Cleaning Is An Exhilarating Feeling For Jason Schwartzman

by Alice on Nov.30, 2009, under Actor

Jason Schwartzman

The ‘Darjeeling Limited’ actor – who is married to fashion designer Brady Cunningham – always tries to look for positive aspects to everything he does, even mundane daily chores, but admits it is sometimes a struggle.

He said: “You can be cleaning your house and all of the sudden get an exhilarating feeling. When I’m walking my dog and he does something beautiful – it’s all about finding these little pockets of heat in the world. But it’s hard. It’s like mining for gold.”

The 29-year-old star says he has always been a positive person, even when having problems in his youth.

Speaking about the similarities between himself and Ash, the young fox cub son of the titular character he voices in animated movie ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, Jason added to the USA Today newspaper: “I related to that character. I didn’t hit a growth spurt until a little bit later.

“I was an athlete, but I would have loved to have been a better athlete. I liked girls who typically liked someone else I knew.

“My dad was a little bit different. He really loved me. I also was different because I tried not to get grumpy.”

Simon Cowell Welcomes Eminem As A Judge Of ‘The X Factor’

by Alice on Nov.30, 2009, under Entertainment, Music, Rapper, Singer

Simon Cowell

The rapper issued a come and get me plea to Simon last week to be a judge on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ and now the music mogul says he would be delighted to welcome Eminem onto the panel.

Simon said: “It would be great to have him on as a guest judge.

“Em – I can call him that because we are on first name terms – the job is yours.”

However, Simon insisted he won’t alter the line-up and drop any of the current judges – Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole, Australian singer Dannii Minogue, the sister of Kylie Minogue, and music manager Louis Walsh – to make room for the ‘We Made You’ star.

He added: “I’m not getting rid of anyone.”

Eminem, 37, said last week he doesn’t think the current panellists have been successful enough to help the acts.

He said: “No disrespect to the current judges but you need people who are global, platinum-selling stars. You need to prepare contestants for what it’s really like out there, and what sort of pressure you are going to be under.

“So much average talent comes out of these reality shows. A hip-hop star will never win a show like the ‘X Factor’ without somebody like me on the panel. It needs somebody in power to open a door for them.”

Susan Boyle’s Album Has Become The Fastest-selling Record Breaking Debut By A Woman

by Alice on Nov.30, 2009, under Albums, Artist, Music, Singer

susan_boyle

The Scottish singer – who shot to fame after appearing on talent show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ earlier this year – has broken records with her first album, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, which shot to the top of the British album charts yesterday (29.11.09).

The record has become the fastest-selling debut album ever released in the UK after selling 411,000 copies in one week and has also sold over 2million copies worldwide – making it the fastest-selling debut album by a woman ever.

Susan, 48, said: “It’s fantastic!”

However, the singer’s success has been marred by New Zealand TV presenter, who labelled the 48-year-old singer a “retard”.

During his live breakfast show, Paul Henry criticised Susan – who suffered learning difficulties as a child after she was starved of oxygen at birth – and told viewers he had made a “revelation”.

He said: “Here’s the really interesting revelation – she is in fact retarded. And if you look at her carefully, you can make it out.”

The show was flooded with complaints from viewers and disabled charities, who blasted his unkind words.

However, Paul claims he has no regrets over his remarks.

He explained: “These were light-hearted remarks. I can’t recall a time that I’ve regretted saying anything.”

Philippa Sellens, from New Zealand disabled group the Intellectually Handicapped Charity: “Paul thought he was being very funny, but he wasn’t, it was highly offensive. Very few people would have found it funny.”

The presenter is now said to be facing the sack.

The singer-and-actress and her husband Marc Anthony are obsessed with their 21-month-old children, son Max and daughter Emme, and show photos of them to everyone they meet.

She explained: “When Marc and I are out we get out our phones and show everyone pictures of our kids. We probably do that a little too much. You always think you are not going to be that person – but then you are. We are just normal I guess.”

