John Abraham (born 17 December 1972) is an Indian actor and model. After modeling for numerous advertisements and companies, John made his film debut with Jism (2003), which earned him a Filmfare Best Debut Award nomination. This was followed by his first commercial success, Dhoom (2004).

John received two Filmfare Award nominations, for his negative roles in Dhoom, and then in Zinda (2006). He later appeared in the major critical success Water (2005). In 2007, John was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film Baabul (2006).

John started his modelling career appearing in the music video of the song “Surma” by Punjabi singer Jazzy B. He then joined the media firm Time & Space Media Entertainment Promotions Ltd., which, however, closed because of financial problems. Later, he worked for Enterprises-Nexus as a media planner.

In 2005 John starred in the supernatural thriller Kaal and the comedy Garam Masala both of which did well at the box office. John also had a major role in the critically acclaimed film Water, which portrayed the tragic fate of Hindu widows in British India of the 1930s. The film was written and directed by independent Canadian film-maker Deepa Mehta. It was popular internationally, and was nominated for the 2006 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 79th Academy Awards.

John performed at the “Rockstars Concert” along with fellow Bollywood actors Salman Khan, Zayed Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Esha Deol, Shahid Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat in 2006. In that same year, he starred in the films Zinda, Taxi No 9211, Baabul and Kabul Express. Among these Taxi No 9211 and Kabul Express were substantially successful.

Nikhil Advani’s multi-starrer Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love was Abraham’s first release in 2007. The movie failed to do well at the Indian box office, though it did well in the overseas markets. His last two 2007 releases included the arthouse thriller No Smoking and the sports film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.

He starred alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra in Dostana, Produced by Karan Johar, the film performed well at the box office. John’s first release of 2009 was another much awaited production by Yash Raj Films, New York. The film was a critical and commercial success. It followed the lives of three best friends after the September 11 attacks in New York City. John has a fashion line— branded JA Clothes — which primarily features his favorite article of clothing, jeans.

‘America’s Got Talent’ Contestant Arrested for Drugs

TMZ has learned “America’s Got Talent” contestant Joe Finley was arrested for drug possession on the same day his wife was found dead in downtown Los Angeles.

According to police, Finley was busted for possession of ecstasy. Cops took him into custody on Saturday night when they interviewed him about his wife Laura Finley’s death. Finley tells TMZ he had three pills at the time.

Laura’s body was found in a stairwell at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in L.A — where Finley was auditioning for “America’s Got Talent.”

Finley was released on $10,000 bail early Sunday morning.

LAPD Questions ‘Talent’ Contestant Over Wife’s Death

A man who tried out for “America’s Got Talent” this weekend is now a “person of interest” in the death of his wife … who died at the hotel where auditions were going on, the LAPD tells TMZ.

Laura Finley was found dead in a stairwell at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. The LAPD tells TMZ her husband, Joe Finley, is considered a person of interest in the case.

He was interviewed by police at length on Saturday.

We’re told Joe knew his wife was missing before he auditioned, but her body hadn’t been discovered.

A rep for Fremantle, the production company behind “America’s Got Talent,” tells TMZ, “We are fully cooperating with authorities to investigate this very unfortunate situation and have no further comment at this time.”

T.I. Won’t Be Charged in L.A. Drug Arrest

T.I. is finally getting a break — TMZ has learned the L.A. County District Attorney has rejected the drug case stemming from his arrest last month … and we’re told there may have been legal problems with the case.

As TMZ first reported, T.I. and his wife were busted back on September 1 for possession of a controlled substance.

According to the D.A.’s Office, they are not going forward with charges because, in essence, he’s already been sentenced to prison since the arrest was a violation of his federal probation.

However, law enforcement sources tell TMZ, there were significant legal issues over probable cause which led to T.I.’s arrest.

Cops claimed they smelled marijuana but no pot was ever booked into evidence. And, we’re told …T.I. was pulled out of his $250,000 Maybach immediately after he made the illegal U-turn and prior to any registration check.

Gene Simmons Hospitalized Briefly for Dehydration

Gene Simmons was spotted leaving Centinela Hospital in Inglewood, Calif. today after he fainted at LAX yesterday.

Sources close to Simmons tell TMZ he hit his head after fainting and was rushed to the hospital. He suffered a cut on his forehead and, after tests were run, sources tell us the doctors concluded it was just dehydration.

