Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend Split?

Charlize Theron

It is rumoured that Charlize Theron has split from her partner of nine years.

The actress – who first met Stuart Townsend on the set of ‘Trapped’ in 2001 – has told friends she split from the Irish actor after a trip to Mexico over the Christmas period, and has now stopped wearing an antique commitment ring he had given her as a sign of his love.

A friend of the couple said: “Stuart is gutted but Charlize said that she realised during the Mexican holiday the relationship was over. They had become more like brother and sister than lovers. It was she who ended it.”

The 34-year-old Hollywood actress is now reportedly living in their main home in the Hollywood Hills, while he has moved his belongings into their beach house.

A source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “She loved Stuart but their relationship ran its course. He is heartbroken but she is insisting it is over. Charlize was surprised the story hadn’t come out yet. But she didn’t confirm it because she wanted to break the news in her own time.”

Stuart has previously spoken about how he considered Charlize to be his wife, even though they’d never married.

He said: “I didn’t do a church wedding or anything but we consider ourselves husband and wife. I don’t need a certificate or the state or the church to say otherwise.”

A spokesman for Charlize said last night (30.01.10): “I never comment on her personal life.”

Matt Damon

The ‘Bourne Identity’ actor couldn’t care less about reaching the landmark age in October because he has been told by his ‘Invictus’ co-star Morgan Freeman, 72, it’s the best age to be.
Matt revealed: “I was talking to Morgan and someone said I was about to turn 40 and Morgan said, ‘Are you about to turn 40?’ I said I was and he said, ‘You are just coming into your prime.’ I said, ‘Really?’ And he replied, ‘The 40s are the best decade by far. That’s when things really get good.’ ”
As he gets ready to enter a new decade of his life, Matt – who has two children, Isabella, three, and 16-month-old Gia, with his wife Luciana Bozan, who also has an 11-year-old daughter Alexia from a previous relationship – is hoping to try his hand at directing.
He said: “I can’t wait to direct. The only thing that is stopping me from directing is that I keep getting these great roles.”
‘Invictus’ tells the story of how Nelson Mandela – played by Morgan – and South African rugby captain Francois Pienaar – portrayed by Matt – joined forces to lead the team to an unlikely 1995 World Cup victory over the All Blacks and unify the racially fragmented country following the end of apartheid.

Miley Cyrus is to star in a remake of French film ‘LOL: Laughing Out Loud’.

The 17-year-old actress has already been cast in the movie and is rumoured to be appearing alongside 47-year-old Demi Moore.

The original film – which starred former Bond girl Sophie Marceau -tells the story of a mother and daughter struggling to maintain their relationship following a marriage breakdown.

It is the latest in a string of movie roles Miley has landed which will move her into mainstream cinema following the success she enjoyed as the star of the ‘Hannah Montana’ franchise.

Last year, she filmed a cameo appearance in ‘Sex and the City 2’ and this year she will appear in drama ‘The Last Song’ alongside her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Miley recently indicated she wanted to step away from being a teen idol.

She said: “My job is to be a role model, and that’s what I want to do, but my job isn’t to be a parent.

Nick Jonas Would Like To ‘Make People Happy With His Music’

Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas doesn’t want to make Jonas Brothers fans cry with his new music.

The 17-year-old star – who formed Nick Jonas and the Administration, a side project to his usual group last year – is worried his current fan base will be upset when he releases upcoming album ‘Who I Am’.

He said: “I just prefer to make people happy with my music. I prefer to see a smile on someone’s face after I sing a song.”

Nick admits his solo effort isn’t as light-hearted as the material he records with his brothers, Joe and Kevin, and is more reflective of his own musical tastes.

He told VMAN magazine: “My real musical discovery started when I was 10 with Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5, and acts that I connected with because they were young when they were doing it, like me.

“Then I kind of came into my own a couple of years later, I found new artists – like the Kings of Leon – that shaped my musical landscape.”

