The reality TV star was recently hospitalised with pneumonia and is now taking a well-earned rest to recover fully.

Nicole – who gave birth to son Sparrow in September – wrote on her blog: “Right now it’s important for me to stay in bed and recover. Reading all of your messages on Twitter and my website has really brightened my spirits and I am so grateful for the support. I look forward to seeing you all very soon.”

Nicole – who also has a 22-month-old daughter, Harlow, with Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden – will be back working in 2010 when she launches her new clothing line Winter Kate.

She said: “I will definitely be back in the spring when Winter Kate launches.”

Earlier this month, the mother-of-two was taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after complaining of feeling unwell and doctors quickly diagnosed her as suffering from the illness.

The veteran film director had his offer of $4.5 million bail accepted, which should allow him to be released from prison and kept under house arrest at a ski chalet he owns in the resort of Gstaad.

However, the Swiss Justice Ministry is considering appealing against the bail conditions at the country’s Supreme Court – meaning he currently has to remain behind bars.

Polanski, 76, presently faces extradition to the US from the European country, where he was arrested on September 26, over a conviction for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977.

Justice Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said: “We have ten days to appeal, but will come to our decision quickly.”

Galli said the reason for appealing was because ‘The Pianist’ director is considered a “high flight risk” and may flee back to his home in Paris.

Judges in Geneva were reportedly swayed in granting the bail offer because of Polanski’s family circumstances.

The director’s lawyer Herve Temime said his wife and two children are currently suffering the most because of the high-profile case.

He added that they are “very upset psychologically by this separation that is a true heartbreak for them”.

In 1977, Roman pleaded guilty to charges of having underage sex with 13-year-old Samantha Gailey, now known as Samantha Geimer.

He believed he would face a jail term of just 42 days, and claimed a judge had reneged on a plea bargain deal to reduce the charges from rape and serious sexual assault if he admitted under-age sex. However, on the day of his sentencing he fled to London then Paris.

France does not have an extradition treaty to the US, so if he escaped over the boarder he would be safe.

Debbie Nelson has revealed plans to wed her agent, Neal Alpert, who launched a lawsuit against her and her co-author for a small percentage of the profits from her book ‘My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem’.

The case was, however, dismissed last year.

In September, the last remaining original member Keisha Buchanan was ousted from the group and replaced by Jade after relations with Heidi and Amelle Berrabah irrevocably broke down.

Although former Eurovision contestant Jade, 21, joined the Sugababes almost immediately after Keisha left, she admits it has taken her a while to settle into the girl group.

Jade explained to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “We’re getting to know each other as a band now and I feel I really belong here at last.”

The girls are adamant they are not worried by the rumours the original three Sugababes – Keisha, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy – are to reform.

Heidi said: “There’s room for everyone. We’ve delayed our new album until next year. Hopefully by then we’ll have all moved on and can just talk about music.”

The Oscar-winning actress – who plays Grandma Lynn in new movie ‘The Lovely Bones’, in which her character is more interested in drinking, smoking and pampering herself than her family – admits her own kids don’t have great grandparent so they gave her some tips.

Susan – who has a 24-year-old daughter Eva with ex-boyfriend Franco Amurri and two sons, Jack, 20, and 17-year-old Miles with current partner Tim Robbins – said: “Grandma Lynn is quite wacky, which is good for me because my kids think I am wacky anyway! But she’s not your typical grandma and when I asked my kids what makes a bad grandparent, they could tell me because theirs aren’t exactly the best!

“But in the end Grandma Lynn comes good for the family, as they struggle to come to terms with the death of her granddaughter Susie – she is the one holding them altogether.”

The movie is based on the best-selling book and tells the story of murdered 14-year-old Susie Salmon and how she can’t go to heaven until she and her family have accepted her death.

Susan admits Grandma Lynn was a terrible mother to her own daughter and a poor grandparent, but following Susie’s tragic death she tries to make amends.

She said: “She failed miserably with her own daughter but she’s been given a second chance and while she doesn’t embrace it at first, she soon becomes the one they all need.”

Despite her claims to a life of wild partying and casual sex, the ‘Bad Romance’ singer’s best pal DJ Lady Starlight claims she was solely focused on her music when she first met her at her 20th birthday party.

The ‘Umbrella’ singer has been asked to sing at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi to help revellers see in 2010 in what will be her first performance in the Middle East.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: “She was supposed to perform back in May but she cancelled in the aftermath of the assault. This is a make-up date.”

Rihanna had been due to perform in Dubai earlier this year, which would have been her first show since she was attacked by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in February.

However, she cancelled the concert as she felt she wasn’t ready to return to the stage.

