Genelia D’Souza (born on August 5, 1987) is an Indian film actress, model, and host. She has appeared in Telugu and Hindi language films, as well as Tamil and Kannada language films. She first hit the limelight in a Parker Pen commercial with Amitabh Bachchan. Genelia made her acting debut in the Hindi movie Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003, which failed to propel her career in Bollywood, but soon achieved recognition in the Tamil film Boys the same year. Genelia subsequently acted in many Telugu movies during the period from 2003 to 2005, which earned her recognition in the Telugu film industry.

Genelia received her first Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress in 2006 for her performance in the romantic film, Bommarillu, which earned her critical acclaim. She made her Kannada debut in 2007 in Satya In Love. Genelia made a comeback to Bollywood in 2008, and was appreciated for her performance in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. In addition to movie acting, D’Souza hosts the television show Big Switch, and is the brand ambassador of Fanta, Virgin Mobile India, Fastrack, LG Mobiles, Garnier Light, Margo, and Perk in India.

When Genelia was offered a role in Tujhe Meri Kasam, initially she turned it down, as she was not keen to pursue a career in acting. But the crew insisted and kept contacting her for two months, and she agreed when she saw the Telugu version of the movie. She made her acting debut in Bollywood in 2003, with Tujhe Meri Kasam, alongside Ritesh Deshmukh. The movie centers on two friends, who study in the same college, have houses opposite each other, and were born in the same hospital on the same day.

She portrayed Anju, one of the friends. The movie garnered poor box office returns, and it failed to propel her career in Bollywood. Following her poor debut in Bollywood, she decided to act in South Indian films. Tamil director, S. Shankar, was impressed with her performance in the Parker Pen commercial and decided to cast her in a leading role in his 2003 Tamil film Boys, a story about five teenagers having stereotypical teen-boy fantasies. Genelia portrayed the character of Harini, a girl who falls in love with one of the boys from the group. The movie was well received, and subsequently she started receiving Telugu film offers.

Oksana: Mel Threatened ‘Brains All Over the Wall’

Oksana Grigorieva has told D.A. investigators … Mel Gibson was so enraged the day he allegedly attacked her that he threatened that “There will be brains all over the wall” … TMZ has learned.

Oksana went to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office Wednesday and told investigators the day of the nuclear argument, after allegedly striking her, Mel pulled out a gun, waived it around and threatened to kill her, the baby and himself, screaming, “There will be brains all over the wall.”

Oksana says she fled the house with Lucia and her son Sasha.

As we previously reported — Mel’s domestic violence case is currently with the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office for review.

It should be noted, claims that Mel threatened to kill himself, Oksana and the baby never came up during the mediation in May.

Katy Perry is surprised her appearance on ‘Sesame Street’ has been axed

The pop star had filmed a segment for the children’s TV show in which she performed a modified version of her track ‘Hot N Cold’ with red puppet Elmo.

A clip of the track was posted on YouTube sparking numerous complaints the low-cut yellow dress Katy was wearing revealed too much cleavage and was unsuitable for younger viewers resulting in bosses cutting the scenes.

On hearing the news, Katy tweeted: “Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short!”

The sexy singer’s fiance Russell Brand also took to his twitter page to comment on the decision.

Parodying the famous announcement at the end of each ‘Sesame Street’ episode which reveals which letters and numbers featured in the day’s programme, Russell wrote: “Today’s ‘Sesame Street’ will NOT be brought to you by the number 34 or the letter D. (sic)”

He also made another post parodying the show’s theme tune, saying: “Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sex-with-me Street? (sic)”

In response to complaints from parents, ‘Sesame Street’ producers released a statement clarifying the clip will not be included in the TV show.

It read: “‘Sesame Street’ has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show

“In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on YouTube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of ‘Sesame Street’, which is aimed at pre-schoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on YouTube.”

The couple – who are due to marry in the coming weeks after a year-long relationship – have posted a number of pictures on twitter of their escapades at the former Tennessee home of late rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley.

Russell uploaded a photo of the Elvis and Priscilla Presley Barbie wedding dolls, adding the caption: “Mum. Have moved to the South and made friends with a lovely little couple. Send condoms.”

