their children.

The couple went to the African nation where Shiloh was born, staying for a week in a villa at the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary and Lodge in the village of Langstrand.

The family – arrived in the country on December 19, and reportedly spent their time on the beach as well as roaming in the nearby Nakuluft Mountains.

A source said: “They really enjoyed their trip.

“They were able to mingle with locals, visit Swakopmund and go to the beach there and also the beach in their neighbourhood.”

The family stayed with a host family, headed by Dr. Rudie van Vuuren, a famous physician, cricket player and conservationist and his wife Marlice.

Khloe Kardashian and her husband are reportedly getting their own reality TV show.

The 26-year-old socialite – who tied the knot with Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom in September 2009 after a whirlwind one-month romance – is said to be branching out from the rest of the Kardashians to appear in the E! spin-off show, which will focus on the pair’s marriage.

With both having already appeared in reality shows ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ and ‘Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami’, the new series is believed to be taking a ‘Newlyweds’-style format and will see the couple go about their day-to-day lives.

Lamar’s two children Destiny, 12, and eight-year-old Lamar junior – who he had with ex-wife Liza Morales – are also expected to be appearing in the spin-off show.

The brunette star recently revealed the 31-year-old sportsman is keen for the couple to start their own family, and would like them to have twins.

However, she thinks he needs to learn a thing or two about biology.

Khloe said: “He asked me, ‘Can’t we just put two in there?’ He’s crazy, he thinks it’s like that easy.”

Christina Aguilera is planning to spend New Year’s Eve (31.12.10) celebrating her 30th birthday.

The singer-and-actress reached the landmark age on December 18 but was too busy at the time promoting her movie ‘Burlesque’ to celebrate properly so she is making the turn of the year a double celebration.

She said: “My actual birthday was in December and I turned 30! It was a big one – the next chapter of my life. I’m a Sagittarius. But, because I was working so much on the movie, I postponed my birthday party, so New Year’s Eve is my big 30th birthday party.”

Rather than be worried about turning 30, the pop star insists she is pleased to leave her 20s behind her because she now knows so much about life going into a new decade.

She said: “Being 30 is better than being 20, I’ll tell you that. The lessons I’ve learned and how I’ve grown is incredible.”

Robert Pattinson wants to hire a body double.

The ‘Twilight Saga’ actor is planning to step up his security after being bombarded by saucy mail from female admirers and came up with the idea of a decoy after one of his more dedicated fans started following him and girlfriend Kristen Stewart everywhere.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “He’s become the focus of a group of over-zealous female fans.

“Robert is constantly inundated with fan mail but one group of four girls have been targeting him repeatedly, telling him they want to do ruse, saucy things to him. One girl from Japan has started turning up wherever he is.

“Robert thinks there’s only one thing for it and that is to increase his security and use a body double. It may seem a bit extreme but at least he can now be in two countries at once and spend some quality time with Kristen.”

It was previously revealed that Robert needed 25 security guards to protect him when he was shooting his role as vampire Edward Cullen in the ‘Twilight Saga’ movie franchise.

The British star said earlier this year: “They had to hire another ten security guards and they had to form a ring around you and it had to be every single day. And if you’re doing a movie for $1 million or $2 million, security is expensive. So you hire 25 security guards for one cast member.

“The whole thing got over-run and people are grabbing you and that’s just you on the way from set to trailer.”

Robert, 24, has previously admitted his legions of fans and the pressure of fame made him “really paranoid”.

He explained: “I was getting really paranoid. But then I realised that if tomorrow I say, ‘OK, I’ve had enough we’re stopping everything,’ it won’t change anything.

Taylor Momsen feels like a “product”.

The 17-year-old singer-and-actress – who appeared in her first commercial when she was just three years old – believes she has learned more about herself and her career as she has got older.

She said: “You get more insight as you get older, on everything.

“But you get used to it. You ignore it – because whatever people say about me doesn’t bother me at all. If you’re in high school or college or at work, someone’s not going to like you. It’s inevitable. But it doesn’t mean anything.”