Although he is excited by his new project, Nick – who is joined in the group by three members of Prince’s band, the New Power Generation – won’t be turning his back on his brothers for good.

He recently said: “My thought is the two can definitely exist. For me, 2010 will be a year of learning. We all have individual things we’ll be doing and just learning how to balance each one of our individual dreams along with our dreams together.”

Orlando Bloom Will Not Return To ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’

Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom will not return to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ because his character is dead to him.

The British actor, who played good guy William Turner in the swashbuckling flick, has no plans to return to the franchise, despite a clamour for his reprisal.

He said: “No, I’m definitely not returning. William Turner is sort of swimming around with the fish at the bottom of the ocean.”

Although the 33-year-old star won’t be joining Johnny Depp in the new movie, Orlando had a blast making the previous films.

He added: “I had a great time making those movies. I just really wanted to do different things, but I think it’s going to be great. Whatever Johnny does, I think it’s fantastic.”

Orlando is the second star of the franchise to confirm he won’t be in the next instalment of the series.

Keira Knightly – who plays Elizabeth Swan – has also stated she won’t be returning.

Lead character Captain Jack Sparrow – played by Johnny – is returning for the fourth movie, entitled ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’.

It has been suggested the actor will receive at least £21 million for reprising the role.

Susan Boyle’s Brother Fears She Will Be Assassinated Like John Lennon

Susan Boyle’s Brother Fears She Will Be Assassinated Like John Lennon

John Boyle is terrified the ‘Wild Horses’ singer could be murdered by an obsessed fan like the Beatles star, and has pleaded for an increase in security after Susan found an intruder in her home on Tuesday evening (26.01.10).

He told The Sun newspaper: “I am very upset about the lack of security. The family have told them several times that vast improvements need to be made to avoid something like this happening.

“This is the second time something has happened to Susan at her home and it is extremely worrying. Susan is a massive world star and needs better protection. You look at what happened to John Lennon in New York – it’s really worrying.”

John died in 1980, after being shot by deranged fan Mark Chapman outside his apartment building in New York.

Susan was returning home with a female pal after she had spent the day in a music studio in London, recording her vocals for Simon Cowell’s Haiti charity single.

Despite being scared about the intruder, the 48-year-old star is adamant she won’t let the incident drive her out of her home in West Lothian, Scotland.

She said: “I’m not going anywhere – nobody’s pushing me out of my house. I’m absolutely fine but it was very concerning for everyone. I think he got more of a scare than I did because he ran off.

“The matter is in hand and the police have been excellent.”

Since the break-in, music mogul Simon Cowell – who does not manage Susan but has kept a close eye on her since she appeared on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ – has arranged a team of minders to watch over her.

It is believed Susan is worried the man was the same one who tried to break into her house on December 21.

At the time the singer – who lives at home with her cat Pebbles – was so frightened she was forced to ring emergency services.

A source said: “Somebody was intent on getting in and didn’t care that she was in at the time. She’s worried it’s the same man this time too. It’s too much of a coincidence.”

Conversations have been happening between Cowell’s US team and her people about what kind of role she could have on the show.” The 23-year-old American star is said to be checking her hectic schedule to see if it is something she could fit in, but with her relentless touring commitments it may not be possible. LeAnn Rimes Has Written A Song ‘About Love’ Which Is Going To make Her Cry

LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes

The country singer – who is getting divorced from Dean Sheremet and is now in a relationship with her ‘Northern Lights’ co-star Eddie Cibrian – reveals in the track she is upset with the way she treated her ex-lover and hurting “the only man who’s ever loved her”.

The lyrics to the untitled song read: “What have I done? I broke the heart of the sweetest man. What have I done? I broke the heart of the only man who’s ever loved me. Who have I become? I hope you find someone new, someone who deserves you.”

The 27-year-old singer revealed her new track on Monday night (25.01.10) at the ASCAP Music Cafe at the Sundance Film Festival.