Katy hinted the couple had “relocated” to the Memphis estate, posting a picture of the pair sitting outside the front door.

The British comic actor – who met Katy at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009 – was recently arrested after an altercation with a paparazzi photographer at Los Angeles International Airport and had to post $20,000 bail to be released.

He is due in court on October 15 on charges of simple battery, possibly scuppering plans for him and Katy to marry in India – the same place he proposed to her in the early hours of New Year’s Day (01.01.10).

Russell recently professed he knew he was in love with Katy when she threw a half-empty bottle at him backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards.

He said: “You’ll think it frivolous of me to say I knew I’d marry her on that first date, but the truth is I fell in love with her when she hit me with that bottle. Like Cupid in a riot.”

No wine was served and no one named Judas (or Michael Lohan) was invited — still it was kind of a last supper for the kids. Sources tell us Ali and Mike Jr. jetted out of town ahead of Lindsay’s probation violation hearing.

Oksana to Mel: I’ll Destroy The Tapes … for a Price

There is no question … when Oksana Grigorieva signed an agreement with Mel Gibson last May … she got millions out of him and only gave one thing in return — a promise to destroy “evidence,” including the secret tapes.

The document obtained by TMZ — and now at the heart of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department investigation into Mel’s extortion claims — was signed by both Mel and Oksana on May 16, after a 2-day mediation.

According to the document, Mel agrees to pay Oksana and Lucia approximately $15 million. In return Oksana agrees to “turn over all ‘evidence’, and represent and warrant that all evidence has been turned over and all evidence will be destroyed in a manner agreed upon by both parties.”

Now get this … “evidence” is defined in a related document as “recordings, audio tapes, emails, text messages, videotapes and photographs … of Gibson.”

A source involved in the mediation tells TMZ there’s no question, “It was all about the audiotapes and everyone in the room knew it.”

The signed document gives Oksana, among other things:

– $1 million when Oksana turns over of all of the “evidence”
– $10,000 per month for 18 additional years payable beginning on January 1, 2011.
– A $1 million life insurance policy on Mel
– The rights to their Getty picture deal
– All profits from Oksana’s album, totaling $17,112

Vinny from “Jersey Shore” once again put something where it didn’t belong — and this time it cost him.

Vinny’s 2011 Mercedes-Benz was towed early Thursday morning in New York City … so our tow sources say.

Vinny parked his ride in a no-no zone on Wednesday night outside of his buddy’s place — and awoke to discover he was Mercedes-less.

Jennifer Lopez banned her ex-husband from auditioning for ‘American Idol’

Ojani Noa – the star’s first spouse – had planned to wait in line and serenade his former wife with one of her own songs when auditions opened in California on Wednesday (22.09.10).

However, J.Lo – who was unveiled as a new member of the judging panel this week along with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler – told the show’s producers, Fox, she would be uncomfortable with Cuban-born Ojani appearing leading to him being told by bosses he could be arrested if he went ahead with his plans.

A friend of Ojani told RadarOnline.com: “Jennifer got Fox to make sure the screeners would not let Ojani anywhere near the auditions.

“Fox made it clear that he was not welcome and that he could be arrested if he showed up, so he backed-out at the last minute.

“It was a shame because all he wanted to do was to showcase his voice and show people that he can really sing too.”

Ojani, 36, married Jennifer in 1997 after meeting her while working as a waiter. Their marriage lasted less than a year and they initially parted on good terms, but the pair have fallen out in recent years, after Jennifer hired and subsequently fired Ojani as head chef of her now closed Latin restaurant Madre’s in 2002.

He has since been banned from publishing a tell-all book he wrote about the 41-year-old star by one court, and last year a judge ruled he was also not allowed to commercially release footage from the couple’s honeymoon.

The source added: “Whenever Ojani tries to do something Jennifer just tries to block it any way that she can – nobody really knows what she’s so paranoid about.”

Since divorcing Ojani, Jennifer dated rapper P. Diddy, married and divorced dancer Cris Judd, got engaged to actor Ben Affleck and finally settled down and married singer Marc Anthony, with whom she has two-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Michael Jackson — To Pay or Not to Pay

The Michael Jackson Estate made some interesting calls when it came to creditors — who got paid, who didn’t, and who’s still waiting.