The ‘Walk the Line’ actress – who has two children, Ava, 11, and seven-year-old Deacon, with former husband Ryan Phillippe – has announced plans to marry Hollywood agent Jim Toth after almost a year of dating.

Her representative confirmed to UsMagazine.com: “They are engaged and extremely happy.”

News of the couple’s engagement is said to be supported by the 34-year-old beauty’s children.

One insider said: “Ava and Deacon are happy with him.”

Earlier this month, Jim fuelled engagement rumours when he was spotted visiting a number of high-profile jewellers in California, including the world-famous Harry Winston in Beverly Hills, looking for the perfect band to propose with.

A source said: “He was looking for something pretty big, around three or four carats. Reese probably wouldn’t wear anything larger than that since she’s not showy. Price wasn’t an issue.”

A friend of the agent revealed he was serious about Reese from the beginning.

Russell Brand worries about losing his wedding ring.

The British comic married singer Katy Perry in India in October and claims wearing the symbolic jewellery could lead to more problems than the marriage itself.

He said: “It’s weird to wear a wedding ring because when I wash my hands, I’m scared I’ll leave it by the sink.

“So basically the wearing of the ring is fraught with potential pitfalls, if not the marriage it signifies.”

The ‘Get Him to the Greek’ actor also spoke of what attracted him to Katy, admitting it was her combination of strength and gentleness.

Natalie Portman has announced she is both engaged and pregnant.

The actress is set to wed ballet choreographer Benjamin Millepied, and the couple are also expecting their first child in spring 2011.

Natalie told EW.com: “I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience.”

The pair met on the set of ‘Black Swan’ last year, in which Natalie portrays a troubled ballet dancer and Benjamin – who is classically trained and studied at the School of American Ballet as a teenager – was one of her choreographers on set.

The couple have kept their relationship out of the public eye, and did not even pose together on the red carpet at the film’s premiere, but 32-year-old Benjamin – who was born in France – has revealed he was “blown away” by Natalie’s acting ability and insists she was “amazing to watch”.

Natalie, 29, trained for up to eight hours a day for her role as the character Nina in ‘Black Swan’ and claims living the “monastic” life of a ballet dancer helped her get into the right mindset for the role.

She explained: “You are constantly putting your body through extreme pain, so you get that understanding of the self-flagellation of a ballet dancer.”

Israeli-American Natalie has also previously said she would like to raise her children in the Jewish faith.

She said: “A priority for me is definitely that I’d like to raise my kids Jewish, but the ultimate thing is to have someone who is a good person and a partner.”

The 84-year-old publishing mogul took to twitter to announce the engagement – which happened on Christmas Eve (24.12.10) – adding the blonde Playmate “burst into tears” upon seeing the ring.

He wrote: “After the movie tonight, Crystal & I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring. A truly memorable Christmas Eve. (sic)”

When questioned on twitter if the ring was part of a proposal of marriage, he said: “Yes, the ring I gave to Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.”

Although she did not tweet personally about the engagement, Crystal did thank her online followers for their words of support.

The Ting Tings singer Katie White is worried she has become “addicted to playing live shows”.

The pop star was surprised at how “emotional” and difficult she found it to adjust to normal life after she and her bandmate Jules De Martino completed their tour commitments in 2009 and moved to Berlin, Germany, to record their upcoming second album.

She told BANG Showbiz: “We’ve discovered from being in Berlin that we hate normal life, and that making dinner and doing normal work stuff is really hard for us now.

“For about a month after touring it’s so weird because your life has just been sat on a tour bus and planes for two years.

“Then it stops and you find real life, just kind of watching a film and eating dinner, really boring, and you have this huge panic, it’s like, ‘Oh my god, am I addicted to playing shows every night?’ And you kind of get really emotional.

“We’ve turned into a touring band where you can only function when you’re on the road.”

Multi-instrumentalist Jules also revealed recording in Berlin – famous for its techno music scene and as the place where David Bowie recorded some of his darkest material – gave their sound a more serious edge.

