The Oscar-winning actress had been working on a Christmas special of BBC TV show ‘Cranford’ – which is based on three 19th Century novellas written by Elizabeth Gaskell – when she had a dental disaster and lost a crown.

Judi was in full 1840s dress – which she wears for her role as Matty Jenkins in the drama – when she was rushed to the practice in Ealing, west London.

She said: “There wasn’t time for me to change. So I was in my wig and bonnet and all my clothes. I went into the waiting room and everyone kept looking.

“When I got in to see the dentist, he said, ‘Are you busy working?’ I was wearing a full wig with curls.”

Although 74-year-old Judi is famous for her period roles on both the big and small screens, she insists she wouldn’t have wanted to live in the 1800s because of “all that washing”.

The actress – who won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her turn as British monarch Queen Elizabeth I in ‘Shakespeare in Love’ – said: “Mind you, when I was little we didn’t have a dishwasher, we didn’t have a washing machine – we didn’t have any of those things, so we had a bit of that at the end of the 1930s.”

The actress loved hanging out with the actor – who is dating Reese Witherspoon – while filming their new movie ‘Brothers’ and praised his sense of humour and hair care advice, but insisted she doesn’t find him attractive.

“We really just made the movie so I could say I look a little different than Tobey.”

Jake also spoke out about the attention he receives when out in public, insisting he will never complain as it comes with being an actor.

He said: “That’s just a little part of this job. It’s a part of the job, and there are days that are easier than other days. In terms of a funny guy jumping out of the corner somewhere and catching a photo of you, I can’t say anything bad about it.”

The ‘Empire State of Mind’ rapper has been signed up to star at the 2010 ceremony where he will perform a medley of his biggest hits and a duet with a surprise artist – believed to be his wife Beyonce Knowles, Alicia Keys or Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Jay-Z is confirmed as one of the key performers. In weak years there have been problems securing the big international artists. But knowing Jay-Z was there will help to secure other big acts.”

It has already been revealed ‘Bodies’ star Robbie Williams will close the awards show after being receiving Outstanding Contribution To Music prize, for his work with Take That and as a solo star.

Robbie has already won more BRITs than any other artist and will be presented his 16th honour at the event which takes place at London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre on February 16 2010.

British comedian Peter Kay has also been signed up to host the ceremony.

The ‘Bad Romance’ singer ordered 80 cheese pizzas for people who were waiting for her autograph outside a Los Angeles store where she was scheduled to do a record signing.

She wrote on her Twitter page: “Sending all my little monsters little pizzas for waiting all night for me at Best Buy. I hope you’re hungry… eat up I love u! (sic).”

As well as splashing out $1,000 on the pizzas, which were provided by fast-food chain Papa John’s, Lady Gaga is also said to have tipped “very, very well”.

The ‘LoveGame’ singer also thanked her fans for making her latest release, ‘The Fame Monster’, number one in the US iTunes charts.

The ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ singer amazed presenters of UK TV show ‘GMTV’ with her diva-like antics, which also included being lowered onto a sofa by two people, with more members of her entourage being placed in the studio to check camera angles.

It has been revealed the Hollywood couple – who raise six children together – gave away the giant sum of cash to several different charities last year after raising the money through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter – which has received a copy of the 2008 tax return for the charity – the Jolie-Pitt Foundation banked $13 million in 2008 and over half was given back to good causes.

The Global Health Council, an organisation which aims to reduce disease and death globally, received $2 million from the couple.

Brad’s Make It Right Foundation and the Human Rights Watch were each granted $1 million from the celebrity pair.

The rest of the money was split between The Armed Services YMCA of the US Army, who were given $500,000, schools in Brad Pitt’s hometown in Springfield, Missouri, which received $50,000, and around $1 million went towards projects in Cambodia, where their eight-year-old adopted son Maddox is from.

Last year, Brad and Angelina sold the rights for the first images of their twins, Knox and Vivienne – who were born on July 12 2008 – for several million dollars. This money is believed to have been donated to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation – which they formed in 2006 to aid global humanitarian causes.