The estate made a bunch of decisions on creditors’ claims, but four stand out.

– Dr. Arnold Klein submitted two claims for medical services in the months before Michael Jackson died — totaling $58,522.89. Pretty ironic, since some people in the Jackson world believe Klein contributed to MJ’s death. The estate has taken no action so far — neither rejecting nor paying the dough.

– Tom Mesereau, the lawyer who did a remarkable job in Jackson’s 2005 molestation trial. Mesereau submitted a claim for $341,452.05. The estate paid the lawyer in full.

– Kai Chase, the cook who was at Jackson’s home the morning he died and the woman who interacted with Dr. Conrad Murray that day, submitted a claim for $8,000. The executors compromised with Chase and settled the claim by making partial payment. This one is interesting because some of MJ’s family got pissed off when she made the rounds on TV following his death.

– Raymone Bain, MJ’s longtime publicist and friend who had a mega falling-out with Jackson, had filed two claims totaling $404,000. The estate rejected the claim and Bain sued. The court tossed her case out.

Jackson Executors: How We Turned it Around

The executors in the Michael Jackson estate have just filed legal docs explaining how they turned chaos and financial ruin into a booming, postmortem business.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Jackson owed 10’s of millions of bucks at the time he died. We’ve previously reported how the Jackson family was about to lose their home in Encino and Jackson was on the brink of going belly up.

Executors John Branca and John McClain turned things around in a big way, for two primary reasons. First, they restructured all of his debts and got creditors to significantly lower killer interest rates.

Secondly, the executors went full bore to generate revenue — and the brass ring was the movie, “This Is It.” According to the docs, the flick grossed $260,000,000, the most lucrative documentary in history.

As for the album, “This Is It,” it sold 5 million copies, making it the 3rd biggest album in 2009.

As for other deals, the executors:

– Republished the “Moonwalk” book
– Made mega-merchandising agreements for all things Jacko
– Distributed a leather-bound, coffee table book on the life of MJ
– Renegotiated MJ’s royalty agreements with record label

But there were lots of legal fees that were incurred to make the estate money — more than $3.8 million since Jacko’s death.

The estate also notes what we’ve already reported — that they paid off the Jackson family home in Encino, bought Katherine Jackson a car and did lots of other stuff for the family.

Mel Gibson Sued — Foreclosure an Option

Mel Gibson could lose three of his Malibu properties and his church if he loses two lawsuits that were filed by a company that built all things Mel in Malibu … TMZ has learned.

According to one of the suits, Mel and soon-to-be ex-wife Robyn — also a defendant — allegedly owe Ramage Construction around $12,000 on the 3 residential properties located near Mel’s Malibu church. The suit asks for the money but, in the alternative, asks permission to foreclose on the 3 homes to satisfy the debt.

Ramage filed a second suit against the A.P. Reilly Foundation, which owns Mel’s church, claiming it owes around $200,000. The suit asks for the same relief — payment or foreclosure.

The ‘Hollaback Girl’ singer is the latest celebrity to be honoured with her own waxwork figure, after legendary museum Madame Tussauds was inundated with requests for a model of Gwen to be made.

Madame Tussauds’ General Manager Rosita Chapman said: “We are very excited to have Gwen Stefani’s figure added to our attraction! She’s consistently rated high on our request list, so we are very pleased to bring her figure to all her loyal fans.”

The 40-year-old singer smiled for the cameras as she posed alongside her waxwork double at the launch of the figure yesterday (22.09.10) in Las Vegas.

It costs $300,000 to produce the lifelike figurine, and experts reportedly spent six months perfecting the ‘No Doubt’ singer’s appearance from 250 measurements and photographs.

Las Vegas Weekly’s Robin Leach reports: “The new Gwen Stefani figure took 350 hours to sculpt and 175 hours to mould. Each strand of hair, weighing 10 ounces in total, was inserted individually and then styled, taking some 140 hours over 5 weeks to complete. Other fun facts include 28 hours spent on her teeth and 14 hours spent on her eyes.”

Gwen’s new figure will join a galaxy of star statues including Snoop Dogg, US President Barack Obama, Michael Jackson and Madonna.