The 40-year-old beauty also spoke about how the twins are the most important thing in her life.

She said: “Our babies are our priority, they are just everything and they come first. They just make everything better.”

The ‘I’m Real’ star recently revealed she sings lullabies to the tots and whispers how much she loves them to help them drift off to sleep.

She explained: “I sing little lullabies to them to help them go off to sleep some nights. But I like to whisper in their ear and that works even better. I have done that since they were tiny babies. I whisper to them how much I love them.”

Sir Paul McCartney Gargles With Salt Water Before Playing Live

by Alice on Nov.30, 2009, under Artist, Music, Singer

Paul McCartney

The music legend has a pre-concert ritual of gargling with salt water, but admits it makes him vomit.

When asked if he has any rituals, Paul said: “Well yes, kind of. I’ve got a couple of little things I do in the dressing room, but it’s really minimal, you know, it’s more superstitious than anything. I gargle with salt water.”

When quizzed if it makes him sick, he quipped: “Yes, it does. It’s this kind of bulimia thing I’ve got going on. No, it’s supposed to be good for you, salt water. I don’t know why. I persuade myself its good for me.”

However, Paul – who is a strict vegetarian – didn’t need to rinse out his mouth with salt water when he was in The Beatles.

He added in a radio interview with ‘Absolute Radio Breakfast Show’ host Christian O’Connell to be aired tomorrow (01.12.09): “I’ve only started doing this recently. It’s in the dressing room, there’s a little packet of salt and a kettle for me.”

by Alice on Nov.30, 2009, under Artist, Music, Singer

Janet Jackson

The ‘Make Me’ singer said she had avoided everything that could remind her of her Thriller’ singer brother after he suddenly passed away in June, until she was about to perform at the

MTV Video Music Awards in September, when she saw a huge picture in tribute to him.

Janet, 43, said: “It hit me before I was about to do the performance, and it hit me when we were in rehearsal.

“There was a huge image of him on this screen, and I started to cry. I had to step away.”

She also said that she is continuing to come to terms with the singer’s death, of acute intoxication by the anesthetic Propofol, but that she feels in future things will get easier.

She added: “You know, a day doesn’t go by where you don’t think about him. It’s always there, in every sense. “But it will get better. It’s not easy, but I know with time it will get easier. But it will never be easy. It’s my brother.”

Shakira Has Never Forgot About True Poverty

by Alice on Nov.30, 2009, under Artist, Music, Singer

Shakira

The ‘She Wolf’ singer said she was upset and frightened when her father, a jeweler, went bankrupt and had to sell most of the family possessions when she was a child.

The experience did, however, lead them give her a lesson she has never forgot about true poverty.

Shakira, 32, said: “I couldn’t believe my parents! I thought they were the most incompetent business people in the world! And I was so upset.

“My dad and my mom took me to the park that day, where all the kids who were orphans are sniffing glue to deal with the tragedy of their own lives and hunger and the solitude of their lives.

“Little kids, like my age, sniffing glue and barefoot. They just wanted to show me another reality that was much worse than mine.  Those images of those kids left a huge impression.”

Shakira, who found fame in her native Columbia as a teenager, later went on to establish the Pies Descalzos Foundation, a charity which sets up special schools for underprivileged children across her home country.

She is also a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador and regularly performs at benefit concerts around the globe.

In February she also opened a new $6 million school in her hometown Barranquilla sponsored by herself and the Pies Descalzos Foundation.

Beyonce’s LifeTime Sacrifice Made Her Successfull

by Alice on Nov.30, 2009, under Artist, Music, Singer

Beyonce Knowles

The ‘Single Ladies’ singer said that the pressures of celebrity have taken everything away from her that would allow her to enjoy a normal lifestyle.

She said: “I just sacrificed life. Being able to walk down the street and being able to make mistakes and not have it recorded for ever.