They also raise five-year-old son Pax and daughters Zahara, four and three-year-old Shiloh.

The country singer admits he would never rule out a collaboration with his actress wife – who showed off her vocal talents in ‘Moulin Rouge!’ – because they have so much fun singing together at home.

He said: “Would we do something together? I don’t think it’s ever out of the question. I don’t know. We sort of do our own things professionally. But I love singing with her at home. It’s quite nice. She’s a huge inspiration for everything I do.”

Nicole, 42, may not be the only member of his family Keith collaborates with in future.

The singer also revealed that the couple’s 16-month-old daughter Sunday Rose is already showing signs of musical talent.

Bronx Mowgli – who actually turned one on Friday (20.11.09) – was treated to a ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’-themed bash at his grandparents Joe and Tina Simpson’s house in Encino, California, which even included an impersonator dressed as the goofy, yellow sea sponge.

Pete thanked his friends and family on Twitter for a “rad b-day for Bronx. (sic)”

The tot was joined by 30 family and friends – including his pop star aunt Jessica Simpson – who tucked into birthday cake and played on a giant bouncy castle.

Last week, Pete revealed his plans behind opting for the cartoon theme.

He said: “Bronx likes Bob and he likes guitar – which he calls ‘itar’ so we’re going to have a SpongeBob party for him.”

The rhinestone studded mitt was bought by Hong Kong businessman Hoffman Ma for well over its estimated value of around $50,000. Including taxes and fees, the final amount paid for the glove was $420,000.

The glove was hailed as the ultimate collector’s item by auctioneer Darren Julien.

He said: “It’s the Holy Grail of Michael Jackson gear.”

The glove was worn by the ‘King of Pop’ when he first performed his famous Moonwalk dance in 1983 on the Motown 25 television special.

After an opening bid of $10,000 the price of the glove immediately shot to $120,000 before eventually reaching $350,000.

Other items sold included a black jacket worn by Michael for his 1989 ‘Bad’ world tour, which fetched $225,000, 20 times over its estimated sale price, and a fedora hat worn by the star was auctioned for $22,000.

Many of the winning bidders for the memorabilia were internet based clients from the Far East.

Many people turned out at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, New York, to watch the sale of the late singer’s possessions.

Meanwhile, Dr. Conrad Murray has returned to work for the first time since the singer’s death.

Dr. Murray – who was Michael’s personal physician at the time of his passing in June from acute Propofol intoxication – returned to the Armstrong Medical Clinic in Houston, Texas, on Friday (20.11.09), where he treated 16 patients who had requested appointments.

Dr. Murray is thought to be the last person to see Michael alive and has been investigated by Los Angeles police in connection with a homicide investigation into the star’s death, after he revealed to police he administered the powerful anaesthetic Propofol to the ‘Thriller’ singer. The doctor has not, however, had any criminal charges brought against him.

A lawyer for Dr. Murray, Edward Chernoff, claims the events surrounding the singer’s untimely death have left his client in financial ruin.

He said: “He has not been able to earn a living since the death of Michael Jackson.

“His legal fees are enormous and his debts have mounted to the point where it is unclear whether he will be able to keep his house or support his family.”

Production on US comedy drama series ‘Cougar Town’ has been suspended to give the 45-year-old actress – who has a five-year-old daughter Coco with husband David Arquette – time off to deal with a personal problem.

Show representatives have so far refused to give out any further details.

A spokesperson for TV network ABC said: “We can confirm production on ‘Cougar Town’ has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter.”

Courteney stars as single mother Jules Cobb on the show and is also executive producer.

Courteney recently admitted she and David, 38, want to have more children before it is too late.

She said: “We’re not trying yet. We’re revving up the engines. I’m only ready because time’s a-ticking.

Ronan told him: “With you being here tonight, the four of us, Boyzone, feel like five.”

Also during the evening Ronan performed alongside Take That star Gary Barlow.