Gemma Arterton is taking a break from Hollywood to spend more time with her husband

The ‘Tamara Drewe’ actress is planning to reduce her film roles so she and her 37-year-old spouse Stefano Catelli – who she married in a low-key ceremony in Spain on June 5 – can enjoy their first year of married life.

She said: “I love married life and I decided it was about time I took a break from filming and working abroad so we can spend more time together.”

However, the 24-year-old beauty will not take a break from acting completely.

Gemma has signed up to star in Henrik Ibsen’s ‘The Master Builder’ at London’s Almeida Theatre from November, and says she prefers treading the boards to shooting movies.

She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I prefer working on stage, actually.”

Gemma has previously confessed she didn’t think she would ever get married and imagined a life filled with cats as she got older.

The 17-year-old singer-and-actress – who has reportedly reunited with former flame Liam Hemsworth after a brief split in August – isn’t thinking about settling down yet because she is so ambitious.

“I don’t need any type of commitment. I’m not living with anybody. I live at home, I still live with my mom, dad and family.”

Extortion Probe Could Derail Case Against Mel

Oksana Grigorieva could be checkmated into silence …. silence that could make it impossible to prosecute Mel Gibson for domestic violence – sources tell TMZ.

As we first reported … the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department is conducting what we’re told is a “serious” extortion investigation. Our law enforcement sources tell us investigators have “numerous” emails, texts, documents and witness statements that could lead to criminal charges.

If the D.A. files extortion charges against Oksana … sources familiar with the case tell us it virtually forces her to take the Fifth — in other words, she’d refuse to testify against Mel Gibson because what she says could incriminate her.

Although the D.A. often prosecutes domestic violence cases with uncooperative alleged victims … sources involved in this investigation tell us Oksana’s testimony is critical, particularly because the physical evidence is shaky. For starters, we’ve already told you about her dentist changing his story, not reporting the alleged violence to authorities and failing to get pictures that show injury.

We’re told the D.A. considers the two investigations “connected.” If the D.A. files extortion charges, our sources say there’s a good chance it could flat-out torpedo a domestic violence prosecution.

And … if the D.A. decided not to file an extortion case against Oksana to preserve a domestic violence case against Mel, his lawyers would have a field day in court.

The plot thickens.

Distancing herself from her American Idol image, Kelly took more creative control with her second studio album Breakaway, and developed a more rock-oriented image. Clarkson co-wrote six of the songs with songwriters such as former Evanescence band members Ben Moody, David Hodges and producer Max Martin; the title track was co-written by punk-pop singer Avril Lavigne.

Oksana to Mel: Here’s Why I Played the Tape

Oksana Grigorieva sent Mel Gibson a long email on March 30, 2010 about the tapes she secretly recorded – and one of her lawyers tells TMZ the email proves Oksana did not try and extort the actor.

In the email Oksana tells Mel she played one of the secretly-recorded messages from February 18 to her lawyer.

Oksana says, “As far as the tapes go, I only played one to my lawyer, becouse on march 15 Michelle [who works for her then-lawyer, Eric George] proposed on ur behalf not a very generous gift for our daughter and there was nothing for me.”

Although that sounds like Oksana is trying to use the tape to squeeze money out of Mel, one of her current lawyers, Daniel Horowitz, tells TMZ Oksana was extremely reluctant to play her lawyer the tape but felt threatened by Mel’s legal team.

Horowitz cites this portion of the email, “My lawyers warned me that ur lawyers are cabaple of false fabrication about me in the press, i.e., an unfit mother, a prostitute etc so u can have the baby and I get to go to my ‘f…ing moth hole’ as u told me. I had no choice, after all of this I had to play one message to them.”

And Oksana continues in her email to Mel, “The messages we r talking about I kept on my phone purely for u, to c how scared we were and for u to understand what this have done to us, how painful these words were, but hopeffuly, eventualy to help us. That was the only reason.”

Daniel Horowitz tells TMZ, “Oksana was legally entitled to play all of the tapes for her lawyers and most clients would have done so. She was being supremely careful of Mel’s privacy because she knew that even lawyers in Hollywood might lose track of the tapes and she didn’t want to hurt him.”