Rihanna will not be the first star to earn a vast amount of money for a one-off concert.

On New Year’s Eve 2006, George Michael was paid $2.6 million to perform 13 songs at a party for Russian nickel magnate Vladimir Potanin and a few months later was given around $2.5 million to sing at the 55th birthday party of Sir Philip Green, the owner British fashion chain Topshop.

Last year, it was revealed Amy Winehouse was paid $1.6 million to perform in an old Russian bus garage for Daria ‘Dasha’ Zhukova – the girlfriend of Chelsea Football Club owner, billionaire Roman Abramovich.

The ‘Young Victoria’ actress suffered from the speech impediment while growing up and admits she used to be reluctant to speak as a teenager.

She said in an interview with New York Times magazine: “Because I couldn’t talk very much, I watched the world go by more closely.”

Rather than let her stutter get the better of her, Emily improved her speech by listening to the different accents of the people in her acting class.

She said: “I’ve always been fascinated by accents, and the way people speak, and the intonations of it, and that was because I found it so hard to speak in my own voice.”

Emily, 26, doesn’t shy away from self-improvement. She went to “dance boot camp” for her role as a ballerina in new movie ‘The Adjustment Bureau’, in which she stars alongside Matt Damon.

The singer quit the band in 2004 and although his former bandmates insist it is unlikely he will ever return permanently, they haven’t ruled out a one-off performance with him.

Asked about the possibility of him returning to the band, singer Kian Egan told More magazine: “We’d never allow him, I don’t think. I mean, he left the band for a reason. But if we got paid enough, we’d do something with him.”

His bandmate Mark Feehily added: “Brian is still a friend, we don’t see him often but realistically he’ll never be in the band again. But we’ll not rule out singing with him. You can’t rule out stuff like that because you never know.”

The group – who formed in 1998 – also admit they don’t know how much longer they will continue.

The Babyshambles musician had been due to perform a number of concerts in Ireland but cancelled the shows at the last minute with his management claiming he was “exhausted”, but Pete has now revealed his condition was far more serious.

He said: “If I hadn’t been on a life support machine I’d have been in Ireland. But my heart stopped.”

Pete – who was immediately rushed to Great Western Hospital in Swindon after becoming ill at home – is adamant it wasn’t his drug use or hard partying lifestyle which caused his condition.

He told NME magazine: “Their immediate thought was that it was to do with drugs but it wasn’t. What happened? Well, I don’t know.

“I don’t remember. I was running into the walls, making steering wheel signs with my hands. And then I just… stopped. My body just stopped.”

The 30-year-old rocker – who has been repeatedly arrested for drug offences, for driving under the influence and car theft – has made several attempts over the years to overcome his addictions.

Pete says he is now back to full health and is set to rejoin the Babyshambles for a UK tour in December because it’s “just what the doctor ordered”.

Ohio police chief Barry Carpenter, 40, and another police chief, were accused of meeting with freelance photographers and offering them items concerning surrogate mother Michelle Ross’ pregnancy including poems, photos, legal documents about the surrogacy agreement, and pictures of ultrasounds.

Carpenter was eventually found guilty of three of the six counts against him, of receiving stolen property, theft in office and tampering with evidence. He was found not guilty of burglary and unauthorised use of property or services.

The officer will be sentenced on December 10, and faces up to 10 years in prison for his abuse of power and crimes. In the meantime he will be made to stay at his mother’s home and wear an electronic tag to monitor his movements.

In a videotaped interview presented to the court Carpenter said: “I stand by what I say. I didn’t burglarise no home. I don’t want to give up a 17-year police career for something that was a joke.”

Carpenter claims he only went into the house to secure the premises after noticing a door was ajar and did not take anything from the house.

Michelle Ross, 26, gave birth to the twin girls for Jessica and husband Matthew Broderick last June. She also testified in the trial against Carpenter.

The police chief’s alleged accomplice, Chief Chad M. Dojack, 29, will stand trial in January.

Stunned Katie – who had supported Alex after revelations about his fetish for cross-dressing surfaced – said: “I tell you what. If he’s done stories, that is it. Well, before I see him, I need to see everything.”

Katie – who first entered the show in 2004, where she met now ex-husband Peter Andre – also admitted that one of her reasons was for quitting was the “torture” of so many memories coming back to her.

She explained: “The whole place reminded me of Pete from the moment I woke up, the afternoon to the moment I went to sleep, every second it was Pete, Pete, Pete.

“I was having closure but some of the reminders, it was cruel to do it to myself so I just didn’t want to stay there.

“I have no regrets it’s the best thing I have done in the last seven months it was a test to see how emotionally strong I was.”