He was released today.

Steve Jaffe, Oksana’s PR guy, tells TMZ … “Not now, not ever, nor for any amount of money, would our client, Oksana Grigorieva, even consider any offer to pose for Playboy. Someone might have sent an email to one of her representatives but that’s not news.”

TMZ first reported … Playboy offered O.G. the cover, writing to one of Oksana’s reps in an email dated October 15 and obtained by TMZ, “It would be $75k with cover try.”

Charlie Sheen was spotted all over NYC this weekend with his ex-wife Denise Richards, but it’s not what you think … if you were thinking it.

We’re told Denise had the NYC trip planned for months … to promote her TV series, “Blue Mountain State.” But sources close to Denise say she decided to hit up NYC a few days early because the kids had never been. Charlie had a week off from filming, so he decided to tag along and be with their kids.

According to our sources, Charlie flew out with Denise and the kids and is staying at the same hotel … but not in the same room.

It’s pretty ironic — Charlie seems to have a more stable relationship with his ex-wife than his current one, Brooke Mueller.

Christina Aguilera filed for divorce a little more than a week ago, but already there’s a little conflict.

We’ve learned Christina’s lawyer, disso-queen Laura Wasser, filed legal docs disqualifying the assigned judge from hearing the case.

L.A. County Superior Court Judge Elia Weinbach … fairly new on the divorce circuit … won’t be hearing the case, but we’re guessing it’s nothing personal.

Wasser’s firm has a pretty ironclad rule to handle high-profile divorces with private judges. Translation — they’re usually handled behind closed doors.

Westlife have blasted JLS for releasing their own condom range

The Irish group have ridiculed the ‘Beat Again’ hitmakers Just Love Safe contraceptives, accusing them of going too far with their merchandising.

Mark Feehily exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “It does make you think what the f**k are they doing? Seriously, used condoms is a lovely thing to think about when you think of JLS.

“So will girls be going to their boyfriends, ‘Sorry tonight babe do you mind using the one with Aston’s face on it?’ ”

Shane Filan added: “They obviously got paid loads of money to do it and just went, ‘OK.’ ”

While the ‘What About Now’ singers – who have their own perfume range – admit they have cashed in on their fame at times, they always took a slightly different approach.

Nicky Byrne said: “We had chocolate bars back in our day.”

However, Westlife – which also includes fourth member Kian Egan – did admit they have been approached about their own brand of condoms and joked they are planning a tie-in with their new single, the aptly named ‘Safe’.

Lawsuit Imminent in Eva Longoria Car Crash

The guy whose car got tangled up with Eva Longoria’s thinks the “Desperate Housewives” star is solely to blame for their smash-up — and he’s getting ready to sue.

Attorney Sanjay Sobti tells TMZ he’s been retained by Roman Gasparyan (aka the other driver) claiming his client was stopped in the middle lane on Hollywood Blvd., waiting to turn.

Sobti says Longoria made a sudden turn in the middle lane and smashed into Gasparyan, crossing the median and nearly hitting another driver. Sobti claims an eye witnesses says Longoria’s eyes “were red and bloodshot.”

He says his client suffered back and neck pain, severe headaches, anxiety and blood pressure complications. Sobti says he’ll file a civil suit this week.

But our law enforcement sources tell a radically different story … that the other driver stopped suddenly and she Eva was unable to avoid impact.

A rep for Longoria had no comment.

The 45-year-old actress has realised she has got into a “terrible” habit of eating too quickly, and is now consciously trying to chew her food for longer.

She said: “I realised I’d got into a terrible habit of wolfing my food – hardly chewing at all. I really try to chew everything now and it’s made a massive difference to my digestion and I think it makes you eat less.

“I’m also trying not to eat so late at night, which again helps your digestion.”

The brunette beauty – who has an eight-year-old son Damian – puts pressure on herself to maintain her trim figure, and has managed to lose 8lbs in the last few months.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart want to achieve a “Johnny Depp level of fame”

The couple are planning to take some time off after shooting the last film in the series, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’, to travel and friends say in the future they want to choose their work so they only act when they want to.

A source said: “After ‘Twilight’ they are aiming for a Johnny Depp level of fame - to work when they want but to get peace and quiet when they don’t.

“Right now, neither has accepted a role after ‘Twilight’ so they may even take a whole year off.”