He explained: “It was hard for us to judge this LP because we’re always wrong, we say we have made a more serious record and then people will think it’s really uplifting, but I think this album has a dark side to it, more so than the first one.”

David and Victoria Beckham are set to move to New York

The superstar couple currently live in Los Angeles – where David plays soccer for Los Angeles Galaxy – but also have homes in their native London and the South of France and are now set to splash out on a luxurious Manhattan home as fashion designer Victoria wants to be there for her work.

Victoria reportedly told a friend: “My work is so important to me and LA just isn’t a real fashion city.”

A source added to Now magazine: “Her friendship group in LA has disbanded and David was travelling a lot more than she’d anticipated and so was she. It just seemed to make sense for her to be based in fashion capital New York. It’s closer to London and Europe for her business meetings.”

However, David still has a contract with his club so the couple – who have three sons together – will keep their Beverly Hills home, which he will use as base while playing.

The source continued: “David’s used to flying a lot but this will be the first time he’s been permanently based so far from his team. If he has a few games in a row, he’ll stay in Los Angeles. This isn’t a decision they’ve come to lightly. They still like LA and have no plans to sell their home there but being based in Hollywood doesn’t appeal to them anymore and they feel it’s time for a change.”

Dannii Minogue is hoping Santa Claus visits her baby son Ethan

The Australian beauty – who gave birth to the tot in July – is enjoying her first Christmas as a mother and can’t wait to see what Ethan gets in his stocking.

Kim Kardashian has been handing out toys to sick children this Christmas Eve

The reality TV star got into the festive spirit by handing out hundreds of gifts to youngsters at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Demi Lovato has reached a settlement with the dancer she has been accused of punching

Lawyers acting for the troubled star – who is currently in rehab receiving treatment for “emotional and physical issues” – held a series of discussions with Alex Welch’s attorneys and have now reached a satisfactory conclusion.

Alex’s lawyer Donald Karpel said: “The parties are satisfied and the dispute has been resolved amicably and completely.”

He added the issue has “been resolved amicably and completely,” although he refused to reveal the amount of the settlement.

Alex, 21, had been planning to give an interview about the incident, which left her with a black eye, but was asked by Demi’s representatives to hold off until the case was negotiated.

Recalling the alleged attack, Alex recently revealed it happened after Demi had been reprimanded about her behaviour while on The Jonas Brothers tour and, believing one of the dancers had complained about her, the teenage singer-and-actress took them into a room and threatened them, saying: “If I find out who told on me …”

Gwyneth Paltrow says life with her ex-boyfriends Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck was “strange”

The Oscar-winning actress – who has two children, six-year-old Apple and Moses, four, with her Coldplay frontman husband Chris Martin – insists her high-profile relationships with the two Hollywood actors were surreal.

Gwyneth – who is rarely photographed with her husband and tries to keep her family life out of the public spotlight – said: “It was strange to be part of a public couple.”

Although the ‘Country Strong’ star’s parents were both involved in the movie industry – her mother Blythe Danner is an actress and late father Bruce Paltrow was a director – Gwyneth revealed claims she didn’t live a privileged life growing up.

In a new E! special, ‘Gwyneth Paltrow’, that aired in the US on Wednesday night (22.12.10), she said: “I would say, ‘Dad, I can’t go out to dinner, I have no money.’ And he would say, ‘You’re welcome to come over here and eat at our house anytime, but I’m not giving you money for your social life.’ ”

Blythe added: “We could have paid for everything and had a spoiled kid. [But] I think it’s really important for people to work hard.”

Despite her seemingly perfect life, Gwyneth – whose acting career is going from strength to strength – admits she has gone through some difficult times, especially when she suffered from post-partum depression after the birth of her son Moses.

She explained: “You don’t want anybody to know that you’re depressed or crying all the time. There’s this shame that we bring to it and it’s incredibly debilitating and scary and you just don’t feel like yourself.”