“Being able to have regular relationships and dates. Just regular, normal things that people probably don’t even think about. Sometimes it’s hard.”

Beyonce, 28, also said that during her career – which has so far spanned 14 years recording with Destiny’s Child and as a solo artist – she has hardly ever had any chance to take a break.

She added: “I haven’t had longer than a couple of months off ever in my life, since I was 15.

“But I was raised that anything that’s worth anything takes a lot of sacrifice. And when anything is too easy for me I get scared.”

The ‘Halo’ hitmaker also said, however, she’s promised to take some time out of her recording and touring schedule to keep for herself next year.

She added: “After a couple of dates in February and a couple of award shows, I promised myself that that it’s time to smell the roses.

“I’m going to take – hopefully – a couple of months off. I’m not going to plan anything. I’ll perhaps take some art classes, I’ll visit some museums and I’ll check out some shows on Broadway. I’d like to travel somewhere – maybe Egypt – without anyone, without any security, and focus on things I’ve always wanted to do myself.”

50 Cent

The rapper is launching his own signature scent for men, ‘Power by 50 Cent’, and says guys will receive an instant ego boost from the cologne.

He said: “Are you referring to my new perfume ‘Power by 50 Cent’? It helps to boost your self-confidence. It’s important to look good and even more important to smell good. What good are the best clothes if you smell bad?”

Although 50 will be wearing the fragrance himself, he insists he doesn’t need a confidence boost because he is an international superstar.

He added to German website Spiegel Online: “I already have the necessary self-confidence – otherwise I would have never been a successful hip-hop artist. My record label wanted me to be different at times, more politically correct. But to give into that would have only proven a bad character. If you’re not sure about yourself you’re not suited for the hip-hop business.”

Sir Paul McCartney’s Nostalgic Feelings

by Alice on Nov.28, 2009, under Artist, Band, Music, Singer

Paul McCartney

Despite the fact it’s been almost 40 years since the band split, the 67-year-old music legend loves playing the Fab Four’s songs live because it takes him on a trip down memory lane.

Paul – who was joined in The Beatles by Ringo Starr ad the late John Lennon and George Harrison – said: “I still think I am in The Beatles – it is something you don’t want to lose. If I am doing songs from The Beatles, I remember the session when we recorded it. If I am doing ‘Something’ obviously I am thinking of George, and the memories of playing the ukulele. In a way you are revisiting them.”

Paul also thinks of late wife Linda, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1998, when he plays songs by Wings – the band he and Linda formed after the Beatles split in 1970.

Paul, who launched his ‘Good Evening New York City’ DVD in London yesterday (26.11.09) – said: “Similarly with John and Linda, you kind of are in contact with them again. It’s sad, it’s emotional.

“There’s a song I do called ‘Here Today’ which is specifically written for John, and that sometimes catches me out. I realise I am telling this man that I love him and it’s like, ‘Oh my God, I am publicly declaring this in front of all these people I don’t know.’ ”

Boy George Says His Life Has Improved “100 per cent” After Giving Up Drugs

by Alice on Nov.27, 2009, under Artist, Music, Singer

Boy George

The ‘Do You Really Want To Hurt Me’ singer – who was released from prison in May after serving four months of a 15-month sentence for assault and false imprisonment of a male escort – has vowed never to touch illegal substances again after attending regular Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

He said: “I was like, I don’t need it. I’m fine. I’d been to one in the 80s and I just thought they were all weirdos, which is a common get out clause for anyone in denial but I went to one.

“Since that day, my life has improved more than 100 per cent.”

The 48-year-old singer also spoke about his time in prison, saying it helped with his battle to stay clean, rather than turning him back to drugs.

He added to Attitude magazine: “I went in with all the tools you learn in Narcotics Anonymous about resilience and surrender.

“I went to NA meetings inside, the first week in Pentonville. Oh my God, I was horrified.”

George has met men with different addictions at the meetings and fears drug use is spiralling out of control in the UK.