Robert and Kristen – who star as heartthrob vampire Edward Cullen and his love interest Bella Swann respectively in the series – think it will “do them good to disappear for a while” and the time off will give them perspective on their careers.

The source added to more! magazine: “They think it’ll do them good to disappear for a while as they’re both in danger of being overexposed.

Mel to Oksana’s Dentist — I’ll See YOU Now!

Not many people actively seek out a dentist — but TMZ has learned Mel Gibson’s legal team is doing just that when it comes to the dentist Oksana Grigorieva visited the day after Mel and Oksana’s altercation.

As we first reported, a key witness in the case against Mel will be Oksana’s dentist, Dr. Ross Shelden. Dr. Shelden took photos of Oksana’s face the day after the alleged January 6 blowout, although the pics do no show injury or bruising. And as we reported, Dr. Shelden has flip-flopped on his medical evaluation — claiming, then disclaiming and then re-claiming Oksana was struck in the mouth.

Sources tell us Mel’s legal team submitted a request last week to depose Dr. Shelden.

After the deposition, Dr. Shelden should not expect a lollipop.

More drama behind the scenes at “L.A. Ink” — where sources tell us Kat Von D went nuclear over the way her ex-boyfriend Jesse James was portrayed in an upcoming episode.

Multiple sources tell us the recent drama began in the last few days … after Kat viewed screeners of some upcoming episodes which spotlight her relationships with Jesse and her on-again BF Nikki Sixx.

We’re told Kat — who was dating Jesse when the show was being taped — has decided that she no longer wants any traces of him on the TLC show … and demanded that producers pull him from all future episodes.

Now, producers are desperately trying to rip Jesse from the show — but we’re told there’s so much content to remove … they’re worried they may to pack the show with extra commercials to fill out the time before the show airs Wednesday night.

Calls to Kat’s reps have not been returned.

Lindsay Lohan — Served at Betty Ford?

Someone tried serving Lindsay Lohan at Betty Ford – but the plot was foiled. Did we mention we mean served with legal papers, not alcohol?

A process server showed up at the Betty Ford Center last Sunday — to officially present Lindsay with a lawsuit which names her as a defendant.

In the documents — filed in federal court and obtained by TMZ — the process server explains he was not allowed to enter the rehab clinic … so his only course of action was to “substitute serve the guard.”

The suit was filed in April by a photog who claims he got stiffed on a LiLo photo shoot. The photog recently added Lindsay as a defendant.

No word if security delivered the papers to Lindsay, but it doesn’t matter — giving docs to security doesn’t count.

Sir Elton John says he is “too old” to change his music

The 63-year-old pop star is a huge fan of dance records and is always on the look-out for new artists but he would never record an electronic LP because it wouldn’t suit his style.

Elton – who is famous for his piano-inspired sound – said: “I’m always listening to new music. I really love electronic and dance stuff, like Royksopp and Robyn. But I could never do stuff like that because I’m 63 and too old. If I ever tried I wouldn’t be true to myself.”

Although he is a huge fan of modern music the flamboyant songwriter still enjoys listening to older artists and admits The Rolling Stones are one of his favourite rock bands of all-time.

Elton – whose new LP ‘The Union is a collaboration with singer-songwriter Leon Russell - explained: “The Rolling Stones album ‘Exile On Main St’ is one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll records ever made. It was done live, so it’s very loose, a little rough around the edges and isn’t always in perfect time. But that’s the beauty of it, the qualities that make it special.”

Lea Michele is reportedly upset she is being given fewer solos on ‘Glee’

The 24-year-old actress – who plays uptight singer Rachel Berry in the musical TV show – is angry the second series has focused less on her and more on other characters.

A source said: “In the beginning, she was the biggest star. But some of the biggest episodes have taken attention away from her, like the Britney Spears show, which was all about Heather Morris (Brittany).

“She thinks that because she has a Broadway background, this show was made for her.”

Lea has allegedly been critical about some of the efforts of her co-stars – which include Amber Riley, Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron -leading to friction on set.

The source added to Britain’s Star magazine: “It’s not easy being around Lea on set. She has put several people’s backs up and it’s showing no sign of improving.”

Lea has previously admitted working on ‘Glee’ helped boost her self-confidence about her looks.

She said: “‘Glee’ has made me feel beautiful. It has shown me that I am beautiful, that I can be beautiful no matter what I look like, what my weight is.”
