The 82nd Academy Awards will take place on March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will host the show. Our list of favourites comprises of some of the renowned actors who have already captured the imagination of movie fans!
Our Predictions for 2010 Oscar Best Actor Nominees are:
George Clooney for ‘Up in the Air’
George Clooney portrayed the character of Ryan Bingham, a career transition counselor. The film’s main theme is that it is an imperative to find connections and relationships in life. Clooney played the role of a man who makes his living traveling to workplaces around the country and conducting employee layoffs. The film received generally positive reviews from film critics.
Morgan Freeman for ‘Invictus’
Invictus, directed by Clint Eastwood, is based on Nelson Mandela’s life during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa. Morgan Freeman starred as South African President Nelson Mandela. He has been nominated for Broadcast Film Critics Association Award in the category of Best Actor.
Daniel Day-Lewis for ‘Nine’
Daniel Day-Lewis starred in Rob Marshall’s musical adaptation Nine as film director Guido Contini. Approaching the age of fifty, Guido Contini is facing a midlife crisis that is stifling his creativity and leading him into a variety of complicated romantic involvements. The film has received mixed reviews from critics
Jeremy Renner for ‘The Hurt Locker’
Jeremy Renner played the rolf of Staff Sergeant William James in American war thriller directed by Kathryn Bigelow, ‘The Hurt Locker’. The film follows a United States Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team during the Iraq War. He has won a nomination for Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.
Colin Firth for ‘A Single Man’
Colin Firth starred as George Falconer in ‘A Single Man’. ‘A Single Man’ is the story of George, a middle-aged British college professor who has struggled to find meaning in his life since the sudden death eight months earlier of his longtime partner, Jim. Firth was awarded the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor at the 66th Venice International Film Festival for his performance in the film.
