Cheryl Cole wants to raise money to stop the spread of malaria in Africa.

The pop star was hospitalised after contracting the potentially fatal tropical disease during a trip to Tanzania and while she has been recovering she has decided she wants to help sufferers in the continent.

A friend of the star said: “Cheryl wants to raise money for mosquito nets and better medicines across the worst-affected regions of Africa. After hitting such a terrible physical low, she has come to realise just how awful the disease is and how lucky she has been to receive the best medical care.”

The 27-year-old singer – who had to pull out of the audition stages of pop star search show ‘The X Factor’ and cancelled her scheduled appearances at the V Festival in August so she can fully recover – was discharged from hospital earlier this month and is now convalescing at her home in Surrey, South East England.

Meanwhile, Cheryl’s estranged husband Ashley Cole is selling the north London apartment he shared with the Girls Aloud star before they married.

The soccer player – who is currently in the process of getting divorced from Cheryl – is evicting his tenants from the property so he can put it on the market.

A source told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Ashley informed his tenants that they were being evicted three weeks ago, even though their tenancy is not over. He is hoping to sell up by the end of next month. He wants no more ties to Cheryl or the homes they once shared.”

Ashley, 29 and Cheryl moved into the apartment in 2004 before they got engaged. After they married they relocated to a £6 million Surrey mansion in 2008.

Brittany Murphy, Husband’s Deaths — the Mold Factor

The investigation into Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack’s deaths is now being handled by the Department of Public Health, TMZ has learned … and it’s all because of mold found in their home.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the issue of mold in the house came up early during the investigation into Brittany’s death — but it was deemed “not to be a contributing factor.”

Then when Simon passed away a few months later, we’re told the issue came up again — but Brittany’s mom, Sharon, wouldn’t let the L.A. County Coroner’s Office in to investigate the mold. Now, we’re told, Sharon has agreed to let Public Health investigators into the home.

Mold could be relevant to Simon and Brittany’s respiratory health. Pneumonia was a cause of death for both of them.

We’re also told Simon’s mother, Linda Monjack is fully supportive of this move, and will be flying from Europe so she can be close to the investigation.

TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan started to get some ink done before she got locked up — but she didn’t have time to finish the design … because of that whole jail thing.

At first glance, it appears to be a bruise on LiLo’s upper left arm — but the mark is actually the tattooed outline of a little girl with her eyes closed.

We’re told Lohan first went under the needle at the Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlor in Hollywood just a few weeks ago — and ironically chose the image because “she liked the innocence of the girl.”

Oksana — More Mel Recordings in Her Library

TMZ has learned Oksana Grigorieva doesn’t just have secretly recorded phone conversations of Mel Gibson … she has voicemails too.

Sources close to Oksana tell TMZ the recordings that have gone public so far are conversations between Oksana and Mel, but she also has voicemails which Mel left for her that night.

As we first reported, all the Gibson rants that have come out were recorded on February 18 — after a nuclear meltdown between the two.

We’re told the voicemails are nowhere near as incendiary as the taped conversations.

The former glamour model – who recently renewed her wedding vows with cage fighter Alex Reid in a televised ceremony, just over a year after separating from first husband Peter Andre – was named by 51 per cent of participants in the Great Male survey as being the female public figure people were most tired of hearing about, beating eccentric singer Lady Gaga and Malaria-stricken Cheryl Cole into second and third place respectively.

Andrew Lubega, editor of AskMen UK who commissioned the survey, told BANG Showbiz: “For many British guys, Katie Price represents everything they’d want to avoid in a partner. For a number of men, her apparently harsh treatment of ex-husband Peter Andre makes her bad relationship material, and her constant craving for attention would seem to be a huge personality turn off.”

Recently-jailed Lindsay Lohan and US First Lady Michelle Obama were placed fourth and fifth respectively.

When asked which male public figures British men were tired of hearing about, the 7,000 people surveyed placed Katie’s ex-husband Peter in the top spot, closely followed by ‘Twilight’ hunk Robert Pattinson.

Scandal-stricken golfer Tiger Woods, music mogul Simon Cowell, and England soccer star John Terry made up the rest of the top five.

The Great Male survey quizzed respondents on a range of topics, including use of technology, political preferences, favourite TV shows and celebrity crushes.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have splashed out on a $40 million Italian home.

The couple – who raise six children together -  have reportedly bought a 15-bedroom mansion located in the hills of Valpolicella, Verona, with seven bathrooms, a home cinema, gym, two swimming pools, and Jacuzzi spread out over 18,000 square feet.

Property Consultant Alexander Proto said: “They wanted something more exclusive and in record time to spend the summer vacation in Italy.”

The pair reportedly looked at two cheaper properties – for sale at around $10 million – before splashing out on the bigger home, which they are expected to use for vacations.

Meanwhile, Angelina has confessed that she is scared of her children growing up.

The 35-year-old beauty – who raises Maddox, eight, Pax, six, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with Brad – admitted she can’t stand thinking of the youngsters getting old enough to have more freedom.

She said: “Eventually all the kids are going to be teenagers or tweens. I’m not ready at all. I’m glad I have a few more years. I’m not ready for them driving, dating, I’m not ready for any of it. I break out in a sweat just at the thought.”

The ‘Salt’ actress confessed that she and Brad already have a plan in place to deal with any teenage drama.