She told the audience: “This song is going to make me cry. It’s about love.”

This heartfelt track was followed by another number – titled ‘God Takes Care of Your Kind’ – which LeAnn explained was about a scorned lover getting drunk and seeking revenge.

She said: “A friend of mine got divorced about three years and the guy turned into a real a*s-h**e and we wanted to kill him. Everyone gets their heart broken and wants revenge. Sometimes we sit around drinking wine and talk about it, but this song is for everyone who wants to finally get that revenge.”

LeAnn recently admitted her new album – which will be released this spring – is inspired by the end of her marriage.

She said: “Most of the stuff I’ve written myself, so it’s definitely my life. The subjects of the tunes are down the middle between heartbreak and love.”

Penelope Cruz says winning an Oscar was like getting the best toy ever.

The ‘Nine’ star scooped the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress last year for her performance in ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ and admits receiving the gold statue was one of the happiest moments in her life.

Penelope is proud to show off her prize at her home and once even took her Oscar to the beach.

She said: “My Oscar lives in my house, but it changes rooms all the time. I’m looking at it in different places to make the final decision. I even took it to the beach one day. It’s like being five when you finally get a toy you’ve been asking for.”

Since winning the prestigious prize, the 35-year-old actress insists she doesn’t feel any extra pressure when making her films, because she has always worked hard.

Penelope – who is believed to be engaged to Javier Bardem – added to Stylist magazine: “I’ve always felt under pressure and had a lot of insecurity, so that doesn’t change and I don’t want that to alter. I don’t want to get to the set and feel too secure. I’ve worked for so many years feeling a lot of respect and healthy fear of the work and I don’t feel I can change that now.”

Gabourey Sidibe Talks About Working With Mariah Carey

by cyan on Jan.26, 2010, under Actress, Roles

Gabourey Sidibe felt “inspired” working alongside Mariah Carey.

The American star – who made her acting debut in ‘Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire’, in which she plays troubled teenager Claireece ‘Precious’ Jones – admits it was a dream come true working with Mariah, who played her dowdy social worker.

Gabourey said: “I’ve bought Mariah’s albums and I saw her live recently. I’ve been inspired by various people such as Mo’Nique, Mariah and Mary J. Blige.”

The 26-year-old actress was equally impressed by British star Dame Helen Mirren when she met her at the recent Golden Globe Awards.

She told The Sun newspaper: “It pretty much rocked my face off. She is really awesome. She is the nicest lady.

“Oh man, the Golden Globes was a lot of fun. It was so fun because it was packed, but packed with celebrities. It was like leaving a baseball game and finding the person you happen to be crunched up against is Leonardo DiCaprio.”

The role for the movie required an overweight teenager, and plus-sized Gabourey fitted the profile, however, she isn’t worried about her frame being a disadvantage in Hollywood.

She said: “I love the way I look. I’m never going to be a size two. I’m just not structured in that way. I am not worried about Hollywood trying to change me. They haven’t changed yet – for now people seem to like me as I am.

Brian McFadden will tie the knot with Delta Goodrem this year – but only if they can find a date which doesn’t clash with the soccer World Cup.

The former Westlife star – who proposed to the former ‘Neighbours’ actress three years ago, a year after he divorced Kerry Katona – is ready to walk down the aisle but has revealed the couple are struggling to find a suitable date which doesn’t clash with the summer tournament taking place in South Africa.

Sports mad Brian, 29, said: “We’re trying to work out a date between the World Cup and the end of the Formula 1 season. It’s messing all my plans up… I was going to produce another album but I won’t get any work done with both events going on.”

Delta – who was recently spotted meeting Britain’s Prince William during his tour of Sydney – is fortunately a “huge sports fan” so has been understanding to Brian’s wishes.

The Australian actress-turned-singer – who was first rumoured to marry Brian in December 2009 – said: “I would love to go to the World Cup.”

Freddie Prinze Jr. tied up a girl at school with his shoe laces because he wanted to kiss her.