He added: “I’m seeing guys coming in who’ve been using crystal meth and there is a potential for that to be an epidemic.

“It’s scary and it’s starting to become popular here. People need to block out their feelings and the question is, why do we hate ourselves so much”

One of Robbie’s team has already been to visit the Holiday Park, in Wycliffe Well, which has more reported UFO sightings than any other place in Australia.

Lew Farkas, the owner of the Holiday Park, told the Courier News newspaper: “A mate of his came and stayed here and was telling me how Robbie was right into UFOs and was a real buff on the subject. He said he would let him know about Wycliffe Well and the UFO element.

“Being the UFO buff that he is, it would fit in with his way of thinking. Maybe it could be a joint venture. He might want to invest in it and I could look after it.”

Wycliffe Well is ranked 5th in the world for reported UFO sightings which date as far back as World War II when serving armed forces recorded strange things in the sky.

The Spice Girls Musical Will Be Called ‘Viva Forever’.

by Alice on Nov.27, 2009, under Artist, Entertainment, Films, Music, Singer

Spice Girls

The girl group have chosen to name the proposed musical after their 1998 number one hit and the script for the show is presently being written.

The musical – which will tell the rags-to-riches rise to fame of the five members, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Mel C and Emma Bunton – is being written by Kim Fuller, who also penned the script for the group’s 1997 film ‘Spiceworld’. Kim is the sister of former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller.

The production will feature 14 of the band’s biggest songs, and is set to begin on November 5 next year.

It has previously been reported the group will hold a talent search to find the cast who will play the Spices on stage.

A source said: “It’s a fantastic new way to broaden out the Spice franchise and cash in on their personalities, their story and their songs.

“The girls would have to work intensely on a TV show for a short period of time. But then they can launch a musical which could run for months or even years.

“It will take on a life of its own. The concept could even be replicated in other countries. The sky is the limit with this one.”

The Spice Girls, who formed in 1994, last performed together in Toronto, Canada, in February 2008.

The Spanish actress put in weeks of training for one particular scene in the musical movie – about a film director struggling in his relationships with women, in which Penelope plays the central character’s mistress – where she had to slide down a rope.

Describing the scene, Penelope said: “They mapped it out and showed me how it was done. I said I would never be able to do it but I worked and worked and regained the memory of muscles in my legs I hadn’t used since I was a teenager studying ballet.”

Penelope, 35, was rehearsing for the film’s rope scenes for three months before they were eventually completed, and was left with calluses on her hands and bleeding digits from sliding down the ropes so often.

She added to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: “I was stretching, running and going to the gym to get my arms strong to support me on the ropes. But with my hands, after a while you don’t feel the pain. I had the wounds dressed and carried on.”

Victoria Beckham In Pain And Needs Surgery To Wear Hi-heels

Victoria Beckham

The former Spice Girls star-turned-fashion designer has been advised by doctors to undergo a procedure to ease the painful condition – a deformity of the bone and joint which affects the big toe and can be extremely painful.

But despite the advice, Victoria has been doing exercises and had corrective insoles put into her shoes in a bid to avoid having the operation because it will mean she won’t be able to wear her trademark high heels for months.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: “Victoria is in agony with her misshapen feet.

“She is suffering from shooting pain from the bunions. Victoria calls her feet ‘the bane of my life’, but she is worried about having the operation because she fears they will compromise her ability to wear heels and ruin her stylish look.

“She puts up with the pain, but the doctor has told her she seriously needs to consider a bunionectomy or ditch the heels for a few months to let the inflammation calm down. She has not got that long to decide what to do.”

Victoria – who is married to soccer player David Beckham – has previously revealed her hatred of flat shoes.

She said: “I beyond hate ballerina flats. I can’t walk in them. Unless they’re on a ballet dancer doing ballet, I just don’t get it. I love heels.

“I hate my feet – they are the most disgusting thing about me.”