She explained: “Our plan is to just have a really, really great relationship with our children so when they hit that time that they don’t want to talk to us we’ve instilled some good values already because it would be too late to  say it as they’re walking out the door”.

Michael Lohan’s Ex — Wing in a Sling

TMZ has obtained a photo of Michael Lohan’s ex-fiancee Kate Major with her left arm in a sling — just two days after she claims he attacked her in New York.

As we first reported, Kate filed a report with the Southampton Town Police on Monday claiming Michael physically attacked her during an argument earlier that day.

On Wednesday — the day this photo was shot — Kate asked for … and was granted … a restraining order against Michael.

Michael has since claimed the engagement is off … for good.

Christina Milian to The-Dream — You Screwed Me!

Christina Milian wants a judge a throw out the divorce papers filed by her baby daddy The-Dream — claiming that he not only lied about the status of their relationship … but he also cheated on her.

Milian is pissed over The-Dream’s claim that they were legally separated when he filed the divorce docs back in February … just nine days before she gave birth to their daughter.

In her legal response, filed last week in Georgia, Milian claims the marriage wasn’t really kaput when he filed the divorce docs — and subsequently had “marital relations on numerous occasions.”

But Milian also claims that if the court does grant the divorce — it shouldn’t be based on The-Dream’s claim that the marriage is “irretrievably broken” — but rather because the The-Dream was cheating on her.

But it gets worse …

In the docs, Milian admits that she signed a settlement agreement with The-Dream in which both parties waved any alimony or ownership right’s to the other person’s property.

But Milian claims she only signed the docs because The-Dream brought them to her bedside when she was 9-months pregnant … when she was in no condition to sign such important papers.

Jessica Biel thinks criticism can be “toxic”.

The ‘A-Team’ actress admits she tries to avoid paying attention to negative opinions because she doesn’t want to live her life trying to please others.

She said: “If you let in, what people say about you and how people think about you, it’s just toxic. It’s just horrible to try to please a bunch of people that you’ve never met before, who want to just make assumptions about your life and your career.”

Although she doesn’t like the negative response she can receive whilst in the public eye, Jessica also finds it difficult to accept a compliment.

She explained: “I think you just kind of go with it more than anything else, because it’s incredibly flattering to have that said about you. But come on, let’s get serious, there are a lot of people around the world that we don’t know about who are probably incredibly beautiful, so it just feels like, ‘OK, cool. Thanks, I appreciate it.’ ”

The Day Oksana Taped Mel

Sources tell TMZ Oksana Grigorieva began secretly recording Mel Gibson shortly after he accused her of messing around with the “tree man.”

Sources intimately familiar with the case tell TMZ … on February 18, Mel came to Oksana’s house and allegedly flew into a rage. Source say, according to Oksana, Mel had quit smoking that day and was in a “terrible mood.” As TMZ first reported, Mel had also tried to quit smoking the day of their nuclear blowup on January 6.

On February 18, we’re told Mel became insanely jealous … allegedly accusing Oksana of having an affair with her landscaper. According to Oksana, Mel said he had to leave because he felt if he didn’t he would hurt her and the baby. We’re told after Mel left, an enraged Mel began calling … and she began recording.

Sources tell TMZ there was no physical violence on February 18 and the only type of violence between the January 6 encounter and the February 18 encounter was verbal … not physical.

We’re told all of the recordings were made on February 18.

‘Girls Gone Wild’ Founder Sues Over ‘Tell-All’ Book

“Girls Gone Wild” founder Joe Francis is on the war path over a “tell-all” book written by one of his former camera guys … a book that allegedly details incidents involving drugs, sex and jail.

The dude who wrote the book is Ryan Simkin — who began shooting naked, drunk chicks for Joe back in 2002.

In his lawsuit, Francis claims Simkin — like all of his employees — was required to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which strictly prohibited him from “writing and publishing any tell-all books about their work.”

So, according to the docs, when Francis heard that Simkin had a book on the way — he wrote up a little something of his own … a breach of contract lawsuit.

Francis is also suing the publisher — it’s unclear how much cash Joe is hoping to collect.

Mel Takes Action After Oksana Alleges More Abuse

TMZ has learned … Mel Gibson has voluntarily arranged for an independent observer to be present when he visits with his daughter in order to protect him from ongoing, fresh child abuse claims by Oksana Grigorieva.

We’ve learned the observer has been in place for a week.  Sources say Mel’s lawyers wanted an independent observer for 2 reasons:

– To refute ongoing allegations by Oksana … sources say she keeps alleging that Mel is abusing their child.

– To facilitate and speed up the investigation by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services.

We’re told the observer — who is credentialed in the family law area — is giving regular updates to DCFS.  The observer was chosen solely by Mel Gibson’s lawyers.  Oksana’s lawyers and the court were not involved.

Sources tell TMZ … Mel has had the legal right to unsupervised visitation since the case began in March.  The observer is Mel’s doing alone and purely voluntary.

Oksana Grigorieva — Extortion Claim a Red Herring

Sources connected with Oksana Grigorieva tell TMZ there is “no evidence” to support Mel Gibson’s claim that she tried to extort him.

As one source puts it, “Mel and his team are inventing false charges against Oksana as a retaliatory measure to take the heat off of Mel.”

The source says Mel’s people are trying “to stem the tide of public opinion against Mel Gibson for his continued bigotry and acts of physical and verbal abuse [by] spreading vicious and false rumors that Oksana engaged in an extortion plot against him.”