The ‘She’s All That’ actor – who welcomed daughter Charlotte into the world four months ago with his actress wife Sarah Michelle Gellar – admitted he’d always been the one chasing girls in the playground, and it was because of those antics his mother predicted he’d have a little girl.

Speaking on the American morning talk show ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’, he said: “When I was in the second grade, there was this girl that I really liked and every day at recess we would play ‘boys chase girls.’ There was this girl – I liked her so much. I ran after her, caught her, went in for the smooch and she cheeked me – she turned the cheek so I didn’t get the kiss!”

“I had these ‘Sesame Street’ shoe laces. I took them out, tackled her and I tied her up and I smooched her right on the lips.”

After being sent home from school for his actions, Freddie’s mother dished out a bit of advice to her young son.

He said:  “I said, ‘Mum, are you mad at me?’ And she said, ‘No, I’m not mad at you, but you’re going to have a little girl.’”

The US star joked history would not be repeating itself with his daughter, as he will be a protective father.

He said:  “If that happens, the second grader is gonna get knocked out!”

Chris O’Donnell’s wife got pregnant for the fifth time because of a “miscommunication”.

Despite claiming he always wanted five children with wife Caroline Fentress, the actor – who played Robin in the movies ‘Batman Forever’ and  ‘Batman and Robin’ – said he was shocked at her last pregnancy as he thought they would stop at four.

He said: “I always wanted five children, but when we got four I was like, ‘Ok, we’re done’.

“Five was the only time we were really surprised. All along the way we were strategic about what we were doing and then, uh, a little miscommunication there.”

However, 39-year-old Chris said he is happy the pair had a fifth child, daughter Maeve Frances – now two – a sister to Lily Anne, 10, nine-year-old Christopher Eugene, Charles McHugh, six, and Finley, three.

He added to Michigan Avenue Magazine: “We’ve got five and we couldn’t be happier because Maeve is such a cute little girl.”

Chris recently revealed he has “grown up a little bit”.

He said: “I’m almost 40 years old now. But everyone was introduced to me when I was 18 and I looked like I was 15.

“Before, I’d be cast as a young impressionable character. I think part of that is just being more mature.”

Kristen Stewart plays a stripper in her new film.

The ‘Twilight’ star portrays a 16-year-old runaway who gets into erotic dancing and occasional prostitution to earn money in the movie – which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Saturday (23.01.10) – and Kristen admits it is a big departure for her.

She said: “My character’s not sultry, not sexy. She sort of throws herself into all her moves. I tore myself up doing it.”

The 19-year-old actress is seen dancing in platform heels, fishnets, a micro-mini skirt and a bra in one scene and the actress was nervous about shooting the sequence with co-star James Gandolfini.

She added: “The first time I put on all the fishnets I was nervous. I really tried to own it though.”

Kristen trained with a professional stripper for two weeks to prepare for the movie and initially wanted to learn the sexy moves covered up.

Speaking to Us Weekly magazine, she said: “I wanted to do it in my clothes. But my trainer was like, ‘No, you don’t stick to the poll when you do that.’ ”

Paul Bettany Worries For His Children’s Futures

Paul Bettany
Paul Bettany

The ‘Legion’ actor – who raises sons 12-year-old Kai and Stellan, six, with wife Jennifer Connelly – admitted he’s terrified the universe will end because of the way people abuse and don’t take care of their environment.
He said: “I think about the apocalypse all the time in terms of the environment and in terms of the wars we’re waging. I think about it a lot, and it’s frightening what life is going to be like in 2055 for my children if we don’t cut down on our fossil fuels.”
Paul, 38, believes he is not alone in his concerns and thinks that is why so many post-apocalyptic movies are so popular.
He said: “I think it’s an ongoing fear and fantasy for people, so I don’t think it’s ever gone away. And maybe that’s why we’re suddenly seeing so many post-apocalyptic movies.”
