Gemma Arterton (born 12 January 1986) is an English actress. She played the eponymous protagonist in the BBC adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles. Gemma has starred in many feature films including British comedy St Trinian’s and its sequel St. Trinian’s II: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold, as well as blockbuster hits: James Bond film Quantum of Solace, Clash of the Titans, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Gemma won her first professional role in Stephen Poliakoff’s Capturing Mary, while she was still at drama school. Similarly, Gemma made her stage debut as Rosaline in Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost at the Globe Theatre, London in July 2007 before graduating later that year. She made her film debut in the 2007 St Trinian’s movie St Trinian’s as Head Girl Kelly, a role she gained in competition with Sienna Miller.

In 2008, Gemma appeared in the James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. Chosen from around 1500 candidates, she plays Bond Girl “Strawberry Fields”, in what is described as a “nice-sized role”. In 2008 also, Gemma played the role of Elizabeth Bennet in the ITV serial Lost in Austen, albeit a reduced role from the original Pride & Prejudice.

Gemma is the face of Avon’s Bond Girl 007 fragrance which launched in October 2008. Having already started in a series of low-key adverts for cosmetics company Avon, in May 2008 Gemma requested a role opposite model Kate Moss for Rimmel, but was blocked on contractual terms under her Avon contract.

In 2010, Gemma made her West End debut in the UK premiere of The Little Dog Laughed. She was originally attached to star in a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw, however, Arterton later left the project. She is set to star in Burden of Desire.

She was seen in the 2010 films Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and will next appear in Tamara Drewe, being released on September 10, 2010 in the UK.

TMZ has obtained Snooki’s mug shot — taken moments after the Seaside Heights PD arrested the “Jersey Shore” star for disorderly conduct.

Snooki — aka Nicole Polizzi — was in held in custody for several hours … before she was released on her own recognizance.

As we previously reported, Snooki had been partying on the boardwalk earlier in the day with a beer bong … and at one point, she fell off of a bicycle.

Sources tell us Snooki went out to dinner with one of her cast members after the incident last night.

The Boyzone singer – whose 12-year union with former model Yvonne was rocked by revelations he had had an affair with a dancer – has been working as a judge on Australian TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ and says the break from their native Ireland has given the couple the chance to repair their fractured relationship.

Ronan – who has children Jack, 11, Marie, nine, and Ali, four, with Yvonne – said: “We’ve been left to our own devices but we are now a happy family. It’s all good, thank God.”

Friends of the couple are thrilled that Yvonne has agreed to give the ‘Life is a Rollercoaster’ hitmaker a second chance and believe their temporary move Down Under is the best thing that could have happened.

A source said: “Their love is strong and Yvonne wanted to give it a second chance and decided to follow him to Australia.

“That time together has done them the world of good and Yvonne has been able to forgive him. It’s what he thinks is best for the children.”

Ronan and his family are expected to return to their Dublin home before the live stages of ‘The X Factor’ begin in Australia in three months.

The 23-year-old reality TV star cited irreconcilable differences in her marriage to Spencer Pratt when she filed a petition in Santa Monica Superior Court, California, yesterday (30.07.10), two months after the couple split.

Jodeane Farrell, Heidi’s lawyer, told People.com: “Heidi has amended her petition for separation and today has filed a petition for dissolution of marriage from Spencer Pratt.

“The couple has agreed they would like their divorce to be finalised in a timely manner in an out of court settlement. Both parties are amicable with each other and over the possibility of finalising their divorce.”

Spencer, 26, recently admitted he and Heidi – who he married in April 2009 – had gone their separate ways because she wanted to enjoy married life out of the spotlight, while he had his sights set on increasing his fame.

He said:  “We love each other but I’m a famew***e and I’ll never grow out of it. Heidi knows that and doesn’t want that.

“I want every kind of press. She believes in bad press. There’s no way my love for fame and her love for puppies will every work out successfully. She just wants to hike and hang out and be calmer.

Justin Timberlake is thrilled to be voicing an iconic character.

The singer-and-actor is lending his southern tones to Yogi Bear’s sidekick Boo-Boo in a forthcoming part-live action movie version of the hit cartoon and was delighted to be involved with a series he was such a fan of as a child.

Justin – who stars opposite Dan Aykroyd as Yogi in the movie – said: “It’s pretty awesome. I used to watch the cartoon as a kid.

“You’re talking about a classic, two classic characters which have been around since my parents. Yogi Bear is an iconic Hanna Barbera cartoon. So it’s been a lot of fun.”

The 28-year-old star admits he tried to stay as faithful as possible to the original character when recording his voiceovers.

He added: “I will say this, Dan does an amazing Yogi Bear and hopefully I did Boo-Boo justice. But we’re really – for lack of a better term – mimicking what you recognise as those voices from the cartoon.”

Big Money Rehab for Lindsay Lohan’s Rehab Facility

The race to get ready for Lindsay Lohan is on, as the rehab facility she will check into undergoes its own major rehabilitation — one that cost nearly a quarter of a million dollars, we’re told.

As TMZ first reported, Lindsay will get her court appointed 90-day treatment at a center based in Newport Beach, CA — although we’ve learned she will actually be at a satellite compound in nearby Costa Mesa.

According to well placed sources, administrators are putting the finishing touches on a roughly $220,000 remodel, and from what we’ve been told … Lindsay will be living in the lap of luxury. Checkout the baller list of refurbished items:
- brand new hardwood floors
- repainted walls in light gray
- freshly tiled private bathroom
- new walk-in closet
- remodeled kitchen area complete with granite counter tops

Sources tell us LiLo will share her plush surroundings with three female roommates.