The pair sang a rendition of ‘Back For Good’ – which Take That topped the UK charts with in 1995 – to the cheering audience.

The bash is an annual event in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation which Ronan and his family set up when his mother Marie died of breast cancer in 1998.

It raised £650,000 for charity Cancer Research UK.

Stephen died aged 33 from an acute pulmonary oedema, a build-up of fluid in the lungs, while on holiday with Andy at their villa in Majorca on October 10.

Since his shock passing, his bandmates have regularly spoken out about their devastation at losing their long-time friend.

Ronan recently admitted: “I just feel worn out. I haven’t been sleeping. My brain doesn’t work. My heart’s broken. You just feel crushed. I’ve had good days and bad days.

“The bad days are horrible, it’s like the walls are coming in on top of you. Anxiety I think is what they call it.

A friend told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper Leona had said: “I’m on a mission. I’d love to promote a line of non-leather bags and shoes that are affordable. I think more needs to be available and not so expensive.

“There’s so much I want to do. I’ve always wanted to have my own fashion line, and that’s something I want to focus on next year.”

Vegetarian Leona, 24, doesn’t wear suede, leather or other animal products and is public supporter of PETA, while Stella has been a long-time vegetarian – just as her father Sir Paul McCartney and late mother Linda McCartney were.

The ‘Lovely Bones’ actress – who is engaged to director Darren Aronofsky – says being a parent to three-year-old Henry is “delicious” but admits she needs her friends for support when family life gets too stressful.

“Those moments when everything is crashing in and you feel like you’re going to scream.

“Because even though children are the most precious things in the world, they are also sent to test us. I think women are already stretched and pressured to be perfect, and it kind of drives me crazy.”

Despite her confession, the 39-year-old star says she has “never been happier” since having Henry and claims he has improved her life in so many ways.

She added to Redbook magazine: “I find I can get a lot more done since I’ve had Henry. Suddenly, in 45 minutes, you can get twice as much done as you once did. I’ve become a lot more organised.

“And I’m a much happier person since I’ve had Henry, and much more balanced. I feel I have an ultimate purpose beyond anything else in my life.”

The late ‘Thriller’ singer’s brother Jermaine Jackson paid tribute to the star when accepting the prizes for Favourite Soul/ R’n’B Artist, Favourite Pop/Rock Male Vocalist, Favourite Pop/Rock Album and Favourite Soul/R’n’B Album for his ‘Number Ones’ greatest hits compilation, praising his life philosophy.

Wearing a single white glove in tribute to Michael, Jermaine said: “It’s not just about the winnings, the awards. It’s mainly the message. The message Michael had will live on forever. He saw good in everyone. Start with love and let’s love each other.”

Michael’s wins took him to a record-breaking total of 23 AMAs for his career, however, he failed to win Artist of the Year, the only other category he was nominated in.

The honour went instead to ‘Love Story’ singer Taylor Swift, who was amazed to be handed five accolades, including Favourite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favourite Adult-Contemporary Artist, Favourite Country Album for ‘Fearless’ and Favourite Country Female Artist.

After being named Artist of the Year, she said in a video acceptance speech from London: “To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson is an unimaginable honour. I’m sending my love to the Jackson family.”

Black Eyed Peas were named Favourite Soul/ R’n’B Group and Favourite Pop/Rock Group and wowed the audience at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre with a rendition of their hits ‘I Got A Feeling’ and ‘Boom Boom Pow’, backed by dancers wearing outfits made of stereo speakers.

Janet Jackson had opened the show with a medley of her greatest hits, while Lady Gaga’s performance also proved a talking point.

The ‘Poker Face’ singer, wearing a spectacular headdress and vest filled with lights, performed songs from her new album, ‘The Fame Monster’, and used her microphone to break into a glass case containing a grand piano. As she started to play, the instrument caught fire.

Other performers included Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z, and Jennifer Lopez, who fell over mid-way through her tricky dance routine.