Steven Tyler’s ‘A.I.’ Move Won’t Affect Aerosmith Tour

Steven Tyler will be crazy busy traveling the country if he becomes the next judge on “American Idol” — but TMZ has learned the biggest show on TV won’t get in the way of the rocker’s concert tour.

Aerosmith is currently in the middle of a nationwide tour aptly named “Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock!” — and the tour is scheduled to roll through the end of September … long after production begins on “Idol.”

A rep for the band still won’t confirm that Tyler is locked up for “Idol” — but she did tell us that no matter what, “The Aerosmith tour will continue on for its full scheduled run with Steven Tyler.”

As we previously reported, Simon Cowell left for “The X Factor,” Ellen DeGeneres stepped down after one season and Kara DioGuardi was let go — leaving Randy as the only remaining judge.

The locals in the town where Chelsea Clinton is set to tie the knot today are so fired up about the attention … they’re literally renaming their food in honor of the former first family.

The restaurant also renamed a few things after the Obama family … even though they weren’t invited to the wedding.

Kristen Stewart has admitted she feels pressure from ‘Twilight Saga’ fans to get her character right.

The 20-year-old actress – who plays Bella Swan in the movie series opposite rumoured boyfriend Robert Pattinson as vampire Edward Cullen – admits she worries about what people think of her interpretation of the much loved character, who first appeared in Stephenie Meyer’s books of the same name.

She said: “It’s just surreal to be a crucial part of a machine like this. I’m sort of the vessel. These girls are obsessed with Edward through me. If I wasn’t right I’d be persecuted and put on a cross.”

However, the actress revealed that she loves her character and can’t wait to film the last two movies in the series, which are based on the final book ‘Breaking Dawn’.

She said: “I’m excited to go and do the next couple of years of Bella’s life.”

The US-born beauty also explained that was excited to make upcoming movie ‘The Runaways‘ – a biopic about rocker Joan Jett in which she stars alongside Dakota Fanning – and rushed to make it between ‘Twilight’ movies.

She said: “It was tough because I only had a really tiny window of free time, but I really wanted to make the movie. And I didn’t want to get any older than Joan was when she was in The Runaways. I just crammed it in and hoped it would work.”

Linds and the inmate have a lot in common — like a wall. A law enforcement source at Lynwood Correctional Facility tells us Lindsay started chatting with the inmate in the cell next to hers.

We’re told the two got so tight that LiLo asked jailers if her new BFF could move into her cell.
That request was denied.

TMZ has learned rapper T.I. got married earlier today — in a secret ceremony at a Miami Beach courthouse.

The 29-year-old superstar — real name Clifford Harris Jr. — swapped I Do’s with his longtime 35-year-old girlfriend Tameka “Tiny” Cottle.

The two have reportedly been dating since 2001.

TMZ has obtained footage — pretty painful footage — showing a wobbly Snooki trying to get on a bicycle right  before she was arrested earlier today … and as you can imagine … gravity wins.

Some time after the faceplant … Snooki did something to attract the attention of Seaside Heights police … who eventually arrested the “Jersey Shore” star for disorderly conduct.

Nigel Lythgoe — The King Returns to ‘American Idol’

TMZ has learned Nigel Lythgoe will return to “American Idol” next season as the executive producer … marking one of the biggest TV “I told you so!” moments in decades.

Lythgoe left “American Idol” in 2008 as execs were squabbling over how to guide the show. Since his departure, the show has kinda sucked. The fact that execs ate a big fat crow and asked him back is pretty amazing.

Nigel gave an unwitting hint of his return on this week’s “So You Think You Can Dance?” when he slipped and told a contestant he was one of the best ever on “American Idol.”

As TMZ first reported, Nigel won’t be residing over Kara DioGuardi next season — she was let go.

Snooki from “Jersey Shore” was just arrested in Seaside Heights, NJ … TMZ has confirmed.

Law enforcement sources tell us the Seaside Heights PD busted Snooki moments ago for disorderly conduct. The details of that conduct are unclear.

We’re told Snooki — real name Nicole Polizzi — is currently in police custody.

Earlier in the day, Snooki was partying on the beach with a beer bong … only she was filling it up with Coca-Cola.

Lindsay Teams Up with ShamWow Guy … for Movie

TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan shot a secret movie — just weeks before she went to jail — and the man behind the project is none other than Vince Shlomi … the ShamWow guy.

Sources close to the production tell us Vince met Lindsay while the two were in Cannes back in May … in between Lindsay’s doomed court appearances with Judge Revel.

We’re told Vince offered Lindsay a role in his movie “Underground Comedy Movie 2010” — in which she plays a gun-toting Marilyn Monroe spoof who shoots at the paparazzi.

Lindsay accepted the role — even though it entailed filming on June 17 … while LiLo was still wearing her SCRAM bracelet around her ankle.

We’re told Lindsay was cool with the SCRAM being in the shot … and even ad-libbed a line referencing the device.

So far, no word on when the flick is set to be released.

Oksana’s New Rep — Quits Before He Started

TMZ has learned Oksana Grigorieva’s new PR rep Howard Bragman is out … even before he officially signed on.

Sources tell TMZ Bragman had all but agreed to help Oksana — that is until she gave an impromptu interview in front of a grocery store early this morning.

We’re told Bragman completely supports Oksana and believes she is the victim here — but, as one person put it, “He can’t help a client who won’t listen.”

Interestingly, Oksana’s last publicist Steve Jaffe said almost the same exact thing on his way out the door.
